Is there a Bumper that is just a bumper? - Nexus 6 Accessories

I dont want a bumper case with a clear back, or some bumper that has a molded translucent back. I just want a TPU bumper and thats it. even Metal only but really just TPU.
I have the SLickwrap natural series Leather back with the new back replacement as well and still its too thick and I hate that I can see the edge of the leather sticking up. Such a waste of money and time remocing my OEM back just to have the same ugly edge showing.
I had a spigion case with the clear back and I was able to remove the clear part leaving just the rubber surround but the rubber part was too loose as it depending on the back piece for rigidity.
Looking on amazon and all I see are clear back bumpers but no bumpers with NO back. am I going crazy?

I dont have an answer about the bumper, but I would suggest that you take a pen, or a hard surface, wet the edge of the leather, and press down and go around the edge of your phone. If you hadnt put it on it may work better, this explains it better---->https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3YW5x84rWhQ It made a world of difference for me.

Uhh... What? ^^^^^^^ he's not smoothing out a hide.

there is the metal bumper that's comes in all different colors and also that plastic bumper that looks kinda ugly imo

Thanks for confirming what I suspected... there isnt something that I really was looking for.
I really wanted a BUMPER case that looked just like the GOLD piece in the case of this example

thanks, at first i almost thought you were crazy but this really did help a lot.
I applied the leather/back replacement all as one piece. I was a bit disappointed that the edged were still unnaturally high and sharp. it literally looked like I slapped on a leather sticker on my factory back which I didnt. It was not flush like I saw someone else who replaced their back with just the leather piece.
I got bored and took my tv remove control and just started rubbing the edges of my leather with the edge of my tv remote lol. it was purely boredom but i saw it was doing something. the edges started to go down and almost meet with the edge of my phone frame. i did that for probably an hour on and off while watching the flash on tv.
the next morning i took my finger and dipped it in some water and then rubbed my wet finger on the leather edges and just gave each edge a good rub down and the edges look so much better. they no longer feel rough or sticker like and it feels almost oem.
i still rub the edges occasionally because i'm OCD but I think that others could benefit from these steps.

So did you buy any of the bumpers? Just got the Nexus 6 and want to find a bumper also. The Metal case has only one review that said it didn't fit correctly. The Kepuch has 2 reviews, so thinking of going with that in blue color to match the blue back.

There's also this one by X-Case.

That X-case is pretty bulky looking. I'd just like essentially a really thin elastic / rubber band type of thing, but no such luck

Is there a difference between the Nillkin, X-Case, and Kepuch?

SGP Linear Color Cases

I've seen quite a few reviews / post on the SGP NeoHybrid series cases but nothing on the Linear Color series, thus I figured I'd post some quick photos and share my comments.
After several reviews on how the NeoHybrid series sags after while I decided to stay away from that model and try the Linear Color series. I found out the frame is of the same material as the NeoHybrid, just the back is different / hard plastic. I wanted a two-tone look, thus ended up ordering 2 cases, one in Silver and one in Black. First let me say I absolutely LOVE these cases. I think the look is absolutely gorgeous and the fit is spot on. I read reviews about the back being loose on the international version of the SG2 but this is not the case with our model. There is absolutely no movement of the back case. The cases are also a little different between the Black and Silver. The Black has a high gloss while the Silver has a bit of a flat texture to it. This works well with the combo of the cases as you don't have a full slippery phone with the all black and you have nice break in the texture with introducing the gloss black to the silver case. Overall I would highly recommend this case. The picture I have do not do the cases justice. Additionally these cases include the Ultra Crystal screen protector which is installed in the pictures.

Thank you for the review. Can you confirm if the case covers the top mic? Also, how well does the side piece fit the phone? Is a youtube review it looked like the side piece was bowing out a bit so every time the buttons were pressed, the case would clearly flex.
Wow those cases look sweet. Thanks for the info.

The case does indeed cover the top mic, however I believe it can easily be fixed by some of the methods described in this forum (hot nail, small drill, etc). I plan to give it a shot on mine this weekend. Will try to post some update pictures with a better camera when I do. As far as the case, there is absolutely no bowing / flexing taking place. If it's the same youtube video I saw, they mentioned they had attempted to put the case on with one of those skins on and that make the case bulge a bit as they forced it on. The two I have fit like a glove and again have no movement of the back plate as described for the international version.
Case
I like the pics, and I am in the market for a case. I am definitely going to check these out.
I got my Linear case today and I must say I like it alot! I go Soul Black which has a glossy finish to it which I prefer. Because of this glossiness, the case can be slippery though but i dont mind. The case has a nice lip on front side so laying the phone face down is no problem. The fit is well done too. With a 3 piece case, I was worried how snug it would fit together. Rest assured, everything feels nice and snug. I also verified my phone, wifi, and gps signals are not negatively impacted by this case , unlike my CaseMate Barely There Aluminum which I also like the look of but could not deal with the greatly degraded gps signal.
My only complaint, and this definitely more of a preference, I wish the lip on the front side was a not so high. Swiping from edge to edge, my finger hits the edge. Its not a big deal though.
Overall, I would recommend this case!
I would get one, but I'm thinking about taking my SGS II back next week for the LG Nitro HD when it comes out. It's nice to know there are some good, reasonably priced cases for this phone, though.

Hmm...I like my Neo Hybrid case but it's a pain whenever I want to remove it to access the microsd card or when I had to peel off an old screen protector and place a new one one. Been thinking about this case and was wondering if you could post or PM me pics? (Probably gonna go with soul black as well since I don't want to buy a white & black to keep my stormtrooper look -- unless someone's willing to buy the black shell with white backing?)
Thanks!

Alright I will post some pics later. I will say that removing this case is pretty easy however, I dont think I would advise doing it too many times. There are little clips that attaches the bottom part to the frame. I imagine these clips could wear over time if the case is removed too many times.

Thanks! Yeah, I don't plan on removing the case too often but I'd also like it NOT to be such a PITA when I want to take it off. It's really the only negative thing I ahve to say about the Neo Hybrid case. I wish they offered a white shell w/black backing instead of having to buy 2 different color cases though since they offer the white shell with pink, turquoise, etc. <-- NO black backing, ReaLLY?

I believe it's the same case - the only difference is that you'll get the correct Steinheil screen protector without the home button cutout that comes with the i9100 (aka international) version. The case itself fits either although since the i9100 is a bit slimmer, the back supposedly wiggles whereas it should fit flush on the i777.
Ugh...so I went ahead decided to get the Infinity White Linear case and got it today...
Sux, it doesn't fit right. The bottom part won't clip into the rest; only one side clips in properly as if the width is not right. I've emailed SGP's customer service so they can RMA and get me a new case (I'm going to be pissed though if they try to charge me for shipping & handling).
I'm really surprised that it doesn't fit. I hope I just got one from a bad batch.
I sent an SGP neohybrid case back on the 14th of november and still waiting on my refund. had to pay for the shipping back.

Was the product defective (my Neo Hybrid fits fine but I wanted the Linear case for easier access to my microsd card and battery)?
If it was defective, then you shouldn't have to pay to ship it back.
I'll just have to wait and see...don't know what case to get if they don't RMA and send me a Linear case to fit...(thought about the Taurus but don't want the metal case to interfere with GPS).
sent back due to wrong screen protector being sent, and had also read about how the rubber back saged over time. i bought one of the s line cases off ebay for like $5 and it fits perfect and didnt increase the size much.

Ok, then yes it would make sense that they charge you for shipping. But in my situation, the bottom part of the case doesn't fit properly. I'll look at the S line case you mentioned and see how that is. Thanks.

(19.50+2.98 S+H) Galaxy Note Aluminum Bumper Edges only REVIEW!

Alright While I was looking for a metal bumper I stumbled upon this one on Amazon.
It's shipped from California not Hong Kong/ China So you get to skip on that super long wait.
It Fits I717 and the N7000
I've Received my Bumper it took about 2 days from shipping date to receive with standard shipping so that was a plus.
My thoughts so far, Even with Armor Suit on my sides and back Coupled with my Glas.t Screen protector it fits very snug.
And when I say Very snug I Mean Pretty F*cking tight.
It has sufficient padding inside the bumper so it will keep your note nice and safe.
The quality of the bumper is great! The sliding piece is smooth on the bottom so it WILL NOT Scratch your screen.
The buttons are about 50% harder to press but it is still reasonable.
I recommend this to those who love the minimalist style. Just couple it with the Glas.t and the Armor suit and your set!
Cons:
The buttons are harder to press
It's hard to remove the back cover.
Slight signal drop

I have the SZLF branded bumper case (looks the same except for the logo). I need a bumper case because of a 5000mah battery & humped replacement back cover. The power button and volume rocker are harder to push because they are recessed. I really like the power button being recessed because now my phone NEVER attempts to turn on by hitting a pen in my shirt pocket (come to think of it, I might be able to remove the lock screen.... I'll have to try that). I hold my note in my left hand (I'm right handed) and my left index finger easily turns the phone on and off. Using my thumb on the volume rocker takes a lot more effort/force to have any effect.
The bad: with these types of bumper cases the bottom portion of the locking hoop is kind of loose and gets looser over time (it bowed away from the phone along the bottom. The hoop just popped off for me (I've had it for 3 weeks) and I had to put a couple of small bends in it to keep it in place. The hoop may also scratch you screen or screen protector when you put it on.
i just ordered one of these as well, didnt really want to wait to get it in from HK so I guess we will see when I get it too.
I was thinking about the top scratching the screen because it looks like it slides from the bottom to attach at the top. I dont have a screen protector on it as of yet so guess I will just have to be careful.
Hopefully this case has a bit of slack since I do have the glas.t Installed. x)
So I just got mine in the mail... Thank you next day delivery ^_^
and I got to say its really nice
It fits real snugg with the glass protector
It barely even fit!!
But its really good quality and no rattles or anything lose
Only downside is that its really hard to push
Power and Volume buttons
But that's OK with me

i have been using mine for about a week now, yes the buttons are very hard to reach, but it stops me from accidentally hitting them like I always do so its ok by me.
size is 87mm x 150mm x 11.5mm
Feels very nice, though I am not sure if the OP has glass on glass or just a stick on protector, but mine seemed nice and snug with nothing on. I used a fingernail tip to go under the top edge to slide it on and keep it from touching the screen. I am very happy so far.

It wouldn't suppress the signal since The Note isn't like the iPhone 4/4S where the antenna is on the sides. Our Antenna is on the bottom portion of our phone so this case does not interfere with signal.

Urban Armour Gear review and pictures

My UAG case just arrived today and I'm very excited! These cases have a real industrial, well built, and good look to them. For the note 3 there are four colors to choose from Orange, black, white, and slate. I chose slate because I wanted a flat low profile look rather than the bright orange or white case. These cases sell for $34.95 with free shipping on the UAG website. But can be found cheaper on amazon sometimes.
The overall build seems to be very sturdy along the outside and had a TPU inside so the phone has a soft surface to rest against. The remodeled version of this case has cut outs for all ports and holes. The hole for the pen is very big making it easy to access. The case does come with a screen protector.. It is not the best but it works.
The power and volume rocker buttons are extremely easy to click even right out of the box. They are not too stiff nor to loose they give a satisfying click more so than the regular phone buttons.
This case is thin enough that it is still easy to hold with one hand and the sides of the case provide a honeycomb textured grip so it will not slip out of your hands. Since the case does not have a rubbery back but a more hardened texture it will not get caught in your Jean pockets and slides out nice and smoothly.
Some final touches that are nice on this case are that the back and front of the case has a raised lip in the corners so it will never sit directly on the screen or be in risk of scratching the nice finished back of the case. Also the cutout for the camera is glare free so it will not interfere with the camera at all.
Overall this case built by UAG is a extremely durable industrial looking case which will protect your phone from falls. You will more than likely have people comment on your case and ask you where they can get one as well.

Very nice review, I love my UAG case. Had it on since day one and work in an automotive shop.
Thanks man! Just came back from the gym and while I was on the treadmill I dropped my phone and it landed on the moving floor and shot off into the floor.. I didn't even bother to think twice because I knew it would be protected, which it was!

I got the rust color UAG case in a day ago. Absolutely love this thing. It feels plain awesome no matter how I hold the phone. Looks unlike any other case. Heck even the included screen protector is awesome. Highly recommend this case...

Here's what I'm gonna need ya to do, trade your Note 3 for the Classic White, trade that case for the black/white one, then re-take the pics and post them here.
Just kidding man. Nice write-up and pics. Looks good!

I originally ordered the white case... But changed my mind because I was worried that it may get dirty and went with the slate.. But the classic white with the white and black case would look really nice!

I'm looking into getting a tempered glass protector... Anyone with the UAG have one? I'm wondering how the case fits with it on

Should fit with any one. Personally only used it with the Nillkin though.

I have a tempered glass protector on. I just didn't bother installing the SP that came with the UAG. That'd be like putting a t-shirt over a bullet resistant vest for 'extra protection'
I use a black UAG case and while it looks really good and does well for protection there is one or two things I've noticed.
First (at least on the black) after having it a while it has started to show scuff marks. This is probably because I don't always set it on an even surface.
Second, I wish the hexagonal side was a bit more grippy. I know that if it were it would be harder to take out of pockets but, just personal preference.
No intention of changing cases and these issues are not enough to make me change cases. I am quite happy with UAG and will look to them first for future phone cases.
The Nilken was out of stock at amazon so I went with the tech armor. Spent some time reading, seems they all work well.

I always thought like uag looked like the end of spigen when I had the uag logo upside down lol
I just got my UAG case, the slate one, and absolutely love it and I have the wireless back and it fits quite well. I also went with a tempered glass protector and had it on before the case so I just kind of chucked the one that was sent with the UAG which was a laugh. Anyhow, I'd buy another one for my next phone in a heartbeat.
Don't hate on the included screen protector... For 1, it's actually decent. I used it until I got my tempered glass in. Second, they don't have to include the screen protector. Most manufacturers these days don't. I really like that they include it. If you tossed it then that was dumb. Always a good idea to have a spare protector around.

Okay thanks man...going to order one today!

The obligatory "Cases" thread. Show yours.

Now that we have have all of our own forums I figured we'd get this one started.
The cases showed up for my fones the other day, the phone yesterday, but I'm still 800 miles away.
The phone in the picture is my wifes T Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note 2 in a Seidio case.

IMO the spigen slim armor case is probably the nicest, slimmest, case there is while still protecting your phone... I love mine. I bought a white phone and wanted to stay with white
Is there a difference between international versions and the US versions with theses cases? Like not having certain holes cut out for antennae placement

Agreed. I bought the gunmetal one for my black G3 and couldn't be happier. True to form, I dropped it last night (grumble grumble) and though the case got a tiny bit scuffed on the tumble/slide across the concrete, the phone is unaffected.

Gun metal one here too. Looks great. I still can't believe how light this phone is even with a case

And THIN! My G3 doesn't feel any thicker than without it, and didn't lose that great stock feel the G3 has.
I'm really REALLy digging these Hyperion Titan cases. I'll have to do a review on one in a few days. Really great fit.
How much bulk does that hyperion add?
Almost none. Let me get my calipers...
According to my digital calipers, the stock devices 9.76 mm. With the case it is 13 mm.
3.24mm thicker with the case. The front lip that protects the face is probably half of that.
Here's more pics...
I just ordered the spigon hybrid case with the clear back. I'm pretty careful with my phone do don't really need a super bulky one. Here's 2 links for sites with various case for people that are interested.

Thank you for the extensive pictures. I'm debating between this one and the Spigen Slim Armor. Main thing I like in the Spigen is the little bit of plastic it puts between the volume up and the camera lens, I find myself hitting the lens by mistake a lot and I think this would help me find the volume better.
LG shows a nice looking Slim leather case but I don't see it for sale anywhere.

This might be an unanswerable question, but how sturdy is the color on the hard frame? A long time ago I had a case like this for my S3 and within a month the color on the corners of the hard plastic was starting to wear off. I've since then only used cases where the soft portion has color and the hard part is black or white.
Otherwise I've been eyeballing the Hyperion cases since they started showing up online. I like how slim they are and how they maintain the back curve of the phone.

Thanks button is for thanks man. Not an issue, folks here help me all the time, I like to help back.
I can see a thin part like that being helpful, but this looks great. BTW, I JUST noticed there is a plastic cover on the power button and volume buttons I didn't peel off. How did they ever expect anyone to notice that? Much better now!
To find the volume button I put my finger on the power button and slide up.

Seems pretty frigging sturdy. I don't think it is painted, I think thats actually colored plastic. I've got mine in a cheap holster (see the nasty red case in my first post) and no issues at all yet. I'll keep you all up to date though.
Juswanted to say, I got the Spigen Slim Armor in gunmetal from amazon for 17.99 i think? came fast.. and its been great. I'm not a fan of big cases.. and this one stays pretty true to form.. I wish i could bareback it with nothing cuz the thing looks great by itself.. but, ya know

Some users are discussing it here
So far I've tested the Spigen Slim Armour and the Cruzerlite TPU. The slim amour does do a better job of protecting the phone but I'm finding the plastic back to be to slippery for my taste one handed, where the cruzerlite doesn't slip at all but also doesn't protect as we'll.

Any good cases similar to UAG protection?

I have been looking for a case similar to the UAG. I still want to get it, but the camera issue will eventually bug me. The case I'm looking for has to have a clear backing and something of a hybrid like the UAG without the flash issue. Any ideas or suggestions will be appreciated.

Great reviews man! I still on the fence. I like the poetic because it seems more sturdier than the supcase. On the other hand, I like the look of the supcase a little bit more. I read some reviews for the supcase and it made me cringe when I read the review about the broken device from a small drop. U never had this hard of a problem trying to figure out which case to get for my device.

I prefer the Supcase, but hate the sides since they are rough But the Poetic is best of both worlds!

I have a feeling most people will never drop their phone much more than 5 feet to the ground, in which case, most any slim TPU case will do the job.
If you're careless and constantly throwing your phone around, get the tried and true otterbox.
For the past 5 years, I've been using nothing but TPU cases and a screen protector, after a year or two, my phones still look like new.
I use the Ringke Fusion, and have dropped my phone about 4ft to the pavement once already since it was on my lap when getting out of the car. The phone is unscathed, of course.

Thanks guys for the advice. I went and bought the poetic case. The moko case does look really nice and probably give adequate protection. I did also see the body glove case for the n6 which looked awesome, but then didn't have a clear backing available.
Air Jacket Grip Case (Moto X)
My last phone was a 2013 Moto X which I put into an Air Jacket Grip case by Power Support. It was one of the cases available through Moto. That thing fit around my phone really snug and it was clear so it didn't add much bulk and didn't change the overall feel of the phone. Additionally the phone felt protected from falls and was definitely protected from scratches. My Moto X still looks good as new today.
Any recommendations for something similar as far as feel? I wouldn't mind something in a solid color as I'm not overly excited about having a blue phone but I definitely want that snugness.
The two cases posted by the OP seem to meet the criteria but before I buy, I would like to ask / know if anyone with a similar experience have any opinion or other options.

I have the Beetle Supcase and it is nice but I really am not too confident on how much drop protection it would offer. The corners and sides just don't seem like they would have enough cushioning to protect from a fall. But for basic protection it is nice.

I prefer the ringke fusion in smoke black. Helps flatten out the back of the phone as well to make it easier to use on a table. Also check out the dbrand skins if you don't like the midnight blue. Check out the YouTube video below to see the case and the skin. Looks amazing.

Just FYI, even with the very best heavy duty cases, the glass can still shatter. Sometimes even from short drops. I only mention this because I have the UAG on my Galaxy Note and it fell out of my pocket as I got out of my car this morning. A very short drop of just a few feet. It impacted face down, and even with the substantial rubber lip the glass shatter was a big web. So if you see bad reviews, those are probably just bad luck, not that the case wasn't any good.

You are very correct. I've been fortunate enough to have never broken a phone, but i've seen it happen so many times.
personally, im using the Supcase Unicorn Beetle Pro, and its great! I really like the added thickness as now I dont feel like im gonna snap the phone in half. unfortunately the balt clip just broke so I ordered another of the same one to use while I wait for the warranty to go through. If you want to feel more secure with your phone, get this case lol
