Bootloop PLEASE HELP - Fire HD 6 and 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I think I screwed myself over big time! But maybe one of you out there might be nice enough as to help me. PLEASE! Let's begin. So, Yesterday I rooted my Fire HD 6 and everything turned out to be working just fine. I installed a custom boot animation, did a few system modifications and everything was working fine. But then, the next day (today) I tried to install Xposed and rebooted and got a bootloop. :crying: So then I tried hard reseting it and now I'm back to the fire boot animation but still and solid bootloop. Any help will be accepted. PLEASE HELP ME! AND IF YOU DO COMMENT ON THIS, THANKS FOR TAKING TIME TO HELP. Help Please. Thanks!

Just did that. No Go Still stuck at fire booting screen. :crying:

Might be broken
I don't think you'll have anyway to fix it. Xposed modifies system files, but I believe factory reset only wipes the data partition. Unless there is a way to resinstall the OS, there might not be any way to get out of the bootloop.

i think my kindle is brick :crying:
goodbye kindle fire 6 club, i don't think we can reflash rom because amazon don't allow unlock bootloader we can't flash custom recovery
i will never buy any amazon devices

Does this maybe help? When I connect my Fire (Amazon Fire HD 6) to my computer, and run: adb devices, I get:
List of devices attached
???????????? no permissions
I'm not sure if this is helpful or not but just decided to throw it out there.

Actually I think you can reflash because when you connect the Fire to a Windows Computer and then turn it off it comes up with some sort of driver but doesn't look like anyone has the specific driver installed yet.

Of course there are drivers, but you don't have the software. For example, HTC phones have RUU's which will completely wipe and reinstall a clean system. Same thing with LG kdz's. There's nothing like that for a Fire because Amazon doesn't release them. (or they don't get leaked)

You only need an unlocked bootloader to flash custom roms. In fact, I think a locked bootloader is required to reflash stock system.

If I can some how get to fastboot I should be fine but since I factory reset the Fire, I don't have permissions to use adb.

A factory reset should always be last resort because of exactly this.
Sent from my DROID RAZR M using XDA Free mobile app

Exactly.
Also, if we had access to fastboot, alot of things would be easier. We could've already flashed a custom recovery and you wouldn't be in this mess. I feel that your best bet is to return it on warranty (if there is warranty) and tell them an update got messed up.

I don't know how, but I managed to recover from a bootloop. I factory reset via the recovery menu twice, and finally got back in

Has anyone tried entering fast boot the same way the kfhd 8.9 is entered? Powered down with a PC sending the command thru USB?
I'm sorry I don't own this device o just follow it.

No, but I'll give it a whirly-whirl

I do not know if this would work or even the steps, but you can download the stock firmware from here: www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html/ref=hp_left_v4_sib?ie=UTF8&nodeId=201596860
Also the ????????????? Besides your device from "adb devices" just means you need to install the driver for it. That should not be too hard to find out how to do. But really I think you'd need the fastboot drivers more. But in the past I have fixed a bootloop by just looking at the logs to figure out where the crash is coming from via adb logcat, then fixing that issue. But since this is using xposed it'd probably be too complicated to fix manually. Don't ask me for drivers tho cause I use Linux.
Note: the firmware update downloads as a bin file but it is just a zip file. A fastboot update might actually work with it since it is signed by Amazon.
Something like:
Wipe your device. (only if necessary)
fastboot -w
Update your ROM.
fastboot update

I've gotten into fastboot on this device. I think it was either "adb reboot bootloader" or "adb reboot fastboot" that works. Keep in mind when in fastboot mode the fire hd6 screen is completely blank.

I use Linux as well (Fedora 21) and I still get the all the question marks. But if you guys keep talking about fastboot, do you think it would be possible to get in to fastboot if I bought a fastboot cable or made one?

No OS Installed. Stuck In Bootloop. Offering Donation To Helper.

Hey people.
I rooted my ANDROID HTC ONE from T mobile, using a guide I found on here and the all in one toolkit.
I am using TWRP newest 2.5.0.0, I can access the bootloader and recovery, and have been sat here now looking for answers for about 5 hours.
It freezes on the HTC quietly brilliant screen.
Also says that there is no OS installed.
I am looking for help via TEAMVIEWER, or someway to get my phone working.
If you need more information please let me now ASAP so I can give it you.
UPDATE: Okay people I successfully installed the XenonHD ROM and it is now stuck in bootloop i have tried clearing the cache and it doesn't do anything, this is the only ROM that is currently working.
I have searched the net searched the post and still nothing.
I am almost got my phone back guys and am willing to DONATE or repay the favour via modding something through XBOX or whatever I can.
Please contact me soon as possible.
I am still on TEAMVIEWER.

There have been a lot of posts on similar issues. You can "sideload" a ROM via ADB commands from your computer. If you can get into recovery, your phone can be fixed. I haven't done this myself (still stock), but do a search on google or xda on sideloading a ROM from ADB.

Did you clear the cache? Also, I've seen some people have to format the partitions.
EDIT: But formatting does not seem to be needed if you sideloaded successfully.

Sorry, I've not even rooted my phone, and I would not want to use your device as a learning tool. Let me look around and see if I can find a nandroid backup.
EDIT: Nope, I don't see one. Try opening a thread requesting a nandroid back for your recovery.

You have to be careful with No o.s installed .
Normally if u reboot when u see that you'll brick.
Without a o.s you have no bootloader..
I bricked my s3 and had to jtag it when it said no o.s I rebooted and black blank screen nothing.
I've had this happen also when choosing format system and format data /media some reason it botches the boot up .
My only fix was to sideload a rom or wipe factory and restore a nandroid .

my recomendation is that you get s -off and supercid asap so next time you run into a similar problem you can just install any ruu(note only do this if your phone has no official ruu) and work it out from there.

What you need to do is this exactly .
Dload a rom on pc reboot recovery on phone first .IMORTANT FIRST FORMAT SYSTEM.
Then when that's done choose factory reset.
Rename the rom to Rom.zip or anything you want but make sure it says.zip
Sometimes sideload won't work if roms not renamed , that's mentioned in another thread about sideloading.
Then sideload the rom
Let it load and install .
When it reboots itl take a while .
I just did this to my HTC one the other day after I got stuck after formating data media .

Yeah my phone is currently working now, but I have no play store nor do I now if my phone is rooted.
I have a custom ROM on it XenonHD. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2290785
That one.
Just currently trying to get to grips on how to work it and that.
I can't download the playstore because it says it is currently installed but it is nowhere to be seen.

Can't boot into Recovery, Bootloader, Download, or Fastboot! Why?

I have an LG Optimus Fuel (LG L34C) from Straightalk running Android 4.4. This phone is (as far as I know) the same as the LG Optimus Zone 2 from Verizon Prepaid.
I couldn't find a halfway decent manual for the LG L34C so I followed the LG Optimus Zone 2 Manual to enter Recovery mode. When I held the buttons on the L34C, it would boot, show the LG logo, then shut off, show the LG logo, and do it again. As long as the buttons were held in would loop.
So I downloaded the ADB and tried to do it from there.
"adb reboot recovery" brings up the classic "No Command".
"adb reboot bootloader" just reboots it.
"adb reboot download" just reboots it.
"adb reboot fastboot" just reboots it.
What the heck is going on! I'm going crazy trying to figure this out. Why can't I access any of the special menus?
Oh, and TowelRoot didn't work to root the phone either.
I tried to enter Recovery Mode on my Nexus 7 (2012) and noticed that I also get the "No Command" prompt. I was then able to hold 'Power' and press 'Volume Up' to enter Recovery mode.
I tried this, and every other imaginable button combination, on the LG Optimus Fuel and had no luck whatsoever.
Is it possible that this stuff has been disabled by LG?

Is your device activated. Straight Talk said that reset via recovery (it's in the phones manual...) would work after activated, but that seems like BS.
full user guide from LG
Okay I got the full user guide that was NOT included this is the LG Full guide. Just Click it, had to put it on 4shared as it is too large to upload as .pdf on here.
Root worked for me after I followed this guide. http://www.androidarea51.com/all-things-root/working-root-for-lg-optimus-fuel-woot/ Make sure you change the values in post #1, and remounting /system as explained in reply #1.

now that i think about it my device was bricked.... maybe this is a special recovery designed to act only when problems are detected in the boot sequence?
Well, looks like I'm in the same boat now, lol. Going against everything I've learned in the 5 years messing with Android, I had a non-thinking DOH! moment and changed the screen density. After reboot, I just have a bootlooping cheap paperweight for the time being. I can get into recovery, but there's no menu options. I am going to try to push the backed-up build.prop.
They really have this one locked down. I haven't found an OTA zip in my searches yackaro, but I'll keep an eye out for you.
root for lg fule kinda works
I got an lg fule from walmart and decided to root it(never done it befor on any thing)I tried for at least 6 hrs and tied poot z4 all kinds of apks and finely I get towelroot to work but I cant get full acces its says setuid attribute is NOT present BUT root user ownership is present. root access is NOT correctly configured for this file! what is wrong and what do I need to do? I have been using the phone for a week downloading apps from blackmarket and googls app sometimes its kinda slow but It wont let me move systems apps to sd,can delet but not movei have titanium bu supersu busybox pro force2sd esfx and rommaneger how or can I gain full root for kitkat 4.4 lg fuel?
It is possible that TracFone (StraightTalk is a subsidiary of TracFone) is using special bootloader code to lock users out of recovery mode. I know that T-Mobile did something like that with some lower-to-mid-range LG phones.

I can't (well, couldn't - I'm soft bricked right now) even boot into bootloader. To get full root, I think we need an unlocked boot loader. However, "ADB reboot bootloader" doesn't work, right now, as well as most of all the other commands.
I was able to reboot into recovery, but there wasn't any text. I'm working on getting the fuel booting again, but I haven't found anything that works yet. The hard key combo that LG describes to hard reset doesn't work. And I've tried many other hard key combinations, but nothing works so far. [emoji20]

Yes, what I meant is they might be blocking both recovery, and boot loader mode...

True. They probably are. I don't know why they would block at least hard factory reset, though. But then again, since we paid for our device (albeit only $30) seems like we could have more freedom with it. Oh well.
LG has fastboot locked out. I was browsing the LG G2 forums when I found that people are able to get to fastboot by zeroing out their 'laf' partition and forcing the phone into fastboot (because aboot can't find it) where we can then flash a custom recovery.img hopefully. I have the recovery partition extracted and replaced /sbin/recovery with CWM and repacked. I just need to get into fastboot to test it. I will get a second phone from walmart to dev with, they're only $30. if anyone has a dev phone to test it on, read on...
This is theory and hasen't been tested. We may not even be able to run custom recovery or fastboot.
If anyone wants to pick up here be sure you have fastboot and adb installed and have some dev knowledge, not for noobs like me.
backup your laf partition to an external SD card (insert a micro SD)
Code:
dd if=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/laf of=/storage/external_SD/laf.img
pull laf.img to your computer as a backup and to use later in fastboot
wipe your laf partition [I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOU KILL YOUR PHONE]
Code:
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/laf
reboot your phone and connect it to your computer.
your phone SHOULD (I have not tested this) boot into fastboot as a failsafe.
on your computer
Code:
fastboot flash laf laf.img
Code:
fastboot reboot
phone should reboot back to normal.
This will test that we can in fact get to fastboot.
STOCK laf, boot & recovery files to look at. The included repacker does not repack the images properly. I use linux tools for repacking.

Sounds like we are a little closer, however you can push a .img thru adb already I know some people that did a mako build only problem is it bricked it.

It's the new security features of kitkat. Only allows apps to access their own folders. Try SDFix (root app from play store ). I now can read, write, copy to/ from sd or system.

Some things that I noticed that were missing (besides /sbin/recovery). There is no flash_image, dump_ image, or erase_ image in /system/ bin. Usually use flash_ image in terminal or in fastboot. Don't know if these binaries are generic, or device specific (partitions). Could copy from other device, but don't know if they will work properly. Glad I'm not alone in this.

What cwm are you going to use? Optimus Zone? Or did you compile it for the fuel?

I pulled the one in the Zone since that phone is most similar to ours, However I have a feeling the key bindings won't be correct, so I may still have to compile from source. I pulled the git for TWRP but haven't made changes to it yet. Its been a busy week at work and its only monday.

Those also don't exist in the stock recovery for the Optimus Zone. It looks as if busy box was added to the Zone CWM recovery now that I have looked at it closer. Its been a WHILE (Samsung Vibrant with Team Whiskey) since I built a recovery image.

Yeah, we might only get one shot at success (before jtag ), so it's probably best to compile from our recovery and source. I used Apktool to decompile recovery (dd if =dev/ block/ mmcblk0p17 of =/cache/ testrecovery/recovery.img). Ramdisk has./ sbin/recovery. Copied that to /Sbin/ . Disappears after reboot. Haven't yet decompiled boot.img. Hoping to find "boot", and fastboot. More later.

Do you know anything about the Loki tool by Dan Rosenberg:
https://github.com/djrbliss/loki/blob/master/README.txt
Have to admit that I'm not quite this educated, but that looks promising.
Edit: This is like having to root your phone twice. Lol
EDIT: Don't nuke laf yet! I dd and decompiled it (had to rename it to boot.img in Apktool). There are some interesting images (png) in res folder. I'm gonna dd aboot and abootb, and see what's there. Gotta go to work soon. Probably more tomorrow.

Thanks for all your work. Im also very interested in being able to boot into stock recovery. Mainly to be able to preform a factory reset. Do you know of an alternative method to do a factory reset at this time since booting into any recovery isnt possible ATM?

z016D TWRP

i found this trwp recovery floating around i dont know who made it.
it boots fine but no touch screen hopefully someone can fix it

Ok Thanks. I am in and generating a backup. The touch screen was working for me mostly. It won't let me select Micro SDCard to save my backup.
Yeah like I said it need some repair I am pretty sure the mount points aren't perfect and I didn't compile it I had to use an otg and mouse to navigate

What I did to navigate was I had to push the power button then it would bring the screen up where you can swipe the bottom to unlock the screen and use touchscreen. Navigating the storage was odd because it shows it is stuck on Internal storage, but If i click on SDCard, it will take me to that directory. I hope there is a nice update to this is the near future, so we don't have to access it through "adb reboot recovery"
You can flash it if you like I just don't trust this copy yet waiting for an update before I flash it
You can use" fastboot flash recovery twrp.img" to flash rather than "fastboot boot twrp.img " to boot it

Oh man you were so right. I had it flashed and it caused me all kinds of problems, like booting the screen upside down etc. I was finally able to find the recovery.img in another thread and get back the stock recovery. I think I will also wait until there is a more stable TWRP version.
I always use boot to test and I always backup my recovery before flashing because I had that happen to me before

The 20170218 recovery works perfectly with my phone (6/64gb, 820). The first one posted in the OP worked, but was a bit glitchy. The updated one has working SD reading and touchscreen works without having to lock it first.
Could someone please tell me why twrp is booting upside down on my device, and how do I fix it? I just tried to run it in fastboot boot twrp-3.0.3-0-Z016D-20170218.img and once again it loads upside down, however the touch screen is where it normally is suppose to be, which makes it very difficult to navigate the menus. It is very frustrating. This has happened to me multiple times this week. I can't seem to get it to boot/load properly.

I really don't want to wipe everything and start all over from scratch because everything else is working great right now. I guess if there is no easy solution, then I will just leave it alone. I ran it with fastboot and then made a backup and saved it on my microSD card. But I am worried if I wipe everything and start all over again, then I will have to call my bank again to verify my cards for Android pay. I am running the stock firmware version 1698, with stock recovery, an unlocked bootloader, & rooted. Also have Magisk & Titanium Pro installed, and I verified that Andoid pay works for me. (I already bought something using Android pay).

I flashed Magisk v11.1 with TWRP, then installed Magisk Manager from the Google Play Store, after I rebooted my device. I did that by booting in to TWRP with fastboot to flash the .zip file. I did not flash TWRP to install Magisk.

i think i bricked my phone and i keep making it worse the more i research

long story short
htc desire 610, rooted, bootloader unlocked
needed to bypass safetynet
used magisk 12.4 worked fine, new update came
magisk no longer worked, forced me to update
update bricked my phone, bypassed this by reflashing rom in recovery
researched why new magisk update was being stubborn, one suggested updating my TWRP to latest build
updated TWRP, flashed the img while in recovery, ended up putting recovery into my boot (following a guide and wasnt paying attention)
phone now stuck in bootloop, can only go in recovery
wiped and formatted everything, decided to use adb sideload as its worked wonders for me before to try and put my rom back in
adb sideload wont detect phone, after many troublesome hours i decided to follow yet another guide i found about installing a RUU file into my phone to recover
followed guide step by step, turns out htc phones need bootloader locked, wasnt mentioned in guide

if i factory reset my phone in android recovery mode (not TWRP, the one with the 4 androids) on a phone that doesnt have an OS installed there isnt some miracle chance it would revert to stock rom would it? the only thing on my phone is TWRP and i was using CM12 before everything spiraled out of control
update - phone can access TWRP so im back to square one, i tried RUU i tried adb sideload and i also tried the folliwing programs
sdkmanager
SP flash tool (cant be used with htc)
windroid toolkit
USDDeview
ODIN
i just want to start over and try again but i cant seem to fix this
No, factory reset just reinstalls the OS that was on the device. If you brick the device it doesn't have an OS to reinstall.
Unfortunately, I can't help you very much as I wasn't able to fix my Galaxy S4 that was bricked trying to unroot as my carrier data was slow and I couldnt find the series of files including Bootloader and OS that I used on my Galaxy Discover that fixed it (obviously galaxy s4 series of files) as Odin will flash stock os and with some work around flash custom os.

I don't really know adb very much as I haven't really had much experience with it.
Will probably be picking up a nexus 6 and rooting it since those are 100% stock Android and are easy to root and unbrick etc I will definitely be getting more experience with adb and root

No keyboard after Le Max 2 system reset

I did a factory reset of my Le Max 2 when it was freezing up intermittently. After a successful reboot, it got to the stage where it was asking for Internet access to log in to my LeEco account and continue with the process, but all attempts at inputting the password on the Wi-Fi link did not bring up the keyboard. I am now stuck at this point. Can someone please, point me to how I can activate the keyboard, or proffer some alternative solution(s) to my problem? I cannot proceed without the keyboard.

Was your phone rooted? And if so, did you also delete the built in keyboard app?
If you answered yes to both questions, then, that's the root (no pun intended) of your problem. A factory reset just deletes user data, and doesn't recover system apps you had uninstalled before. So if you delete a system app and factory reset your phone, that system app will still be missing. Lots of people have found themselves in the past with no launcher just because of this.
If you can connect to your phone through adb (I think you should be able to do so while on recovery mode) I think that there's a command to install an apk file from adb shell, but I never had to do that. Or you can look for a flashable zip that does the same from TWRP and installs a keyboard.
If this doesn't work, or you can't do it, I guess your only chance is to use Qualcomm recovery mode and get the phone back to a true factory state. There's a thread with tutorials and advice.

Make sure bootloader unlocked. Go to Developer option and enable OEM unlock. Google bootloader unlock using PC and follow.
Then after unlock, flash TWRP using your PC.
Boot into TWRP and flash root.
Then download flashify to flash the TWRP again. I do this because the TWRP cannot stick.
Anyway,if you already have TWRP, just flash ROM and then flash gapps inside twrp.
Thanks everyone for the responses and suggestions.
I was able to get the phone back using the procedure outlined by gizmochina.com on how to unbrick the Le Max 2.
