None, on the games I've played so far it has just worked with no 3rd part apps or any configuration at all, just plug n play.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Free mobile app

I've tested a Logitech k400 keyboard + touchpad, Wii U Pro controller through a mayflash adapter, and an Insignia 4 port usb hub. All work with no problems.

The wireless xbox 360 USB adapter also works. Everything connects with ease, it just can't interpret the dpad buttons.

gaming with controller

has anyone who has a dock been able to connect their dual shock 3 controller to TFP? I thought it was plug and play.
Just watched a video of someone doing exactly that. I believe its wireless via bluetooth also, but that may happen in ICS. Don't remember.

I *think* it will be PnP in ICS. Till then, you can purchase SIXAXIS app in the market, it's less then $2.00
I went out and bought a PS3 dual shock controller just to do this then found out that it only works if you use a usb cable, bluetooth is not compatible.
I found that to be lame.

You should check the Android Market, I'm pretty sure you'll find some applications letting you play with bluetooth.
Only certain game actually support a joystick. I think there is an app you have to install that works like a driver for it, but I have not tried it myself. However, it was said a WIRED PS3 or Xbox360 controller would work.
Bluetooth is supported too, but there are very few joysticks that match this. There is a Logitech PC controller and a Gamestop Tablet Gamepad that are supposed to work via bluetooth. Not sure on the requirements. I plan on getting the Logitech one to try this out; however, not sure when I will get around to it.
Here is a video of it in action:

Actually no, any app on the android market that would let you use the PS3 controller via bluetooth does not work on the prime unless you root it.
I had the gamestop controller and it is a total POS. It works with some games but they are not controls you can use to actually play the games just using that controller.. GTAIII for example.. You can only control your movement, you cant attack or jump or anything else.
The only game it works for is shadowgun. It doesnt works for any emulators, fpse, snes, sega or n64.
The Sixaxis app will let you connect a PS3 controller to your tablet, but you have to be rooted for it to work.

I imagine the emulator apps would need support for the controller programmed into the app itself, the tablet just recognizing the controller is there wouldn't be enough. each app will have to know what part of the screen to associate each controller button with. with PnP supported in ICS hopefully many more games & emulators will support controllers.
i got it to work. It is plug and play. You just have to go into controls and configure buttons. awesome for gaming.

The way the gamestop controller works, its not registered as a controller at all. It replaces your input method so basically its registered as a wireless keyboard that you cant setup.
My PS3 controller worked just fine being plugged into dock. I love shadowgun on it now. It is a hard game to play without controller.

Through bluetooth on the Droid and Nexus phones I've used it on. I assume it will work the same way on the Prime once we have superuser.

[Q] 360 controller not working on prime...

so...i read on a bunch of forums that you can just plug and play a 360 controller to the prime's dock via usb to play games
i have tried with shadowgun thd and snesoid....a game and an emulator that i have seen work in other threads and neither acknowledge the controller
snesoid does acknowledge the controller when i try to map the keys and shadowgun just doesn't do anything...
so is there an app i need to make it so that the prime uses the controller? i'd love to get this going..
thanks!
Try out USB/BT joystick center in app store. I've seen others say it works great for mapping controls properly.
From my understanding you can only used the wired xbox controllers. You cannot use the plug and charge remotes.
Thanks...that's what I was using (plug and charge)...I'll look for the guides for using the controller wirelessly
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
You can use wireless controllers if you have the wireless receiver for PC/Windows. Plug that into the Prime and it detects wireless 360 controllers fine. Used it on mine with no problems.

Are these controllers supported natively, or is it necessary to use 3rd party apps to connect to them?

I get the list of controllers from .15 firmware, so they supported natively.
But alsow game must fully support games controller.
Some times, not all buttons works. For example only moves or fire and jump button,
etc
I have a wired Xbox 360 controller I used with mine (requires keyboard) and it works incredibly well - if the software supports it. You can navigate the home screens easily, just like the touchpad. But, game support is dependent on the game, not OS. For example, Shine Runners works very well, but Dungeon Defenders doesn't see it.
The nVidia marketplace does a good job of specifying controller support.

Just plagin PS3 remote to the dock
just tried my iControlPad, works with bluez ime app from market (free) and any ''oid'' emulatore (snesoid, gameboid, etc) have not tried other setups
I meed to get a dock n USB controller or a BT controller. these ps1 games is killing me with touch screen controls. I got final doom, quake 2, R-type Delta, Marvel vs. Capcom, XMen vs. Street Fighter, and Einhander all on my prime. they look n play great with the gpu plugin. now I need a damn controller. Hard to play some of those with touchscreen..lol
which one is the one you can buy at Gamestop that's said to work with prime?
the motorola bluetooth keyboard (the one styled after the xoom) work like a dream, shortcut keys, home/back, its one of the less expensive and well made bluetooth android oriented keyboards, and it has function keys for use with a pc as well, well worth the 45$ i paid for it.

Can you give me a link on that controller (iControlPad)?
demandarin there's no answer yet, only testing
Hi,
I tried to connect my WiiMotes.
Even though it suggests the codes 0000 and 1234 ,neither seems to do the trick.
Any help would be appreciated.
I've been using the GameStop branded controller. The system seems to treat it as a bluetooth keyboard. If you launch a notepad type app, you can see what buttons map to which keys. But it seems to work to some degree at least in those apps that nvidia labels as "controller" supported.
I think this is already known but the Sixaxis PS3 controller works without any 3rd party apps.
Just plug it in via USB then turn on bluetooth. From then on it is paired and will work without needing USB.

Anyone able to get the right analog sticks on any brand of controller to properly register with emulators (such as N64oid, SNESoid, Gensoid etc.)?
PS3 won't, either hooked up native or through a third-party such as SixAxis Controller. Therefore I'm wondering if any others will, or if it's an issue that will be present regardless.

N64oid only looks for analog input from the left analog stick and ignores the right analog completely. In order to get the C-buttons working, you can use the Sixaxis app in native gamepad mode, disable the 'Right Analog x-axis' and 'Right Analog y-axis', then use the keyboard emulation to configure the right analog stick as digital button presses (you must also have your IME set to Sixaxis Controller). Most other emulators don't use analog, so you can just use the keyboard emulation exclusively.

Play Android Games with Xbox 360 Controller

How to Play Android Games with Xbox 360 Controller? I have USB OTG Cable and Wired Xbox 360 Controller not working on Samsung I9100 Galaxy S II, Gigabyte GSmart Roma R2 (Plus Edition) and Samsung I9000 Galaxy S.
I ran into a similar issue........
Not all games are external controller compatible........
At the very least you will need an app similar to sixaxis controller (this app is designed to work with ps3/4 pads) to act as interface between the game, device and pad. And IF you can find a suitable app, you'll need to configure the pad in order for it to work.
I only found out about all of this because I use ePSXe to play PS1 games on my phone......ePSXe allows you to configure a wired OTG pad within it's settings, but you're limited to playing only the games that work with the app (ripped PS1 isos). You'll need to research which 'interface' app will do the job.......i was hard pressed to find one.......

As I mentioned in my previous reply, you will need to configure (map) the pads buttons within the apps settings......and remember a lot of Android games simply won't accept an external controller.......
Also, don't forget that 'IME' part shown in the video........
Then it's just a case of trying it out with your chosen game to see if it works......

game controller

hi!
I've recently bought the fire HD 6, and was thinking if there are any compatible bluetooth game controllers.
I was thinking to connect it to the TV and use it as a sort of android game console.
Thank you very much
Root and use a PS3 controller is probably your best bet.
The Ouya controller work just fine. Just press the OUYA button (located on the low center in the controller), and when two light start blinking, search as any device at bluethooth menu.
The Ouya controller has an integrated touchpad and can be used as a mouse on your screen. But if you're planning to play a game, remember it's depend if that game has the controller button mapping or you'll need to use Tincore Keymapper to do it manually.
I already rooted my KHD6, so I did the controller test after root, but I'm pretty sure you don't need the root to make it work. I use the same controller on my NON-ROOTED Fire Stick TV and works just fine.
PS4 Controller works like a charm, Played Pokemon On Myboy for a little while, while it was linked to my Chromecast.
I would say a PS4 Controller works out of the box as well, as I wasent rooted at the time.

I just bought this controller about week ago and it work with HD6 (I only use GBC,GBA, and Drastic emulators). They work good so far. I haven't test any Android games yet, but I assume it work fine. This controller is awesome. I used with my HD6, phone, and laptop. Recommended!
