must have accessories for 2nd hand Z3?? - Xperia Z3 Accessories

Upgrading to a Sony Xperia z3 I bought on swappa, listed as mint condition but doesn't have accessories. (Coming from htc sensation & Samsung galaxy II- current). Should I use Sony brand accessories for charging, headphones and the like? I also need something to protect it from myself (just call me butter fingers) and onry terrorist toddler. I don't know anything about Qi or the magnetic cable charging technology or what to look for and steer away from. I need a case and screen protector I'm assuming? All the help I can get I would appreciate. Also, do you think I can/should pay for the monthly protection TMo offers? I really need this phone to last awhile.

I found that glass on display is quite enough, so dont use any screen protector. For charging I use the standard Sony charger and also Sony WCR14 case that have Qi wireless charging. Protects phone and dont have to mesd with cable and always open USB flap. As for headphones I found the included ones quite good and for outside I have wireless bluetooth ones with Bluetooth 4.0 from Philips. Super useful for travel is Xiaomi battery pack with 16000 mAh capacity, supports chargin at 2A.

Ah I looked up the Qi case, it's a bit out of my piece range at the time being.
So my concern is, if I drop it without a screen protector / case, then is Sony's glass going to hold up?

NO WAY... The glass is super against scratches and greasy fingers (just use glass cleaner to wipe) but should you drop your phone its likely it will break. Seen some half dead Xperias already. The back is also glassy.
The protection case, at best with rigid frame, is absolute must.

I have a black leather flip style case for my Z3. My gf bought it from a local market stall a while back, and its fantastic. It also has slots on the inside of the front cover for credit cards etc.

A little late but
the orange store south africa sells the wireless charging kit for under 300rand which translates to $20. So far while it is a little awkward to use the phone at times i love it. At night I charge with the case open 44degrees c yesterday. I would recommend it!

Got me a set of Anker USB cables, a Copter Exoglass screen protector (tempered glass) and Rearth Ringke Fusion case. Thinking of getting something to charge magnetically. The rest I have is wonderful

Please review my list of accesories for my new Xperia Ultra Z.

Hello all!
So, if the winter storms allow it, on Thursday I will have my Xperia Ultra to replace my beloved Note 2. Shame on you Samsung for the "amazing" .18" display size increase of Note 3!
Anyways, as always I like to have my phone ready with some accessories.
I am still a bit confused about this whole magnetic charger thingy so please provide any feedback, recommendations etc or something I might be missing as well! :good:
For first...a basic cheap case for normal use..unless I change my mind and get something with a flip.
Cheapo case
Or maybe this one too for now as a battery and more protective case:
Case and 5000mAh battery
Car mount:
Mount
Finally for now this one confuses me: the dock/charger thing:
Are either of this the same and do I need something else besides the doc...? Like I have read about a magnetic cable too.
Doc1
Doc2
I am still wanting a stylus but I would like some sort of case with a thin stylus that I can hide into the case...yes, I am used to my note spen
And also I was planning to get my usual Zagg screen protector but not sore sure if anyone has tried it since a search for Zagg showed no results.
Thanks for any help!
dealxtreme
I have deleted my long list of Xperia Z Ultra accessories found of dx.com/dealxtreme.com because they are utterly useless.
I ordered five things and ensured that they were not marked out of stock. A week later they sent me an email saying they couldn't send because something was out of stock. It proved impossible to respond to them: email bounced, phone numbers didn't work or were never answered, website chat didn't work. Their online ticketing system didn't allow creating a ticket to discuss order, you had to enter a SKU code and I didn't know which item was in doubt. Eventually I stumbled on a ticket type I could create (problem with paying) so I sent them a message and they admitted there were three items of the five they couldn't get! They asked for more time, after five days I told them to cancel the order with a full refund.
So, stay away from DX.com / dealxtreme.com as they are clearly utterly utterly useless.
This is the dock I got and have had good experiences with it. It is slow to charge but works well as a stand for you to charge your phone overnight.

How slow? The original DK30 uses around 2 hours to charge from 0-100%.
I see that Brando also have a bunch of X Z U accessories:
http://mobile.brando.com/shop/Sony-Xperia-Z-Ultra
they're more expensive than DX, but Brando in my experience are usually good quality and offer good customer service.
I've still not seen a car dock that I want to buy, I want one that will hold my XZU whilst its in its case, and attach to the windscreen. So far universal tablet holders designed for smaller tablets have looked like the best option.

Regarding car dock, I got one from infiniapps, really like the design and you can use it with a case, works better with a thin case. I would recommend the tablet version and then buy 2 of the phone metal inserts.

I'd stick with the DK30 dock. The maglock cable i used from DX.com wrecked my ultra. (after plugging in the magdock cable it started playing up. charging and discharging irregularly. Had to have a full mainboard replacement.) So its been 6 weeks and my ultra is finally being sent back to me after a major repair.
Link not working, can you try again?

Good call, ordered some stuff for my Z1 while some month ago. Got a mail saying everything was shipped however the tracking number went nowhere. Waited some month, nothing and tracking number still a dud. Have emailed them several times with no response. I will never order there again. Is Brando more reliable?

Hello!
I have been using the ZGPAX S5 watch. It is very powerful, not sure if you have seen some of the videos I uploaded but it runs emulators like MAME, Dreamcast and can even use the PS3 controller
BUT, the company that built it is as good it if did not exist because forget about any support from them.
So if no dev picks it up, you are not going to get much from it.
It is more of a Standalone watch than a companion to your phone. Currently only using an app called TableTak is how you can get text messages and reply from the watch.
For charging I bought the original DK30 magnetic charger. Expensive but well worth it.
As for protection, I bought some "explosion proof" glass protector for the front and a regular film protector for the rear and just some cheap plastic case from ebay just for when I am carrying it around. At home etc I just like the feeling of it naked so no cases there
Also about the watch, I returned it as the GPS was not working and right now I am undecided between buying it again or waiting for one to have ALL the features without having to fight to get things working.

I did see the videos yes did look pretty good. Apart from using a very small screen lol. I take it you use emulators on your xzu though. I think my best bet is getting a smart watch 2 at some point then. Do you actually use the dk30 dock or you taken the cable out? I can't see myself getting 1 as I always have a flip case on the phone as too worried about the phone. And wouldn't want to keep taking it out of case etc. I would like to find a genuine Sony magnetic charger though. If I do keep my xzu I would like to get some good accessories. But at present my xzu is in repair. So I have been debating about getting a HTC one max. Just not sure. I do want a good power flip case though would like the cp12. And like the look of the sbh52. that screen protector is it a glass protector and if so where did you get it from? What apps do you currently have on phone any useful/interesting ones?

That is the reason I added the glass in front and film on the back though.

Wireless slim hard case

Just to let you know that the official LG slim hard case/battery plate that has wireless charging makes the phone slightly bigger so cases like Spiegen won't fit. I bought one for my Korean F400k to get wireless charging and now I can't put my Slim Armour case back on. And this is the non bumper variation of the two backplate covers LG makes which I wrongly assumed would be a straight replacement of the existing backplate. Notwithstanding, it is pretty nice as it gives the phone a much better textured grip...but not much by way of drop protection.
One more thing, you can forget using the Nexus wireless charger (the little square one): the phone keeps telling you to move it to the hotspot, no matter how you position it. The Nokia upright charger works fine though.

Wireless Charging Back Cover

Black one in stock now: http://www.mobilefun.com/47945-official-samsung-galaxy-alpha-qi-wireless-charging-cover-black.htm
White one on preorder: http://www.mobilefun.com/47948-official-samsung-galaxy-alpha-qi-wireless-charging-cover-white.htm
For wireless charging how does this exactly work?
It works by induction. You need a special charging station (read: a square box that is resting on your nightstand from now on), where you can put your phone on. You don't have to fiddle with plugs.
The charging station works with a standard USB connection and for your phone you need the above mentioned back cover, with is a complete replacement for the existing backplate. The special back cover contains all the electronics and contact pins to connect with the phones battery.

Of course, they have to place the coil somewhere, it's just a sacrifice you have to make for having the convenience. Also most flexable rubber/silicone cases do work because they stretch (I just prefer to go without them for the sake of ruining the design of the phone).
It should be arriving here by end of week and I'll be sure to take a few pics for you guys.
FYI, I have purchased a wireless charging back for every single Samsung device I have ever owned so I have plenty of experience (S3, S4, Note 3, and currently S5)
I was running the wireless charging back on my LG G3 so I have some experience as well. That back only added 1 millimeter to the thickness...I measured it. Just better design. I have the alpha and I'm currently testing next to the iPhone 6. Liking both phones alot. Need to test battery life

The most disappointing thing about the wireless charging back cover, other than its extra thickness which makes it less flush, is on the standard cover, the SAMSUNG logo is shiny and embossed, giving the same effect as the metallic edging. On the wireless charging cover, its matte and flat like a cheap tacky plastic print. Not at all in-keeping with the quality of the rest of the phone.

Hmm this is quite strange, usually Samsung does not cheap out on those wireless charging back covers and try to make it as identical to original as possible (at least on all the models I've used them on). Perhaps they didn't spend as much into this one due to the lack of popularity/demand for this device. Still surprises me though, it should cost cheaper in that case as well.
@jerflash: Actually on the S5 the gain in thickness is almost not noticeable. My dad uses one and switched backcovers and you don't see it.
Inductive coils are super thin copperwires that need next to no room for themselves.
I bought one of these for my note 3 and even though it did give it some weight and thickness, the battery cover was thick enough that the camera lens would not come in contact when places on a flat surface which was nice.

That is the wireless charging cover of the Alpha right? Can you tell me if it has magnets in it for alignment? I'm trying to build a car dock with magnetic attachment like the Nexus 5 and wonder if this cover for the Alpha would let me do that.

It definitely works (using it daily at work) so whoever you talked to has no idea what they're talking about. Wouldn't be the first time honestly.
That wireless charging cover looks super ugly and so doesn't fit the amazing design of the rest of the pone. Not sure what Samsung was thinking when making such a poor looking charging cover.

is it possable that Alpha has OIS
Can you shere this info with us m8
Could you please tell me whether the extra thickness of the cover makes it impossible to fit a case over it? I have in mind a flip case.
Samsung do not yet list a wireless charging back on their web site for the Galaxy Alpha. I wonder if this is a picture of the back for the bigger battery.
I got my official wireless charging back. Unfortunately, it does make the phone slightly thicker which means cases are not going to fit over it. I tried a cheap plastic soft case which I thought would stretch enough to fit but it didn't. So I had better not drop my phone.....
Otherwise, the wireless charging works fine with a Nokia DT desktop charger.

Z3 adapter for magnetic charging dock dk39

How long will it take till someone starts selling this simple plastic piece on ebay? I have a z2 tablet with charging dock dk39 and I don't want to buy dk48. Some updates from the dk-48 I bought from ebay. It comes with 34A, 34B (most width), 45A (least width) and 45B.
I use 34B with casing and 45A without casing.
Guys I figured out a way to make the DK39 work for the Z3: just take the included adapter, flip it upside down and lay it over the back and top of the slot. The connection isn't perfect but it is stable enough to get a charge for the Z3.
Just got my dk48 today. Has anyone done any charge tests to see how long it takes to charge using that than the usual plug in charger?

Cases that are wireless charging compatible

Merry Christmas everyone I got a Nexus 6 today as an early gift to celebrate Christmas and I love it. Are there any cases or charging pads that are powerful enough to be able to charge wirelessly with the case on?
What cases do you guys use? Also, I am a huge Buffalo Bills fan (they let me down on Sunday ) and are there any good custom cases that I can design the Bills logo on?

mine chargers fine on my cheap amazon wireless charger through the caseology case. nfc payments read ok too, not great but they work eventually.
What kind of caseology case? With the bumper?
I use a Spigen Ultra Hybrid case on mine - does everything I need (bumper surround to protect the phone, clear see-through back, slightly proud at the front to protect the screen when the phone is face down). I also use an IntelliArmor tempered glass screen protector.
The Spigen works fine with all my Qi chargers, both desk and car (I have quite a few, as I was trying lots of them when I first got the phone).
(Once you use Qi charging you'll never want to go back. I was all ready to buy a 6P, but the lack of wireless charging was a deal breaker for me).

I'll second this. I'm also using the Spigen Ultra Hybrid with my Nexus 6, and I have absolutely no issues with all three of my Qi chargers. To be perfectly honest, I've found that I prefer the convenience of my Qi chargers over the speed of my quick chargers. Don't get me wrong, I still use my quick chargers when I need a speedy boost, but I love just being able to set my phone down and not having to pick up a cord and plug it into my phone.

Wirelessly charge mine every night with this one http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B017O..._rd_t=36701&pf_rd_p=2068141862&pf_rd_i=mobile
I, too, have the Spigen Ultra Hybrid case.
I've used it so far with the CHOETECH Iron Qi stand, as well as the Spigen F300W Qi stand.
With both of them, Ampere reports that the phone is charging at 620 to 700ma.
