Developer ROM - Redmi Note 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi , im realy new to Android.
Finaly i got my first one (Redmi Note 2 Prime) and i don´t know if i should install the developer ROM or should i got with the stable ROM.
Is there a big difference between the both ROMS?
I got my Redmi Note 2 Prime with a ROM from the seller and i mentioned that i got a commercial pop up and the phone is somehow a bit lagy.

Go ahead and flash the developer rom. It is very stable and faster than MIUI6 (which is the 'Stable' version). Don't forget to wipe all data afterwards.

K , but the MIUI 7 Developer has no German Language?

Looks like it has only English and Chinese languages.

...

which gapps to use to get playstore and google services?

The dev rom is stable enough, so take the dev version. Just go on xiaomi.eu and download "Hermes".

So anyone actually having joy downloading it from Miui servers? It is taking a glacial age. Anyone know a mirror?

Just rename on download link in en.miui "bigota" to "obigota"

Redmi 2 Prime (Made In India)

Device - Xiaomi Redmi 2 Prime (Config & Info)
Recently Xiaomi Redmi 2 Prime Launched in India (Made In India) & I am Proud to Have It
I am Coming from OPO & Loved that a Hell Lot except the SIZE!
Now I have few Quarries (I was not able to get clear answers from MiUi)
01. Is the ROMs from Redmi 2 (1GB/8GB) are also working for Redmi 2 Prime (2GB/16GB) ?
02. What is the Most Stable & Close to Stock Android ROM Available? (No Launchers Idea Please!)
03. What about Modem Files of this Device??
What I Need is a clean ROM something like Paranoid Android Kitkat ROM For OPO (Most Stable & Clean Rom I have ever Used)..
If anyone is having this device .. & can suggest me something .. Will be thankful.. If not forward it to someone may be who can help.
### Redmi 2 (1GB/8GB) And Redmi 2 Prime (2GB/16GB) are different in my eyes..so please mention if YOU HAVE IT ALREADY

Hey Guys Some one Explain it on MiUI forums.....
As many of you are aware, Xiaomi released the Redmi 2 Enhanced Edition (or Pro Edition as it is known elsewhere) with 2GB RAM and 16GB Storage back in February. However the only model released was the HM2014813 China Mobile version. Funnily enough this phone fully supports global GSM/HSPA frequencies and even has better LTE band support as it works on both 1800 & 2600MHz across Europe and Asia. Not only that but many resellers are now selling this device to international customers.
Whilst Xiaomi has released other Redmi 2 versions across India, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia etc they are all based on the standard 8GB model with 1GB RAM. These are built off the China Unicom HM2014811 model and as a result the MIUI 6 Global ROM works across all of these versions. However previously when attempting to flash the Global ROM onto the 2014813 model, the installation would fail.
Initially most users and moderators believed this to be due to the difference in RAM across the models, with one having 1GB RAM and the other having 2GB RAM.
Some users though speculated that this actually wasnt the reason as the Xiaomi MI3 and Xiaomi MI4 share a ROM under the Cancro model name. This is despite a difference in RAM (2GB & 3GB respectively) and even a different processor (Snapdragon 800 and Snapdragon 801).
It was therefore believed that it had something to do with the different radio frequencies and LTE band support. I decided to take a closer look and recently I managed to get a hold of the Redmi 2 (2014813) Enhanced Edition. I started by downloading the latest fastboot ROMs available. Firstly I downloaded the fastboot ROM for the 2014813 model from Chinese MIUI webiste. This was version 6.5.2.0. I then dowloaded the latest Global fastboot ROM which was version 6.4.4.0 (as the 6.5.2.0 ROM hadnt been uploaded yet).
I extracted the TAR images fully and opened the flash scripts. In those I found the file corresponding to the cellular modem known as the NON-HLOS.bin. I thought that if I swapped the modem file from the Global ROM with the one in the 2014813 software, I would be able to successfully install the ROM via fastboot.
I tried it and it worked! I managed to get the ROM to fully install via fastboot on my Mac. I unplugged the device and set it up. Everything went through fine, even setting up my Google account. However the most important part to test was still left. The phone functionality. Did my modem swapping solution work?
I plugged in a T-Mobile SIM Card and straight away got HSPA+ signal! I tested with a telephone call and got crystal clear reception on both ends. I then turned off WiFi and tried the mobile data which worked fine. I have now tested every single part of the phone including Camera, Gyroscope, LED, Bluetooth, GPS, Compass and Loudspeaker. They are all working. The phone even shows 2GB RAM in the multitasking menu.
The only function not working is the OTA update. As the update zip will try to replace the modem, it will fail during installation. However this is very easy for Xiaomi to fix. All they need to do is provide a Global ROM for the 2014813 model with the correct modem which as seen is just a single file. They should easily be able to add a download link in each future update for the 2014813 model, both as fastboot/recovery packages and as an OTA zip. Hopefully they add this soon, especailly as more and more users are buying the Redmi 2 Enhanced Edition. Other than that everything else works.
i have flashed redmi2 prime using remix rom i am getting red screen on my phone please help me further

Flashing Redmi Note 2 With Clean ROM?

I was going to buy a Redmi Note 2, but I noticed some of the reviews on Aliexpress say the phone comes with malware and that Chinese advertisements pop up regularly. The reviews say you have to flash a clean Miui ROM to resolve the problem, but I had a few questions about doing this:
Where do you get a clean Miui7 ROM for the Redmi Note 2 from?
Do you need to root the phone in order to flash the ROM?
Are there any step by step instructions anywhere for flashing the ROM?
I'm not really up to date with this sort of thing so I'm grateful for any advice you can offer.
Official ROMs are available from en.miui.com. Please read their forums for info on the different types that are available for the RN2. At the moment there are stable and developer Chinese ROMs available (these contain only U.S English and Chinese), the latter being rooted.
Unofficial multilanguage ROMs are available from xiaomi.eu, in two flavours, stable and developer, the latter having built in root via the security app.
My phone was delivered with a full multi language ROM including UK English language and region available, but it was buggy and had malware, or at least adware that is not present in the official ROMs. I installed an official ROM before entering ANY personal information or accounts.
Go to the download page for the RN2 on en.miui.com, there are full instructions for the various ways to flash a ROM. You do not need a custom recovery, you do not need to be rooted, you can even do it from the built in updater app, even if it's the unofficial multi language ROM that you're flashing.
Thanks a lot for the detailed advice. It looks easy enough, so I'll go ahead and order the phone.
I notice the stable ROM is MIUI6 and the developer ROM is MIUI7. Do you know if they'll be releasing a stable MIUI7 ROM any time soon?
I'm trying to download a clean ROM, but the downloads seem to stop at 3MB or 16MB when it should be 700+MB. Any tips? (This is from the official site... as far as I can see)
Try using a download manager like jdownloader or download from xiaomi.eu
I made a video guide -
I've managed to download the weekly from xiaomi.eu was nice and quick this morning using a French mirror from Androidfilehost.com
All I need now is the damn phone. Lol

Suggest reading the "General" forum rather than posting in a development sub-forum on a developers message board first for a non-development-related issue. You could also read the forums on the actual en.miui.com site which tell you how to do it; http://en.miui.com/thread-420091-1-1.html
The reason it says "No updates available" is because there are no official updates available. You need to follow the guides on that site and flash a beta.
Download the latest beta rom .
Go to updater app click on 3 dots
Choose update from storage.
Choose the rom u downloaded
And u will be gud to go.
Make sure u choose China dev if u have a China stable rom or choose global dev if u have global stable rom
thanks guys ill try

A moderator on the Xiaomi Forum just confirmed that you have a fake ROM. It seems that some resellers are flashing these fake global ROMs in order to sell them as Global.
Well, AFAIC i definitely would like to try this 'fake' ROM. Mine may be very real but also very much in chinese/english only. I wouldnt mind for myself, but my mother not so much. I'm pretty sure this is basically a reseller's modified CN ROM in order to sell as global with added languages.

can you have unlock bootloader and installer twrp and backups for me this rom
please
I received my mi pad 4 with this 'fake' global rom.
I've been using it all day and it's pretty good. It's miui but with integrated Google play out of the box.
If it is just the CN version with Google play services pre-installed then I'll stick with it for now. I don't have the ability to check if there are nefarious modifications made to this rom, but I know I'm taking a risk on it. Also I'm pretty sure there will be no over the air updates for it which is a bummer.
If there was a xiaomi.eu rom available I would flash that straight away.
The official CN image: does this include English at least?
In my opinion, I don't use this unknow chinese mod rom because she maybe contain malware.
Just use official MIUI rom or custom rom made by a good dev like in XDA.

What is my device's codename?

So hello, this is my first Xiaomi device before that I have always used Sony Xperia devices. So I am really confused about some things. I got the Redmi Note 9S 64 GB model. Acording to many web sites and some threads on XDA this model should be "curtana". But what I want to ask is about my "codename". So I am currently on MIUI global 11.0.4 (QJWTRXM) and I have looked up on XDA and many roms require you to have 11.0.7. So if I look up on https://xiaomifirmwareupdater.com/archive/firmware/curtana/ I only get the QJWMIXM global version. Can I flash QJWMIXM without any problems? My wait time will end tommorow and I will be able to unlock it. If anyone can help me out on this I would be very pleased...
Oh now after I post it I think have found something about it... QJWTRXM seems to be the Turkish version of the global rom. Which is outdated compared to it. So I think I can switch to the global rom since my device is 9S (curtana).

I was wondering if we can change the codename by OrangeFox Recovery
I think the same device is called Curtana for India Note 9 pro and Curtana_global for Note 9s . Any thoughts?
I would love to change my phone to curtana_global to get rid of device codename inconsistencies when switching between global and indian roms.
