probably rushed release after the .485 leak

So uhm...I have it running, prerooted, and all that. Not noticing much of a difference here.

Is the 509 firmware 5.1.1 cause if it is you might be able to patch the stagefright exploit
They have a patch on the z3 side- stagefright patch libs it works with multiple devices
In the z lineup My guess is it will work for ours if we can get 5.1.1

me too but i think its too early we have to wait and see how is the battery life + overheating under this build
- i noticed that when i tick the admin logo it give me my contact card not the page with (guest) admin !!!
- no LTE logo on the quick setting screen !!

Im not sure about battery life yet. For 485 but I can tell you the ui seems more native to it then kitkat and I used to check my ram all the time on kitkat it would be mostly at 1.4 to 1.3gb free ram available. On 485 it's 1.7 to 1.8 gb free ram so... That's really nice that 20 to 25% more free ram

So I made a pre-rooted flashable file with the new ftf however, Titanium Backup refuses to restore my apps, which is a shame because this version seems a bit faster to me.
EDIT- Fixed, when in doubt verify your backups people.

Not sure. That thread disappeared. If you do a google search for z3v unofficial lollipop update and look for the article on xperiablog. It has a link to the firmware and the pre-rooted flashable.

Yea I was looking around I thought 509 might have been 5..1.1 but it's still 5.0.2 so there cant be much of a difference anyway.

I have my prerooted .509 file upload in progress. I'll post the link in the next hour under a new thread, probably in the development section.

Thank you, much appreciated... a side note the sony fm apk that now works on the Z3v there is a xposed module for it to work without the headphones -xperiafmwohs- you can use that or rebuild the app if it bothers you. Although you may or may not get reception without the headphones in.

Hm, didn't know that. Pretty neat, but I think I'd stick with the headphone use just for better reception and maybe sneak to use it in class to listen to some keyword winning lottery. haha
Oh and, I've posted the prerooted FW I have on the Z3V Development board already. Check it out!

mmm i think the 509 is better ; fluid + battery life is good too
now we can keep our z3v for a wile :good:
see attachments and compare both devices z3v(~424 ppi pixel density, Li-Ion 3200 mAh battery), z4v(~565 ppi pixel density, Li-Ion 3000 mAh)
i favor the battery life over the ppi = z3v (more mAh)

Well is I've experienced, it is way more smoother than v20A was, that was too buggy, but this one seems to work nice.
I'm currently building & testing Purified Stock v2.0 based on this.

Then choose the firmware and press Launch software update.

I still hate LG launcher. It's laggy as s**t.
And there isn't much of a performance improvement, sadly.
i will try later thanks!
Well, after all, it is a huge improvement over V20A firmware. I kind of starting to love it, though I miss my language.
Mine was sluggish because many system files got corrupted when tranfering from one PC to another and deodexing screwed it up even more. Play Store didn't work, Play Services was crashing whole time, and many apps didn't work as they should.
Now I've redone everything, extracted system files, putted my newest kernel, added init.d support, but left odexed, because I don't play with Xposed at all and, in my opinion, odexed ROM is faster ROM
And what do you know - it's snappiness is now on par with Jelly Bean and CyanogenMod. Some apps got updated, notification bar now works miles better (in V20A it was way too laggy, though extensive tweaking reduced lag a little bit), lockscreen is also buttery smooth now. LG Launcher is still kind of poor, version in Jelly Bean is better choice.
And while it's branded ROM, there is a lot of bloatware, which really annoys and eats RAM.
That's all what I've gathered from an hour of usage.
anyone got v20c via ota? or it has been released only for spain...
v20a is laggy as hell.. hope this will be better...

I currently have the AmigaKitKat ROM, which I'm very pleased with. However the LED problem drives me insane.

I still have the same issue regarding LED (yellow light for no reason).
I guess I'll just use older drivers in my newer kernel build.

If I recall, the yellow light for no reason was something that happened if you set up charging LED. What interests me is whether LED control apps like Light Manager or Light Flow work now (when all LED options are unset except for the external apps one).

No good reason except to keep up with the latest and greatest. It has a couple of nice features but is still a little buggy according to several threads I've read.
I'm staying on 4.4.2 until 5.02 comes out to fix some of the little bugs and Xposed module is stable and works correctly.

Good idea. I did the upgrade and immediately my battery life was cut by a quarter. Instead of going from 6am to 11 pm I now have to recharge by 3pm. Samsung, of course, doens't have an answer. I did a factory reset and that didn't have an effect. One support guy told me to wait til the phone 'adjusted' to the new OS. It's a phone, not a living thing! It works or it does not. And because of some mojo stuff the update did to the phone rumor says you can't go back to KitKat.
I'd wait until this is worked out before I upgraded.
If your rooted try changing the governor/scheduler to Powersave and CFQ ..
My battery life has doubled.
At 10pm my phone is still 50 to 60 % left.
Also turn-off animations and De-bloat it.
Not rooted so that's out. Did all the rest and still bad battery life.
The good news is that Omega Rom is coming out with a Lollipop version shortly. That's the Rom I've been on for years over several different devices and their releases are pretty stable. So I'll give it a shot when the new Omega is released.
I went back to KitKat yesterday and my battery life is excellent again. I'll think long and hard before I upgrade again. All things considered equal if your battery doesn't last any additionally functionality is a waste. Poor move, Goggle.
No dont do it its really not worth it!! Kitkat is way better!

I'm getting better battery life on Lollipop and like it so far. ::Indie:: does a great job with the Omega ROM. His Lollipop ROM is no exception.
I don't really like the white background on everything but I'm sure there will be themes out shortly.
I'm really enjoying lollipop. Running http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-galaxy-s5/development/mods-lolliozop-t3036068 everything customizable and smooth. Only missing xposed

Lack of Lollipop speculation

Could it be that verizon got so hammered from the issues surrounding the S5 update they are holding off on ours till they know its good
Not likely. I see Lollipop updates are released for other phones even the Galaxy S4.
I see people posting about how they're ready to give up on this phone because of the lack of update for one important feature. TBH, I don't blame them since I blame this entirely on Verizon. Serious lack of support here, and they couldn't even shoot a minor update for VoLTE. I'm just enjoying what I can with my phone and I'm on a two year contract anyway. If I were given the choice, I'd be grabbing the Z3 or Note 4 instead just because of more options. Until then, I do solidly hope there's something we can look forward to for just an update since it's already May now.
Exactly, figured today would be some sort of update since it's may the 1st and Friday which typically good things are always on Friday, lol. Just extremely annoyed when I need to look something up when I'm on the phone and can't.

It's funny how terribly unreliable Verizon's own network info is to their own employees. First it's claimed we'll have VoLTE for Q1 2015, and we're in the middle of Q2. And all Verizon can say is subscribe to so-and-so link to receive updates.
Still no known info...
Now you see why "root" is so important, had we had root by now we would have a custom ROM of Lollipop at least.
Verizon always sucks when it comes to stepchildren phones (top tier phone but not of the brand Verizon wishes to push).
VoLTE will be just like all of Verizon's brilliant ideas, buggy, uses more bandwidth and works far worse than analog ever did, and no one actually asked for it.
Bombard Verizon with request until VZW gets tired of it, scream loud and scream long, only way VZW seems to listen. :good:
Yup I've been Facebook messaging Verizon every day about advanced calling. Just to bug them
so the tmobile version just received lollipop and again still no words from verizon and even the international xperia z received lollipop now. wtf!???

No they wouldn't have been able to port another lollipop rom over just because you have root. Normally this is all you need for most devices but with the Z3, devs need the update to be released first before they can make roms for it.
The T-Mobile Z3 has been rooted for about a month and still has not seen one custom stock rom. Reason being lollipop hadn't been released yet by T-Mobile

Like your optimism, thought I had read that when lollipop is rooted it needs a unlocked bootloader (Zygote was a temporary solution) cause you have to be able to flash a custom kernel to gain root, our phone's need an unlocked bootloader or we will be back in the same situation again, besides makes more sense to have an unlocked bootloader.

Pretty sure we just need a pre-rooted ftf. That is the way it worked with my Z2. As long as you have root and recovery you can flash the prerooted ftf without unlocking the bootloader.

Read the first paragraph of the PRF Creator thread
"What is a pre-rooted firmware
A pre-rooted firmware is a firmware, which already includes root. This is for example important if you want to update the firmware to a version, where there is no public root exploit. To flash a pre-rooted firmware, you need a recovery menu. An unlocked bootloader is not required."
Root is required to install the locked dual recovery, hence you need to be rooted already.
Hm, just a small say here. I flashed back to the shipped firmware that our phones came with from last year (still rooted), and I'm seeing for sure the battery doesn't die as quickly as the current firmware that's out today. What I'm trying to say here is, I hope Lollipop is designed for better battery efficiency for our phones that does have it achieve a 2-day battery life sort of deal. I don't know exactly what it is that the current firmware is making our phone die faster, but I hope Verizon does some right in it.
Plus, this is already halfway through June. Total bullcrap nonetheless about the lack of update anyhow.

I felt the same way. So I did a factory reset from stock recovery, set everything up again but left it on the .44 update. The only xposed module I am using is gravity box and I disabled sync for google calendar and changed exchange sync to every hour rather than push. I'm using stamina mode with Extended Stand by, Extended Usage and Stamina Clock enabled. I sync a few google items and my outlook email. Location services are normally disabled. I've barely used my phone the past couple of days so this speaks more to what I am getting with it in stand by but I've been off the charger for 52 hours and 35 minutes and am at 52% battery remaining. My standby drain is ~.5% per hour. Which is pretty good.
edit: I'm on a moderate LTE signal most of the time, and used wi-fi for a few hours.

So who still checks this Forum ? ( ********* PLEASE READ ******** )

I still use this device for gaming only. I play Underworld Empire via WiFi/mobile hotspot. Have multiple toons in the games . It is rooted and running TeamOctos MM weekly build rom.
I use my old Note II as a training device for my 6 year old. The thing is a tank.

First Off, thanks for the response!
Second, Yeah i would love to go with a newer weekly build and version of android.. .. but I just really like to have screen options to turn screen off, bring up power menu, and have options for screenshot and screen record. I had forgotten about the power of XPosed Framework ( which R3D utilizes ) and perhaps that could help make OCTos more useful for me..
I also do like some of the touchwiz features that I can use with the S-Pen.. so i'm torn.. LOL
I have xposed installed along with TeamOctos, gravity box mm module installed. Since TeamOctos rom have most of the features, I scantily use the gravity box options. Don't wanna break anything lol. I find the s-pen was more a gimmick than anything else. The capacitive buttons don't work with the pen, have to manually press with finger (this was fixed with the Note 3, which I sold). Also there are 3rd party apps that can do just about the same as the Samsung spen apps.

yeah i was using that for a little bit.. but I noticed the overall sound volume seemed to be lower... when I went back to 4.4.2 , i could really hear the difference... i'm not sure if that is a AOSP issue or what.. do you notice it?
Yes unfortunately it is because of AOSP. I remember having to manually editing a mixer.xml file to increase the volume but still wasn't close to the sound level of TW rom. I got use to the low lvls after a while.
Now I don't use it as my daily driver so sound isn't really an issue anymore. Performance and battery life is what I'm looking for so it's ideal.

Ahh ok thank you. that makes me feel a lot better to know it wasn't just me that noticed it and that it wasn't directly related to my phone or my flash status...
so I guess its not an easy fix or even possible since it wasn't addressed when this phone was still being developed... darn..
I really don't recall what the reasoning was, if it was due to drivers or software. It can be remedied by editing the sound file, I believe someone has done it with this phone. Do a post search for low sound or mixer.xml on here.
Haha not trying to sell AOSP roms or anything but I find them more useful with their options. Isn't that the main reason people use Android phones, for their customization?

HA yes.. but i guess for those of us that don't have multiple phones to try out different ROMs and updates :silly: constantly have to find the happy medium between stability, functionality and customization.. Right now i'm gonna stick with TW 4.4.2 (at least on my Note II) since I need to have these things on my phone for me to use it as a daily driver:
1. Stable (won't freeze up / random reboots / random power offs / FC'ers)
2. Camera - Camera must be able to take great photos (at least as good as the physical camera is)
3. Sound - Must have great sounding audio for voice calls / speakerphone / ringtones and for media watching
4. Functional - Must be able to not miss calls / notifications or messages and connect to data for internet
5. Battery - Battery must be decent to good.. want it to be able to last at least 1 day of medium to heavy use..

Yes unfortunately it is because of AOSP. I remember having to manually editing a mixer.xml file to increase the volume but still wasn't close to the sound level of TW rom. I got use to the low lvls after a while.

You are correct there. I could not find it either myself. I wonder if TeamOctos even included it in their build for this phone. I checked with another phone of mine (LG G3) thats running the same ROM. It has the mixer_paths.xml in the folder system/ETC. May have to contact them to find out why... Sorry, like I've mentioned, I don't use my Note II as a daily driver so haven't had the need to increase the sound levels. I wonder if its possible to just copy the file from another ROM?

yeah i thought about that but nervous with all that modifications either messing something up or not even getting it as loud as TW..
right now i think ill stay with a 4.4.2 rom and use xposed to get the features i like. do wish i had 6.0 but have to be happy with what i got. ?
Sorry I couldn't have been more helpful. Hope things will look up for you and that you may be able to afford a newer phone. This years phone releases haven't been all the great, maybe next year will see some really great improvements. The biggest thing is the battery life in most cell phones nowadays (unless you have removable option). Manufacturers will never give you a better battery/longer life because they want consumers to keep buying newer phones. Batteries usually only have a lifetime of about ~1.5 years, the more you charge, the less it will hold a charge. Forces people to buy new phones

yeah true.. and for me its difficult because i'm fairly picky with what I want in the phone... seems like i haven't actually found a "perfect" one yet... several will have 80 to 90% but some will be missing 1 major thing i want.. and then i have to decide how important that is... So far from all the phones i had.. I think my Nexus 5 would probably me my all time favorite... of course I would have preferred an AMOLED display, front facing speakers and better cameras... but again.. had to pick and choose... the HTC 10 was amazing as well.. but I did have some issues with my LTE signal dropping.. so not sure if it was a fluke or because of my Total Wireless service? maybe the ROM.. idk.. LOL
Hmm favorite all time, may have to go with my Note 3 til I sold it. Had it with Verizon, unfortunately the bootloader was locked and when I updated to Jasmine rom, screwed up and lost root. It was a great phone, s pen is so useful, removable battery, amoled display, SD card slot. Camera was alright, my V10 excels in that department! I'm with T-mobile now, service is great for where I need it and their phones are mostly bootloader unlocked. Can easily root them.
Watching Floss Carter on YouTube, with his review of HTC 10. His biggest negative factor is that the phone is too small for him. Everything else is good, he even mentions that HTC should've made two options like HTC 10 and 10+.
His top 5 phones:
1: Note 5
2: Nexus 6p
3: iPhone 6s+
4: S7 edge
5: LG G5

Xposed Modules for V20

I know there's a whole thread dedicated to working modules but I wanted to start one for this phone, basically just what works what doesnt, I'm running
AD Blocker Reborn
Amplify
Greenify
Flat Style Keyboard
And Xmessenger
They all work perfect if anybody is running anything else that works feel free to let everybody know
I should say I'm not as well versed in Xposed as some people, I started using it in Kit Kat maybe maybe lollipop not sure but I'll try my best to answer any questions that get asked
Did you get the autotint feature to work with the flat style keyboard?

You gotta use version 3.7.1 beta. It's on Apkmirror.

I can't seem to get amplify working on my phone. Mind telling which rom are you using and what type of root (supersu or magisk)?

There's a magisk module called greenify4magisk and it allows it to run in Xposed mode I'm on break at work or id link it for you and also a few posts above said use 3.7.1 I would try that it will probably work better
Edit: I just installed 3.7.1 and it detects Xposed and works great

Released officially for Nougat a few days ago, I'm on WETA Rom and everything is pretty smooth, I made this thread so people can post what works and what doesn't specifically for this phone, there is an ongoing thread for all working modules on nougat but that includes AOSP ROMs and not all of us are running AOSP, also haven't run into any major issues boot times are a little bit longer but I haven't noticed a decrease in battery life or performance
Guys, do you xposed might work on Tilde's ROM?

Thx

If it's a stock based Rom I can't see why it wouldn't work, same goes for an AOSP Rom, as always make a Nandroid backup in TWRP before flashing just in case it doesn't work

I went to WETA for customization and the aroma installer had a bunch of stuff I could choose from, rooting in general it's just something I've been doing since my first Android phone, I'm amazed at what I can do with basically complete control, as I say to my friends that don't know what root is, if I want to do something I more than likely can, music didn't sound good enough to me so I installed viper4android music sounds amazing and I couldn't go back to stock, I wanted my battery to last longer so I installed greenify to force doze when I turn my screen off so I can get iPhone levels of standby drain, also it's just something fun to do there's always new stuff going on, Xposed just got released officially a few days ago and I honestly can't wait to see what comes of it.

yeah I would love to be able to force DOZE and also use Greenify to help preserve battery.. but nervous what features i'd lose going away from stock... does everything still function? or did you loose things like 2nd screen, or camera quality etc ?

I'm on WETA Rom I don't know what variant you are on but personally I have the H918 T-Mobile variant, it supports most of the major variants, and it's a stock based Rom it's built on update 10K and everything is intact second screen, camera quality, everything works perfect

Yeah i had started with the VS995 Verizon variant when I first went to the V20.. but after we switched to MetroPCS (via TMobile service).. I noticed that without all of the GSM bands.. my connection was HORRIBLE.. plus I did not have the WIFI calling / SMS features... so I switched to the H918 variant... SO Glad I did.. love the knowledge I could unlock my bootloader.. and it seems to have some of the default features that Verizon had locked out... IE FM Radio.. etc..
right now i'm on the 10q software.. so not sure if i'm locked out of anything or if thats still able to root / unlock and flash safely.

As far as I know 10p still hasn't been rooted, I would hold off updating for a bit if you do want to root, I don't know when a 10q root will be available
