Any accidental touches on the edge? - Galaxy S6 Edge Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

A question to the lucky owners and to ones who could test it IRL:
Do you make accidental touches on the bottom right (or left if you are left handed) screen (on the edge) while using?
Bonus question: Is it really difficult to hit (eg. back) buttons on the top left edge?

It has great palm rejection, so I don't accidentally hit anything I don't mean to. I have average size and hands and have no issues hitting the buttons.

Has good accidental touch rejection but I have had a few incidents that I do touch the edge by mistake.

Have an S7 edge, and when I use it one handed it happens a lot. I just found an app called "No more accidentally touching" (cant post links, search in google play). It works very well, and add two (configurable) bars at the edges that disable the touch in those sections. A life saver.

[Q] Back button is too close to edge and easily hit with palm

Hi all, I posted this in another Tab 10.1 forum at www.thegalaxytabforum.com but I am also posting this question and concern here to see who else has this problem/concern and if it can be fixed.
I am having an ergonomic problem with this Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 sleek slim design!
While holding the tablet as one intuitively would and trying to type or do touch screen motions I find that the palm areas of my hands always touch the "page back" arrow button at the lower left edge of the screen (on the bottom task bar) and causes it to exit out of the page I am working on. Same goes for the lower right corner edge where the clock/settings icon opens up when my right hand palm leans up against it inadvertently.
I find that Samsung in all their wisdom of trying to make a slim sleek looking design surely messed up on this point! The tablet's screen bordering edge sure looks good, but is way too thin and too close to the active screen area at the lower corners causing one's hands and palms to easily contact those corner icons and inadvertently activate them.
Can anything be done to move those corner icons further away from the corner edges so that these sorts of false touch activations can be eliminated?
The Asus EE Transformer tablet my son has, does not have this problem because the tablet frame is wider and keeps your hand palms further away from falsely touching those corner icons.
Samsung, goofed up here. I hope my suggestion of moving the icons away from these corners can be done in a software OS update.
Your just an idiot who doesn't know how to use it. I have the exact same tablet and it works perfectly. I have no problem with the back button or anything. My brother has the Motorola xoom which has a smaller bezel all around and all be does is use that tablet. He has no problem with it at all. So it doesn't matter if you have a big or small bezel to use the tablet you just have to be smart. And obviously your not so you should just go and return it

What a childish immature response. Totally un-helpful! I think the moderator should ban you if you keep posting like this. At least delete this totally unhelpful post of yours.
if you use the tab on a table your palm should rest on the table surface, same if you use it on your lap.
especially if you're an adult and have big hands
I use my 10.1 with one hand all the time and never run into this problem. To each their own, I suppose.

Well, I don't think my hands are that big but I do not use the tablet at a table nor in my lap looking down at it. I wanted to get a tablet because it is supposed to be light and portable and easily held in your hands to read like a book. Also if one is laying down relaxing on a sofa or in bed taking in some night time surfing whilst going to bed, then some hand holding it up with two hands is required. Sooner or later your palm is going to brush up and touch the screen inadvertently even if you are aware of this issue, the brain easily drifts off every now and then and you can forget for a moment to keep your hands away from the touch screen.
I guarantee you not everyone is going to always use the tablet on a flat table surface or always in their laps. There will be some hand holding positions folks will be using it in.

is this a feature or a defect? Pen tapping screen even before it touches the screen?

Like the title says... Is this a defect or a galaxy note feature?
Sometimes when I'm using the s pen, it seems like it taps the screen even though the pen does not even touch the screen yet. I can recreate the problem especially on the bottom right areas.
What I want to know if this actually a note feature.
It's weird because in those areas I only need to hover the pen and it will click/tap the icons there.
Same issue here with Dot button in Memo thou.

Same here... Bottom right just over the back button ... Driving me nuts
Happens to me too....
It is a feauture if you feel comfy with it. It is a defect if you do not feel comfy with it. I dnt find it to be a defect

There's been several mentions of this defect here on the forums already.
Here's the short explanation: the magnet from the speaker on the back of the phone is screwing with the s-pen signal a little bit in the lower right area of the screen.
Here's the short fix: wrap a tiny piece of aluminum tape around the s-pen, right at the bottom of the button, as seen in this video.
Or you can wait and see if Samsung makes an updated version of the s-pen that doesn't get the interference.

[Q] Faulty Digitizer?

The bottom-most right-most corner of my display (in portrait) is not responsive to touches and is kind of annoying when typing. I have to usually try several times to get the response.
Stock ROM, only rooted. I just reset it again. I changed the lcd density back to 320 to see if that was an issue, formally at 240.
I used the S-Pen to do these drawing to demonstrate the problem area. The results are strange. In portrait the problem exists but when in landscape it doesn't appear to be a problem. Is this a hardware or software issue or anyone else experience this?
The local AT&T shop says it’s definitely not normal and I can go to their local warranty shop but I don’t necessarily want to get a refurbished replacement if the ICS release might fix it.
I dont have a note yet, but personally myself, I would unroot and take it back asap. Hopefully someone on here will be able to offer a better solution soon, but if not, then I would return it. Hope you get it sorted out.
Pretty sure it's the built-in offset. Go to phone settings -> pen options and change the dominant hand to left. I think you'll find that it is now the bottom left corner that won't respond. Also test with the phone upside down, and it should still be one of the bottom corners (but the other side, since you've turned the phone upside down).

Changing the dominance does swap the S-Pen's ability to recognize that corner and changes it to the other corner.
However, it's stll not recognizing my finger touches.
So to confirm, using my finger with the dominance swapped yields the same results as the images posted with the S-Pen.
When rotated to landscape and using my finger, I cannot reach that corner like I can with the S-Pen when rotated to landscape.
I would believe this is a finger touch issue and not to much S-Pen
Actually. I have a slightly bigger problem. Sometimes hovering my spen above the right bottom corner will trigger a touch. Mainly the space. Enter. Backspace. And m keys. I think I'm going to get it swapped out

that's actually been covered, there's a post here about putting aluminum foil tape on your stylus to correct the issue.
AT&T is sending me another one... we'll see what that one does and hope that it's just not my personal perception.
Replacement arrived and does not share the issue

People...Save Your Thumbs....Get Virtual Button Bar...

Posted in Apps section, but I thought I would throw this on General do get the people that might not go over there.
I've had this phone for about 2 weeks, not counting the one week....never mind.
I literally got a huge cramp...I think it's tendonitis, in my main phone hand, from trying to contort to this phone. I am a fervant one-handed user, and I've finally got my phone to a place where I can do about 90% of what I need to do....One of the main apps I utilized is Virtual Button Bar StoreLInk or another softbutton app.. It's basically a set of soft buttons accessible via a small screen overlay on the edge of your screen.
It changes the way I set up my phone because my hand basically stays in one position. So I keep my home clustered.
It works for great for me...but it's going to take a while to get rid of this tendonitis. I'll report back.
Update: I'm now recommending button savior ...
More control...more options....I actually use both.....I have one set one each side so I can have thimbfriendly control for both hands
Swipepad is better in my opinion and it's free.
Edit: Never mind. This has way more functionality. I still would choose Swipepad though, but hitting back isn't a problem for me because I hold my phone with my right hand.

swipepad is good. Great way to have everything on your homescreen hidden.
I don't see how pressing the home button a few times every once in a while could give you anything as "serious" as tendonitis, seeing as the majority of smartphones had physical buttons until around 2011, and when you compare the big easy-to-press Galaxy Note button to the tiny, hard buttons of the Droid X, I don't see how anyone could be complaining, and you wouldn't catch me dead sacrificing one millimeter of this glorious HD screen for anything that can be accomplished by the fabulous buttons protruding the edge of my display.

[Q] Is the S6 Edge easy to use with one hand?

I'm trying to decide between the S6 and the S6 Edge. My heart says edge, but the thing I'm most concerned about is one handed use, which is how I use a phone most of the time.
In the UK the store handsets are clamped at the back so its hard to test. I've noticed a few reviews on YouTube say that it's not great and is easy for your palms to mess with the screen.
Would love some real world input from people who use the edge. Also I'd be likely to put a case like a ringke slim on, would that make it easier?
Got my s6 edge since April and now I'm quite used to holding out with one hand. But still with two hands when composing texts.
I use this s6 edge with 1 hand most of the time
I'm using it with a Spigen case not tried it with out yet

Just thought to try it using no case feels OK oh and I'm using an adapted Google swipe keyboard with the option to leave the numbers on the screen

I have a case round mine which makes it a little larger and I can do most things one handed but easier with two.
Without the case, I can use it one handed but I think with both the s6 and edge it will be harder than say the S5 due to the glass and not the grippy plastic

The s6 edge is easier to hold in one hand than the standard s6 because of the narrower sides. It is not always comfortable to use with one hand (particularly when texting with Fleksy)

How about just general one-handed stuff: entering a url, switching tabs in chrome, refreshing, little things like that?

Easy as pie. However swiping down the notification panel is far easier with two hands than one.
