Top smartphones available from Verizon? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
Other than the Galaxy series from Samsung, what would be your top 3/5 picks for smartphones from Verizon?
I haven't kept up with the new phones in a while.
Thanks!

Moto X and iPhones I'd say

No one has any input? Looking for anything other than iPhone...

[Q] Should i get this phone?!

Im thinking of up grading to the Vibrant. Any reason not to? Is there a better phone on the horizen? Im currently with T-mobile and dont want to switch. Thanks in advance!!
Only other choice is the T-Mobile G2 (Oct 6.) or myTouch HD (rumored to release November '10?). I've gotten the Vibrant since week one and don't regret getting it. The Super AMOLED screen is definitely beautiful and one of the things admired most from this phone.
get it
best screen. like a hdtv in your pocket
t-mobile has great 3g speeds
hummingbird > snapdragon
released in 100+ countries, including every major carrier in the US so community support should be huge
there's always better phones on the horizon, but this is the phone i've been waiting for ever since the iphone was announced years ago. and it hasn't disappointed
no it sucks. *at the airport, using vibrant to tether 3g to laptop*
G2 is very appealing and I am considering switching... it comes down to physical keyboard and stock android VS bigger and much better screen, slightly better hardware..

while i understand this viewpoint, touchwhiz is easily disabled. there is also no guarantee that the G2 will get the same OTA updates as the N1 simply because it is stock android. the original droid on verizon is a good example.
but yeah, if you need/want a hardware keyboard the G2 is a better choice (obviously). unless you can deal with sprint and the epic
I got two. My wife approved.
My 3rd android phone (just from passion of the OS), this is by far my most favorite of them. Speed, Design, Display... love everything about it.
Touchwiz is actually very usable from personal experience and reviews. It added alot of 'shortcuts' that makes life alot easier. For example, swipe notification bar to change brightness while outdoor, instead of going through 3-4 menus. Overall, Vibrant is a very solid phone at stock, definitely recommend it.
Only issues now are the GPS and Froyo, mostly Froyo.
+Amazing looking screen, ignore the iPhone 4 people and their color fidelity nonsense, the Vibrant is more colorful that the iPhone 4 and looks a lot better when viewing pictures and movies.
+Runs very fast, 1ghz processor.
+Very thin and light compared to the iPhone 4 (especially now that everyone has put a case on theirs), the back is plastic not glass, but I like saving the weight and I think the patterned back looks fine, comes with 2 colored backplates in the package I got.
+Android, with an open market, unlike At&t's flavor, the Captivate.
+Currently the best T-mobile phone available if you need to get a new one right now.
+Shoots 720p at 30fps. Big selling point, my friend bought a flip video and my phone takes the exact same quality of video and I don't have to carry an additional device, the camera is 5mp and also quite good.
Some downsides
-T-mobile took out some features from the stock Galaxy S, including fm radio, front facing camera and flash. I don't really need a front facing camera or a flash, the night mode works very well and renders a flash almost useless. Fm radio would be nice but I can live without it, I just loaded up my own music.
-Bloatware, it comes with a slew of crappy apps that you cannot remove without rooting. I would strongly recommend rooting, deleting bloatware, and then unrooting (The sales rep. at T-mobile actually recomended this ) It's about as safe as it can get and very easy, 1 click root and unroot, just look for it on xda. Also expect this on other T-mobile phones, except maybe the G2.
If you can wait a little just to see what's planned for the winter you might consider it, but I doubt you will be that disappointed if you buy the vibrant now. T-mobile has had a sad list of Android phones besides the Nexus One, so I doubt there's anything better than the myTouch or G2 coming out.

What's the point coming here and trolling? If you dont like their products then don't look here. And as far as the downside. It's not t-mobile its all us carriers so don't call out t-mobile.

I am not trolling, period.
If we, T-Mobile USA customers are not honored, we should boycott that manufacturer.
Why shan't that Galaxy tab come to T-Mobile, but will go to AT&T, Sprint, and VZW?????

So you're upset that T-Mobile isn't getting the Samsung Galaxy S Tab? What makes you think that it is 100% on Samsungs part?
This is the SAMSUNG VIBRANT forum, I honestly don't care too much about a tablet because I'll never use it. I just find the tablet and the Vibrant to be irrelevant. If anything.. why would you would a contracted tablet? If anything I would want a WiFi only version and just tether with my phone.
Samsung has been moving away from cutting exclusive deals with wireless operators for its growing slate of mobile devices. It launched its most recent smartphone, the Galaxy, with the top four U.S. wireless operators, Verizon Wireless, AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile USA. T-Mobile USA, a unit of Deutsche Telekom AG and the fourth-largest U.S. wireless carrier, hasn't yet worked out a deal to carry the tablet, a person familiar with the matter said.

What's your android history?

Just wondering how long you guys have been with Android and what your previous devices were. How many paid apps have you purchased?
I'm just wondering because I was recently going through my market and realized I have 27 paid apps! A lot of people think that the iPhone app store is better because of numbers but how many times have iPhone users asked "can I get that on my phone?" When have you ever heard vice versa? I know they are usually better visually and are better quality apps but I like our immature android... he's growing everyday. I personally think android marketplace is the bees knees because its more intimate, you can email devs for specific bugs and requests. You have emulators... mp3 downloads I mean you name it we got it. I refer to it as the android black market. Anyways what is your android history?

Android or phones? Pre android, i had an lg flip phone that i hated. Next was the big thing for girly girls, the hot pink moto razr. Then palm centro. Started with at&ts first android, backflip. Then tried flipside (locked bootloader and no development) but quickly moved to atrix. Loved it so much, i got a second one for playing with. Was thinking of going to the atrix hd, but I dont do non removable batteries. So once moto screwed the atrix , I said im done. Samsung skyrocket is my current phone and I'll never go locked bootloader again. Have no clue how many paid apps, but quite a few. However, I have hacked quite a few more then I've owned. Those include epic 4g touch, captivate, and have an lg quantum that I cant seem to find any development for. :what:

To buy or not to buy Bell's Galaxy S II HD

Hi All,
My much hated iPhone 3g is dying, and Kijiji is full of phones for sale. The Galaxy s III can be had for about $460 so I would rather wait a few months, but often times an S II goes for $250, and I have seen Bell's S II HD for that same price. Bell's Galaxy S II HD seems like a great device, however I have had the bad experiences of the Nokia N800 tablet and the HTC G1 phone, in both cases getting left behind in updates before the thing is even paid in full. I am drawn by the 1280 x 720 resolution but wonder if it is worth it. I don't mind things that are somewhat rare and different ( I drive a 20 year old VW Eurovan ) but is this a really really really rare phone? Is there only one guy building ROM's for it? Or should I stick with a I9100 or Rogers I727? Thanks everyone.

Stick with GT I9100, it has an excellent developer support!

Opinions only, Sprint GN vs. GS3, Evo4gLTE and LG Optimus G

I have 4 things I need, 4g internet, good camera, 4.5 inch screen or larger and sms text to speech with no human interaction. I know the last one I can't get on Android so have written it off but the Evo 4g LTE, Samsung Galaxy S3 and the LG Optimus G have the last 3.
Now the issue is I want Pure Google Android and only the Nexus has it on Sprint so I am looking at the Google Nexus but I need to know how the cpu and camera are compared to the others. I have heard that the Galaxy Nexus is actually on the slow side, that even the Samsung Galaxy Epic 4g Touch is faster and has a better camera, and I want some opinion. I have read so much and I am just more confused.
I love the specs of the LG Optimus G because I am at least good for a year when it comes to spec but it only has Google Ice Cream Sandwich and because of it is an LG I feel that development will be slow. I owned the Samsung Galaxy s3 for 4 days and really didn't like it. If I could I would buy the Nexus 4 but alas it doesn't work on Sprint.
I really appreciate any opinion and that is all I am asking for here. This is going on my second line so I can purchase a Windows Phone 8 device when Sprint launches them this summer.

[Q] S3 LTE, Nexus 4 or Optimus G?

Hello guys! I have recently decided to buy a new phone, and after some searching on the internet, I cannot decide between the following phones (they all have the same price from where I buy them): Optimus G, Nexus 4 and Galaxy S3 LTE. I would go for the nexus because of the fast updates coming from Google and the powerful hardware, but I don't like that it has the buttons on the screen and I would really like an LTE phone because it is more future reliable. I like the Optimus G and the S3, but I can't decide between them. I like both interfaces, they have similar hardware, and also the storage is much bigger. I don't think that the Nexus has enough storage.
So, in conclusion, I would like a phone that will receive updates (like 4.4 kitkat) and that has a nice interface and powerful hardware. So which one should I choose? Thank you in advance.
Wrong forum this is not S3 LTE forum
