How I enabled WIFI hotspot - Sprint HTC One (M9)

To get hot-spot working on other ROMs besides BADBOY, because it already works on that ROM.
I tried the SQL editor the free ones didn't work so I looked for another method.
I am rooted with the latest Viper ROM 3.1
I flashed my backup of BadBoy (which already has hotspot enabled out the box) 1.0
With Titanium, backed up "WIFI hotspot"
After I finally updated my firmware, I flashed Viper 3.1, and tried the other methods which didn't take.
I looked at my copy of wifi hotspot that I backed up with Titanium from BadBoy, restored it
Enabled hotspot works fine even with 4G-LTE

Can you upload or send me a copy of the hotspot backup, please...?

fyi---the hacked hotspot in our ROM really has nothing to do w/ the actual hotspot app...not sure how this helped the OP cuz the app in our ROM is stock

I recently went from viper 3.1-3.5 and didn't back up anything so i had to do a clean install which took several tries.
In the meantime I was using a backup of badboy that I had. Then I finally booted viper 3.5 and fired up hotspot, it wouldn't tether but when I restored wi-fi hotspot with titanium tethers fine.
OMJ, you would know more than me..lol!

Can I do this with t mobile's Wi-Fi hot-spot app because I installed it's twrp backup and it was working fine

Issues Post Root

Alright, I'm having some issues with root.
Let's backup and give a little context incase it might help in the diagnosis.
I picked up my TB on launch day then I upgraded to the leaked .09 two or three days ago. Last night I decided to root. So I followed the steps in the root thread without any problem. When I rebooted at the end of it all I installed SetCPU and configured the profiles without any problem. I then installed titanium backup and adfree. I ran adfree and cleared the ads without any issues so then I loaded titanium backup and granted it su access however the app said 'failed' to achieve root when it loaded.
I then rebooted the phone. SetCPU failed to get su access, titanium backup failed to get su access. I then downloaded WiFi tether and drocap2 and they failed to get access. So I rebooted again. This time WiFi tehther and drocap2 got acceess and I even took a screenshot with dropcap2 and turned on WiFi tether. Ok, so I'm happy.
Loaded up Titanium backup again, again it failed to achieve root. So I go back to SetCPU and it fails to achieve root as well.
It's almost like there is a time limit on launching apps with root access once the phone boots before it reverts to non-root access.
The phone itself is working fine, I verified S-OFF by booting into recovery. It just doesn't seem root wants to "stick" when the phone is booted.
So I rebooted again just testing a wild theory I had in my head... and everything is working. Apparently, if I load Titanium Backup is blows root up. No idea why... but all other root apps work as long as I don't load Titantium Backup.
Thoughts?
try flashing a new version of busybox via titanium backup worked like a charm for me

I don't think setcpu is gonna work without a custom kernel....

This fixed the issue I was having.
I was having the same issue as the OP but ROM Manager was the app blowing out SU.

It works ... the stock kernel (and the few variants that are here - which basically just address adb root) have 4 steps from 245 -> 1000, and just a few governors.
I created profiles to ramp it up while charging, and to slow it down when the screen's off.
Works fine...
can't want for HTC to release source and see what the kernel gods make of it

I had to download this and install appinstaller... delete my superuser and install this apk just to get rooted but works like a charm
Ok, I updated my su apk with the one attached above and now it prevents Titantium Backup from borking root but Titantium still doesn't work.
I tried uninstalling Titanium and reinstalling and no go... wierd.

Cannot use mobile data with AOSP, AOKP-based ROMs

As the title described. But there's a strange thing: when I go to APN settings and do something then back, the connection starts to work.
Sammy ROMs don't have this issue.
Well...I'm not a custom ROM guy, but if I were you I would either write down the APN settings while on stock and then configure it on custom or call my carrier and ask for the settings.
But that's just me.

Don't know why but just back from MIUI (used GS2ROMNuke script) and data works fine now.

Now that it works I would make a backup of the efs file and copy down your apn settings, just in case

I'd do a Titanium backup. Change the Backup folder over to your extSDcard.
Also in settings (Menu button) there is Special Features - Create Update.zip - do that and move it across to your extSDCard so it doesn't get wiped at any point.
Then when you full wipe, you can flash your new ROM, set it up, reboot to Recovery and flash the Titanium Update file, then in the ROM, run TB to restore all apps and user data.
Not sure about the notification and wifi issues - is anyone else on LS ROM having a problem?
To get superuser back, go to app store, uninstall it and reinstall - should then be in your apps folder.

GPS Not Available

I just noticed that my GPS is not working, and when I try to use Maps, it says I don't have GPS hardware. I installed GPS Status and it says Gps: Not available. I used TopNTP like others have said and no luck. I am rooted and unlocked using Codefires Experiment nightlies, I'm not sure when it stopped working, I think it was the 11-18 build. I do remember the last few times I updated it said something about the EFS files were missing, I assume those are for the GPS. I'd post in the Codefires Experiment developer thread but I don't have enough post yet. Any help would be appreciated.
Have you tried flashing an alternate ROM?
Did you back up your EFS partition?
Is there and EFS folder on your card? I think freegee makes a copy and maybe twrp. They're saved as .img files. If so, you can restore vids the command line.

Yes I have.
I did finally get GPS to work again. I installed Houstonn's AOSP Andriod Kikkat 4.4 Geeb and it got my GPS working again. I will back it up for now on though, not going to go through that hassle again.

A Couple Questions

Hi All,
Apologies if this is the wrong section - I wasn't able to find a basic Q&A section.
I am running a stock ROM rooted on my T-Mobile Galaxy S5 and would like to have the latest version of Android + Security Updates (it keeps nagging me about updating security) but am unable to update either of these with the usual process since the phone is rooted. Is there a way to do this without flashing a new ROM? I'd rather not lose all my installed applications and whatnot with a fresh flash.
Also, using the stock ROM is there any way to enable unlimited wireless tethering (I have an unlimited data plan)? Foxfi works great for unlimited USB tethering, but I am unable to use the WiFi tethering function.
Thanks!
Toolage
I believe if you update via Odin, your data will stay intact. Apps requiring root won't function until you install recovery and flash SU.
If your stock/rooted, do a complete backup prior to the update and you can then just restore the data partition.
I also have a full backup of apps and data using titanium backup.
