Any idea on how to update ADB on Chromebook? - Chromebooks

I'm trying to flash Marshmallow on my Nexus 7 but it says I have to update my ADB. Ubuntu hasn't updated their repositories so sudo update won't work.

You don't need a computer too root you need one to unlock your boot loader then flash a custom recovery

I see you didn't read the link I posted on op, windows 8 doesn't recognize drivers. HENCE I'm looking for alternative method which was suggested Linux.

You don't need drivers you use fastboot. Fast boot and the htcdev website is all you need. I see you didn't read the bible, any of the tutorials or the HTC dev website

I tried it from site and wouldn't work. I admit to not reading the Bible. Will post after doing so.

I came onto a snag following the instructions..Stuck on this step while installing the SDK, it seems that Java runtime doesn't work well on windows 8 (see attached screen pic for error).

Honestly, you don't even need the entire Android SDK. It's just a few files like adb and fastboot.
Once I installed the HTC drivers on Win8, everything worked fine.
For Linux, you only need fastboot which I've attached.

I haven't been able to get the files.. they were not in the zip file I downloaded from the site (SDK zip) the tutorial said I needed to install adb to get them.
Can you break it down for me on how you got the files?

If you're still having trouble (really shouldn't because I didn't have any), just boot into the Linux Live USB/CD and download the fastboot file I attached in my above post.
How'd you get around the win8 Linux boot block?
Or are you stuck running off usb/live live cd? (still no dual boot)

Good tool for the guys that dont wanna do it the old fashioned way. Good stuff Covxx!

Just did alot of work on this ... maybe a actually 1.0 release today...
What does this do exactly? If it installs the kernel without having to flash it from recovery, might be useful. Save 30 seconds or so of install time.

Adb and the fastboot commands
Soon itll unlock your bootloader
Keep it up-to-date with latest popular kernels/roms and I wouldn't mind downloading it.
I have no problem doing the commands manually, but if it can auto download and install kernels for me I'd love it just because I'm lazy
Re: FLASH HELP TOOL |fully automated| N00b Proof!|
Auto downloads? Hm I like that idea...(;

Tried using it to flash a kernel and it fails. When it asks to type ready or not yet, I type in "ready" and it says that "then" is not a recognized command. Must be a typo or error in the command scripting.
EDIT: Actually even the Read me option doesn't work. It just closes the command prompt. What OS did you test this on? XP? I'm using Windows 7 and there are likely some command syntax differences that make it incompatible.

[Q] Want to update stock firmware while on tmobile

Does anyone know how to update the Droid DNA while on GSM? I don't have a verizon sim and chose not to root. Anyway of a manual update to the latest OS? Thanks.
Download the latest HTC Sync program. Hook up pho e to computer. Once PC recognizes the phone, the app will prompt if there is an update available. Update it. Does not need Verizon network. It will install via ruu mode automagically

It downloaded fine and booted into the fastboot to update but because I'm using Windows 8.1 which has no drivers for the DNA fastboot as far as I know and tried.

Need help with OTA

I am trying to OTA 5.0 (LRX21L) -> 5.0 (LRX21R) but when I use adb to push it through it gives an error saying there is an unexpected difference between my version and the OTA file. Is it the recovery? I am rooted is that preventing the OTA from installing correctly?

Since you are rooted and have an unlocked bootloader, why don't you just flash the stock images and root again? And yes, being rooted prevents you from recieving OTA upadates.

No 5.1 update
