HTC M8 turns itself off when opening a leather flipcover - AT&T HTC One (M8)

Hello everybody,
My HTC M8 turns off as soon as I open my Flipcover all the way, so that the camera is covered ...
What kind of function ist this and you can turn them off?
the cover ist from Mediadevil, one can find it easy on amazon (i am not allowed to post links here yet)
- Magnet does not exist, so I've chosen this so that credit cards are not damaged
- It does not matter with other materials are covering the back of the phone, nothing has the effect described ...
Many Thanks!

Did you try to confirm the presence (or absence) of the magnet, such moving a paper clip close to the case and seeing if it "sticks" or you can feel a weak attraction?
I've seen cases on Amazon, where the magnet feature was not advertised, but it turned out the case did have a magnet. I have one such base for my Samsung Tab Pro 8.4.
I can't think of any other reason why the case would have the mentioned effect, when other materials do not.

[REV] Silicone Cover/case from Ebay

Hi all,
This is a small post regarding the silicone case that I got from ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170283532114
After 10 business days or a bit more, finaly I got it and have been using it for the past three days.
Originates from HongKong, the case fits the HD nicely. No saggyness or
extra space, you drop in the phone and it fits good.
The thickness is not extremley thick nor thin, I wouldn't count on it to break
a 6 feet fall, but it will definately help protect it from day to day small bumps and just throwing around.
Touching the silicone material itself feels strange, as my previous silicone case was more on the sticky side. This feels a bit more like human skin (more or less) although I feel that my fingers glide with ease on it, holding it with a grip and putting it on different surfaces usually tends to make it hold with a better grip.
Attached are images taken with the HD.
One small note about the cuts/opennings in the case:
- Turning on/off the screen needs a bit of getting used to since the button is cuvered now.
- No small hole for the LED indicator (which till now doesn't bother me)
I have also included an image to show the size of the package, it is just a bit bigger than the case it self, and they also included a free screen protector (which i'll save for later use if needed).
Enjoy...

particular one so that if dear readers would want to buy.
@ MODERATOR, please feel free to remove Post if you see required.

The problem with that thread is that so many other different types of cases have been posted and discussed in there, so much so that the topic does not match the case anymore and the silicon is just one of the ten thousand cases discussed there
May I request that in this thread, we discuss this case and this case only? If we discuss the other case, it should be for comparision purposes only.
I also use the same silicon case as Fadik, and really love it.
Besides protecting the paint, it also acts as a soft cushion against small knocks. Unlike the invisible shield, which I think would not offer any protection against knocks.
It has very cleverly resolved the issue of power on button and volume control. You can use these control without exposing them to your finger. Therefore, I expect my device to remain new longer, even at those two places.
Fadik, mine does not have a hole to show the led though. This is the only minor flaw of the design. The invisible shield on the other hand, will not have problem showing the led.

Hardcase with screen cover - recommendations?

Because of previous bad experiences with open touchscreen devices in the past, I've decided I need a hardcase with screen cover/lid to prevent unnecessary pressure on the screen. The cover should of course be transparent if possible, but that's not a demand.
While searching the web I found this potential candidate:
http://www.pdair.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=10100000_900000_11000630&products_id=17582
Anyone tried it?
Any other recommendations?
One problem I found with cases that cover the screen: they all interfere. This is still a Windows Mobile phone, and sometimes you will need the stylus. When that happens, you will not be able to use the stylus on the edges. I returned this one after just a couple of days because it rendered my phone unusable.

For your purposes it might be better to get something like a leather case.
The thing about the pdair alu case is that it's built with a hinge, so you can easily unfold the front part and get full access to the screen should you need to. I don't know if the plastic covering on the hatch is flexible or hard, but I would guess it's hard and so it would suit my needs just fine.
I'm just waiting to see if anyone else has tried this case, I know for a fact that it's easy to get disappointed with small design details on these things.

ZAGG's Invisible Shield: My fresh experience

*Note i have not experienced whether the product lives up to its name or not. I only JUST placed it on my device. This is simply my first impression.
**I included pictures of my device compared to the back parts of the adhesive so you can fully grasp the wonderful "custom to fit" experience.
I just now got as close to perfection as i think i am going to get with placing my "custom to fit" screen protector onto my device. At very first glance i saw that their were going to be some slight imperfections. The random circle on the top right of the adhesive was a dead giveaway. The cut out they have for the top speaker and the bottom row of buttons is hardly CLOSE to the size it should be. It is much too big. I am not sure if it is clear enough in the pictures but their is excess adhesive on the sides. I figured they may be meant to fold down to protect a minuscule amount of siding. At first i could not get it to stick on the sides. But after giving it a few minutes to settle and let the application spray* dry, it seems to be holding. However, the border has really ugly bubbles from the very tony inlay of the front of the phone. The instructions say that MICRObubbles will disappear in their own after a couple days... i hardly find these MICRObubbles though. We will see. I think it is almost supposed to have a "melting" effect on the device. Like heated plastic sort of taking the proper shape over the device.
Now we move onto the back. You will see that i have been given 3 holes instead of 2. (2 being the camera lens and the button underneath). I have no idea what the third was meant for.... I can also forget about taking the backing off of my device as it is now sealed shut with the plastic invisible shield. This doesn't bother me that much since i rarely ever have to take the back out but i know their will be a day where i will need to.
All-in-all the product LOOKS promising still. The bottom line here that i would like to make is that i have NO idea what TouchPro2 they are basing this off of. but it is far from mine. Too far. I need to check but i am also fairly certain they ask for your provider too (in case the device is different than others)
I am also still wondering about the excess sides. it is very random in the back but they make no mention of needing to trim the shield.
*They give you a spray that you use on your fingertips and the adhesive so that a. you dont give it fingerprint smudges and b. it doesnt fully stick right away so that you can "slide" it into place. I found that "sliding" it around was impossible because it still stuck but it did not stick enough to the point i was unable to retry.
I really hope this means something to somebody. Had i read something like this before hand, i may have thought longer on buying the product. I will be sure to write more in the next few days. By the feel of the material on my phone, it seems like it could work really well.
I would also love to know other people's experience with this product and even maybe correct me if anything i complained about was just due to stupidity.
It very much looks like you bought Invisible Shield for the wrong Touch Pro 2 model.
It looks like you have the one for the unlocked/unbranded model:
http://www.zagg.com/invisibleshield/htc-touch-pro-2-cases-screen-protectors-covers-skins-shields.php
When in fact you want the T-Mobile model.
http://www.zagg.com/invisibleshield/htc-touch-pro-2-t-mobile-cases-screen-protectors-covers-skins-shields.php
It looks like the shape of your T-Mob branded TP2 is actually quite different from the unbranded version. The shape of the shield is therefore quite different between the models, based on the pictures on the Zagg website. Also, the layout of the battery cover is totally different, which is why the cutouts on the shield don't match your battery cover. This also accounts for the 3rd small hole on this piece. In addition to the camera lens and speakerphone button, the unbranded TP2 has small holes for the speaker just below the speakerphone button, and that is what the 3rd hole in the shield is for. I'm guessing on the T-Mob version, the speaker hole is located as part of the larger cutout/hole.
Not to be mean but it's really obvious that it wasn't made for a T-Mobile Touch Pro2 and you should have known that it wasn't the right one.
Just going to the Touch Pro2 forums you can see that there's different versions of the device and ours is usually always referred as the "T-Mobile Touch Pro2" when being specific.
The cover does seem worth buying though.
Yeah i just inquired about it. I did buy the T-Mobile one and they just sent the wrong one.

Oddly, the Tilt2 had little holes in the back case in the same spot, despite the fact that it is just the battery sitting behind the holes. I always figured it was just a way to give water quick access to the battery compartment to turn that little strip pink incase we ever dropped it somewhere damp...

Vent-mount Car Dock

So I've found some vent-mount car docks on eBay (mainly shipping from overseas and all for the International versions of the Note). Does anyone know of any vent-mount car docks being sold in the U.S. (I just want it to arrive fast) and for the AT&T version of the Note?
Main reason I want the vent-mount instead of the official windshield/dash mount is because I had the Atrix on a windshield mount and the Atrix screen got heat damaged. I want to avoid that problem with my Note.
Thanks in advance!
UPDATE:
I ended up getting all of the following:
Car Mount: http://www.proclipusa.com/brodit-device-holder/samsung-galaxy-note-(gt-n7000)/holder-with-tilt-swivel-511303-18842.aspx (with associated mount for my specific car)
Case: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006ZZTCZI/ref=oh_o00_s00_i00_details
Screen Protector: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00772FXX8/ref=oh_o01_s00_i00_details
USB Car Charger: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0064X1COK/ref=oh_o02_s00_i00_details
I love this phone
In case anyone is also looking for this, I decided to take the advice from another post I saw in the other car dock thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=22693025#post22693025

I appreciate your link to them. I would never have found them without it (I've googled a LOT ).
I love the idea of that case, its like a wallet and phone case in one. However I can imagine that the credit cards pressing against the screen are going to leave visible marks on your screen. Maybe not scratches or damage, but lines where the plastic/dirt will be rubbing against the glass.
Its a similar problem that happens with some laptops where the keyboard leaves marks on then screen when closed and moved a lot.
screen protecter installed? ^^

It's something I'll definitely keep a watchful eye on, but thanks for pointing it out (I didn't really think about this). I'm not sure yet about using it as my wallet, but I'd like to eventually be able to. A lot of credit card companies are now doing flat cards (no raised bevel on the numbers, since they're really not useful like that anymore). Also I'll definitely have the screen protector on it and hopefully that'll save any wear/tear on the screen itself.

Gumdrop Hideaway with Stand - Ruggedized Case - Review

I read a lot of reviews about this case , but not a single review that pointed out a serious problem with this case.
after being so disappointed with it, I also reviews it on amazon .
This was a waste of money !!!
I bought this case cover so I'll have some peace of mind, not fearing that my tablet would fall and break .
I put it over the tablet and it looked great , it felt like it would defiantly keep my note pro 12.2 safe .
BUT, I started noticing that the screen became less responsive to the touch , AND also the pen started to put out some deformed lines.
Around the middle of the screen, strait lines that i drew with the pen became curved , i tried to draw a box and could not get the line strait until i moved the canvas to the side of the screen.
After reading what other reviewers said , I guessed this was something to do with the plastic screen protector part of the case.
So i removed the plastic cover, the screen became more responsive to the touch as before, BUT!!! it changed nothing for the stylus accuracy.
I started putting lines all over my screen and i found out a 1\4inch dead-spot around the home button , the pen could not draw in that area , it just carved around it. This curvature was going through to some extent all the way to the middle of the screen , and was the reason for the strait lines becoming curved .
I thought that maybe it was something with the home button.
IT was Not!
The problem was the strong magnet at the back of the case, the same magnet that holds the hide-away stand in place.
as soon as i completely removed the cover , things went back to normal , and i could draw strait lines once again.
I don't know if having a constant magnetic field could permanently harm my wacom digitizer in the screen.
But since i bought the tablet for art making , it was useless if it don't have good pen accuracy.
If you Buy this Cover for the note, and plan to use it with the s-pen, then forget about it !
AM I THE ONLY ONE WHICH THIS CASE THAT HAS THIS PROBLEM????
No, you're not. Most cases have this problem. In fact I was quite surprised to find that the Samsonite flipcover I bought recently didn't interfere with the Wacom sensors.
The magnetic field doesn't harm the Wacom digitizer. The problem is just that the Wacom digitizer also uses magnetics, and two magnets don't exactly work very well together.
There is no material that can block magnetic fields, so you can't solve it with a simple strip of fabric. (Although a strip of velvet or leather tends to help somewhat) You can try to cut out the magnet.
Something to know: There are two versions of magnetic systems in covers:
> The cheap, generic solution. Which is a single, relatively strong, magnet This causes problems with Wacom digitizers. It also causes problems with the tablets shutting off on their own for no reason.
> The more high-end brands use a different system, of a long magnetic strip or line. The overall magnetic strength is identical, but it is spread out enough so as to not interfere with the digitizers and sensors. My Samsonite apparently has this. (I emailed them.)

Actually, I asked an Amazon Q&A question about it and everyone who answered were too dumb to notice the magnet affecting the pen input. After I provided instructions to prove the problem exists, the price dropped from about $60 to $30. Man I don't get people. I am 100% sure everyone's Gumdrop has this issue, yet people are oblivious about it. Either they don't use the pen or they don't bother actually checking for the problem.
The question I asked:

After returning the Gumdrop, I bought an Otterbox and I am satisfied.

The last answer you received is:
"Not sure what issues your referenceing but we have been using this case for 3 months now with no issues at all, not even with the stylist."
Ronica Gomez
Me to never has a stylist for my tablet.
very strange what ppl where saying .
I guess most of them use the stylus as a finger replacement rather then a drawing tool.
