[SOLVED] my HDX 7(unlocked) stuck in bootanimation - Kindle Fire HDX 7" & 8.9" Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

I did unlock thor's bootloader, flash SlimLP, and it booted successfully.
But now, *any* ROM stuck in bootanimation(over 5 hours!) since "Settings" app crashed in SlimLP. Of course I tried wipe system, data, cache before flash ROMs.
Do you have any ideas for solve this problem?

Try Nexus v4 as it has different roots than the CM variants. If looping persists you may need to reapply the 3.2.3.2 bootloader update (which may relock the bootloader) and/or do more serious remedial work from fastboot. I have limited experience in this area; hopefully another member of the community can help if it comes to that.

Did you also tried repair filesystem in twrp? Seems to me like corrupted internal storage... Beware - you will loose data, so double check what you are clicking to in twrp... Look for repair or change file system under wipe/advanced wipe... Choose desired partition and try to repair it.

*Solved*
thanks jeryll and Davey126, Finally my HDX was fixed!

I hadn't tried repair filesystem before your post, so I did it to /system and /data. after that, I tried wipe Internal Storage, but it failed.
And then I did [Wipe]->[Format Data], it successed. Finally I flashed SilmLP again, it booted successfully!

Great

I decided to restore the backup, but the date, system and the cache is corrupted, so i can not restore the backup. I can enter the fastboot and recovery. And already I tried to restore the stock ROM but only give me errors. What i do? Can anyone help me?

Errors:

Once my friend got this 'unable to mount' error, he ended up getting his mother board replaced. Anyways, good luck with your phone. Hope you find a way!

Thanks again, you think Motorola will replace the mother board even with the unlocked bootloader?
They might replace it, but it won't be covered under your warranty.

help! i am running out of storage space after messing up with twrp partitions

helo buddies!!
i am using RN3 snapdragon version.
i unlocked bootloader and installed TWRP and flashed CM13
after rebooting , i observed it was unstable, so i did "factory reset in twrp".
thats what created everything..then there was no OS to reboot!! somehow
i installed AOSP ROM and rebooted it, But soon after rebooting within minutes storage space is going to kilobytes!!!
i rebooted many times and there was no change.
everytime after wiping cache and data in twrp, storage space is reaching to 25gb and in minutes it is falling to kilobytes.

Some images would be very nice. Plus give some more detailed description as to what is happening. What do you see in twrp, device etc.
First of all, clean flash a miui rom via miflash and select format data and storage....
After you're done, check if the problem persist and unlock your bootloader again....

Your data partition seems to be fine in twrp. Try some partition info apps to check whether its system problem or something else.
But i can tell you, your partition table is fine. If you can try flashing a fastboot rom via miflash in edl mode.
I have encountered this problem last week, what I did was by formatting /data via TWRP (the one which including internal storage) and it gets fixed!

flash cm13 without rooting.. can i ????..

hellow everyone i have le max 2 x821 indian version, thats highly encrypted,..
i tried to root and unlocked the bootloader..
installed twrp successfully, but the encryptions not allowing to twrp to mount internal storage data,
i tried installing supersu through sideload but didnt worked the rooting is being prevented by encryptions as it shows there..
so , i cant root but i badly want to inatall cm13 on my device can i do that by using sideload without rooting as bootloader is opened.... will it affect my device if i try doing that.... please people help...:crying::crying::crying:
You need to erase the internal storage to have it decrypted. After installation of indian ROM, the phone's internal storage becomes encrypted. In order to decrypt it back, make sure you save everything from your phone inside a computer, then in TWRP, erase/format the internal storage, copy the new ROM that you want to flash via TWRP (you won't have any system installed so you can't reboot otherwise you'll endup in some bootloop). You can Enable MTP to see the device in computer. After you have copied the new ROM, flash it and enjoy. This is my experience on X820 after flashing indian ROM, so I'm not very sure if all described above will work on X821 but you can give it a try. If you brick your device, there is a fix for hard brick as well, so, no worries.
problem decrypting..
I tried it by doing format system.. but it didn't got decrypted... N everything remained same...

In TWRP you need to press "Wipe", then "Advanced Wipe" and select "Inernal Storage", then swipe to wipe. Do note that everything on your phone will be erased, contacts, photos, music, etc. Wiping only system won't decrypt anything.
not working..

i booted into twrp then selected wipe->advanse wipe-> internal storage and then swiped to wipe,..
then it showed wipe failed unable to mount something...
Try to check in Mount and see if you can change something that can help.
Also someone with X821 maybe can help in this matter.
i tried that didn't help..
Can anyone give me link to stock recovery, this twrp is not functioning n hindering my upgrade to 19s also... I want to have my stock recovery back anyone please give me img file of that...

Cannot Flash Rom / Restore - Error 7, Error 1001, Cannot mount System

Hey everybody,
I was on LOS 15.1 for a rather long time and I wanted to try RR, so as usual I backed up my system and tried to flash the RR-rom.
It did not work at all and I got several errors among which error 7 and the unability to mount system partition were the most prominent.
The device got bricked several times but I got it back to life with MiFlashTool, running either MIUI 8.5 or MIUI 9.
The strange thing is that even after flashing the MIUI-img - and basically bringing the device back to its factory firmware - I could not flash a rom.
I tried several recoverys; the latest TWRP, the TWRP linked in the LOS15.1 thread and OrangeFoxRecovery. None of them would work. I wiped all partition, nothing worked. I got different errors shown, most of them were error 7 or not being ablke to mount system, as stated before.
Right now I am back to MIUI and rooted it, which worked from OrangeFox, but I actually would like tzo run a custom rom again.
Any idea what I could do?
Cheers!
Noone who has an idea why it would not work?
I thought that after flashing via Flashtool the phone would be as good as new and all prioir changes would be gone? Wha can I not flash anything via recovery and get erros?
Or are there different versions of Orange Fox Recovery? RR would be treble, so I would need a treble recovery.
Cheers!
Have you tried to format internal storage?
If not backup data in sdcard or pc and format it using recovery.
Are you using trble supported recoveries?
Did you encrypted your data while using Lineage OS?
Hey,
well, yes, I encrypted data but since reinstalling MIUI via Flashtool this is gone. And I thought that this should be enough and reflashing it via MiFlash is like a factory reset? Is there anything I did not consider?
After Flashtool did not do the trick, wiped everything but External memory in TWRP, no kelp either.
I also did the normal wipe (where you dont have to choose which partition), this did not help.
As I said, I am currently on the latest OrangeFox Recovery but I also tried the latest TWRP and the TWRP in the LOS 15.1-Thread, which did not help.
To my knowledge all of the are treble recoverys?
I also tried to restore a vackup of LOS which did not work...
I flashed

When you reply quote, I didn't get notifications for your reply.
Your bootloader is unlocked and you installed Twrp recovery.
Try copying Rom zip to SD card and wipe system, data, cache, dalviks cache, internal storage (exclude sd card off course). Then install it.
It should work
As I said, I did all of this, yet it does not work.
After wiping I tried to flash RR rom...
I get "Patching system image unconditionally...
Then I get E1001: Failed to update system image. (in white)
Updater process ended with: ERROR 7 (in red)
Error installing zip file 'patch...' (in red)
Updating partition details (in white)
Failed to mount '/system' (Invalid Argument) (in red).
As I said, that happens with different recoverys and different roms (treble and non treble)

Are you sure the Rom you installating is for your device because error 7 occured if the rom you are trying install is not for your device.
Yes, of course, it was the correct ROM. Before error 7 I got error 1001 and I guess this was the initial problem.
My guess it that the problem was the decrypted partition which I did not format in twrp in my first go. Every wipe and format afterwards somehow did not help...
Now after having flashed recovery and different roms 10 times and using miflash 10 times it worked and now I am on RR. Don't ask me what eventually did the trick.

Great to know
I hated MIUI because of the bloatware and ads. Have fun using RR. If you want you can use Liquid Remix Pie its a great ROM.
Yes. I also did not like MIUI that much, that's why I was using Lineage before I wanted to try RR: Thanks for the advice for anothe rom.

If I format data, then I have to reboot into the recovery menu to be able to use data again. But this is impossible, because it gets stuck into the bootloop every time I try to reboot. Any other option to fix this error?
EDIT:
I could fix it myself:
1. MIUI latest version; flash with MiFlash.
2. flash TWRP with e.g. YUware
3. flash latest fw_vendor in TWRP
4. full update pixel expierence (NOT incremental) rom flash
5. Partitions/Data/Format
6. Reboot and ready to use

I really need someone to help me! MY DEVICE WONT BOOT

I successfully unlocked by bootloader, installed TWRP but as i was figuring out how it all worked something went wrong. i can no longer boot into my device (its stuck on the sony/carrier boot screen) and i belive that i may have completely removed by OS from my device. A website told me that i should to something with changing the file system and i think that has something to do with it. I have tries re-installing a stock rom but i cant seem to get it to work (I am noob). When i try to flash the zip it says 'invalid zip file format!' i really dont know what to do. Any help would be grealty appreciated as this is my only phone. I dont care if it has to be reset to factory settings.

First, let's start with the small stuff, just in case. Try booting into TWRP and select the Wipe option, then select advanced wipes, then choose only the cache partition and the dalvik cache partition, DO NOT choose any other partitions, after choosing cache and dalvik cache, swipe the slidee at the bottom to run the wipes, then reboot the device.
The stock .zip that you tried to flash probably isn't made for flashing via TWRP. It is probably meant for extracting the .zip to get the flashable form of your stock firmware and then flashing that firmware using your device's specific flashing tool on PC. Flashing the firmware will remove TWRP. After you get the firmware flashed and you get the device working again, you will have to reinstall TWRP the same way you did the first time. When you get TWRP reinstalled, immediately use the Backup option in TWRP to create a backup of everything on your device(do not include internal storage in the backup). Store that backup on your external sdcard and/or on your PC. Do this BEFORE you attempt any kind of modification ms to the device. This backup can be used to restore your device if you mess it up again.
After creating the backup and storing it in a safe place, then you can try making the modifications that you were originally trying to do.

Your phone's Android 7 has neither a Dalvik cache nor an ART cache. TWRP is misleading in this respect.
Try to re-flash phone's Stock ROM ( Android 7 ) by means of Sony Xperia Flash Tool.

Yes I managed to do this. The only problem now is that my phone is on Android 7. Before it was on Android 9. I've went to the software update section on the phone but there's no update available. Will I have to flash an android 9 ROM to get the update or will it eventually come to my phone
Thanks
@jakessavage
Moving from one Android version ( e.g. 7 ) to another one ( e.g. 9 ) istn't an update but an upgrade.
Don't think your phone's OEM/Carrier automatically supply an upgrade, but only updates if recognized to be necessary.
IMHO in case of Android 9 for your phone is not provided by OEM/Carrier, you have to flash a Custom ROM based on Android 9.
