[Q] Live TV

Just found an app in Apple's App Store that lets you watch live TV with all the UK freeview channels for free over wifi. Just wandering if there's a similar one for Android. Cheers

personally i find the quality on that really bad
its better if you open the full tvcatchup site, not the mobile one and play from that.
TV catchup when im in the UK is pretty good,http://www.androidzoom.com/android_applications/entertainment/filmon-watch-free-live-tv_bfywl.html isn't bad either but doesn't have loads of channels
cheers guys, the apple one was actually a link to this website. but the crazy thig is that on my ipod touch (which spec wise is way below the SGS2), the video is actually smooth, where as on my phone is a frame per 2 or 3 seconds. any idea if it's the player maybe? i used the stock one and rockplayer both with same result
edit: the filmon one is crackalakin!!! cheers dudes

[Q] Best TV and film apps?

I recently got the Asus Prime and want to know the best apps for getting and watching tv and movies, i wouldn't mind paying for the app if need be but preferably wouldn't want to pay for every film and programme I watch, however a free app would be even better! Id like to be able to download in a WiFi area and then watch them on the go when i do not have connection. Also, what app is best for downloading and managing music free music, as I don't fancy playing for each and every song! Finally, i need a word processing app which includes word, PowerPoint and the other basic office tools, this I don't mind paying for as I'd like a good quality processing app. Any help on either of these subjects would be very helpful!
Regards Jack

TV.COM APP-T.V. SHOWS
HBOGO.COM- NO APP for us yet on ICS or tablets but you can go to the website if you have HBO in your cable lineup. All you do is pick your service provider and sign in. Then now you can watch HBO movies and series on your tablet through web browser. App should be coming soon for tablets.

For movies and shows that you already have (as well as movie trailers and youtube clips I think) I recommend the excellent Mizuu. It's like a tablet version of WMC, Boxee, XBMC, etc. The IMDb app is also an excellent representation of what a tablet optimized app should look like.

LiveTV on the Nexus Q

I'm very interested to see how Google navigates the 'Live TV' area of the Nexus Q home entertainment machine. Google TV hasn't exactly taken off as they had expected for a number of reasons - namely high price and buggy, hard to understand implementation. I'm hoping they've learned from their mistake with the Nexus Q.
Right now my home TV setup is comprised of a live TV server (Windows Media Center on Windows 7) and then an Xbox 360 running as a media center extender. This bring me live, HD TV with a great UI and total DVR functionality. It's decent, but a bit of a pain to launch the MCE App on the Xbox when you want to watch TV.
Google bought SageTV almost exactly 2 years ago. SageTV consisted of a media server running on a home PC which provides all DVR functionality, and then SageTV 'placeshifter' which allowed you to watch TV, including premium cable content with a Cablecard, to any of their supported platforms.
SageTV was java-based, which means it is wholly possible that Google could be writing it into the Android platforum and the Nexus Q would be a perfect 'Extender' device. I'm hoping that Google might be working on this as a large secret project so that they can dominate the home entertainment ecosystem.
To me this would be the 'holy grail' of home entertainment. A box that supports both on-demand content (YouTube, Netflix, Music) as well as Live TV.
Does anyone think this is possible? Would you use such a setup?
I think your looking more for a Google TV than the Nexus Q. It's strange to kind of have competing boxes but the Nexus Q seems just for streaming content and the ability to easily share from phone/tablet to your entire house depending on how many you have.
Why they just didn't ad some of these functions to the Google TV product I don't know.
But a nexus q as a front end working with say hdhome turner and feeding streams out Google tv.....god I want this, I love my htpc but I want something like android for the popularity

Long live adobe flash player

What will come first the app for flash player on WP8 or a new OS. I think this is biggest lack of app now. It seems there is no end in site for flash, its time MS paid for developing it. Anyone have any insight on this WP8 missing piece.

Meh,
The only page I've come across that needed flash was the one for a local restaurant. The majority of the sites have minimized or move from flash, or aren't intended for mobile devices.
That said, I'm sorry you can't create your new candy concoctions or tend your farms from your phone, thought there are plenty of other games that you can play that run natively on the phone.

perhaps you don't read BBC or stream video from tv sites. Thanks for cotton candy speech.
Adobe as of the year before last pulled out of the mobile market. That means flash is not even available on Android devices now unless you get a third party app that may still be floating around. All websites are supposed to be converting to HTML5 if they want mobile viewer traffic. If they have not converted then they are only interested in PC traffic and you should boycott the site to show them the traffic they are missing. Rather than make your work, you should make the sites do what they are supposed to do.
My android phone (Asus PadFone 2) is capable of showing live streams on Twitch.tv with the default browser, but I have no idea how. If I try to play a video from the day before on the website, it says I need flash player, so it only works if the channel is live. On my Lumia 920 however if I go to Twitch.tv, it says I need flash player, even if the channel is live... So how is it my PadFone can show live streams if its still flash-based, yet I get an error saying I need flash if I try to play videos from the day before?
I tried an unofficial Twitch TV app. on WP. It works well, but you have to pay to not get cut off every 5mins or so. I wish WP would also be able to show live streams on the actual Twitch TV website.
