Sim network unlock PIN - Galaxy S6 Edge Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone,
Everytime I open the phone I'm asked to enter a Sim network unlock PIN.
At first I talked with my carrier, which tried to give me few PINs to unlock the network lock, but none of them worked.
After reading a while on the internet (and also as it says on the box) I suspected that this is about the Region Lock samsung implemented in it's new devices.
I bought my device in Europe (and well, I don't live in Europe).
I talked with the shop I bought the device from just to make sure the device is not sim locked, and they claim that they indeed sell only sim free devices, so I turned to Samsung.
After talking with Samsung in the country I bought the device, I was given an unlock PIN, but unfortunately, it doesn't work.
Do you have any idea what could it possibly be?
Maybe I tried too many times wrong PINs and the network is locked now? Don't know already....
P.S.
All the phone features works fine (if I go out of the screen with the PIN request), except for mobile internet and calls of course.
Images attached below.

They claim wrong that my friend is sim locked & you will need to find out what carrier its locked to, that carrier will have specific codes.
At least that is my understanding.

Thanks, but based on what info are you so sure?
I talked with the shop again and they INSIST their devices are sim free.
I need to have some kind of proof to argue that.
And also, I'd like to hear more opinions please...

BUMP - any ideas please?

Have the shop were you bought it from replace the phone or you can call the carrier that the phone is lock to and request the unlock code. It should be very easy to determine that by firmware build number (For example: G925P is Sprint)

Just confirmed it's a G925F... so it's not sim locked, as the shop stated.

This phone is simlocked to a network. You need to find out what network it is locked to then get a unlock code.
Once you enter an unlock code it will be unlocked to all network....

Ebay is a cheap place to get unlock code but you NEED to know the original network

Why can't it be? that is a model number for UK handset but it doesn't mean anything else. All UK and europe (also middle east) models are G925F , some are network locked and some are not.
Accept it and do something about it. Ask for refund or ask the seller to get you unlock code.

Ok thanks. Thought all G925F are sim unlocked and cannot be locked...
Is there a way to tell the network it's locked to? (because I know what the shop is going to say: "no, its not unlocked so we dont know the network...")

Not sure, try GalaxSim Unlock from the play store. It might tell you

Doesnt seem to support S6.

Regional Lock
Your phone is regionally locked., which means you should unlock it with a Europian SIM card before using in an other country.

If you cant unlock by codes, buy usb unlockhere. Takes only a few minutes once the process starts

What you need to do is check with the shop where the phone came from? Which country the phone was bought. Once you know that you can try different sims (they are freely available from providers or ask your friends). The unlock code is a combination of Phone IMEI number and the network so you need that information.
Let me know how you get on...

[Q] Hero blocked from making calls

I tried to get my phone unlocked today, however ever since then my phone hasn't been able to connect to any networks. I had to give my Imei number to get in unlocked, is there some way this could have been used to block my phone?

Yes in theory it could. Try the old sim and see if it works.
To block an imei requires access to the network systems, although you could phone them up and perhaps maliciously block an imei.
Did you use a reputable unlocker?
I used one off ebay however they had 15000 positive feedback.
I rang T-mobile and they say my phone is not blacklisted but its also not been unlocked. I dont know if this is true as when I put my unlock code in it said unlock ok and now when I put another network sim in it doesnt ask for the code. Ive since tried to use an orange sim card in it and this works but I dont know if this is anything to do with the fact that Orange and T-mobile have merged.
If it isnt unlocked then i dont know where to put a new unlock code in.

Lol you are fine.
Tmobile don't know it is unlocked. It worked fine if the sim doesn't ask for the code now.
If an orange sim works then phone is OK. What is original problem again?
Lol sorry I havent been very clear.
Ive bought a Tesco mobile sim and that is what I want to use however when I try this sim it wont connect to the network. Ive also tried a O2 sim with the same result however an Orange sim does work
I really have no idea what could be causing it and ringing Tesco/T-mobile has been no help at all lol.
Might be a stupid question but are you sure you can get Tesco Mobile signal? Both Tesco Mobile and o2 use the o2 network. So that's probably worth checking.

Ive tried it in my girlfriends iphone and it works perfectly so I cant imagine its the signal. I'm totally flummoxed, the only thing I can think of is if the phone isnt unlocked, but then why then does the orange sim card work?
OK I've come to the conclusion that it hasn't been unlocked and the reason the Orange sim card works is something to do with their networks being joined. If this is the case is there a way of re-entering the sim unlock code?
TMOBILE has blocked your sim, you may need to root

TMOBILE has blocked your sim, you may need to root. My experience is this: I have a rooted HTC that works fine, however when I put the sim in my S2 or a second T-Mobile phone I get the error message "cannot connect to network" even though I have 5 bars.

Seen a lot of offers for IMEI unlock code for jetstream around the net. Anyone tried that? fake?
Having mine shipped tomm to the middle east...already obtained the IMEI and had it unlocked by one of those sites you mentioned...will update next week when I receive it
I got mine sent to me by a friend in the states, it was bought without a plan and came locked to at&t, I called them and explained I live in Australia but they said they couldn't unlock it. I was able to get an unlock code and made a video about it here http://youtu.be/a8eN0roRxHQ
Now it is unlocked hope that helps
Thank you everybody for feedback!
Great News - will try unlocking my HTC JetStream which will use a Middle East carrier data SIM & will update - thanks for the hint !!!
Perfectly unlocked to used with any SIM, I paid 25$ to HTCIMEIUNLOCK, waited 15 minutes, got the unlocking code, entered it and ...WOW !!! SIM unlocked.
Working perfectly on ORANGE network in Israel. If anyone wants to see here it is:

Thank you for the feedback, everybody! Definitely going to find some one with US social security number now!
Buying from outside the USA
I saw these people will sell to international customers. I do not know anything about them, though.
I have ordered mine from AT&T through a friend.

Hm Interesting.
I got my hands on a HTC jetstream test machine for their engineers and it didn't come locked. Had AT&T Logos on it as well. Could just be because it was for the Taiwan Engineers so they didn't lock it. Quite interesting.
Can anyone verified if Jetstream gets 3G/3.5G speed on US T-Mobile sim card with AWS frequency? Or just edge? Someone from XDA posted the Youtube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VcZlljP62Ew&feature=youtu.be) video saying it works on Orange network, but I realized the device was only getting "edge".

Hi,
Was wondering if the sim unlock will cause a change in the root or if the root could interfere with the sim unlock or if any future updates will revert the sim unlock to sim lock?
Wanted to be sure before unlocking the sim.

I unlocked my Jetstream a couple of months ago. I rooted the jetstream last week and didn't see any issues. Although now I am bricked because of an unrelated reason. But you won't see any problems with unlocking your SIM.

Rooted first but now cannot sim unlock
Hello Everyone,
I have a Jetstream ATT which I rooted with developer d00mlord's stuff. Recently I decided to unlock it from the ATT network. The unlock code says unlock successful, but after rebooting it comes back up with the same locked screen. This will happen over and over again. This is happening with an ATT sim card too, so that I cannot use the data features with anything but wifi. The company who provided the unlock code tells me it may be due to the tablet having been rooted, and that I will need to factory reset everything. So, I am hoping that someone might be able to tell me what I should do. I have noticed that this thread addresses the sim unlock first and then a root afterwards, but not the other way around. I cannot seem to find a thread that is more relevant. This is my first posting and I am brand n00b so thank you very much for even reading this over.
when you say locked screen..what exactly do you mean?
for other sims to work you need to add a proper APN (maybe even for at&t after the unlocking). try googling: "the name of your provider + APN settings"
and add it to the settings>wireless>mobile networks

HTC UK model Sim Locked with Three Mobile 3G Sim

Hello,
I managed to get a brand new UK Model HTC Flyer 32Gb on Ebay for£280. I was told it was sim-free.
Everything was fine until I put in a Three Mobile (3 UK) 3G Pay as you go sim and the HTC is telling me it is Sim Locked - please contact operator.
I have just paid £20 to MobileUnlocked.co.uk based on the IMEI number and 2 hrs of waiting no unlock code.
Does anyone know what the default UK Telco a HTC model direct from HTC would be locked to?
How many unlock attempts do I get on the HTC?
What happens if I go over the unlock try amount?
I've just done a hard-reset so at least the tablet is usable again, no longer prompting for SIM Network Unlock Code (8 digits).
Any advise please?
Thanks

Unlimited on the device but usually three before the sim goes to network locked state.

You'll need the PUK corresponding to the sim to unlock the sim.

It is unclear whether the device is sim locked or the sim card is locked out if you can clarify that situation then it might be possible to help.
I have put both a 3UK sim and also a O2 sim into the HTC, each time it is asking for a network unlock code. Unless I do a hard reset it stays on the unlock request screen become unusable.
I think on that basis (but I am unsure) I think the device is sim locked to a specific UK based network.
Right all sorted - just to avoid confusion (because I was confused!) my HTC had a network lock so that only a certain sim from a UK telco would work.
Finally got the 8 digit unlock code and both my 3Uk and O2UK sim work on the HTC now.
Thanks

I had to pay £20 and provide IEMI number to mobileunlocked.co.uk
There are other SIM lock unlockers out there just need to search on google.
(Admin not sure if link allowed so delete if necessary regarding above).
Hi,
We just wanted to post a public apology for the delay that 87k experienced with their order. Usually our HTC unlock codes do take just a matter of minutes, but their order did take a while longer because of delays with our supplier.

You test it by placing a different carrier's SIM in the device and seeing if it works (you get signal, ability to make a call, etc.).
You can get an unlock code online. You enter the IMEI of your device and websites (I can only find those that charge for it) will give you the code to unlock it.
You can also contact T-Mobile, but I don't know if they'll give it to you.
I think s=off also removes the lock.

S-OFF does not carrier unlock a device. The OP's device is supposedly already unlocked, but they just want to test if it really is.

Unlocking a prepaid Verizon LG V60 while abroad

Hi,
Is there any way to unlock a prepaid Verizon LG V60 while abroad ?
The phone is not asking for a network unlock code
so inserting your overseas sim card, it doesn't say any thing? and when trying to make a call, it doesn't ask for unlock code?
maybe try factory reset and hope the tmobile verizon app appears again... i believe it's a software lock. and once there is a way to flash other roms, then that might help.

Usually only the AT&T version is the one that asks for a code. Other will have to be remotely unlocked.
ok cos i think my tmobile one asked for unlock code, but my friend did it for me, so not sure. if only we could flash new unlocked rom from another region.

May I know if the verizon unlocked your phone? (While abroad and not connected on verizon network), If yes, did it follow the 60days unlock policy? Thanks in advance for your answer.
