Thanks for understanding and for helping to keep XDA neat and tidy!

Edit: Well NM. I've gotten back into the bootloader. Just have to figure out how to get a working restore going. Is it possible to do one from the update-kindle-20.4.5.3_user_453011120.bin file from Amazon direct and just completely start over?
*************
I got TWRP Installed. and then after trying to clear some things I ended up where my device stays at the Amazon logo at startup.
Am I bricked? Or is there any way to force the thing to boot back into TWRP instead of loading the main OS?

Any chance of the recovery being added back to the app. When I try to get it from the app it says it's downloading, then goes to a cloudflare page that says "The page you are looking for cannot be found".

Fire HD 7 (ARIEL)
I was wondering is there any way to boot customs ROMS now with TWRP and unlocked bootloader because when attempting to flash CM12 with TWRP it fails... Plus, I heard about have a "second bootloader" but thats only for the second generation fire-hd tablets...

I'm having an issue restoring backups. The /system directory is failing to restore with the error "extractTarFork() process ended with ERROR=255" I checked the mounts before starting the restore, and /system is mounted rw. If I check the mounts after the error, /system is ro. I also made sure that I didn't have the "mount /system read-only" checkbox clicked under mounts on twrp.
If I save off the system log, I see entries like:
I:Unable to unlink '/system/app/Bluetooth.odex: Read-only file system'
and
lchown("/system//app/", 0, 0): Read-only file system
FAILED SETTING PERMS: -1
I'm on firmware version 4.5.4 on a Fire HD 7. I followed DoLooper's directions (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=61832754&postcount=10) to get there. Not exactly sure what could be going wrong.

So, I solved my issue. DoLooper updated the 4.5.4 update zipfile in his post on 7/20. I installed that update and suddenly everything started working right again. Not sure what was wrong with the original....

Fire HD 6 & TWRP (ariel)
Where can I download TWRP for a Fire HD 6? When I use the TWRP Manager and select the "Recovery Version to Install" option, the app just closes itself. There is a download link provided by jmz but I get this message when I try to download it:
access denied
looks like you don't have permission to access this folder. Make sure you are signed in to an account that has permission, or check with the developer to request access.

It is also not listed on TWRP's website. My fire was downgraded using the 5.0 dev preview to 4.5.3 and rooted using KingRoot.

Where to get the newest TWRP manager
I don't have access to google play yet. I tried the older version of manager, it crashed when attempting to install TWRP. Hoping the new version will work so I can proceed to step #4 according to this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/fire-hd/general/root-v2-0-fireos-4-5-4-gapps-t3150613
Thanks,
Em.

You can try here: http://www.apkmirror.com/?s=twrp+manager&post_type=apps_post. Or use Flashify. (Can find apk at apkmirror.) Here's install info if you need it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=61769246&postcount=7

Thank you for your quick reply. The managers there are all older than the one I tried earlier, so I'm going to try Flashify instead. I'll report back.

Sorry, such a hurry to try that I don't even know how to sideload. So from the computer, the command is:
adb sideload flashifyfilename.apk

adb install flashifyfilename.apk. Open terminal/CMD window from the folder where the apk is. Don't hurry. Follow steps I linked before.
EDIT: @Emerald9 - That step 1 was for guy I wrote it for. By sideload there I meant copy from computer to device (and install with a file explorer). You need to adb install.

SUCCESS! A huge thank you for all of you that have worked on this.
When I tried the sideload command, it gave an error, so install did it. I do not know what I am doing, but I can follow step-by-step instructions .
So before upgrading to 4.5.4 and gapps, I should back up, correct? And Are the default backup options sufficient?

There's not really anything to back up; /data is pretty clean. If you want step-by-step, try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=61832754&postcount=10
EDIT: @Emerald9 Again steps were for someone who had file explorer. You'll need to adb install JMZ fire tool. At step 6, look at top of TWRP screen and be sure you're installing to system, not recovery.

DoLooper,
Thank you for your patience with me. I am at step #6, and I don't see the option to install to system/recovery? The file that I should select is the 454_update.zip, right?

Yes. Wasn't sure if there were 2 options, so just install it.

Thank you so much for your clear instructions, DoLooper. My mom's Fire is rooted with working Google Play. I went through this whole journey just because she wanted a bible app that was not available in Amazone store. I notice Silk browser is not working...but will do some search here.
Have a great day,

This happened to someone else and they had to do a reinstall and had problems. I suggest you install a different browser app. (I use Dophin, but others like Firefox. Chrome will also work, but may be big.) After installing new browser, block Silk (named "cloud9"), which should make the icon disappear (I hope). Handy tool to easily block/unblock anything is gatesjunior Debloater. Alternatively, run following command from terminal/CMD window:
adb shell pm block com.amazon.cloud9
Please tell me where you got the 4.5.4 update file you used. I need link to the post that you downloaded it from. Thanks.

The 4.5.4 file was from your link that you included in your step by step instructions.
I already installed Chrome, but per your advice, will replace with Dolphin. Is it possible to have 100% amazon experience with GooglePlay? Mom is used to Amazon Fire as she's been using it for awhile.

If Chrome fit in /system and works, keep it. Let me think about 100% Amazon experience. Will edit this shortly.
@Emerald9: I think using the stock launcher (carousel) should be fine, but can't say for sure because most folks want/use a custom launcher. If something doesn't work or crashes, post in Q&A explaining that she's running from Amazon launcher.

I am new to Android. Been doing much reading lately regarding the Honor and have not found a solution to root my phone or install custom ROMs. I am looking at installing MIUI ROMs.
I have a similar problem. I flashed my ROM to the latest Huawei one. Now I am unable to access pink screen, nothing from USB gets mounted. And in my Recovery Mode, I kept on having "Installation Aborted" due to "Invalid signatures". Did Huawei lock my bootloader? I do not see a "Install zip from sdcard". I only have install
I am using Build Version: V100R001C1B923SPO03. Kernel version: 3.0.8.

5. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1736650 (I understand I may have a locked bootloader, So how do I get an unlocked one to install the MIUI ROM I wanted?
6. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1552038 is a great thread which I tried to follow many steps but still did not achieve a rooted Custom ROM ICS.
/edit: I should also add: Windows does not seem to be able to install the Drivers for "Huawei Technologies" and "Unknown Device". I have Googled and none seemed to point at a solution.
I am really at a loss now because I have tried many solutions and none seems to work. I can't even get rid of the useless Chinese apps and install Google Play and get some useful applications. I think I may have screwed up quite a bit, PLEASE HELP!!!
This way: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=28403132&postcount=799
Should be work. I had the same problem, it solved.
Please try again, then install gapps manually.
if you have any gapp that is not work well, move the APK file from DATA/APP to SYSTEM/APP folder and change the permissions of group and other to read only and then restart the device.
i'll try to search for you short movie that explain how you do it.

Thanks for replying so quickly.
I have tried your recommendation but again there's a problem. I seem to have a problem connecting to "adb server". And I do not have a custom Recovery or a rooted Andoid. The batch executable (root-me-cmd) will not run finish. It always stops at adb server.
Also, in Disk Manager, under Other Devices, there's the Android one, but it doesnt update. The computer cannot find where to download the drivers. And in Disk Manager, Android is always under Other Devices and attempts to manually on the device but it also had failed.
I am really at a loss. I am not sure how I can resolve the problems with my phone.
I thought of flashing back the original 2.3.5 GingerBread, but that requires a recovery image.
Hi,
I think you need a correct driver,
Try to install driver with this software: http://www.huaweidevice.com/worldwi...=toDownloadFile&flay=software&softid=Mzk1MzA=
then run "root-me.cmd" again.
I hope you will succeed this time.

Hi kobire. Thanks for informing. I have gotten the Android USB drivers.
Good news and bad news: Using the batch script, I have rooted my Huawei Chinese build to V100R001CHNC00B923SP03. I see a Superuser app in the app drawer. To make that work, I had to install HiSuite to get the adb server settled properly.
1. I am unable to access custom recovery, i.e. "Install from zip"
2. In pink screen mode, my computer do not see any Image for recovery mounted. As a result I do not know how to install other ROMs or even roll back the ROM. I cannot progress any further. I would really like Install from zip, get back my gapps!
Attached is a screenshot of my problem in Device Manager. I have manually added them from Legacy Devices. Automatic or manual search for drivers wouldnt help much now.

My Honor /edit is confirmed be rooted though. So does that help?
/edit:
I have installed Root Explorer. I am able to navigate to the /.cust_backup folder, and have backed up the contents. I was thinking whether I could copy over the recovery image through this Root Explorer app without bricking the phone? i.e. "8. A few disks should be mounted, search for the one that has an "image" folder with an recovery.img and a boot.img inside it. rename the recovery.img to recovery-bak.img (or simular) and copy recovery-u8860-en.img there and rename it to recovery.img"
3. Will I get a custom recovery in that case? I will not have entered pink screen mode though. Any comments?
Congratulations! You succeed to get root!
Unfortunately, in this version(B923) there is no access to change the recovery by the pink screen.
But the good news, you can manually install google account, gmail, google talk
It will work perfectly.
The only problem is google play. You must move the "com.android.vending.apk" to folder: system/app. and change the permissions of "group" and "other" in the properties to read only and then restart the device. then google play will work perfectly.
Recommended to move the other "com.google ... APK" into this folder, but it is not required.
i recommend using ES File Explorer
I have attached pictures.
I hope I helped you.
Thank you very much for your reply! Thank you also for the effort u put into uploading the pictures and posting detailed instructions on how to get Gapps working!
I have found out what is my problem. The problem lies h the phone bootloader being locked and unable to allow me access into \image folder. Thus I couldn't install CWM and Custom ROMs.
After days of trying to root my phone using the various methods shared by forumers here, I have finally rooted my phone, installed Custom Recovery, and my MIUI Custom ROM.
Would like to share the workaround. It is very simple, as pointed out by Singapore forums on the Honor. B919 (I confirm) is the only Build that allows Custom Recovery.
Detailed instructions found here:

Nice!
Can you tell me how long it takes to copy file over wifi?
I had an idea to do this with the files manually copied to the usb drive. I wanted the instructions to be where the user copies the script file to a thumb drive along with one or all of the bueller.xxxxx.bin files. the script does a list of bin files in current director and and lists them with numbers and waits for user to enter a number to select the file of choice (this allows for downgrading also.) it then performs actions. chmod, echo then cp and reboot in the script file. this should be rather easy for someone who has scripting skills with input & variables in android.
update.zip Did Not Convert
I copied this firmware update, bueller-ota-51.1.1.0_user_511069920-signed.bin, to the Fire TV Firmware Restore Tool and renamed it to update.zip. I did not get the popup regarding changing the extension. And the update.zip file remains with a .bin extension as seen below. Any ideas on why it did not convert?
Just wanted to chime in and say thanks, I had tried to do the manual upgrade one my 2nd fire tv and it was not working for some reason, this did the trick and was easy to use. Ended up getting the firmware updated and the remote upgrade for both my fire TV's so thanks for this!

I set Windows 7 to show extensions for known file types. I then changed the name to update.zip and it converted to a compressed zip file. Below is what is showing in the Fire TV Firmware Restore Tool.
And below is the content of the update.zip folder.
Can I proceed with the firmware upgrade? I am somewhat concerned because your video shows the update.zip file type to be to be "ZIP File" where as my file type is "Compressed (zipped) Folder (.zip)" .

Finally Have The New Firmware Update
Took the plunge with Amazon Fire TV Firmware Installer Tool and installed the latest firmware update. It worked like a charm. It really bothered me that this update was taking so long to arrive and now I finally have it. BTW, you will also have immediate access to the remote control firmware update as well, by going into KFTV settings. Thanks for providing a video tutorial and the tool necessary for achieving this milestone for me.

Any chance you can add in StickMount and moving apps to an external drive? Thats the next big thing I want to do. It would be awesome if it could be automated, then I could install XBMC as my dashboard and be all set. Im holding off installing XBMC just because there is so little storage space on the FireTV.
Hey there this seems like a great tool! But, having a bit of an issue right now. My FTV is rooted with busy box installed. I ran the firmware update tool and everything seemed to go as planned, but my FTV in recovery said the update not successful and rebooted into the old firmware. Now I do have Xposed installed with some modules and XBMC launcher also installed and running. I also have the OTA update also disabled. Would these things cause this error? Any help is much appreciated! Cheers
I used version 2 of the tool and it worked GREAT!!!! I will say it DID take a while to upload the firmware to the point I thought something went wrong. It took about 23 minutes before I saw the install screen on my TV...BUT it DID work!!!!!!! Thanks for making this script!!!

Is there a tutorial on how to root the G3 via a Mac? This will be my 2nd time rooting but 1st time on a mac if it's even possible.

So I'm attempting to root my Verizon G3 and I can't get past an early step.
I download the zip and extracted it to my desktop as instructed. When I open the folder and click the ioroot.bat file, instead of opening the script, I get this error:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",

}
Any advice on what's going on?
If I attempt to open the file from the zip without extracting, it will open the script, but when I press "any key to continue", the script flashes some text at the bottom of the window and then closes almost immediately before I can see what it says.
Hoping someone can help me out. I'm somewhat a novice but have rooted many Androids before including Galaxy S3's, Note2's, HTC One M7, HTC Evo and Evo3D. This one's got me perplexed.
Thanks!

Looks like you're not in an Administrator account and don't have access to certain folders. I named my computer "Precious" and that account is the Administrator. My path to desktop looks like this:
C:\Precious\Desktop\ioroot
I'm thinking this is your problem and is why tutorials/How-To's for Android adb/fastboot tell you to be at the root folder ie: C:\Android, C:\adb, etc. However, running something like ioroot at the Admin desktop is sufficient.

Well it appears there just isnt an ioroot.bat in that folder you extracted. Not really a permissions issue. Maybe you/pc missed a file when you extracted.
Edit: or just add the .bat extension back to the file that seems to be missing. Your other files are showing their extension.

It's cut off on the right, but the zip included all the files needed for someone wanting to root from a Windows, Mac or Linux machine. The file labeled simply "ioroot" in my picture above is the .bat file. You can see all the way to the right it starts to say "Windows Batch File" before it was cut off by my screen capture. So the file is the .bat file that Windows runs. I also tried your suggestion about adding the .bat to the ioroot file and that didn't work either...
The user profile I am under on this computer IS an administrator profile and I've also tried to "right click - run as administrator" and that didn't work.
I tried downloading the Zip again and that didn't work either. So I'm still stuck with nothing working.
I'll try to do it on a different computer when I get a chance.
Thanks for yall's replies

How do I do this on a Mac? Ugh!
Got my G3 rooted and tether working with no problems! Thanks @owenbeals
Sent from my VS985 4G using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Works fine.
Worked. The only (minor) hiccups I had were:
1. I had to use the msi version of the drivers (in the link as well, but not first)
2. At some point the usb connection switched back to MTP so when I was running the BAT file nothing was happening. As soon as I switched the usb connection back to Ethernet, the process kicked right in.
The side-load worked automatically for me (in the video, the demo showed the person having to manually side-load a file). If your pc process shows side-load 100%, just choose the reboot option on phone and finish by installing SuperSU, as the video says, and you are done.
Thanks, this was easy. I can't stand having a phone w/o root.

By default, Windows sets "Folder Options" to "Hide file extensions for known file types". As an information security professional, this is the stupidest thing ever. MS is trying to keep their tech support calls down by keeping people from seeing (and also editing/deleting) their file extensions). However, there are plenty of viruses out there that take advantage of this "feature".
My advice to anyone reading this thread (if you haven't already), is to go to Folder Options and uncheck the box that hides file extensions for known file types. Just be careful when renaming files. You'll be fine!!

However, this version is not pre-rooted, it is the latest release as of now (rel. date 2016-07-19).
To update:
Extract the 3 files (update.zip, factory_update_param.aml & recovery.img) to the SD Card
start the "update / backup" app on your box
select the update.zip and confirm
box will restart and install the new firmware
other version pre-rooted?
I try to find to root this tv box but i loose my time.

All releases so far are not rooted. You can gain root access via ADB though.
I used adbLink to open the shell & "mount -o remount,rw /system".
Deleted the bootanimation and other things to test if it actually works... it does.
Editing the build.prop is also possible (ro.adb.secure=0, ro.secure=0, for example).
I tried to install my own version of TWRP 3.x, the command was successful ("dd if=/sdcard/recovery.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk1p6") but it didn't stick and the stock recovery was still active.
Since it's Marshmallow, I wasn't able to manually recreate the systemless root method.
I'm not going to try further for now, waiting if they will release an update, etc.
Bingo,
Can you make a root installer for this device or do we need chainfire to make a new SuperSU? I have 50 units that I need to root but can't find an installer. I need it for Titanium Backup to restore my custom setup.

I'm looking into it, but with my limited knowledge, most approaches seem to be a dead end due to Marshmallow. (It's also my first box ever bought in general...)
I already have my custom TWRP img ready, but it doesn't stick when I flash it.
ADB says it was "dd" successfully but rebooting straight to recovery brings up the stock recovery.
I hope someone beats me to it. ^^
I also wrote an inquiry, asking for an IMG file, so I can use with the customization tool... I don't think they have one ready yet...
And those twats sitting on the source files and can't poop out an alternative variant of the firmware with root? Beetch please.
AFAIK, all boxes with Android 6 are in this state (looked at some other firmwares).
The old tricks from Lollipop don't work here anymore, like booting a custom recovery.img from SD, etc.
edit: can't mount "sbin" as RW (ofc. knowing where it's coming from)
edit: tried an old signed ZIP (root update for Android 4.x) via stock recovery: it went through, verified... I'm afraid this won't work with a custom ZIP trying to recreate latest SuperSU install method...

SuperSU would work "ootb" but the stock firmware has no 'unzip' in 'sbin', so the original script will fail.
And since we don't have a custom recovery that can support 'unzip'. that's another dead end.
I tried flashing 3 different versions of my custom recovery zip (with diff. timestamp, etc).
They all went through without error but the device isn't even bothered, still brings up the stock recovery.
I also modified the original update.zip that contains the whole firmware with all partitions and just replaced the recovery.
Signed it, flashed it, no error, reboot... yup, stock recovery is still there. ^^
edit: small progress, I can now update the recovery... as proof I changed the "error pic" with the little droid and wrote something nice on it ^^

Awesome Bingo Bronson! At least it's a start. Now if only we could get TWRP working on these... I've tried all the S905 TWRP img files available but no joy yet, at least not booting from microSD card. Android 6.0 Marshmallow has been rooted on several smart phones; can we learn something from those methods and maybe hack together a working root?

SDK 23 devices do things slightly different, yes, but the main reason for the old images not working is (ofc. ^^) the ramdisk cpio and the small but important differences in the hardware (boards) and the according references in the files.
I'm going through the ramdisk cpio piece by piece as we speak, takes "a while" for users like me...
Let's hope it will at least boot with an error and not just flicker and remain on the "Google TV" bootloader screen.
I'm editing the stock recovery from 2016-07-28 (language fix update).
If I fail numerous times, I will get on my knees and send Abdul the files and some monayyy. ?
edit: calling it a day... will continue tomorrow afternoon (GMT+1 ^^)
So basically if someone can get TWRP to boot on these then root should be fairly easy? I guess the only road block after that would be getting sbin mounted rw so we can install the SuperSU binary.

I've used systemless root on a number of 6.0.1 devices... Qualcomm, MTK... based one the arch. this one should work just as well.
'sbin' is part of the ramdisk, so it's always 'ro' (hence: "knowing where it's coming from" ^^) so no need to try to force anything here.
Btw. that was the default 'sbin' from the stock system, the 'sbin' from a custom recovery has all the goodies on board.
Ramdisk: applying the changes necessary for TWRP is not that difficult, just need to finish the matching ramdisk cpio...
That being said, I haven't gotten anything done since my last post which is annoying... had to work on "non Android" related things.
Currently rechecking the blocks & partition table, so everything can be mounted properly (given it boots up ^^).
Any updates?

I gave up with slapping it together manually, I may try again on the weekend when I'm able to use my Linux PC again and build it from source like it should be done...
If you want to try, your updater-script can look like this:
Code:
set_bootloader_env("upgrade_step", "3");
write_raw_image(package_extract_file("recovery.img"), "recovery");
show_progress(0.200000, 10);
set_bootloader_env("upgrade_step", "1");
set_bootloader_env("force_auto_update", "false");
I had the fstab files edited with the info from the block & partitions report but no success so far.
( I avoided porting / using old files from TV boxes running Android L based firmwares...)

This Guide assumes you have some basic knowledge and can at least copy and paste for the most part! It is Intended for advanced users!!!!!!!!
This Guide also Assumes you have an sdcard inserted in your phone(however some of you may not and this will not work.)
This Does NOT Trip Knox.
Read this entire post before doing anything to avoid issues and FOLLOW Directions - if you don't things will not work right.
Note! if at anytime during the following steps you see the samsung boot animation before step 11. start over cause you screwed up!
Step 1. Initial PreSetup Requirements and Downloads
Make Sure your ExtSDCard(the one you put in your sim tray) is formated exfat(backup your card before you do this in windows or linux(whichever you use))
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24651430732237653 bbx.rar

Step 2. extract system.rar and bbx.rar and then copy system.img and bbx to your extsdcard(the sdcard you inserted into your phone)
Step 3. odin sprint userdebug firmware available here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-note-7/how-to/root-super-leaky-bros-sprint-galaxy-t3447202
Step 4. Directly after odin is done with the sprint file you will immidiatly be presented with an update screen
Step 4a when this process of erasing your phone is finished it will reboot(this is the point you want to do the next step)
Step 4b. press and hold power, home and vol up to enter recovery
Step 4c If you see the samsung boot animation. you did NOT do this right and i would suggest you start over
Step 5. open a command prompt in your adb folder and do the following steps 1 at a time(these are case sensative)
Step 5a. adb shell
Step 5b. su
Step 5c. setenforce 0
Step 5d. export PATH=$PATH:/sbin
Step 5e. mount -o remount,rw /
Step 5f. on your phone, go to apply update from sdcard(this will mount your extsdcard as /sdcard and you should see the system.img file and the bbx file) do not select anything, go back to adb and continue(it is not a big deal if those files don't show. we just needed the extsdcard mounted as sdcard - the files exist, just continue to the next step)
Step 5g. cp /sdcard/bbx /sbin/bbx
Step 5h. chmod 777 /sbin/bbx
Step 5i. cd /sbin
Step 5j. ./bbx --install /sbin
Step 5k. umount -l /system
Step 5l. /sbin/dd if=/sdcard/ATT_System.img of=/dev/block/platform/soc/624000.ufshc/by-name/system
Note. you will see a blinking cursor. just be patient
Step 7. when it is done you will see something similar to this
11161600+0 records in
11161600+0 records out
5714739200 bytes (5.3GB) copied, 268.668086 seconds, 20.3MB/s
Step 8. if all went well you should be at your prompt and not in adb anymore
Step 9. from your command prompt simply type
Step 9a. adb reboot bootloader
Step 10. open odin and click the bl button and select this file - BL_N930AUCS1APH1_CL8706614_QB10526661_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5
Step 10b. now click the cp button and select this file - CP_N930AUCS1APH1_CL8706614_QB10526661_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5
Step 10c. now click start. it will reboot when done let it fully boot this time.
Step 11. once booted and you have setup your phone, we need to add the root files or supersu as most of you know it
Note! pertaining to Step 12. these instructions were taken Explicitly from @freeza thread which is listed in step 3
Step 12. Now we need to add supersu and the needed files for it to work
Step 12a. download this file - https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24651430732236679
Step 12b. Extract the sun7 file to your adb folder making sure the files are in a folder called sun7(mine looks like this - c:/adb/sun7 and contains 4 files)
Step 12c. Open a command prompt where your ADB executable and sun7 folder are.
Step 12d. adb shell
Step 12e. su - Note! if your adb prompot changes from a $ to #(you are good and have root access)
Step 12f. type exit twice to get back to the command prompt. - Your Phone should be fully booted when you do this
Step 12g. adb push sun7 /data/local/tmp/su
Step 12h. adb shell chmod 0777 /data/local/tmp/su/*
Step 12i. adb shell
Step 12j. cd data/local/tmp/su
Step 12k. su
Step 12l. ./root.sh - Note. this command begins with a . do not leave it out
Step 12m. Your Phone will now reboot
Step 13. when booted back up go to playstore and install busybox on rails or a similar app and install busybox to /system/xbin(if your given an option of where to install it)
Step 14. Thats Pretty Much it. most of all enjoy it
Additional Notes!
If for any reason you do a factory reset. you will break root and need to redo this method to get it back
If you use shealth do not update it or allow playstore or galaxy appstore to auto update it or it will break it
Enjoy and FOLLOW Directions - if you don't things will not work right.

This Method Completely replaces the Sprint files with AT&Ts. with exception to the kernel, recovery and the su binary. so everything once complete is now AT&T and not sprint with AT&T touchs thrown in to make it work.
as we don't have an unlocked bootloader, there is no twrp recovery. but flashfire takes it place. so any changes you want to make are basically done the same way as they would be for twrp except they are now flashed through flashfire.
to get rid of the security notice you will get(because the system is now rooted) simply install root explorer(or any root browser) and go to /system/app and delete securitylogagent or go into the folder and rename it adding .bkp to the end of the file name and reboot.

Thank you for making this root method happen, can't wait for replacement note 7s to come out. Already got my case and other accessories coming soon in the mail next week.
I will definitly try this, as soon as I get home from work, before the new replacements come, just in case.
@OvrDriVE Thanks man and sorry I couldnt been much help.
Since I use Samsung pay most of the time, I think I will wait until my Gear S2 is able to use SSPay before I root.
But def cant wait to get my N7 rooted!

Awesome. I really wanted to be a tester, but it is impossible to get a replacement for now. Sorry.

This is a short thread as of right now. Please read it~
But short fed answers.
It was stated S Health works on the older version and to not update it.
OvrDrivE also stated that Samsung Pay and Android Pay will work.
Made it so it kinda sticks out like a sore thumb

I've cut and pasted overdrive's response about Samsung Pay and Android working from post #6. "yup. this does not trip knox. just odin stock firmware and samsung pay and android pay will work again. yes they are broken by root, blame samsung. but stock firmware they work fine."
So got my replacement n7 and have software ver 1APH1, is it rootable? I know this root process is based off of the PH1 but justed wanted to make sure.
Currently trying this on my replacement Note 7, which I just got from AT&T. However, when I try to odin the Sprint file from step 3 odin is giving me a " SHA256 is invalid" error.
The file is an md5 file rather than a tar file too; I don't know if it should be

Yes, I wanted to make sure this worked before trading it in. It does work on this software version.
Could someone recommend a good app that will allow tether for us Unlimited users? Perhaps there's a way to unlock the provisioning?

Although root is working, I'm getting security warnings. "Threat Found" Unauthorized actions have been detected. Restart your device to undo any unauthorized change"
I realize I have to freeze the Security Log Agent with titanium backup.... but what exactly is the security problem and will I be at harms way by disabling the log agent?
What is it, and how to avoid?

Thanks... I was just wondering if it will cause other "Real" security issues in the future by not detecting a real problem once turned off?
Also, Wifi tether?
