How to deal with scratches? - Xperia Z2 Tablet Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've just bought a second hand XZ2 Tablet. And it has some slight scratching on the screen. I will be putting a tempered screen protector on it and a flip case. I did last have a z1 compact and a z ultra. And they had a anti shatter film. I presume the XZ2 Tablet has the same. Is there any thing anyone can advise to kind of rub over the top to sort of fill the scratches? Obviously which doesn't hinder the screen usage.
Thanks

Just put a tempered glass one on mine from Amazon. http://amzn.com/B00U8P9NUA

thats a screen protector for the regular xperia z. its misleading in the title as the name of the glass is ultra glass. lol i know armorz is supposed to be coming out with one but they havent replenished stock yet. the armorz one is a bit pricey though. you could also find plenty of them on ebay for pretty cheap. i had planned on getting a tempered glass screen protector, but purchased a warranty instead.
I have the glass-m.
It's really good, easily the best protector I"ve used for the Ultra (the gearmaxx being the worst, then another plastic one which was much better).
Very few fingerprints, hardly ever need to clean it...
Looks very nice. Feels great.
At first it felt like I lost some screen sensitivity, but now I'm not so sure...
I too own a Glass-M on my S4, great screen protector! Feels a thousand times better then the shatterproof sheet. (Even a generic plastic screen protector i have on the ZU is better anyway)
My choice, for Ultra:-
(1) Armorz Stealth Extreme R Tempered Glass:
Pros - round edges
Cons - 0.4mm thickness
(2) SGP GLAS.t Slim Tempered Glass:
Pros - 0.26mm thickness
Cons - sharp edges / not available yet
I am tempted to go for the Glass-M one for $31.50.

I still have the easy peel-off screen film on my Z Ultra....do I simply peel them off then apply the Glass-M ?
What is the shatterproof cover I hear people talking about ?
Thanks guys

Easy peel off... Dude you need too read more...
That shatter proof cover is the original screen protector and it's a pain in the ass to remove.

I bought my on ebay from china it have not got it yet. Maybe I will get it today. It has been at least 15 days.
I bought a tempered glass protector off eBay (from China) as well. It arrived cracked. I contacted the seller, and they sent me a replacement. It took 17 days to arrive, and when I opened the package, it too was cracked! I'm now going to try my luck with the the Glass-M. I'm dying to use a pen/pencil on this thing but wont until I put a tempered glass screen protector on...
I'm a little irritated by how quickly Note 3 accessories became available - including tempered glass protectors. Seems like most of the big names (spigen?) wont be making tempered glass for the ZU....
do you need to remove the standard shatterproof film on the ultra to apply this glass-m protector? In some cases, Sony voids warranty upon removal of this layer.
Has anyone added the glass-m on top of the layer, and does it affect touch sensitivity? certain screen protectors make the screen go crazy, registering random touches.
very interested in the glass-m, but would like to clear up some quesitons first

Unless you remove it, it's applying a tempered glass protector on top of a plastic glass reinforced protector. So you can imagine how the touch would like that combo...
As stated. Removing the shatterproof protection is a pain. But it is totally worth it. I've never had this level of protection and comfort at the same time on any mobile device before.

Touch is not affected by the tempered glass. Using it with a pencil or any metal object registers as if nothing is on top of the screen. I'll post the photo of the brand of my tempered glass.as I forgot already.

Hopefully that will not happen to me.
Just ordered the Glass-M from here http://theglass-m.com/collections/f...-glass-screen-protector-for-sony-xperia-ultra
Hopefully all goes well and I will receive my order in pristine condition. I need this cause I just realize that there is a deep scratch on the generic screen protector that I bought from the telco.
Finally got my Glass-M. the size is smaller than the screen so its not difficult to align with your device. There is a problem with it though, the edges of the glass-m doesnt seem to stick to the device properly. I have it under a hardbound book right now in hopes of make it stick properly.
did you put it on top of your stock screen protector? or took it out?

Any updates? Did you remove the factory protector?
Thanks!
Removed it. Can't stand it not sticking properly and also making the device less sensitive especially on fps games. I originally placed it on top of the ASF. Now I'm just waiting for my screen to be scratched then I'll remove the ASF to finally touch the glass o this phone.

On mobile....
Sounds like glass4m does not have together...
I ordered the front protector for my Z Ultra, they sent me the back. Almost 3 months have passed and they have replied once to my mails but have not corrected the issue.
Watch out, having an issue after the purchase may just leave you in the cold.
S17 bucks down the drain...

z5c screen protector

What Screen protector do you recommend for Z5c? Does the phone have Gorilla Glass or do we absolutely need to attach a screen protector? (I refuse to put the included plastic screen protector on the phone! Just wondering if I risk damaging the screen until a proper glass arrives)
No gorilla glass on Xperia phones. The manufacturer of the tempered glass Sony uses is unknown, as far as I I've heard on the Internets.

This tempered glass is a perfect fit
Roxfit Xperia Z5 Compact Screen Protector (Tempered Glass) https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B015ECYX2O/ref=cm_sw_r_other_awd_3u4gwb655JA4T
Highly recommend tempered glass, coming from z3c. It's a MUST
Save the lame Sony supplied plastic screen guard for when you later resell the phone, its worthless as protection. With tempered glass the tactile feel is as if there's no protector (as you'd expect) highly advised over plastic
This case is a great interim case until the alimighty Devil Case come through.
Orzly® - FlexiSlim Case for SONY XPERIA Z5 COMPACT (2015 SmartPhone Model / Smallest Version / XPERIA Z5 MINI) - Super Slim (0.35mm) Protective Phone Cover in Semi Transparent WHITE https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B015PRSGDU/ref=cm_sw_r_other_awd_gw4gwb3M6HF4H
It's not supurb protection on drop as its only rubber BUT great fit and coverage for sure.
Both items came delivered in 1 and 2 days respectively

Is there a factory fitted screen protector?

Just wondering, so I can wait a while before buying a tempered glass
I just picked up my phone from post office and there is a plastic screen protector inside the box. The phone itself had those factory plastic films at front and back, both I took off.
I think he is asking if it had one like the z3 compact, where you pick at the edge of the screen with a sharp knife and peel off a shutter proof screen protector. Interesting to know, shall I have a pick at mine?
Cmon who is going to be first to pick at their screen corner with a sharp object to see if there is an anti shatter film on the front like with the z3 compact.
I read in a review that a screen protector came with the z5 Compact (I don't remember which review) but I didn't get one in the box. Would be cool if there is on on it already but I'm not ballsy enough to scratch at my screen! The screen does feel different than most phones I've used and feels more slippery. Not sure if that indicates anything.

Tempered glass, screen protector or neither? Looking for advice.

I've just upgraded from my first Android, a chunky and sturdy Samsung Mini 2, to Zuk Z1. Needless to say, I'm super-hyper-worried to scratch its screen. Tbh I don't like the cons of using a protection (less responsive touch? more oily screen?), but from what I've read it's not clear whether Zuk Z1 has Gorilla Glass. Although I'm a careful person, would you advise I buy a protection? If so should I choose a normal screen protector or tempered glass? Thanks in advance
Tempered glass for sure. I'm using those since 2 devices and they feel the same like the original glas.
And they are easy to apply
I bought my zuk z1 in India and seems like a tempered glass was preappllied. It's already there, factory fitted. Can you check to see if you already have one on?

I'm almost sure I don't have any tempered glass pre-applied. It would have been lucky :<
There is no tempered glass preapplied, maybe from that Indian seller but there is no protector.
Tempered glasses are scam. I have one on ZUK Z1. Slight bump and its already chipped. Various sites on the net prove that Tempered glasses do not help much with drops. Its just about scratches. IF you can, get one with oleophobic coating. The normal ones its annoying to remove the oil stains.
I'm using this one since 4 months and it's great in combination with bumper on backside:
https://www.amazon.de/Displayschutz...70167219&sr=8-1&keywords=zuk+z1+displayschutz
It's very easy to apply cause it's like a glass plate to lay on the display. The fingerprints are not as easy to wipe off like without the glass protector, but the reaction is as good as without, so better with protection [emoji106]
Sent from my Z1 using my hand
No, there's no tempered glass already pre-applied as you'd be able to see it next to home button aswell, not only by earphone. It's gorilla glass just poorly applied.
I recommend tempered glass as there's no 'plastic' feeling when using screen and it feels exactly same as original glass. Also if phone falls from non-extreme height there's big chance tempered glass will crack instead of screen.

Supershieldz Tempered Glass Screen Protector

My current phone is a Nexus 6P and I have been using a Spigen case + an intelliArmor tempered glass screen protector. Both products are excellent and I have been thrilled with them (and the phone), but the battery is starting to go on me so I figured it was time for a replacement. After some research I settled on the XZP (G8142).
I was able to order the Spigen case for the XZP, but intelliArmor does not make a screen shield (that I can find), so I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with Supershieldz before.
I looked at getting the Skinomi skin and just using the part for the screen along with the Spigen case, but I really prefer tempered glass.
Looking forward to my first Xperia phone!
** UPDATE **
The protector, phone, and case all came in. The Spigen case is top notch as expected, as is the phone itself.
The screen protector is also fantastic. I tried putting it on the recommended way (using the guide stickers), but I could never get the right alignment using this method. I ended up free-handing it and lining it up as best I could, and I think I got within a half millimeter or so of a perfect application (the bottom is perfect, the top speaker is slightly off but not enough to be annoying or obstruct the speaker). There were absolutely no air bubbles to smooth out, which surprised me.

Is the adhesive just on the edges of the Tempered Glass? Is there some oil-like residue between the screen and glass?
I purchased a very similar Tempered Glass protector to the Supershieldz version and found the adhesive is just on the edges, top/bottom/left and right but the entirety of the screen, where the border is not is free to flex and obviously, with the gap that exists without adhesion has an odd oil-like residue, which many users reported.
I have had my XZP for a week now and have not even used it because I want a proper Tempered Glass protector which has received good reviews, along with a folio/wallet/flip case which has a strong latch/magnet to protect the phone overall, along with waiting for a DRM/TA fix before I stop using the Z5P and move onto my XZP.

Mine has the glue on the edges but there's no oil or anything in the middle.
It looks very similar to the Supershieldz one, might even be a rebrand. It's under the brand name "Panzer Glass".
It works pretty much flawlessly.

The one I purchased is very similar also, but has the cut-out where you can see the Sony 'logo'. Reviews are poor for those, everyone has observed the same issues as myself. I have purchased several other Tempered Glass Protectors, still waiting for them to arrive, different styles and brands to see which is the best fit with the best coverage. I will report back.

I didn't actually notice if the adhesive was along the edges or the entire piece of glass, but it seemed like the whole piece had adhesive when I peeled off the protective plastic before applying.
I have been using the phone with the protector for about two weeks and here are my observations:
I have moved my thumbs with ample pressure across the face of the protector to see if the glass shifts or moves. It hasn't budged.
No oily residue or weird artifacts.
The fit is quite nice. Without a case, the edges would be noticeable, but with the Spigen case on you can hardly tell there is a screen protector.
In bright/direct sunlight or when you hold the phone in bright light just right you will see a grid of dots on the LCD screen - I don't know if this is because of the protector or the screen itself. It doesn't bother me as it is not noticeable the majority of the time.
My account is too new to link to external sites, so just search supershieldz xperia xz premium on Amazon and it should come up.

Appreciate the feedback. I have just taken possession of a Muvit Tempered glass, it is clear without any borders but just the same as the rest. Everyone I have tried thus far has adhesive only on the edges, the larger portion of the screen is free to flex and move and due to that, requires a firmer press and in doing so, you hear a crisp packet like noise, a sort of crunching sound. Really annoying me now, but it is due to the curvature of the screen that we are seeing a lack of good quality glass protectors. For the Z5P I found P-Think on Amazon to be the best, yet to find any suitable candidates for the XZP.
I will order a double pack of Supershieldz soon.
