S-off - AT&T HTC One (M9)

So after doing some searching is Sunshine the only S-off method available right now for the ATT M9 phone?

I believe sunshine works with all variants. all you have to do is download the apk and it will run some tests and tell you if it can s-off before you even purchase it. its a pretty much fool proof. if not it will tell you what you need to do to get it ready for s-off. and from what i see the only one it doestn work for is verizon
just go HERE to download the apk, install and let it tell you one way or the other

Yes you are right. No free method for this device. Also you need to unlock your bootloader, install TWRP,root before and then Sunshine.
Good luck

Or find one of the many people like me with a Java card and never deal with htcdev and warranty to begin with. There's quite a few cards out there now and I have met up with plenty of xda people now to do s-off and unlock for them.

Hmmm... Happen to know anyone around Austin, Tx with such a card?

I cant unlock the bootloader through htcdev

Hi, I can not at any price, unlock your bootloader ...
You worded this kinda weird..
But you can certainly send me your phone along with some money and I'll send it back unlocked.
You said any price right?

Or at least S-OFF anyway.
Some users aren't able to use the htcdev unlock that have had the mainboard in their phones replaced, but now that unknownforce has his universal recovery tool (URT) available for both the CDMA and GSM models of the Evo 3D he can go straight to S-OFF without needing to unlock. And there is a zip file available that will unlock the bootloader once S-OFF, but there is really no need to do that, unless someone is paying you $2K to do it.

Newbie rooting questions..

Hi. Just after a few answers really.. I've just recently upgraded from a Desire HD, which i rooted and ROM'd using the now non existent Advanced hack kit.. Now that was easy enough to do as it was one piece of kit that did everything, but i've done a little reading about rooting and ROM'ing the One Max and i'm a little daunted as it's a new phone and don't fancy bricking it at this stage and have heard various people saying there are a few ways to do it..
Now i know i have to visit HTCDEV and sign up to unlock the bootloader, which i've yet to do.. But i just need to know if there's a similar one stage program after unlocking the bootloader like the hack kit on the previous phone. If it's too involved i won't bother, but would be nice to know if there is one..
Any help would be appreciated.

You don't have to visit HTC Dev to unlock if your on Verizon. You can use rumrunner found in the Original Android Dev section to unlock, S-Off and root your device... If your not with Verizon, I believe you need to use HTC Dev and then you can use rummrunner or fire water also in Original Android Dev section.

Yeah i'm in the UK so no Verizon here...
So what you're saying is then, once i've unlocked the bootloader via HTCDEV, that i can use rumrunner to do the whole rooting thing in one program?? What about this, this seems to look similar to the advanced hack kit?

I'm in UK and used firewater to temp root. unlock and s-off. then after that installed custom recovery and then rooted through that. then custom rom'd. it is quite involved as you need HTC drivers working fastboot and adb etc I haven't heard of anyone using the tool you quoted since I've had phone so it's up to you. and the tool probably won't be just a one click. what are your details in hboot?

I didn't have luck with that toolkit, but give it a try. I know rummrunner works.

If you are a current AT&T account holder, just go through their website to get the SIM unlock code from free.
One alternative, you can s-off and use the method posted here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2708572
Although with sunshine being the only current working s-off method, and costing $25; if this is your only reason for s-off, it might not be worth the cost versus other methods.

If you have hboot 2.49 I believe the only way to achieve s-off is to use 'Sunshine' which costs $25. Firewater servers are closed so you can't use that anymore.
woowwww that bad, am a foreigner and live outside the United States and get 25 dollars is very difficult, is there any way to do it for free?

Flyhalf can you help?
Hi Flyhalf205.I am writing to you because recently i found that my Htc One Max needs to be returned to warranty but the phone is rooted with a custom rom.The problem is that i need to remove the tampered and unlocked flags also to return it completely stock so i can return it to warranty.Yesterday i started researching how to remove these flags but i found that my phone is S-ON and it must be S-OFF to start with the process. There is a rumrunner.us site where i can S-OFF my phone (downloaded the Universal Version rumrunner_HTC_0.5.0.zip) it says to me that i need to update the program otherwise i wont be able to S-OFF my phone and remove the Tampered,Unlocked flags. Can you please write down a message to me where u have explained how to proceed....If you also have some toolkit that could help me i will be thankful.

Can anyone help a noob? Verizon One max 4.4.2 locked bootloader

I am so lost. I rooted my Rezound about 3 years ago and flashed ROMs on it pretty often, but now I don't even know where to start on my One max. Got as far as getting my identifier token from HTCdev, but Verizon blocked my device.
I know there's a solution called Sunshine that I can pay for, but I'm pretty broke. Is there any other solution?
Please be kind. We were all new once!

Sorry man but the only way to root the verizon max is to pay for sunshine.
I agree with flyhalf205. Sunshine is well worth it and makes it super simple to s-off.
Thanks, guys. I guess I know what I want for Christmas

The forum is filled with topics you can search and find the information you need. The only way to s-off is to use sunshine. http://theroot.ninja/apks/SunShine-latest.apk
After that flash TWRP and backup and flash a custom rom.
On my country has another way must cheaper than 25$ pay for sunshine or java card. I'ts called Xtc Clip 2. With 100$ to buy this box, you can s-off, super Cid unlimit any HTC devices, any Hboot in 2 minutes. So. ..some Repair services shop bought the Clip 2 and open S-off service with the cost 0.50$. Just S-off my Max Hboot 2.49 morning. Love it:fingers-crossed:
(Sorry for my English)
