Z Ultra Off Sale? - Sony Xperia Z Ultra

I've just had a look on Expansys UK, as that's where I got my last couple of ZUs (for £200). I notice that they are no longer selling them. Has Sony finally stopped making ZUs? Still available from sony.co.uk for £350, but only in white...

Are you eating them?)

Haha, no, I broke one and my son also has one... If I knew they were ending I might have bought a spare!

Yep its very good phone. Here in Russia there are many small companies that sell unlocked european phones, so it will be available some time. But it is a destiny of old phones to disappear...

Perhaps this means a new Ultra is on the way?
Or that Sony thinks the Z5 Premium is big enough...

If you look on this very forum you'll see a thread titled "Sony Xperia Z4 & Z4 Ultra Will Be Announced Jan 5th 2015..." - I expect these other rumours are just as reliable...

It's fortunate enough to get "the last unit" C6833 at local store.
The primary purpose is used as tablet (there's NO 7" with decent spec besides Nexus 7 2013).
Can Z5 Premium be the next Ultra?

The Premium looks like a really really great device, but it's just a slightly bigger Z5 with an screen that's not really necessary today. I would rather have a slightly larger device, like the Ultra, with smaller top and bottom bezels and a Snapdragon 820. We don't even know if the new Ultra even exist, but if I'm going to get a new device this year, it'll probably be the Z5. I just don't see the point of the 4K panel on the Premium.

Yeah, I agree, Z5 Ultra would be great. I wish... But Z5 Premium is just to damn small, I'd rather have a Z Ultra.

There's another option for T2U, but the spec is pretty disappointing (only 1GB RAM), so I have to hunt for ZU to replace my failing LTE tablet.

Yeah, Sony are still selling T2U but eBay ZU is probably better value.

The T2U is (well, even was at release) a mid-end device, so that would be a downgrade from the ZU. I don't just want a big screen. I want a big screen with raw specs packed inside a beautiful body, so I'll probably wait and see what happens. I'm guessing that some proper details about the new Ultra has to leak at some point, if it's real. Every single Xperia released was at one point leaked, so I'm expecting the same with the Ultra.

[Q] Is it worth to buy Sony Tablet S right now?

I have been meaning to wait for Xperia Tablet S 3G version to come out. But I'm tired of waiting, who knows when or even if it does come out at all in my country.
Not to mention the problem they're having right now. It can take ages to come out here.
Right now, there's only the Wifi version of Sony Tablet S that are available to buy. No 3G version. And the price for 16 GB one is about $480 if converted from my currency.
So I'm thinking of having Sony Tablet S 3G-16 GB version imported for about $570. What do you guys think?
I'd say no, the Sony Tablet S is totally different to the Xperia Tablet S - I felt that last years model was plasticy despite its good build quality and high price tag and the performance was poor.
Stick the wait out and you'll be sure to make the right choice.
absolutely not! other than the fact that tablet s (original one) hasn't that great build quality it has a lot of problem in term of modding.. i would go for a samsung tablet if you are interested in modding..
Id say yes! Is an excellent tablet.
The xperia tablet s production is stoped because a defect in the construction

Thanks for the feedbacks, I think I'll buy it anyway.
I wanted to buy a tablet for a really long time now, and I'm not really a patient person
And I prefer sony cause it's not common (maybe some of you find it strange, but I'm just quirky like that )
I'm also almost buy a Sony Tablet S... but I guess, the Xperia tablet is really better - in many ways... and probably worth waiting for...

Although I don't mind mine anymore, no way in hell would I recommend it to anyone for any reason and given the option, I'd swap it for another one without hesitation.

I agree that Xperia tablet is better than the original tablet S, but I really don't feel like waiting any longer.
From the looks of thing, it's most likely won't come out here until at least early 2013. Plus, there's no guarantee they will release the 3G version immediately. And having a wifi only tablet, here in my town, is just useless I think.
So, I'll just use STS now, and replace it with xperia tablet later when it comes out.

I got my girlfriend a Nexus 7, and although not quite as feature rich as the Tablet S, Root was so simple litterally a child could do it, it is soooooooooo much faster, and 16GB was plenty for her. 7 inch screen makes it sooooooooo much lighter/portable too. 32gb model will be out soon. Thinking of selling my Tablet S and get the 32GB Nexus 7 instead. I have litterally tried for weeks to get my Tablet S rooted and hate the propriotory connector, etc.
My 2 cents worth.

Anyone considering buying Nexus 4?

The Nexus 4's pricing has totally blown me away.. 300$ and 350$ for 8gb and 16gb respectively!
So, just out of curiosity I wanted to ask that is anyone up for buying this device?
Considering the high specs of this device and at such a pricing sounds a pretty good deal!
I will be buying it when it launches here in India?
Anyone else is considering to buy?

I for one have already decided to buy the Nexus 4, it's crazy cheap and the hardware is amazing.
I used to be a Sony fan as well, but after seeing some of the reviews of the Xperia T (and the practically non-existant and extremely overpriced Xperia V) I don't think staying Sony would be a good idea for me.
Besides, carrier subsidies here in Colombia are probably the worst in the world (phone prices get inflated to almost double) and the so called "subsidy" doesn't get higher than 10% of the phone's unlocked price.
Yes after reading some previews about the new nexus 4 my feelings get more and more stronger buying this phone.
Fabtatic hardware and specs and no more thinking about getting next android update.
The price is fantastic.

[Q] New LG Phablet..ZU beater ?

Hi Guys,
I was on the point of purchasing a SONY XPERIA Z ULTRA...then the news hit me today that LG are bringing out a identical size phablet..with KitKat (Android 4.4) and a higher ppi and who knows other features that may fix the shortcomings of the Z Ultra.
I don't know what to do ! wait or jump in and get the Z Ultra...I particularly like the stylus ability of the ZU and not sure if the LG will have that feature.
If I do go for the Z Ultra should I go for the 4G(LTE) or 3G version.....the 3G version seems to be cheaper....but this is a phablet I am going to purchase and get a SIM only deal and be free of any contract with a network provider, so am looking to make the right purchase (all my previous phones have been on contract).
Help guys...any advice/thoughts on my dilemma would be appreciated
Do you have a source regarding the LG phablet?

Think this just depends on how long your willing to wait but from what i read about the LG handset you wont see a thing about it till CES apart from rumored specs and again all just speculation. if you like the Z Ultra go for that. There will always be the current handset beater around the corner just go with what you like at the time. you never know the speed Sony are going you might just see a Z Ultra 2 at CES.
Same site giving us details to the Xperia Z2 already damn.
Ces 2014.. that's way too long to wait.. i'll go for the LTE ultra as soon as i complete my budget by end of sept

Wut? Same screen size and fhd res with higher ppi? That can only happen if the resolution is cranked up right? And ces 2014? By the time lg launched it, the birth of nex-gen SoC is already near..

Yup Quad HD.
http://lgdnewsroom.com/press_releases/2734
Can somebody please explain to me what exactly is the point of increasing pixel density past ~350 ppi? Once you can't see pixels anymore, you're just wasting processor cycles and battery life. I can't even start to see pixels on my Z Ultra until I get closer than 6 inches away.
Nope, not for me. LG software sucks and the screen definitely won't be a beautiful triluminos and not shown until CES? Ridiculous comparison imho.

All I want out of the ZU2 would be better battery, LED Flash on the camera (For flashlight abilities) and an official case that doesn't have a loose stylus holder and make the almost double it's size.
They can keep it's appearance the same, they can leave the screen the same size (Though bigger would be nice, if only up to 6.5"), hell they could even keep the same processor since the difference between the 800 and the 801 they include isn't really big.

Sony matches GPE price, drops C6806 to $450 shipped

Good news for North American buyers. Sony's web store now sells the C6806, new and unlocked, for $449.95 with free ground shipping. Black, white, purple—all colors can be bought for this price.
With the C6833 available from Asia for that price or less, there's no longer a reason to spend more than $450 on the LTE Z Ultra of your choice.

You're welcome. Anyone is welcome to copy and paste it as a starting point for their own table. Maybe someone can design a better one for a sticky. For example, I've arranged the LTE section's columns in ascending order by bands, not--as some might expect--in ascending order by frequency. I may change that when I get time.
I'll be buying my Z Ultra Google Play Edition from a Craigslist seller in 25 hours for $400 cash. The GPE was a gift and comes in a sealed box. I'll hide the box, so with any luck my wife won't notice I'm using a larger phone.

Hmmmmm.... Where's Steve when we need him? Damn it.
But alright, we should probably make a thread where the GPe owners can give some input (lol) and see how many (100%, that's a fact) want to get some development going on.
The first step would be to make the GPe compatible with the Xperia version. Do you have any idea how hard this would be, @DooMLoRD? I guess we'll need some boot/kernel changes?

No, because I'm keeping it in its box until I receive my glass screen protector and install it over Sony's plastic film!
I did take it out of the box to fondle and compare to the $15 Z Ultra dummy that I'd been carrying around to get a feel for the size and weight. Guess what? Both Z Ultras (1 real, 1 dummy) fit in my the pocket of my dress shirt!
