S6 Edge - Network/Signal Compatibility question. - Galaxy S6 Edge Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, currently I'm abroad (in India) and have bought myself an S6 edge (which I'm finding so cool right now only had it for a few hours)
My main question is I'm from the UK and eventually I will be going back in a few weeks and wanted to know will this S6 Edge work normally just as if I bought it from the UK with regards to the network signal strength, 4G signal etc and whether or not SIMs from EE(UK) O2(UK) etc will work?
It's completely unbranded and sim free however I am still not sure.
Model: G925I (can provide rest of base band if needed)
Also in the box this was also included

So all I would need to do is be on a phone call for just over 5 minutes? ^
Also the Official Samsung store where I bought it from assured me that it will work in the UK/Europe.
Finally what kind of signs should I look for to know whether or not my device may be faulty as once I get to the UK I believe the warranty won't work there so being in india is my only chance to make sure I have a good working device before I head back.
Thank you very much for your time.

its pretty clearly written that to use the phone in other region u need to use an indian sim for atleast 5 minutes.
u need to talk to someone for 5mins over phone.
that's it.
the 925i model is an international version too
same model is released in Australia and Malaysia too.so u don't have to worry

Once I've totaled 5 minutes of calling and had to factory reset my phone, would I have to do another call(s) for 5 minutes again?
Thanks for your time.

i don't think so.it's already done..i don't know you if you remember something in Nokia phones.when ever you put ur sim card an auto generated msg forwarded to nokia to let them know that phone is activated from now on.so samsung is using the same technique not by sms though
but just to be sure,u can make another call.
but just to be sure make a call to Samsung India and ask them.

Ah okay thanks, I'll give them a call when I get the chance.
I'm considering the factory reset once i get to the UK to hopefully get rid of things like Google Maps Voice nav being in an indian accent (even though I've changed all voice/text options to English UK in the phone settings) and the Play Store showing paid apps price in rupees.
Hoping that with a factory reset I can setup and choose language options properly.

play store is set up based on region.if you go to UK then it will show in ur currency

It doesn't
Play store does not automatically change currency when you are in a different country. But who cares this was 3 years ago. I'm on here to find a solution to the joke of the phone signal with Three in the UK. It's an American t-mobile s6 edge unlocked but then locked again 2 years later for no reason by stupid lock tMobile, manage to unlock it after 4 months of Bollocks. So American s6 edge now on three with the most crappiest phone signal possible. Basically it's 1 bar or no signal most of the time ?it's so bad it's funny apart from thinking why am I I paying for this. It's like the trains in UK. Paying stupid money for a service that India trains would be ashamed of. Anyways, anyone had this problem? Any solutions apart from smashing the phone and moving country? Cheers, Aloha ?

6 months is the standard waiting period to unlock the device....
I've called my carrier for the unlock, and was told no...I have a month left before they will even talk about it...
nice idea though......g
my phone isn't even under contract.
Lucky you ....LOL
it also helps if you tell them you are going overseas and need it unlocked asap

Now that trick may work......:good:
I tried it for mine and it worked. But a buddy of mine that just got his Note last month was denied of the lock code because he was only in his 1st month of the 2 year contract ext. I had my Note the first day of release from AT&T in Feb. They look at your current contract and determine whether to give it out or not I believe.

AT&T will now give them because it's no longer exclusive. When they were the only carrier with it they would not give it out for anything.

quick question
Do I need to switch out the sim card right away, if so witch carrier is perferd?
Also can this be done on flappjaxxx stock rom?

I tried it on a friends Tmobile sim and it worked. But I'm on stock ICS. Not sure if it works with other roms.

You shut off the phone, switch sim cards, boot, enter code in network control screen, then phone registers on other network. shut it down and put your sim back, or keep going if you wanted to switch.
Flapjaxxx ULF6 rom will unlock, but not all roms will. For those that don't you flash a stock rom and unlock, then return to your preferred rom.
Always try it first!
I just tried the live chat and asked for the code because of travel out of the US -- I got the ****. I guess plan b is the customer service call. Elevator music hell, here I come.
Onced unlocked with T Mobile, correct me if I'm wrong. I will only get to make phone calls, no unlimited data and will be still with at&t. Researched forums and still a littlte unsure how this helps to save money.
unlocked means you can use any network, and whatever capabilities that network has: data, sms, mms, voip, voice.
i just did this the other day and it worked!! called told them that someone on craigslist sold me the phone and stated it was unlocked but it wasnt and that i was with tmobile and needed it unlocked, he asked for the imei number and after about 30 seconds gave me the code and asked me if i needed anything else, lol
no thanks for me? ;_;
Get the word out there people, let everyone know about this!
Don't be fooled by the scams that want $30 (or however much they are asking for) to do this SIMPLE PROCESS!!!!
just call up att/tmobile with your imei and tell them you are going overseas and need your phone unlocked.
(maybe need to be on stock rom? not really sure)

First, thank you. Second, unlocking services are not scams, and they can charge whatever people are willing to pay, and when the carrier has exclusive rights to a phone, they don't have to sell you a product that will profit their competition ( ecom 101).
And to see if you will need to revert to stock either put in a non at&t sim and boot up. You should see:

If you don't see either of these screens you will have to return to a stock rom and modem to unlock. After you enter the code you will see
You can return your phone to your preferred rom. Network lock is permanent. Flash all you want.

Thank you very much! Still waiting for my I9305 to be shipped, and it's probably going to be locked too. Going to travel in March 2013, so I'm glad to hear it can be unlocked already.
Had to cut my Three SIM down to micro sim size but thats no big deal when the outcome is such a good phone.
Where did you get the phone from in the UK?
also what speeds are you getting with 4G in the UK?
I got the phone from T-Mobile shop in manchester. The EE 4G service hasn't been rolled out nationwide yet so currently still just on 3G until the end of the month.
Will be great to see what the UK can get

[Q] Cannot make calls with SII I9100

Good morning guys (i am writing from Sydney so for someone good afternoon),
i bought a second hand phone on gumtree due by the end of my other phone and i am having some issues.
I bought a Samsung Galaxy SII I9100 seems to be brand new even still the plastic cover on the screen, by the way i flashed the phone with the NeatRom
The phone is working 100% fine the only thing that i can't do is calling someone
I have signal on the network and i can even go online using my phone, no wifi, but sadly i cannot make outgoing calls.
I tried loading other ROMS but same problem and i found the NeatRom the more reliable and fast for my experience so i decided to go back in to this.
Now guys i need your help, i could buy a new phone and throw this one away but I like challenge and i would like to get the problem fix.
I notice that many users have the same issue and they reckon could be some application loaded into the phone.
Any idea or suggestion?
I was thinking to load back the Rom stock version?
What do you think?
Could be that the phone has been stolen and locked by the provider (VODAFONEAU) ? in this case what i should do?change provider?change IMEI?
I checked the IMEI on the back and is the same that you get if you query the phone with *#06#
I attached few screenshot taken with the phone to better show the issue, if you notice in the last one i tried to call and i get back a message from the system "we currenlty accept only US number". so wierd...
Thanks in advance to all for the attention paid to help me.

1) You absolutely cannot change IMEI. Any further discussion of this will see your thread locked (it's illegal).
2) First thing you need to do is contact your carrier in the first instance & ask if it has indeed been IMEI locked (all carriers can see this in Australia, once it's locked on one network, it's locked on everyone's). If you have no joy there, then you contact Vodafone & ask the same question (I'd be very surprised if you carrier doesn't answer this one way or another though.
If it is IMEI barred, you won't be getting it unbarred. These things don't normally happen.
3) It may only be network locked by Vodafone rather than IMEI locked. Again, Vodafone will be able to confirm if this is the case/not.
Anything else troubleshooting-wise is a waste of time until you do the above; if it's IMEI barred you put one down to experience & chuck it away, if it's network locked Vodafone will possibly give you an unlock code for free.
Edit - Also, delete the screenshot which shows your IMEI. Last thing you need if it is just a simple case of a network lock that you can get fixed is for someone to see your IMEI & decide to use it for nefarious purposes (easily done). If this happens, your IMEI absolutely will end up barred & the phone useless.
Good explanation above, ask the one who.sold ypu this phone, he might have sold you a barred phone and claimed from insurance.
Hope it is not the case, but do check
Best of luck

LG V10 DEMO (t-mobile) h901bk

Hello,
I need some help guys, so i'm looking into purchasing a LG V10 & I asked the seller to send me the imei just to make sure it's not blacklisted with t-mobile. The phone is clean, only problem I had was, beside the model number it says DEMO on the box. The seller said he won it through LG. Can a demo phone be unlocked & used as a normal phone or does it need to be rooted?
Thanks

I did & they weren't sure lol. Going to go to the store tomorrow and find out. Just wanted to check if someone else on here knew.
Demos don't carry warranty, and legally cannot be sold words from my business Rep.
Thanks for the info, does it still work as a regular phone or will it have to be rooted?
My business Rep says itll be fine, but can't be traded in/upgraded through tmo or warranty exchange.
Is the phone unused as a demo model? I sometimes see demo devices advertised for sale, and the ones that were on display in stores are always shown to have some severe screen burn-in from displaying the same graphics for so long. The also say that the demo mode needs to be deactivated, but I'm not sure how that's done.

Imho it's a risk. My G4 also came up clean on swappa as DEMOUNIT. 4 months plus using it as normal, no issues. YMMV
Thanks, i have verified it with tmobile and they advised a week ago these units were won in a competition and one rep won it as well. So he advised all were demo units. Only issue in having now is to make sure it will unlock. Tmobile has the device unlock app now

I have a close friend that works for T-Mobile. He won an Experia Z3 at a Christmas party last year that was a demo same as that V10. As others have said, the phone will not be warrantied in any way but will function exactly as any other V10. You'll be able to unlock and root just like any retail model.

Nope. What I have learned is that it is not treated as a T-Mobile phone and can't be unlocked. It isn't intended for commercial use but is fully functional as long as you have T-Mobile or a sister carrier.

Debranding samsung galaxy s8 active

Hi peeps,
I'm from Holland and i bought myself a Samsung s8 active global gsm unlocked from a seller in the usa via ebay. However the phone is branded with at&t firmware and somehow it isn't possible for the phone to find a network here in Holland. When i search manually for a network, it finds the networks which are operating here, but when i try to register onto the network it says that it's impossible to register...
I hope someone can help me with this!
Greetings from Holland
Martin
i search your device and it say it only has 3 variants AT&T
T-Mobile
Sprint
also openline is the right keyword not "Debranding"
in my country openline usually cost $20 US dollar but i guess you can do it yourself by following guides from the internet ?

Well ok... thanks for your reply. Like i said, I'm from Holland, so pls excuse me for not knowing the correct terms. I searched the internet and found some pages in Dutch where i found the term branded phone and debranding, so i figured that is a universal term for it...
I happen to have a T-mobile subscription here in Holland. So it should be possible to use the phone with T-mobile firmware if there isn't a "unbranded" firmware version.
this guy has the same issue with you https://forums.att.com/t5/Samsung/Unlock-instructions-for-Galaxy-S8-Active/td-p/5850469
also this website is worth checking
https://www.att.com/deviceunlock/
Thanks for your answer. However, the top url doesn't work and i allready tried the bottom one... can't unlock myself via at&t because i don't have a at&t phone nr or account... never had. Can't create an account because they ask for a at&t phone nr which i don't have. I bought the phone on ebay and it was shipped to Holland.
Had contact multiple times with Samsung Europe and they said it would be no problem for me to use the phone here, but it seems that's not the case.
hmmn since most option require you to have at&t mobile# and account which you don't have the only option i see is contacting at&t FB page and say your case ( you just bought the phone on ebay and didn't know its network lock ) who know they might openline it without paying anything ??

Is there someone who can help me with this? I can't find anything helpfull on the internet so far...
I really want my new phone to work here on the Dutch networks but it seems to me it's solely because of the at&t firmware that's stopping me from doing so. Is there any way to get rid of that firmware safely? Personally I'm not interested in the whole warranty thing because since i have this phone shipped to holland, i can't get any warranty with samsung Europe, so for any warranty i have to ship it back to America which i won't do because of the costs that will come with that.
Suggestions/tips are more then welcome!
Some progress
In addition to this subject... been in france with my 'new' phone and inserted my sim-card to see what would happen. Immediately it found a network and I could make calls and use 4g internet. Back in Holland it still works but the reception is poor. Been searching for the right apn settings, found alot of different suggestions and tried a bunch of them. So far so good. When I change something in the apn settings, 4g internet becomes very slow or is entirely gone. It seems I'm on to something here but I can't find out which are the best settings.
I hope someone has more understanding of this problem...
Flashing firmware
Ok so it now seems the at&t firmware is the problem. But is there a save way to flash T-mobile software to the galaxy s8 active? It has bootloader 4 on it
Greetings from Holland
