This is my first project and definitly could not have been achieved without the awesome help from xda RC @Alx31, so a massive Thanks to him, Cheers!
I have been testing this for the past few days and everything works great and as it should. However any bugs found please report and i will try to fix asap (note: don't post bugs if using xposed, uninstall xposed and then see if your having the same issue)
I will endeavour to keep this up to date with official SlimLP release But be patient! I have a family, work full-time and do this when I have free time. so NO ETA requests, thanks

Hum thats a nice rom for a nice device; oh wait, my device is great, yours is mini lololol
congratz bro =)

I'll ask here the same here if you don't mind, as i won't be able to test this either soon myself... cann someone using this confirm if:
1. left/right cursor arrows are immediately shown when using keyboard (think so as it is a cm feature but in carbon for example you have to press a button first to see them)
2. is it possible to always show volume panel expanded
3. is it possible to assign long-press action to nav bar buttons to show volume panel without using hw volume buttons
4. can date be shown is status bar
finally recovery included in the rom is still cm one right? so twrp image should be flashed apart with rashr?
tia

Finally! SlimRom for our Z3C! Yes!
BTW: Did anyone managed to make Sony Camera app for CM based ROMs? Stock camera (Android camera) is horrible. Too much noise.... (yup, i lost my DRM keys and im forced to stay with stock FW with DRM mod)
EDIT: "Error executing binary in zip" FAILED.
Flashing via TWRP.

@moly82
1, as far as i recall, cursor keys are not shown immediately. there is an option to enable volume keys cursor control ( tbh i deleted the inbuilt android keyboard and use super swiftkey by djdarknight).
2. no. not at the moment but as stated in OP "SlimLP is currently in alpha/beta stage, some settings are already in place, much is still missing and it will come with time" so it may be a feature that's included at a later date.
3. you can assign long press on nav buttons to perform numerous tasks, unfortunately not the task you request.
4. Yes date can be shown in status bar.
and yes recovery is Cm, however i recommend flashing fotatwrp by kyasu https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95916177934529111 apologies i assumed most people with unlocked bootloader would have flashed this by now.
cheers

MOTHER****ING YES!!
Been waiting for this almost a year already (since I bought the phone from day one!!)

@Carach_CZ
Ive flashed this rom 5 times or more and never experienced any issue. if your still having problems flash the fotatwrp from here https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95916177934529111 via fastboot or flash using the app "Rashr" from playstore
cheers

same here! the long-awaited ROM finally arrives!! awesome! thanx @AnGrY sCoTsMaN! will report if any bug/s found(IF there's any!)!
cheers!

@AnGrY sCoTsMaN
Thanks for your hard work!
I have a question before flashing - how is this ROM doing in terms of battery life? Also, does the Ambient Display feature work on our Z3c?
Thanks in advance!!

Awesome, working great so far. Thanks so much.
WiFi disconnects quite a bit - had the same problem with cm, but cm seemed worse than this. This is so much better so far.
Vibration sensitivity control is missing, I understand this is alpha, so that feature is probably coming in the future - but just thought I'll bring it up.
Cast button on quick settings doesn't work, but then it never worked with any other rom on this phone anyways.
The compass in quick settings doesn't work, is there a way to calibrate that? Looks like another cm issue anyways.
None of the above is suppose to be feature request - just hoping to help u make this awesome rom better.
Thanks again - my new daily driver.

My first boot is taking about 10 minutes now, is that normal?
Cheers.

@flintfirewalker cheers for the feedback. Yeah some features we usually expect from slim are still missing but I imagine slim will implement them soon enough. I only noticed the WiFi dropouts last night myself but will look to see if there is a fix. As for the compass, it appears to work in my quick settings, whether it's calibrated correctly is a different story.... I'm sure there will be an app to help calibrate it. I will stay on the look out for update and fixes. On the plus side... The dedicated camera button now launches the camera lol
Sent from my Xperia Z3C using Tapatalk

Hey you're right, the camera button launches the camera... Sweet. Been missing that feature since I dumped stock. The button doesn't take pictures or focus at the moment, but very promising so far. I'll be checking this forum frequently for updates.

Some bugs I've encountered:
1) when activated in power menu, airplane mode cant be turned off the same way (the button is "stuck"?), I have to turn it off from phone settings
2) when connected to the magnetic charger, celullar coverage gets destroyed and you cant get a signal until reboot
3) changing dpi causes play store to not display modal messages (like the one that shows app permissions) and recovery to fail (its not readable at all)
4) some apps fail to be updated, for example dashclock, need to uninstall completely from rom and reinstall from play store
5) battery life is awful (or maybe i´ve been to comfortable with stock amazing batt life)
6) screen rotation acts up (even though is disabled, desktop and app drawer still rotate), maybe is a launcher issue
7) NOISY camera (but thats to be expected)
All in all, a GREAT first release. Thank you so much for the time invested and for the port, I hope you keep updating and maybe become a device mantainer
Some requests:
1) slimsizer, I use it a lot (i like my rom to be MINIMAL)
2) a good kernel recommendation (battery life on this one is just sad)
On another note, do any of you have any apps broken since lollipop? Some of my favorite games dont seem to work (might and magic , platinum solitaire, bejewled are some of them)
I´ll keep testing today and report back any bugs

@daha2002 I would check our setup!
1, nope,working fine for me.
2, cant confirm as I'm at work right now.
3, nope,working fine here
4, hmm OK I'll look into it
5, fair play battery life not as good as stock, but you've not been running the rom long enough for a true evaluation of that.
6, nope, works fine here
7, yep

sorry for off topic question, but why haven't you published validus builds for z3c?:silly:

I wouldn't call the battery terrible. Yes , it's worse than stock, but it's pretty good for custom rom.

I'm guessing once the WiFi disconnecting problem goes away and maybe with another good kernel in tow, the rom battery will be as good as the stock.

OS Version: 4.4.x KitKat
Kernel: Linux 3.0.x
Based On: AOSP
Known Issues:
SDCard/Fuse Daemon issues (aka "Music Playback Bug"). On extended music play it can suddenly happen that the playback stops.
Camcorder - Zoom on 1080p mode is buggy see below for "workaround"
Notes:
If you are running on ART, and you're having issues with an app... check this list to see whether app is known to have issues with ART.
Zoom on 1080p mode "sometimes" works... if you set camcorder to 1080p, switch to camera, change res so zoom starts working again, and then switch back to camcorder... zoom will work on 1080p :silly: However, if you turn the screen off, or close and re-open the camera, the zoom will be broken again Also, once it stops working on camcorder, it'll probably stop working on camera as well until you change the resolution/picture size
4.4 mini-FAQ
Q) My recovery won't flash the 4.4 zip... aka "Status 7 error"... what do I do?
A) Get the i9100_SlimKat_4.4.2_compat_recovery zip from this post... flash it... reboot to recovery... be amazed by new TWRP recovery... then:
Wipe - Advanced - Select cache, dalvik, system (and Data if you want FULL wipe)
Install Slim ROM + Slim Gapps
Reboot
Profit!
Q) Root doesn't work!
A) From a clean build you need to enable root access for Superuser itself. This is different from some earlier versions of android (4.2 and below) in which Superuser by default had root access on a new install. To do this, go to Settings -> Developer options -> Root access. If an app attempts to request root access before Superuser itself has access, it may cause problems with that app in the future where root requests are silently denied.
Q) Developer Options? What Developer Options? I don't see that in Settings??!?
A) By default, this is conveniently hidden from view... as it does contain settings and options that can (and will) break stuff if you don't know what you're doing. If you require access to this, Settings -> About Phone... Then tap on the Build Number 7 times.
Q) How to change DPI?
A) Currently, this feature hasn't been ported... so either change ro.sf.lcd_density to the desired value in /system/build.prop, or you'll need to install Texdroider DPI from the playstore.
Q) I upgraded and lost my sim unlock, none of the unlock tools are working?
A) Unfortunately, I have nothing but Bad News™ for you Seems Samsung locked everything down and Google played along... Get a "proper" (aka carrier) unlock... or use older versions of Android... There is nothing we can do
Q) Music just randomly stops playing... and then won't work properly until reboot and/or drains battery?
A) Unfortunately, there isn't a whole lot we can do. Due to new SDCard handling and issues with FUSE, there is a strange quirk with Exynos4 devices like i9100 and n7000 where the system freaks out and dies... users have had various levels of success trying some of the following workarounds: 1. format sdcards with ExFAT (apparently can cause issues with backups and/or GPS apps??)... 2. Put all your music on internal SD...
More details can be found in this OmniROM thread...

Built from Slim Source, no changes whatsoever.
I, Cyril, am not a developer or maintainer of any sort
These are UNOFFICIAL builds, this device is no longer supported by the Slim-team.
The goal is to provide yet another Android 4.4 option for the SGH-i777.
I plan to build as time permits; no sooner than weeklies, and I'll be sure to capture stable releases.
Massive thanks to the @SteveMurphy, @RenderBroken, @razen_kain, @creepyncrawly, @4-2ndtwin, @nimper (and all of the i777 community) for the continued encouragement and support.
Speaking of community support, if the builds develop issues I will need your help finding and ironing out solutions. The biggest tip will be to see whether it's affecting the i9100 or n7000, and what they're doing about it.
If the builds start crashing, well that may be the end of SlimKat on the i777.
Happy Flashing
-Cyril

Awesome! A new ROM to add to my collection. Thanks Cyril :thumbup:

Thanks for doing this. I will have to try it out in a few days. I just installed SOKP. Gonna give that a few days.
Anything not working that is easy to see such as GPS, etc. I was on PACROM for a long time and it seems to be killing my battery not to mention the GPS doesn't work on it.
Another new play toy. Awesome! Does this come with the correct modem, kernel, etc? Or do we need to flash them separate? I have all those if needed, just curious. Downloaded the ROM and Slim Minimal GAPPS to have something to play with while the kids are at school tomorrow.
Thanks for the port! Looking forward to trying it out!

Cool deal. Getting ready to flash it now. I'll give it a shot with stock kernel before deciding to use Render's for now. I like Slim builds so I'm pretty stoked to be giving SlimKat a try. Thanks again!
So Far So Good
Just flashed this a little while ago. Had a few issues with root permissions to begin with, even after going to Settings>Developer Options>Root access, but it's fixed now. Install SuperSU and selected to update the binaries, after reboot all was well and was able to uninstall SuperSU to use the built in superuser. Not sure what happened that caused all that, but it's whatever at this point :silly:
So far, I haven't noticed and issues. Even the APN settings for ST worked right out of the box. All my apps are restored and seem to be playing nicely. There were a few (Fast Burst Camera comes to mind) that didn't want to work even with Dalvic on other KK builds for the triple7 but it's all working here. Great job on this build sir. If I notice any bugs or anything that sticks out I'll let you know, but so far this is great. Keep up the good work!
an extra shout out...
I also owe @nimper thanks for quietly nudging me in the right directions several times, even beyond xda, when it's apparent that I'm operating at or beyond the capacity of my Android knowlege base.

I don't have it installed now and it's working fine. I've had this happen in other roms too dating back to 4.2.2. Must be something I'm doing with wipes or other things I flash with roms. Either way, it's resolved and working great. Good on the battery life so far too. I usually notice immediate huge drain when first installing a KK rom. This one is remarkably better IMO.
Now to get down to it and put it through the ringer :highfive:

Happy to help! I probably don't know any more than you do other than what I pick up from reading the forums and posts from the developers, but every little bit helps.
I ran the build, but I'm still just a messenger.
I certainly can't take any credit for how fluidly this firmware works. The Slim team is definitely crossing t's and dotting i's. There are several apps, (AOSP and third-party) that haven't worked correctly on other KK builds, that work flawlessly on SLIM.

Bugs:Bugs happen. Our testers are very good at breaking things, but nowhere near as good as the rest of the Android public. In order to investigate and fix issues, we need the help of the users who are going to report them. The Android OS has many nifty features to help us in this, but only if we can engage the user to assist us.
Logs, Logcat, and the Android Debugging Bridge (ADB)
Like any other OS, Android has multiple log files that are generated and record the goings-on of the system. As a user, you have two basic ways to view and pull these to send to us. Without the information in the log files, there simply is not a whole lot of information to go on.
Log file APKs
Team Beanstalk recommends SysLog from the Android Market. This application will allow you to selectively pick any (or all) of the system logs, compress them into a. ZIP file, and allow you to save, email, move to your Copy/DropBox/Cloud Storage account, etc.
Or you can just use inbuilt kernel auditor settings debugging section to copy logs to sd card and res as above.
ADB Logcat
The Android Debugging Bridge (ADB) is a powerful tool available from Google as part of the Android Software Development Kit (SDK). Used for many things, being able to selectively see, in real-time, what your device is doing cannot be downplayed. While there is more setup involved, if you are doing consistent ROM flashing, you really should invest the time to get setup properly to do it.

It is recommended to mention the exact bugs the Rom has in the OP rather than just writing "same bugs as x".
Cheers.

Just Mention In OP Now What works And what Is still Not working.
The bugs Shown by the tester is resolved, which were related to Beanstalk. But There is chance that tester as well as I might have missed something. For what I am not aware yet.
I install it now. Hear from me later
Installed it. Very smooth so far, everything working except dt2w, same as in CM 13. And the ROM doesn´t remember disabled navigation bar after reboot. I have to disable it then again in settings. Minor bug, but great ROM. So much useful features, thank your very much for bringing it to us! Keep it up, it´s awesome!
The best custom 6.0 (by far) compared to sudamod and the obvious buggy RR. Everything works and the extra features are amazing! bugs are same as cm 13 of course. T2W and etc not working so if people are wondering, don't bother asking. Thanks man.
Thanks for your support
ROM works really fast and stable with Slim Gapps by dankoman.
Somebody can confirm that location is working? I can't make it work
Thanks @chineel for bring us this!

Yea, I'm not getting a lock on my location as well @chineel
guys location is really bugged on cm13 too. When I had high precision I never got a lock. Then next day I changed to device only and got a fast lock, so try that.

I guess this is your first for manually rooting nougat on your phone, you'll need to flash newer SuperSU(like 2.78) via BootBridge by AdrianDC.
Old SuperSU will give you soft brick on nougat.
hi there
after one day using this rom everything is working fine. gps , FMradio , ussd , Camera ,etc.
only on thing that is bugging me is that screen recorder should save videos on movies folder not Pictures folder.
i attached some screenshot of this rom.
peace out :good:
So, after something broke on my phone and Settings > Apps would always crash reading some folder (and Play Store too), I went to redownload Candy5 and found that you made a Candy7 ROM. So I flashed that instead
Android 7 feels much more snappy, and the pixel launcher stays in RAM unlike the Google launcher in 5.1. And I got more free storage space, though that will probably go down once I start using all the apps.
Things I did not find yet, maybe they are gone?
I can't find where I can configure the shutter button. In Candy5, I had it set to open the camera on long-press.
I can't find the option to make the grid pattern unlock bigger. It is 3x3 now, I had it set to 5x5 in Candy5 and it would be great if I could use this size again.
Overall, I am very pleased, thanks for creating this ROM Now to some real world test in the next days.

Yeah, most fancy things in most ROMs weren't added in Nougat like the lollipop/kitkat days(and for your questions, I would say 'yup, they're gone'), I haven't release any update recently because I'm in the army, and I'll get out on 9/5, will get some time to make another build, til then please be patient
Too bad, I am missing the built-in adblocker already. Good to hear about the upcoming updates, looking forward to it. Stay save!

Final build is up!
The final nougat build of CandyRom is uploaded on my AFH folder!
This build ships substratum and some feature along with fixes added :good:
Thanks for the update! I flashed the 7.1.2 ROM today, all went well Will you update the project if Google releases updates to Android 7? I hope final build does not mean you are done with the project
Now I have to test it some more. At first glance, this version seems to perform a little bit worse than the previous 7.1.1 beta. Like a slight stutter here and there. Might be related to the new Lawnchair launcher and the Substratum engine maybe? They add some nice additional features and customization though.
I'd like to verify that hunch. Can I simply uninstall "substratum theme engine rooted/oms-tw-rootless" in the Google play store, or is that not enough / will break stuff? To get the plain Pixel launcher from 7.1.1, do I just install "Google Now Launcher" in the Google play store?

nope, it won't break anything, and actually I don't think substratum app will affect the performance if you just leave it there + don't use apply any theme, for the Pixel flavored launcher, there's already plenty launchers out there, just pick the one you like the most.
oh yeah, I'm not done with building ROMs as long as Adrian teh huashan god still working on the device
I saw there are first beta versions of Android O, looking forward to that I just have to say it again, going from Android 5 to Android 7 makes the phone feel much more alive, it is amazing! Uses less space (I was constantly getting out of space messages for the system partition when updating apps in Android 5), better memory usage, faster app installation, much snappier feel, etc. I was seriously thinking about scratching together some money for a new phone because I did not want to endure the problems any more, especially the storage space one. No more
I uninstalled substratum and its background service using link2sd and kept lawnchair. Seems to be working en par with the 7.1.1 beta. So maybe substratum still uses resources even when not configured, or maybe it is a placebo effect, or the JIT compiler warmed up, I don't know. Either way, that's what I stick with for the time being.
Thanks again for your work on this ROM!

You can flash the recovery.img from TWRP itself. Go to the directory and tap 'Install Image' button. Select the recovery partition and flash.
ROM has been pretty stable for me, good amount of customization without overkill.
Performance is snappy, about equal to Hashbang's LOS that this is based on but with similar bugs, I'm guessing likely kernel & modem related:
• Wifi-Calling being on still causes silence when a call connects (Simple Mobile). Also makes me think that having it off is causing a lot of calls to go straight to voicemail instead of ringing.. could be coincidence
• Had the no notification/ringers/alarms bug initially but swapping my own sound files in, giving them the proper permissions, reboot with a dalvik & cache clear and it worked again (before on LOS and I think RR I had to replace audio xml files for it to work which i think caused new different audio related issues)
• Usual slow camera, flashlight bugs, no big deal
Really interested in the MicroG features and curios whether something has to be done in the ROM specifically to set it up. Would it improve battery life enough to go through the trouble?

I dont have this issue on NR. Funny enough. I did om rest.
I see no real hickups. All working here. Full pulldown on notifacation/ followed by edit, will freeze a sec, and go back to home screen, but just once each time - no biggie. Just a edit problem, once set up np.
But would like to see an option to see ram usage in recent, not just omni, no fan of omni Lol personal prefference. Absolut not a must, just so used to have it there.
Other than this GJ, new dayly driver. Ty. :highfive:
If my help can be used for some, just throw a holla OP :good:

ROM boot and works without GApps. I have been installing test builds without GApps. You just have to manually install each apk and restore contacts.
Only thing that affects battery when using ROM with GApps is Location History, you can turn it off. Also you can disable Google Assistant so it won't run background processes to detect OK Google. It would get you almost similar battery life, as using without it.
As for WiFi-Calling, I don't think so we have that in India, so I can't test or even try to debug.

RR have this feature m8. Likewise CR. So my guess is most los. But cant seem to find it anywhere here. Went it all through step by step.
But its not a must in any kind.
Ill go look for the settings in RR also if you need med to?
I have no device with RR atm, but an s5 with CR nougat. I guess its maybe an aosp recents? Says so in CR recent screen settings, if any help. Have no SD card back before tomorow, and ill then reflash RR and screen the settings. Ill add two of CR settings. Its on Sgs5 though, but they look the same, and had the same on the xt1572 RR/CR
Im no developer my self.
But done some dif testing back in the days with insanity and slim. those days. So by me saying holla if need help, is could you test this for me, then OFC!

Thanks for your work on this and reply. What audio files are you referring to? I just have my own ogg & wav files which i put into the subdirectories in /system/meda/audio and delete the stock ones, change permissions and go from there.
Regarding the MicroG, my most recent knowledge is from here: https://lineage.microg.org/#instructions which mentions a MicroG settings app that masks itself sets up "google" services for the apps that require it. GCM etc. That's what I was looking for but didn't find here so was just wondering It's open-source as far as I know, would it be possible to include in some future version of the ROM?
Another bug I've had recently is phone calls not waking the screen.
I am absolutely happy with the ROM. Not finding anything wrong. Being a moderate user I feel Nuclea works perfectly. A small glitch while opening camera. It takes a bit more time than usual. Otherwise no issues.

So lets take a look to this , New, Beautiful rom that came for our Note 4.
I used the latest TWRP 3.3.1 to flash rom, Gapps (ARM 9, Pico) and magisk 19.2.
Booted in recovery
factory reset
wipe cashe , dalvik, system, data, formated data, too
Rebooted recovery
Flashed rom, Gapps
wipe cashe and dalvik
flash Magisk 19.2.
Wipe cashe and dalvik.
Rebooted System
Rom booted in 2 minutes.
No hick ups, no bootloops.
Thank you @Shizzle2889, @ripee, @tripLr, @cvxda
for making also this possible for us
:good::good:
Also rebooting, no problem at all.
This is a nice, fast rom with lots of customization in it.
I think it will be a nice add to Note 4 roms family

this rom will be support f2fs?
It seems like cool
I wish it was for exynos ?
Working Fine just Power Button isn't working
Working 2 sims at duos ?
Oh dam, another great release!!! Will flash and test and report back soon boss.
Thank you
This rom has great potential, tested, venom/system/buttons didn't work, just hangs on black screen, I always have my backlights off and use navbar and not being able to access those options here, had to install another rom.
Loved the fluid n smoothness of everything else, built in features were great, looking forward to future updates, good port with great potential
Also another missing feature was slim recents
Hello, so far everything working good on SM-N910F,
But when i'm using S-Pen to navigate in System UI every first icon (or widget) get automatically selected - "highlighted" is possible to turn this off?

Can u test the viper venom button menu see if that works for u?
The spen has that hovering selecting thing, it shouldn't select it but only highlight whatever the pen is pointing at

Viper Venom button do not work
Spen hovering also breaks apps like xdalabs, internet browsers etc, making it impossible to use them

Definitely needs more time and attention and I hope it will happen, rom does have awesome potential, the smoothness and look is lovely. AOSP extended is very similar to this one, you can try that, I didn't find any faults with that but just personal preferences of mine were missing like slim recents, I myself am currently on havoc with flashpoint kernel

For "viper venom button" "perform custom button action" you can try restarting phone and immediately after system starts it works for few seconds .

Maybe in the future, will keep an eye out, for now I'm settled on havoc, has everything to my taste, spen works too, aicp pie is the second best rom for me currently, havoc first.

Has the Always on display been fixed, it had a bug where when a notification comes and the screen shows it sometimes it will remain and never goes off.

Dunno, were incorporating fixes @ripee gets from other roms,
My older builds are stable enough for a daily driver
There is a Bluetooth patch here
https://forum.xda-developers.com/no...ficial-havoc-osv2-android-9-0-t3908093/page48
One bug at a time !
Don't forget to post logs and or screenshots of bugs.
Thanks
Does this Rom support Galaxy themes ??
this is the most visually stunning rom i have had the pleasure of using on my note 4 N910T. it's beautiful. as far as i know bluetooth is stable. when i downloaded google maps from the play store it would only launch with a blank screen, however when i download an apk it launched fine and the gps is working as well for me. i am not able to get newpipe to work, it just keep force closing. also can someone guide me on how to disable the phone hardware lights?
