No keyboard after Le Max 2 system reset - LeEco Le Max 2 Questions & Answers

I did a factory reset of my Le Max 2 when it was freezing up intermittently. After a successful reboot, it got to the stage where it was asking for Internet access to log in to my LeEco account and continue with the process, but all attempts at inputting the password on the Wi-Fi link did not bring up the keyboard. I am now stuck at this point. Can someone please, point me to how I can activate the keyboard, or proffer some alternative solution(s) to my problem? I cannot proceed without the keyboard.

Was your phone rooted? And if so, did you also delete the built in keyboard app?
If you answered yes to both questions, then, that's the root (no pun intended) of your problem. A factory reset just deletes user data, and doesn't recover system apps you had uninstalled before. So if you delete a system app and factory reset your phone, that system app will still be missing. Lots of people have found themselves in the past with no launcher just because of this.
If you can connect to your phone through adb (I think you should be able to do so while on recovery mode) I think that there's a command to install an apk file from adb shell, but I never had to do that. Or you can look for a flashable zip that does the same from TWRP and installs a keyboard.
If this doesn't work, or you can't do it, I guess your only chance is to use Qualcomm recovery mode and get the phone back to a true factory state. There's a thread with tutorials and advice.

Can't you just flash the ROM again?

Thanks for your input.
I did not delete any apps, when I factory-reset the phone. It was previously rooted with TWRP, but I had removed root for more than six months now.
Can you kindly point me to the link containing the Qualcomm recovery mode?

Appreciate if you could provide guidance on flashing the ROM at this stage of recovery?

I have connected the phone to the PC, which detected it after updating the drivers. The issue now is that there are no visible partitions. Any suggestions on how to get my Le Max 2 back?

Make sure bootloader unlocked. Go to Developer option and enable OEM unlock. Google bootloader unlock using PC and follow.
Then after unlock, flash TWRP using your PC.
Boot into TWRP and flash root.
Then download flashify to flash the TWRP again. I do this because the TWRP cannot stick.
Anyway,if you already have TWRP, just flash ROM and then flash gapps inside twrp.

Thanks everyone for the responses and suggestions.
I was able to get the phone back using the procedure outlined by gizmochina.com on how to unbrick the Le Max 2.

Bootloop PLEASE HELP

I think I screwed myself over big time! But maybe one of you out there might be nice enough as to help me. PLEASE! Let's begin. So, Yesterday I rooted my Fire HD 6 and everything turned out to be working just fine. I installed a custom boot animation, did a few system modifications and everything was working fine. But then, the next day (today) I tried to install Xposed and rebooted and got a bootloop. :crying: So then I tried hard reseting it and now I'm back to the fire boot animation but still and solid bootloop. Any help will be accepted. PLEASE HELP ME! AND IF YOU DO COMMENT ON THIS, THANKS FOR TAKING TIME TO HELP. Help Please. Thanks!

I don't think you'll have anyway to fix it. Xposed modifies system files, but I believe factory reset only wipes the data partition. Unless there is a way to resinstall the OS, there might not be any way to get out of the bootloop.

goodbye kindle fire 6 club, i don't think we can reflash rom because amazon don't allow unlock bootloader we can't flash custom recovery

Does this maybe help? When I connect my Fire (Amazon Fire HD 6) to my computer, and run: adb devices, I get:
List of devices attached
???????????? no permissions
I'm not sure if this is helpful or not but just decided to throw it out there.

Actually I think you can reflash because when you connect the Fire to a Windows Computer and then turn it off it comes up with some sort of driver but doesn't look like anyone has the specific driver installed yet.
Of course there are drivers, but you don't have the software. For example, HTC phones have RUU's which will completely wipe and reinstall a clean system. Same thing with LG kdz's. There's nothing like that for a Fire because Amazon doesn't release them. (or they don't get leaked)
---------- Post added at 06:18 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:14 PM ----------
You only need an unlocked bootloader to flash custom roms. In fact, I think a locked bootloader is required to reflash stock system.

If I can some how get to fastboot I should be fine but since I factory reset the Fire, I don't have permissions to use adb.
A factory reset should always be last resort because of exactly this.
Sent from my DROID RAZR M using XDA Free mobile app
Exactly.
Also, if we had access to fastboot, alot of things would be easier. We could've already flashed a custom recovery and you wouldn't be in this mess. I feel that your best bet is to return it on warranty (if there is warranty) and tell them an update got messed up.
I don't know how, but I managed to recover from a bootloop. I factory reset via the recovery menu twice, and finally got back in
Has anyone tried entering fast boot the same way the kfhd 8.9 is entered? Powered down with a PC sending the command thru USB?
I'm sorry I don't own this device o just follow it.

No, but I'll give it a whirly-whirl
I do not know if this would work or even the steps, but you can download the stock firmware from here: www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html/ref=hp_left_v4_sib?ie=UTF8&nodeId=201596860
Also the ????????????? Besides your device from "adb devices" just means you need to install the driver for it. That should not be too hard to find out how to do. But really I think you'd need the fastboot drivers more. But in the past I have fixed a bootloop by just looking at the logs to figure out where the crash is coming from via adb logcat, then fixing that issue. But since this is using xposed it'd probably be too complicated to fix manually. Don't ask me for drivers tho cause I use Linux.
Note: the firmware update downloads as a bin file but it is just a zip file. A fastboot update might actually work with it since it is signed by Amazon.
Something like:
Wipe your device. (only if necessary)
fastboot -w
Update your ROM.
fastboot update

I've gotten into fastboot on this device. I think it was either "adb reboot bootloader" or "adb reboot fastboot" that works. Keep in mind when in fastboot mode the fire hd6 screen is completely blank.

Oneplus Two - Solution for Hard Bricked Device

Hard brick for OPT happens when you change critical partitions. It will follow improper firmware flash or accidental erase of certain partitions. The phone won't show any response when hardbricked.
The solution for OPT is similar to OPO - you just need a Qualcomm driver and a recover package. The only full recovery package available is very big and it restore the phone to Hyrdogen OS, with everything wiped. So it would not be very attractive.
Fortunately, thanks to this post from Chinese supporting forum, a minimal version of restore package is provided. It does not wipe user data and guarantee a recovery entry. you would normally be freed using this package. if not, please use the full package in the end of the post
Download link for driver
Download link for Recovery tool
uncompress the files to a local folder.
First step, turn off drive signature enforcement in windows 8/8.1/10. Tutorial Here
Second step, hold the power key for 20 seconds to force turn off power. connect OPT to usb, hold volume+ and power until your PC finds a new hardware (if it doesn't work, try hold volume+ and volume- together)
Third step, go to device manager in your PC, find the new "QUALCOMM-HS USB Diagnostics 9006" device. Update its driver in property page using the Qualcomm driver provided (for 32bit windows, select x86 folder; for 64bit windows, select x64 folder).
Fourth step, when the driver is installed properly, run MSM8994DownloadTool.exe in the recover tools folder, using admin privileges . Clear start in top left corner and wait for it to finish.
Now your OPT should be able to enter TWRP recovery. It still won't boot but you can manually flash anything again (like the full Oxygen OS package).
The procedure is tested by me twice. Enjoy!
p.s: sorry the recovery image in the A2001_save_brick_mini.rar is Chinese. Please download this file, change the name to recovery.img and substitute the file in the recovery tool before flashing.
UPDATE:full Oxygen OS 150805 restoration package for those who experience recovery entry problem. Note that this package wipes everything including internal storage!
Awesome, I will go ahead and make a full recovery tool that includes these files as well as the latest version of OxygenOS as I did with the Oneplus one.

Hi,
anyone knows how I can force the OnePlus Two to enter QUALCOMM-HS mode?
I have a "semi-bricked" OP2.
It can boot, but the recovery is broken and I cannot enter it anymore. Worse enough, the bootloader is locked and I cannot unlock it anymore.
So I am kinda stuck and thought this manual would bring me back recovery. But - I cannot get it to enter this specific emergency recovery mode as boot loaders are intact.
Any idea?
Thanks

Hi,
ok, I am one step further now.
I could bring the device in that mode, flashed via this recovery tool. All partitions were flashed but still no recovery. How can that be? ooops.
I did that many time on my OPO already successfully. But of course with the full recovery package.
So question is, I would not mind starting from scratch... anybody knows where the "big" recovery package that erases everything is available?
Thanks

I'm in a similar situation to you. I lost my recovery and somehow my boot loader is locked again. I can't set OEM unlock as I am on the old version of OxygenOS.
I tried the above instructions but they don't work. The phone reboots as normal, not in to recovery. If you solve this then let me know.
EDIT: I think flashing hydrogenos using this method is the best idea. We can then select the OEM unlock from developer settings, use fastboot to unlock the bootloader and flash a new recovery. The question is how? @qwsdert4

What I did to navigate was I had to push the power button then it would bring the screen up where you can swipe the bottom to unlock the screen and use touchscreen. Navigating the storage was odd because it shows it is stuck on Internal storage, but If i click on SDCard, it will take me to that directory. I hope there is a nice update to this is the near future, so we don't have to access it through "adb reboot recovery"
You can flash it if you like I just don't trust this copy yet waiting for an update before I flash it
You can use" fastboot flash recovery twrp.img" to flash rather than "fastboot boot twrp.img " to boot it

Oh man you were so right. I had it flashed and it caused me all kinds of problems, like booting the screen upside down etc. I was finally able to find the recovery.img in another thread and get back the stock recovery. I think I will also wait until there is a more stable TWRP version.
I always use boot to test and I always backup my recovery before flashing because I had that happen to me before

The 20170218 recovery works perfectly with my phone (6/64gb, 820). The first one posted in the OP worked, but was a bit glitchy. The updated one has working SD reading and touchscreen works without having to lock it first.
Could someone please tell me why twrp is booting upside down on my device, and how do I fix it? I just tried to run it in fastboot boot twrp-3.0.3-0-Z016D-20170218.img and once again it loads upside down, however the touch screen is where it normally is suppose to be, which makes it very difficult to navigate the menus. It is very frustrating. This has happened to me multiple times this week. I can't seem to get it to boot/load properly.

I really don't want to wipe everything and start all over from scratch because everything else is working great right now. I guess if there is no easy solution, then I will just leave it alone. I ran it with fastboot and then made a backup and saved it on my microSD card. But I am worried if I wipe everything and start all over again, then I will have to call my bank again to verify my cards for Android pay. I am running the stock firmware version 1698, with stock recovery, an unlocked bootloader, & rooted. Also have Magisk & Titanium Pro installed, and I verified that Andoid pay works for me. How did you install Magisk having stock recovery? Using the in-app installation?

It seems @EypCnn is the developer of this TWRP builds...

I flashed Magisk v11.1 with TWRP, then installed Magisk Manager from the Google Play Store, after I rebooted my device. I did that by booting in to TWRP with fastboot to flash the .zip file. I did not flash TWRP to install Magisk.

[ROOT]Samsung SM-J320A/J320AZ(cricket) Galaxy Express Prime GoPhone / Galaxy J3 2016

Below you will find instructions how to root this device.
The following procedure has been tested up to firmware MMB29K.J320AUSC2AQA1
KNOX should remain 0x0
However you undertake this at your own risk.
(NOTE: This procedure will also work for the SM-J320AZ (Cricket))
Issues:
Wifi passwords not remembered (fix below)
Stock Flashlight app not working.
Model number may be missing from build.prop (fix below)
Instructions
1.Download the eng boot image.
This is a special boot image normally used by engineers, it allows selinux to be booted in permissive mode with relaxed root restrictions.
Do not replace this image with the stock image after rooting your device or you will possibly soft brick your device.
(See below for how to recover)
ENG_BOOT_J320A_PG1
2. Flash the boot image:
Download Odin v3.11.1
Reboot Phone in Download Mode (press and hold Home + Power + Volume Down buttons)
Connect phone and wait until you get a blue sign in Odin
Add the ENG_BOOT_J320A_PG1.tar to AP / PDA
Make sure re-partition is NOT ticked
Click the start button, sit back and wait few minutes
3. Install and run Kingroot:
http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/kingro...-release/kingroot-5-0-5-android-apk-download/
You may need to run Kingroot several times to gain successful root.
4. Install and run SuperSU me to remove Kingroot and convert to SuperSU (not required) :
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...ore&pcampaignid=APPU_1_uzPDVbGyFcGNyATHrqmoCA
Alternative (free) method to replace Kingroot:
Follow Steps 3 to 12.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...ide-how-to-root-tripping-knox-kitkat-t3129484
Don't flash the boot partition with Flashfire, uncheck.
You will also need to flash the system version of SuperSU not EverRoot.
When you get to step 12, don't flash the firmware. Disable EverRoot and just flash this:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/supersu/v2-64-2-66-supersu-mode-t3286120
5. Wifi fix:
modify the line below in /system/build.prop:
ro.securestorage.support=true to false
6. Model number fix:
http://www.techgainer.com/change-fake-android-device-model-number-and-brand-name/
7. To fix “Unauthorized actions have been detected”
disable 'Security log agent'
Enjoy your rooted device.
Recovering from a soft brick:
Flash the stock firmware provided below wirh ODIN in the AP slot.

What do you mean debugging does not work? Adb is enabled by default, it's an engineering boot image.

King root can be replaced with supersu me or the script. It can also be easily uninstalled via its settings.
What did you actually install?
My system went haywire. I need a command thru terminal on android to factory reset, can't boot into recovery.

You can't possibly have lost the recovery, nothing has touched it. It does take a short while for stock recovery to boot.

Reflashed Stock Firmware, regained access to recovery, factory reset and back up and running. i actually noticed some new features in recovery. i can actually apply update from sd now, whereas before i could not access files on sd, looks like dm-verity is also gone, or at least not showing up in recovery as before (maybe because it was a failed test) also the start up of the phone has skipped the initial set up (no add account or set up password) and the main screen is way more crisp and clear than what i had on before, even with the other 3 reflashes i have previously done. so far so good though

The model number missing is a known issue. You just need to edit the build.prop and put it back.

ok so the script is working but there is a different way
1. install kingroot 4.5 from apk mirror
2. Run script
3. update Su
4. update Binary
(i had to reinstall kingroot and deny kingroot root permission before binary would update and uninstall and keep root)
it seems denying kingroot root permission keeps the root on the device, letting su take over for root permission and uninstall of kingroot.
i know it seems weird but it works, the hang up was updating su, which you can do from google play

Continuously returns to the lockscreen even entering the correct password

As subject, my phone continuously returns to the lock screen even entering the correct password.
No matter what ROM I use, it still happens.
And this must start to happen when I restart my phone for the third time. The first time I restarted, everything went normal, entered the correct password, the phone went straight to the homescreen. Similarly, when restarting for the second time, normal as usual. For the third time, this problem is sure to happen!
I'm really frustrated, have changed ROMs a dozen times, but this problem still happens. Because of this problem, I can't secure my phone with PIN, pattern, fingerprint or anything else
Any help and advice will help me immensely. Thanks.

I think he is referring to performing a "FORMAT DATA" wipe that prompts you to type in "yes" in TWRP.
If you tried that, and you're still having issues, then I am lost for words.

I'm experiencing the same issue, and I have no idea why it happens (using Cardinal 5.6.1 with Agni 12.9 & magisk). I used Agni toolbox to suppress login data, so I can unlock my phone with FP but it's not locked... I'll try the fastboot later, maybe it'll also fix GPS (not working with maps in a weird way).
Also you can flash the password reset zip and re enter youn pin lock.

I already have the zip, but it only serves to remove the password so that the phone can be accessed again, I create a new password again, the problem appears again, the problem must appear on the third reboot. The point is, the zip is just to remove the lockscreen password, not to eliminate the problem as I described above. Thank you for your answers by the way.
I've probably solution for this problem.
When you install a rom, you must install rom then eventually gapps, after this kernel and magisk (stable 16). Working for me.
Before i tried this, i tested only custom rom and kernel. Rom and kernel were work perfectly, then i add magisk. Still no problem. This time i tried install again custom kernel, and after three reboot i cannot unlock my phone.
I format data, and wipe all partitions which were on phone, without of course sd card.

So, exactly steps to install rom? Give me the right order between rom, gapps, magisk, and custom kernel.

Same, it happened to me after installing Cardinal AOSP. Probably the fault of the stupid developer.
