[Kernel][COS12][CM11s][CM11][Stock kernel V4 with touchscreen fix+hardboot support] - ONE Android Development

I have made a kernel for stock Cyanogen OS12 with the touchscreen firmware fix and the hardboot patch (So you can use the stock rom as primary rom in multirom)
I have attached 2 file types.
The .img files to flash it with fastboot or an kernel flasher app.
The .zip files to flash it with a custom recovery
Here is a Video from savadam How to install the kernel in the recovery.
In the youtube video description you will also find howto unlock the bootloader and install a custom recovery
Update:
Kernel V2 is attached with a modified Ramdisk to fix the not working Settings-display
Update2:
The touchsreen fix is causing an 30mA higher battery drain if double tap to wake is enabled. I can life with it, but if for you the drain is to high you should disable double tap to wake in settings-display.
As soon as a new fix is finish I will provide a new kernel
Update3:
Kernel V3 with the new fix which seems to fix the touchscreen problems without causing an higher battery drain http://review.cyanogenmod.org/#/c/99607/
Update4:
Kernel V4 with fixed Sunlight Enhancement
Update5:
Kernel for CM11s XNPH05Q added
Update6:
Kernel for CM11 M11 Snapshot/Nightly added

I would not post it here if it would not work...
I use this kernel since a few weeks on the stock cos12 and since friday with the touchscreen fix.
Hardboot/Multirom support is also tested and working

Kernel V2 is attached in the first post with a modified Ramdisk to fix the not working Settings-display

It is made for the stock cyanogen os 12

i already have cm12s as my primary rom and miui6 as my scondary rom in multirom.
will flashing the boot zip for my cm12s conflict multirom?

What about the battery life? Any experience? I flashed FC which fixed the touchscreen issue, but worsened the battery life.

It would be possible but it will not make any differences, because the hardboot patch does nothing if you don't have multirom installed

Thank me if i helped you.

[ROM][KVT49L]AOSP 4.4.2 from source (Alpha 01)

The reason I post my ROM here is because I'm soon starting with a new rom, broodROM KitKat which will also be available for the Note 3, So I figured why not test it on my current AOSP ROM (to see if there is any trouble on compiling, but no!). This AOSP is based on the real Google AOSP, no real further modifications (only thing is that it includes DeviceSettings from the S4 currently), and AppOps is exposed. that's all.
It includes the stock CM11 kernel (which is kinda crappy). but I don't have the device so cannot make decent kernel myself without testing. Also the ROM is 100% untested. but it compiled without any error with my sources (www.github.com/AOSP-S4-KK) so I think it's alright.
Working List
- You tell me I have no idea :silly:
Download Alpha 1
www.broodplank.net/files/AOSP-442-N9005-Alpha-1.zip
on alpha 01 you need to flash a custom kernel
SEND ME LOGCAT! BECAUSE CURRENTLY IT SEEM TO BOOTLOOP
The device name is listed as hlte in settings / build.prop, don't worry this is actually hltexx
Download Gapps Lite + SuperSU (yes it's not rooted by default, I recommend installing this package)
http://broodplank.net/files/gapps-4.4.2-lite-with-supersu-1.86.zip
Sources
- https://github.com/aosp-s4-kk
Download:
Code:
mkdir ~/AOSP
cd ~/AOSP
repo init -u git://github.com/AOSP-S4-KK/platform_manifest -b kk-4.4
repo sync
Building:
Code:
. build/envsetup.sh
lunch
make otapackage

anybody that has tried this, can you let me know if the temp/humidity sensors are still working after a few hours? as with other cm roms they stop working for me
Awesome Broodplank! Just switched from the Galaxy S Plus to the Note 3, always enjoyed your roms on there. Will try out this one! Keep up the good work

Lol what the hell, that's almost impossible that my rom triggered download mode XD.
But it could be true, I have no clue since I do not have the device. what you could try is using the boot.img & /system/lib/modules from CM11 nightly.
btw, just downloaded CM11 and noticed there are NO modules in the kernel of hltexx. this means the kernel I added will not boot most likely.
So please install this zip after installing the rom:

Just bootloops with that .zip you added.
I did however change your kernel zip after the bootloop and used - temasek's HLTE custom kernel - I am now on the Android start up screen you have added but it is stuck on there.

Ah I dropped the herp a derp then hahah, Nah reason I thought that was because of the CM kernel used to boot it up. Thanks for correcting :good:

@gianton it'll boot into splash screen with temasek's kernel, if you wanna try and grab an ADB Logcat? - I'm having issues getting one :crying:
Sorry for not providing a good kernel, the thing is I cannot compile it decently with the ROM. it says I have to add module support and recontinue, thing is, the note 3 does not use it. but my build forces it.. Anyone have experience on CM with compiling the kernel? (the kernel is from CM after all)
You could try temasek or Yank555 or wootever for help with kernels as they're pretty decent at them - civato knows his stuff also, however I believe he has only worked with Stock samsung kernels and not CM stuff.
Still cannot get ADB logcat, phone won't recognise in PC

[LOLLIPOP][18/11/14] Phantom Kernel r2

I have been working on grouper recently and I felt that there was a certain lack of a stock based kernel with only useful stuff and not custom features. There might be some users like me who haven't been able to customize their tablets much because of schedule and lego kernel hasn't been updated much recently. So I have made a kernel for Lollipop with only required stuff.
Some points to note(they can't be called features)-
Compiled using latest Linraro 4.9 optimized for Cortex A9
Kexec support
All-F2FS support
GPU overclock(franco's method)
Optimized ARM RWSEM algorithm
Entropy tweaks
Agnostic kernel flasher
SuperSU compatible
Download- http://forum.xda-developers.com/devdb/project/?id=6701#downloads for boot.img
and http://d-h.st/2bYP for agnostic kernel flasher zip
Note- boot.img is only for All-F2FS partition users while zip can be used for all partition types(ext4, data-F2FS, all-F2FS).

Awesome, I'm gonna give this a try!
For GPU overclock is it set higher already or do I need an external app or additional files to affect it?
Sweet, now all i need is some advanced power button options and my tablet is set :3

What steps did you follow? I tried the same and got stuck at boot.
Which root way did you follow? Chainfire or permissive?
I am running rooted factory image on ext4. I flashed the zip, got positive feedback of the boot.img installing, rebooted, saw one app optimizing on boot. But when I go to settings.device the kernel still reports the stock name and in trickster I see the same with no evidence of any new gpu customizability. Thanks.

I am also wondering, how did you convert a Lollipop ROM to All-F2FS? With the 'Convert To F2FS' App from the Play Store? Does it work with 5.0?
Or is all i need flashing a Lollipop ROM on my F2FS device and then this kernel and it will boot?
also can i use this kernel on tilapia? I know i can't use grouper ROMs but never bothered with Kernels until now.

[Unofficial][CM11][KERNEL]Stock Updated kernel on 15th Feb 2015

If you don't know what is this, don't flash this, If you know what is this, you are supposed to flash this. This is tested and working by me and many others. As always, you and only you are responsible for your device and decisions. Neither me nor anyone else except you will be responsible for bricked device.
This kernel is compiled using cyanogen source and commits and is up-to-date till now. I have not changed anything in it.
It includes all the libs needed for stock-based rom to boot.
For changes you can see the commits on github.com.
Custom recovery needed.
Instructions:
1. Download CM_kernel_15-2-15.zip or Dev-Host mirror
2. Place it in internal/external sd.
3. Reboot to recovery and choose install from internal/external sd.
4. Select CM_kernel_15-2-15.zip.
5. Reboot.
Changes you may see after flashing this will be in camera, touch, proximity and over all performance.
Please report if you find anything good or usual.
Till now noticed bugs fixed (as reported by users):
1. Battery charging stuck on 99%.
2. Better touch respponce

Just a note on kernels
I've tested many many kernels on many devices. When they are configured the same, performance/battery is about the same. Any difference was slight enough to be considered noise in the test methods. I always suggest to learn about kernel parameters then tweak it to the way you want. Any kernel will give more performance, or battery life, or anything between - all depends on how you configure it.
Ps - same device, same twrp, supersu instead of magisc, no problems. Except seems not compatible with ex kernel manager - it doesn't apply settings. I believe it doesn't set proper permissions to be able to write. But hey, it's young and a stockish kernel, hope to see more.

A stock based kernel isn't gonna play well with custom ROMs, unless your secondary ROM is a stock ROM? I plan on creating one for cm-14.1+ based ROMs too.

[KERNEL] Tomascus Kernel

Yes, i'm not very creative so I named the kernel after myself.
This is merely a minimalistic kernel that is meant to be kept up to date with the latest CAF tag and upstream Linux.

Main goal of this kernel is simplicity, I don't have any plans to add anything extra.

The lineage-15.1 branch of my kernel works well enough for lineage-based ROMs at the moment but further development is currently on hold. (lineage-16.0 branch currently has broken wifi).
We're working on bringing up lineage 16.0 at the moment which takes up the free time I get to work on this. After we've completed that, I also need to address outstanding issues with PowerHAL usage.

Whoaa new kernel for our beloved U11
It's great to see devs around this forgotten and very underrated phone
Edit : Wifi is not working on latest stock oreo, installed kernel + modules (tried magisk 17.1 and 17.3)
I'm sure you're aware of it, but kernel breaks wifi on RR.
I know it's not for AOSP based roms, just thought I'd mention it. Everything else seems fine.
Awesome bro can we install on aosp 9 ?? Or only Oreo for now
Hope u can continue ur kernel. Beacause it very stable.... I try all custom rom. Custom kernel... Have the problem set value config cpu (AKT,...) not working-when touching to display min and big core run at 9xx mhz and higher. Only your kernel resolve this problem. ...
.
And bug with resolve ur kernel : break wifi- module not working.
For those who use module fix but not fix wifi (like me) do step by step.
- Replace all file from system/etc/lib of module to ur system device.
Copy file "qca_cld3_wlan.ko" to system/vendor/lib . then reboot. Hope it working on ur device.
I use this kernel source for my recent slim builds already (with a few changes to the defconfig for wifi/exfat)
SD card won't mount. Even formatting the SD card still won't work for me. This seems to be an issue alot for me. Going back to stock kernel SDcard works.

Negative, all formats do not work. Like I said, works fine with the stock kernel. Re formatted in TWRP with any format and it will not mount. Stock kernel it works just fine. I have issues with some other AOSP ROM's where it will not mount either.
@tomascus Hey there
Just wondering if this project is already dead ? I really hope that you manage to solve broken WI-FI issue. I can help with testing if you need.
Keep being amazing and thanks for this awesome work

Did you flash the modules zip? Wifi is in those.
It's not dead, I'm just more focused on lineage os and enjoying the holidays

Well as far as I know drivers & magisk modules don't go hand to hand very well and this confirms what I thought. I just made a simple flashable zip with system installation of kernel modules and I got my wifi working, so maybe consider adding that option next time :fingers-crossed: I will attach the zip below maybe this can help someone.
And have a great day
