Still looking, anyone?

Try http://www.getunlocked.com/ I used them for my AT&T S6, but I am pretty sure they support other carriers as well. I contacted the before hand and they said the CANNOT unlock the T-Mobile (USA) S6, but that everything else should be fine. It appears that T-Mobile has their own customer ROM/app for the S6so the regular unlocking sites don't work.
You can always try asking them http://www.getunlocked.com/contact-us/

Hello guys!
My S6 Edge from Netherlands is region locked. Does anyone know how to unlock? It asks for the Pin number.
I'm currently in Brazil.
Thanks

Hi,
Here is what Samsung Netherland Support says:
Send the Email (Netherland Samsung Support Page)
Subject: TAV Ibrahim
Date of Purchase
Serial Number
Model Number
IMEI Number
Reason to Unlock (Why are you Requesting to use another SIM Card)
Invoice (Attached)
Complete Address
In my case, they will check the data, send to Samsung Korea on Friday and Receive the Unlock PIN on next Tuesday.
I'm waiting for my code right now. Hope works.
I suggest who has the same problem contact your sale support page (country where you purchased).

I thought it was now a law here in the US that all cell phones are supposed to be unlocked? Am I misunderstanding something?

me too, eire three

I believe that in the US, it is only required for carriers once the phone is out of contract. At that time, you can then request unlock code. If you want it before then you have to go through a 3rd party.

I work for o2 and as long as it is a contract phone and not pay as you go, you can unlock it anytime by either completing the online form (google o2 'unlockmyiphone') or by calling customer services and requesting them to fill out the form for you. It can take up to 14days for you to receive the code.
Failing that, there are numerous IMEI unlocking websites online who will send the code within 24hours for a small fee.
Regards.

I am presuming that it will not need unlocking to use a Giffgaff network sim as its part of O2 .
Three O2 shops today no stock and no idea if they will receive stock for launch 1st may .

You could use a Rebel Simcard. It's not the best solution but it definately does the job. I used one on my Dell Streak when they were exclusive to O2.
I take it you're getting it as an upgrade direct from O2?
If not open a contract with O2 through Phones4U and you'll get an unlocked device

It is £399 with O2 but will probably be locked
I also asked a popular online unlocking firm what the chances are of unlocking this handset and this was their reply:
This should be no problem at all. That's because there's one main database for all European Samsung Android handsets. We have unlocked the Samsung Galaxy S from all 6 main UK networks.

I don't know if the database will work for SGS II. Anyone know?
I have no previous contract, so just buy o2 payg £399 & unlock £15? (Total=£414)
Why would anyone pay £499 unlocked ?

Because at this stage, nobody is really sure that the 'unlock £15' part of the process will indeed work You could end up with a phone that will not currently work on the sim you may have ( I do understand you have no contract, so if you are happy with O2 payg, fill yer boots).

My Vodafone HD2 came unlocked - that wasn't the problem. The killer was that because it was a Vodafone phone, it could only take updates from Vodafone, and their updates came months after the unbranded ones. Once the Devs got HSPL all sorted out then it wasn't so much of a problem, but that didn't happen overnight.
So be aware - it's not just the network locking that's an issue when you buy a phone from a network.

Thanks for the heads up. I think O2 don't mess around with their handsets. Only Orange, T-Mobile & Vodafone.

This was the same with the first batch of O2 HD2's only accepting O2 specific updates which they changed after the second batch went out as were getting too many complaints. Hopefully they've learned from this and will allow standard manufacturer updates from the start. This wasn't due to particular messing around it was due to the serial numbers being registered with the manufacturer as not being generic therefore updates were refused by them. I doubt Samsung are quite as good as HTC with the regular updates but always good to know you can update when it's available.

Here's a response I received from a query I made of an eBay seller in relation to unlocking the SGS2...
"This is GUARANTEE TO WORK because this code is directly from Samsung and it is permanent. After you unlocked it, you can do software update or anything you like and it will still be unlocked."
Sounds promising...
It does but would like to know for sure before buying.

Successful unlock?
Did anyone hear about any successful SGS2 unlock?
I also read in some places that when you buy PNG from O2 it is SIM free. This was the case when I bought an iPhone 4 when it came out. It was SIM free out of the box.
just either get CPW to price match which they are supposedly doing at £399, or waith two weeks as they are goint to that price soon.
This is very stupid from me but as with the SGS, would it be possible to retrieve the bml3.bak file and unlock?
I'm just assuming samsung is using the same method of hiding the Network Control Key.. maybe they're lazy..

[Q] Anyone tried unlocking EE L920?

Hey guys in the UK
So I brought the Lumia 920 from Phones4U, and I'm testing out which one will give me an unlock code...
But here's the thing: People have stated the EE lock is closest to T-Mobile UK, as the Lumia 920 supports the Virgin Mobile SIM too!
Here's the questions:
1. Has anyone here been lucky enough to get it unlocked from EE?
2. What sites have been used?
I have tried:
cellunlocker - Tried on Orange, may try again for T-Mobile
cellphoneunlocker - Tried on Orange, now trying on T-Mobile
fonezone - Tried on Orange and no luck, apparently no code for T-Mobile on that site
Good luck in getting EE to unlock.... Been trying for over a week.
They keep saying to me, as i didn't buy the phone from them, you have to get the code from p4u.. P4u say get it from EE... Ive even contacted Nokia they say EE should unlock it.
There is one site i found on here but its £40

Yeah I've had no luck with p4u either. My main thing is that I think the carrier lock affects the NFC options for registering a card as I have not been able to get about bank cards on the NFC to associate in wallet

Unlock Code Unavailable
We have refunded your order in full. Please allow 3-4 working days to see cleared funds in your account.
Why?
Unfortunately the unlock code for your IMEI number:*********************************** is not available.
This could be because the phone manufacturer has not yet added it to their database, it is an unsupported model, or you entered the IMEI incorrectly upon ordering.

Just spoken to UnlockFrog who said :
"First batch of handsets are still processing with our supplier for this new service.
We will have the results towards the end of next week. The service is brand new specifically for EE handsets"
They've added me to their mailing list to let me know if they can unlock it. I'm using a white unlocked 920 ATM but I really want a yellow one, all of which are locked to EE in the UK.
Wait for a month and demand EE give you the unlock code free. They are obliged to if you are on a contract phone. I am waiting for a month and will be claiming my unlock code from EE. already tried and they said a month. O2 give you the code immediately or email yo you within a week. There is really no need to use those sites unless you buy pay as you go. If you are buying buying pay as you go why would you buy a network locked phone?

Unlocking for other companies

Hi, does unlocking my cellphone to make it work with all companies lock it in my country? My cellphone is from Chile, I talk with Claro there. I am in Canada and I want to unlock it to Bell or any other companies. If I had it unlocked for Bell, would it work back home?
Ps. if you know of any unlocking services would you please tell me. Thanks :good:

Yes once it is unlocked it will work with any GSM carrier in the world. I am assuming you are talking about a GSM phone here.
Besides unlocking services, usually your home carrier will give you the unlock code for free and the instructions of where to enter in that code in your phone to unlock it, if you tell them you need to unlock it because you are traveling abroad. Usually they want you to have owned the phone for a while (like 6 months for some carriers) before they give you the code though. No harm in trying to ask the customer care.
I asked my home carrier for a unlocking code, they said they would contact the cellphone manufacturer and get it in about 3 weeks, which is too long. Does anyone know of another faster option? Thanks... If I can do it by myself that would be excellent too
Hey thanks for the great information but you know what, I couldn't find my device there... it's a Moto G!

hey, Motorola actually called me and gave me 2 subsidy codes and none worked....!!!! i actually double checked the IMEI number and they said it was correct, so I guess i'll have to use one of them unlock websites.... does anyone knows if eBay is safe to do that?

If you are a AT&T customer/former customer(i e have.had a number) your good you can request unlock code. If your new you have to be with them for x amount of days (40 or so). Or find someone willing to add it to their account so you can unlock assuming you've paid outright. If you were never a customer YMMV but most likely no unless they feel like it then it will be emailed to you

I'm from Argentina so I guess the only option would be to find someone from US who is a ATT customer willing to do the work for me. If any reads these and want to give me a hand with these please contact me via PM.
Typically, the conference organizer will give you instructions about how to obtain a unlock code from them directly. Calling AT&T directly won't help.

That's where mine came from - I was there. Wow, the demo gods did not smile on Samsung
Anyway, no - no info was given, and I honestly doubt any thought was given to how to unlock these "dev" phones for non-AT&T customers. I happen to be on AT&T should I want to use a sim in mine.
If you register on the AT&T forums http://forums.att.com/ then you can send a PM to ATTCustomerCare (http://forums.att.com/t5/notes/privatenotespage/tab/compose/note-to-user-id/192773) and tell them the situation. That team has been the go-to team for "edge case" unlocks. Alternately you can keep trying to call the support number until you reach a supervisor who can ok the unlock, but essentially you're reaching those same people via the forum without the hassle of endlessly calling.
You can get it unlocked using cell unlocker. It took them a few days but they finally sent me an unlock code that worked first try.
I must have been the first one they did because they kept sending me emails asking I had tried it yet. Because I was travelling I had to wait a couple if days.

My fiancé and I are in the same situation. We also got the watches at the Samsung Dev Con, but we're T-Mobile customers. (Also, did you notice that the Note 4s they raffled off were for Verizon?) We already tried calling AT&T, to no avail, and now I've posted on their forums asking for help and I'm sending the customer care people a PM, as recommended in this thread.
Worst case scenario, we get our friend (an AT&T customer) to get the unlock codes. But if it comes to that, we can probably get yours unlocked with ours, if you want. We're happy to help.
I'll post an update if the customer care PM works.
Last time I was at an Microsoft event and with the AT&T phone they gave me, there is a note inside told me to email someone with IMEI for unlock. I did and they quickly email back with unlock code. You should contact your meeting organizer, not AT&T or Samsung support as they have no clue.

If you are not an AT&T customer and are on T-Mobile or Sprint, I would recommend selling the AT&T version and getting one from your Carrier that way the Radio Bands will work for you.
If you are out of country, I would recommend selling the AT&T USA Version as some others have posted where they can't get apps if the Country doesn't match their Phone, or something like that.
That being said, if you are looking at selling the AT&T one cheap, send me a PM. I bought one, had it about 6 hours before the wife confiscated it for her selfish purposes.

In theory it should work just as a unlocked phone would on whatever network so any problems you have with unlock on AT&T will be the same like how they handle messages

I am from Norway and got mine at the Samsung Developer Conference. I unlocked mine using cellunlocker.net. I received the network lock code less than an hour after submitting the order and it worked like a charm.
HOWEVER: For other non-US-citizens, you need to check whether the AT&T-device has support for your local GSM-bands. Here in Norway we have GSM 900/1800 and the AT&T device is only GSM 850/1900 from what I can find on the net. Which matches my end result of not being able to connect to my network even after unlocking.

That's not right. If you use AT&T messenger on the phone (as AT&T wants you to do), you will not be able to reply from the watch. So, you will have to switch back to the Samsung stock Messages app.
MMS might be a problem but regular text SMS won't be a problem. For MMS, you may need to add AT&T MMS APN.

i purchased a white S6 EDGE from Rogers. My question is, is it possible to sim unlock it for free? I saw threads about older samsung devices and methods to unlock them but im wondering if they will work with the S6.
I'm talking about a factory sim unlock and not rooting the device. Would flashing the firmware from another carrier make it work on their network?

As of now there is no "free" unlock. Flashing another firmware will not unlock the phone as the bl/modem partition will fail to flash. Furthermore, the unlock/provisioning info is stored in the EFS partition which is not modified in a firmware flash. Easiest way to unlock is to purchase an unlock code online and use a sim from another carrier to trigger the unlock prompt where you can enter the code.
I personally used SwiftUnlocks and the code worked flawlessly.

I'm with TELUS. And, yes, it's perfectly safe. Just a code they send you within 24 hours of your purchase. I have a Bell sim for work and am now able to use both with my phone with no problems.

swiftunlocks.com is at $15 if you're trying to save money. Select the "Unlock Samsung Canada" option. That's the one I used and it worked perfectly.

Have you already tested your EDGE to confirm that it's actually locked?
I purchase 3 S6 EDGE's from Rogers and all came unlocked. Tested with Bell and Telus SIM Cards.
I actually didn't receive it yet so I was being proactive. I had purchased a nexus phone from rogers in the past that came unlocked. Let's home my s6 edge is too.

I was wondering, how long did it take you to get your phones from Rogers? Looking at their forums it looks like there is a shortage of S6 and Edge phones. Some people claim to have waited over a month already and are nowhere near the top of the waiting list. Sounds like i might get my phone in 2016 at this rate..
I got the 1st one on release day. The 2nd took 10 days and my 3rd one came one day after ordering it.

Cellunlocker.net ftw!! Have been using them for years, great rapid cheap service, never had any issues and I even got my last code for free because i filmed the unlocking process and posted on youtube. Contact their customer service, they might reduce the price if you film
