Just curious as to what other folks are getting for actual screen on battery time, as in, what do you think you would get in constant screen on usage?
I don't suffer from really bad battery drain, I think I could get a couple of days of light use from it.... but it does fair chomp the battery in use.
I reckon I could completely drain the battery in 3 - 4 hours of constant use of say web browsing, the odd game, texting etc, and am just wondering how that measures up with others; with talk of this device having iphone 4 levels of battery life, my last daily driver was said iphone, and that device managed about 50% longer screen on time, so it doesn't quite match that, but some are saying theirs is better?
I don't have the brightness cranked or anything, and I'm not exactly unhappy, but it probably matches my Incredible S for battery life, and both phones are perhaps slightly better than the Nexus One or Desire, which I didn't think were amazing in that department...

In my case, most of the battery is used by the display, given I used each about 1.5 hour before and after work during travel (with display turned on). So 3 hours of display on + some phone call and sms, that will drain the whole battery for me within one day. I think I need to buy a 2nd battery when it is available in Hong Kong.

Yeah same here. Display takes almost 50%. I have automatic brightness set on. I could of course set it to minimum brightness and it would decrese the battery consumption but I think it is ridiculous that I first buy a phone which is praised for its bright display and then I turn it to the darkest. Completely stupid. I tried that quickly and even my old Desire looked better then.

Exactly. I want my phone can have this battery life too.
Same juice hungry Screen here. :-( I never use automatic brightness either. It's set to a really low brightness, byt it's still chewing away on the battery like there's no tomorrow.

To shorthand it for everyone, the SGS2 came in fourth out of four when using web scripts until the battery dies utilizing the stock browser. Results are:

Apple iPhone 4 – 7:40 h
Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc – 5:25 h
Samsung I9100 Galaxy S II – 4:59 h (Opera Mobile browser)
LG Optimus Black – 4:30 h
Samsung I9100 Galaxy S II – 4:22 h (stock browser)
Samsung I9000 Galaxy S – 4:06 h
So since the SGS sucked more, I guess it's the Amoled screen doing them in. They should have used black web pages and the SGS2 would have won.
Actually, if you think about it, the SGS2 is pushing more pixels and has a dual-core processor with hardware acceleration to feed. So at least beating the SGS shows some progress.
Thanks for the comments guys. Good to know it's not just me. It'd be nice to get the same as the arc... So maybe there is room for improvement, but all those who say it can match the iphone are living in dreamland! Saying that, I'll still take the bigger screen, ta! However, certainly reviews like techradars are a little misleading imo.

It'll be interesting to see how the iPhone 5 performs with a bigger screen and dual core processors. At least we don't have to send our phones back to the mother ship to get the batteries replaced when they discharge for $150. Come to think of it, with a pocket full of extra batteries, we'd be able to go 24/7 with a couple of pit stops.

Luckily, the battery is so light that possibly having 1-2 extra batteries won't feel any weight inside the bag. If Samsung can release a "battery" direct charger (instead of charging through the phone itself), it will probably make my life easier.
Anyway, though the battery life is not as good as I originally expect, I still consider this phone as my best phone, EVER.

not really, the SGS2 has less pixels than the iphone 4 in that test, for example. and the iphone 4 also is hardware accelerated for browser and all UI elements, so its kinda a close match. smaller screen, but more pixels, but SGS2 has larger battery and AMOLED, so really its matched up.

I sold my iphone 4 to purchase the galaxy s2, never owned an Android phone before, I posted a post on the forum about rooting methods for the S2. Before I purchased the phone i did research on batter life and I read most users could do a full day or close to 2 days without charged. They said it had a better battery than the iphone 4 this was the decisive factor which lead me to buy the phone. To come to this post and read that the pone battery last only 4 hours for browsing this is childs play. I feel somewhat cheated and deceived.
Has anyone in the forum here achieved the 24 hour battery best while using the phone in full capacity ? How is this acceptable to you guys, 4 hours ? This is unacceptable.

Yes, I too read of the great battery life of this phone - but not on here - but on reviews from the likes of techradar etc. Very deceiving. That said, I can get through a typical day quite easily on a charge, but it's never going to take on the iphone on battery life no matter what they say.
That said, I think (hope) the situation will improve with more mature firmware.
It is a shame, but for me, its not a dealbreaker, especially as I am always near a power source.

most iPhones do not truly multitask, so they do not waste power. it is also a walled garden, with fewer freedoms, and fewer possibilities to mess up admittedly highly tuned and optimized power management scheme. Remember it is one OS on one piece of hardware, with every component tested and tuned to near-perfection.
and yes, if you set your SGS2 browser at 100% brightness, auto-enable Flash (that will waste power on all those moving ads etc that you are not even looking at), turn on music in the background streaming it to your Bluetooth headphones, enable Gmail sync, Exchange sync, Facebook, GVoice, GTalk, Yahoo Mail, Yahoo Chat, AIM, Twitter, etc, and browse (read mostly black text on mostly white backgrounds) for 2-4 hours, your battery will drain.

In respect to your prior post, using your sgs2 surfing with flash OFF, twitter OFF, exchange sync, OFF,Google Voice OFF, BlueTooth OFF, Can you get a full 24 hours usage out of the phone ?

I think the difference may be in scrolling. It doesn't sound like the test included scrolling of web pages - just loading. And I suspect that the super smooth scrolling you get on the SII gives those dual cores a good workout.
According to the review from The Verge, Transformer Prime loses out in battery life to iPad 2 and other competing tablets and is only marginally better than iPad 2 when the keyboard dock is attached.
I find this very disappointing, I did not expect Asus to announce their battery life with the device in its lowest setting, while iPad 2 gets eight hours of battery life in 'normal mode'.
5 hours is very, very low. I expected them to at least match iPad 2, especially when they announced that it will survive for 12 hours.
The Verge review is by far the lowest of any of them. Several report 10+ hours when playing video. Anandtech has 8 hours with an apparent mixed load.
It was advertised as 10:04 on Balanced, the default setting. That review uses Normal, where the two power-hungry cores are always active, instead of shutting off when they aren't needed.
Check out the bolded "NOTE:" where they say they're rerunning the battery test. Engadget said it lost to the iPad 2 by only 9 minutes on Balanced.
EDIT: And, according to the comments, this is without discharging/recharging the battery - battery stats aren't calibrated yet.

No, they cannot test how long battery lasts on the dock alone. The Verge found that it survives 10 hours with the dock.
Balanced mode or not, fact is that iPad 2 is rated being in 'normal' mode for more than eight hours. Prime in normal mode only gets 5 hours. They may advertise their 'balanced' mode, but that is not as good in performance according to the review. In fact, the whole quad-core for tablet is put in doubt, it doesn't make the interface (and browser) faster at all, it only seems to help with games.
I am disappointed.
I'm impressed as this tablet doesn't need to run in normal mode 24/7, meaning 4 cores on all the time. That'll be a waste when balanced mode alone makes it as snappy ,if not more than ipad2. This still has the best battery life of any android tablet I've seen. All sites I've seen that reviewed it are very impressed with battery life. Plus the source you listed isn't as reputable as the main ones churning out the praises on battery life. Instead of just taking that one review and making an assumption, compare all of them. Seems strange that one site out of several giving it negative battery comments. As it's also strange you being disappointed already on an assumption from a sub par tech review site..lmao.
Get an ipad2 then while we blow past ya with the excellent performance and battery life of the prime.

Well, you won't. iPad 2 has a better GPU and does not need a 'balanced mode' to have a battery life as long. iPad 2 gets 8 hours of battery life in their 'normal' mode that only lasts five hours on Prime.
I am still going for Prime, because I'm Android developer and my phone is an Android, but I was hoping that Prime would have battery life longer than devices released six months ago without having to tune down the performance that makes it fast.
Now it is a trade-off.

I think you missed the point of what he was trying to say. The site you are quoting your stats from in regards to battery life was the only one that rated it low in that regards. Let's take engadgets review for instance which on "normal" mode lasted for 10:17 which was 9 minutes shorter than their iPad 2 test. So the idea was if placed in "balanced" mode it would get longer life than its already good life.

iPad 2 gpu has more raw power but not the resources to back it up. There are hardly any ipad2 only optimized games out. Most stuff I can still run on my ipad1. I don't think Asus never claimed 12 hours battery life with 4 cores running at once. I never assumed that either. I see what you are saying though. Just compare the different battery reviews. Plus battery wasn't even truly calibrated yet. So it'll get more than 5 hrs. In normal mode. You have to remember to we talking about apple, the king kong of tech..lol they have the money to be lit years ahead of the game. That's why my ipad1 still performs great for me although it's clearly not the highest spec tablet out now.
The go out in get an ipad2 was just a joke. Android is getting closer and closer to closing the gap on quality and performance with iPad. This Asus Transformer prime is what will start the next wave/revolution of high tech tablets and Android in general. I've been thinking also about those different power modes and display modes of which I would use the most. Seems like the balanced mode does well without noticeable drop in performance since it uses amped up dual core. I would think normal mode only needed for intense gaming or very resource hungry apps. We will see once it comes out. Regardless, this will be a great price of machinery at a lower price entry and higher gb storage than ipad2.
Anand review reports 9 hours and Engadget reports 10 hours battery use....both tablet only..
either the unit the Verge got was faulty..or their battery test was significantly different

Asus implements 3 different settings for the Quadcore, this is from Anandtech.com:
There are three power profiles ASUS and NVIDIA have defined on the Prime: Normal, Balanced and Power Saver. Normal allows the CPU to run at up to 1.4GHz with only a single core active, and 1.3GHz otherwise. Balanced is the default setting and it drops maximum CPU clock to 1.2GHz and favors lower clock/voltage targets on the curve compared to Normal mode. Power Saver caps CPU frequency at 1GHz with 1 - 2 cores active, 760MHz with 3 cores active and 620MHz with 4 cores active. It's unclear what the impact is on GPU clocks/performance.

The mode also determines how the CPU speed scales to meet loads
ie Balanced would be slower to rise to its max 1.2 GHz than Normal

I do not own a single Apple device and recently purchased Galaxy Nexus in my line of Android devices. I am also an Android developer. Just because I am disappointed by the battery life on the so-called 'normal' mode does not mean I am an Apple fanboy.

both anand and engadget reviews were running Normal mode too...and the batter life rivels iPad even without dock..and certainly the best among all android tablets.

But here's an idea: Just get the prime and send it back to where ever you bought if it doesn't please you...

Are we turning into Apple fanboys ourselves!? Seriously, I can be critical about the device, stop acting as if I don't have a right to voice my concerns or share my opinion.
Of course I will check the battery myself once it's released. I simply expected it to perform better in reviews than it has. This is not just because The Verge shows weaker battery life than devices released months ago, but also AnandTech, where the battery apparently lasts less than iPad 2 as well. I keep bringing out iPad 2 not only because it is so widely known, but also because it is the standard other devices are measured against in terms of application speed and UI.
I simply expected it to blow opposition out of the water, but it is only marginally better in some ways. The quad-core also does not enhance Android experience as has been pointed out, it doesn't make the UI and apps slicker unless in really obvious examples, like a game (and iPad 2 is also great in games).
I am also disappointed to hear that some of the integral things, like a browser, is not as fast as one would expect from a quad-core device. The lags in zooming and moving around have been pointed out in reviews.
And it just outright loses against iPad 2 in processing power too.
So it costs as much as an iPad 2, but loses out in both battery life and performance. It is better in some ways, like the camera, but really, it does not blow the opposition out of the water. It will not be the 'best Android tablet' out there for long either.
A friend of mine has received a brand new Lumia a few days back as a gift. This guy happens to be an iOS/Android developer, and he doesn't give a damn about WP7, so he asked me if i wanted to swap my 5 months old GS2 for his Lumia, because he thinks it has no use to him. Sure, i know that this one is a big deal for sure, and that even if i don't like the phone i'll have no problem selling it making some good cash. Anyway what i'm asking you here is how does it feel moving from a top Android to a top WP7 device? Did anyone do that? What's your experience about it?
I already have an Omnia 7 so i know that WP7 is a good OS, but i was wondering basically how good this phone is as a daily driver compared to my GS2.
What will you be using the phone for? Games? Mere surfing and checking Facebook? Work? First thing I noticed when going from Galaxy S (not the 2nd) was that WP7 was way more stable and more importantly, the battery is just a beast, 24h with no charging and still having another 12h on it, despite watching movies for 3h on it.

Well i'm not really a heavy gamer, but i play some game from time to time. My usage is pretty average i guess: browsing every now and then, gmail and twitter syncing, whatsapp, youtube, a movie sometimes but that's rare. Sound quality doesn't really matter because i already have a Cowon, can't beat that anyway Basically i want a reliable and solid phone that won't die at about 3 p.m. every day with my kind of usage.
My network did not have the Nokia Lumia in stock when it came to the end of my contract a few days back, the next best this was the SGS2, I sold S2 online and with the cash bought an unlocked Lumia.
Its a really, really nice phone and is very fast, there are a few bugs (firmware related) and we have been promised by Nokia for an update in the coming weeks. If I were you I would go for it, I did, and havent looked back
I cant say about the SGS bit i switched to the Lumia from iPhone 4 and im not regretting. This Os is better than iOS.

I did this switch my self, SGS2 to Lumia 800, and to be honest, best phone switch I've done. The phone just works and I think, despite the tiny bugs in the firmware it's still among the best phones on the market.
There's plenty of games for WP7 and the native apps other than that work pretty well.
Tho I do miss Opera Mobile/Mini on it.
There should be a thread somewhere (yikes) here that explains weak point and strong points against iOS and Android. For the phone itself it's beautifully made, feels like a real piece of hardware in your hand. It weighs a bit more then expected but hardly an issue unless you have real trouble carrying stuff
The audio quality for me at least is great but I know some people had trouble with it.
The battery life is magnificent, haven't done any real tests but it easily lasts 24h despite heavy usage.
Camera is good but I expected better for going full-out with "Carl Zeiss Optics.."; but it might just be me not having a clue how to point-and-click the damn thing.
I love this lil bugger but Ice Cream Sandwich looks pretty damn sexy as well. I think you won't be disappointed by either phone.

If your not bothered about rooting or the customisation of android then go ahead , wp7 is a much improved version of iOS, just as fast and sleek but with menus and a better looking UI. I have a lumia given to me as a work phone. Not my cup of tea personally , wouldn't dare swap my gnexus for it but has good features as well. Build quality is top notch , decent camera (Carl Zeiss lens) , very nice screen. Down sides , poor customisation apps are slow to use , not the best app choice , no developer support and its a new os. Also because it has the funding of windows and this is one of the most important areas to the company then you know its not going to go web os way , you are going to have a phone with updates and a lot of services. (Nokia maps/music/zune )
My advice is if your looking for a iPhone because you like the way it works (simplicity etc) then the lumia all the way as it works in a similar fashion. If you appreciate the way android works (rooting roms customisation and the actual os) then keep your s2 as it is still easily one of the best phones on the market.
I'd stick with the s2 but if you got a lumia I would doubt you would be dissapointed.

Good choice. My colleague here has the SGSII and gets around 16 hours battery life and has problems with apps crashing and the os lagging/random reboots. No such problems with the Lumia and I get 24 hours with heavy or 36 hours with light use.
I bought a Lumia 800 few days ago but still can't get to 24hrs.. I tried the diagnostics tool and get a 1505 mAh full charge, so I have no battery problems, but still after a few hours of heavy usage the battery dies(90% of times wi-fi is off!!!), tips?
Define heavy usage and define "few hours". I watched movies for 2-3h yesterday and then went to sleep, woke up and fiddled with the camera and checked Facebook regularly until now, 45% battery life remaining. Estimated time remaining: 14 hours. Time since last charge: 13 hours
I have never seen "remaining time 13hrs" ;-) this say's it all!
Now I have 27% with 3hours left.. I never use wifi and i deactivated (i think everywhere) GPS localisation for pictures and stuff like that..
for Heavy usage I mean mail check every 15/30 mins, 5/6 web pages opened per hour and half an hour of games every 8/9 hours with medium brightness... I don't even think that this is "heavy".. with my Nexus S (SLCD) i can get to 40/50hours with no problems and with the SAmoled one I can complete with no problem 1 day (18 to 24hours).. Is there any option that I have to set to get my battery to last enough to go to sleep with still 10/15% left? thanks

Same, my L800 is about a week old now. Battery life so far is not very good and nowhere near the advertised or GSMarena's 35/40 hours.
Right now: 88%, 12 hours remaining, 3 hours since last charge. Rather high battery drain considering low/moderate use. 1529 mAh full charge capacity.
No crazy apps that are always on using data connection except WhatsApp. I don't use twitter, I don't religiously check FB and RSS feeds are on manual refresh since I am in front of PC most of the day. Some calls, whatsapp and a few emails during the day.

Sounds like you have a battery bug of some sort.

I certainly hope it is a bug and the upcoming update fixes the battery issues for all. There appears to be a massive disparity in L800s battery life reports. Some people have the confirmed but where battery doesn't fully charge.
What is your drain rate in Diagnostics? Idle with screen on is between 120-135 mA with occasional spikes into 200+ mA. What is your usage pattern, more or less?
Doing around 185-200 mA idle screen on. Phone syncs to gmail/facebook/calendar, I check it about once a hour, at night I watch movies for like 2-4h and during the day I try out my apps that I developed or other ppl's ones.

Yes, must be some kind of battery bug.
Doing some math (1529 mAh battery as reported by my L800) and battery durations as provided by Nokia and GSM Arena test.

The phone should last an average person 18 hours assuming a typical 8 am - 2 am day ...
45 mins talk (110 mAh drained), 2-4 hours web/SNS (800-1200 mAh drained) and say some music for 2 hours at the gym (50-60 mAh drained) ... that still leaves 10+ hours of idle drain of around 5 mA according to Nokia.
@SvanteH: You phone's battery life is simply exceptional but do you actually get 24+ hours of usage out of it or are you down to below 10% at the end of the day?
I usually charge it every alternate night + some hour usb charging during the day

I'm jealous of your L800's battery life, trumps mine by a large margin.
[UPDATE] Unplugged at 100% charge and it said 14 hours remaining. Sigh.
I guess the title says it all. I'm interested in buying the Z Ultra (unlocked international) but I'm very concerned about the battery.
I HATE having to charge my phone in the middle of the day. If it has to happen once a week that's too often for me. What I currently do with my Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 (which I use as a phone) is I charge it at night when I'm going to sleep. I never have to worry about the charge, even if I am using it constantly all day. If I use the device sparingly I can even stretch it out for two days.
Can this device come even close to that?
Will I have to keep a charger with me at all times?
I can accept a smaller battery than my current amazing performance. What I'm looking for is that most of the time, I can wait to charge my phone until I'm going to bed with average usage. Not constantly checking messages, emails, browser, etc.

The answer is pretty clear. You can't compare the two. 7.7 has nearly 2x battery capacity (5100mAh vs 3000mAh) than ZU. Tab 7.7. It runs on 2 Cortex A9 processer which is slower and use much lesser power than the latest Snapdragon 800 chip.
I can only say battery if the 3G ZU is comparable to Samsung S4 LTE.

It all depends on user. How I use the device will be different from everyone else. But generally speaking you can go to the General Section and check the battery usage stats. Most people can last through a working day (ie leave home with 100% and survive until knock off and reach home).

This is one of my biggest dilemma when I was considering the Z Ultra. To be frank, I hated phones without swappable batteries so I rarely buy such phones.
If you share the same concern, ask yourself if you can do with large powerbanks (I'm personally not really fond of the idea). Personally, if possible, I prefer a swappable battery - just change and ready to go.
If you dislike powerbanks, maybe you should wait for the Samsung Galaxy Note 3.
It's a matter of choice. If you like the phone,buy it. With some tweaks you can make it last a whole day.
I don't think I'll "just buy it". The phone looks beautiful & everything but battery life for me is very important. I have this problem with all phones these days. They can all be made just a tiny bit thicker and have a bigger battery that lasts for a day and a half or two days with a few hours each day of screen time. That way if you use the phone a little too much today, it'll still last till the end of the day.
If you work for Sony you can give them this feedback
All smartphones have this so called 'problem'. The battery just can't handle more than a day with average usage. The only thing remaining is to use apps to hibernate applications,CPU handling and other tweaks,of course,on a rooted phone.

Sorry guys I'm not here to complain!!! I'm just asking about the phone and how it suits my preferences. Great battery life is a requirement for me and others who have posted in this thread. Tweaks might help, but I'm not interested in spending my time fiddling till I get it just right. I've also heard that a lot of Sony devices can have very long standby time which is great, but I also want long usage time.
For now I'll stick to my (admittedly crazy) way of using my tablet as a phone till someone makes a nice large screened phone (6+) with great (not average) battery life. There are smaller phones with great battery life, this however is a new size that I'm interested in (big but not toooo big) but my original requirement remains: great battery life.

Try Huawei Ascend Mate, then. 6.1 inch. Of course, the core hardware of that one is not as shiny as the ZU.

Not a bad choice, HD screen with 2 more A9 cores compared to his 7.7 tab with a whooping 4050mAh battery for a smartphone these days.
Still kinda an upgrade for him

Actually, it's not too bad. I've even used the Note 10.1 before which is a 720p stretched over 10.1'' screen
Honestly it isn't too bad considering the viewing distance (remember PPI alone doesn't mean a thing if you don't take into account of the viewing distance) but once you've been spoilt by FHD screens.. there's no going back

4K TVs are coming out now.. Let's wait for the era of 4K smartphone to emerge... but then 128GB microSD cards will feel like a 3.5" floppy disk in term of capacity

They played Riptide GP 2 for an hour. Have you seen that game? It's not exactly Tetris, so it's understandable that it sucks the life out of the battery. I watched a YouTube review of Riptide, and they said it kills the battery, and the reviewer played it on a different device (can't remember which, but it was either the Note 2, S4, HTC One or the Moto X)
I did a Google search for external power back for an 'Xperia z ', as this mobiles been around for a while.
I found an external battery product for the Xperia z from a company called 'Power Bank', and decided to send them an email enquiry regarding any possibilities that they might do a similar the market product for the 'Xperia z ultra', they replied saying that it is very likely that they will have something in on the market, and to watch their website during the coming months.
So, for anyone who's thinking of getting one, or has one already, there's a good change the battery stamina issue may well get solved.

1. How is it now that there's been time for Samsung to fix early issues
2. Did Android 10 upgrade help?
3. Does it last through a day of heavy use?
4. Snapdragon or Exynos?
More info: I'm considering buying the Note 10 but the original reviews are mixed. Some say battery life is good but most say it's disappointing. It would be to replace an iPhone XS that is 12 months old, battery health is a shocking 84% and the SoT time is less than 3 hours, so I won't be buying any more overpriced junk from Apple. I'm in the UK so would be getting the Exynos unless I take a risk and grey import a Snapdragon, and live without the warranty.
More battery life is *always* better, but I really have no complaints about my Note 10 battery. It lasts all day, every day. I average 5.5 hours SOT, but it would get a lot more if I pushed it below 10% charge. However, I rarely let it drop below 30%, or fully charge to 100%. I try to take it off the charger between 60-80% to preserve long-term battery life. So while 5.5 hours SOT may seem low to other Note users, I am averaging 5.5 hours SOT from only a 50-70% charge, which is pretty damn good imo.
I disabled some apps that I'll never use, but otherwise I don't need to gimp it to make it through the day. I noticed a slight improvement in battery life with Android 10. I don't do much gaming, but I do a lot of web browsing, YouTube, and listen to Google Play Music and Sirius XM, and it has no problems lasting a full day.
I have the Snapdragon model. I don't have any experience with the Exynos model, but if you are in the UK, then I would recommend going with Exynos just for the warranty. There may be some YouTube videos comparing the battery and performance differences, you may want to look for those. I remember a couple of years ago the Exynos models were noticeably worse as far as battery, but I think the latest Exynos chips have closed the gap.
If battery life is a top priority, then you should consider the Note 10+ which has 23% larger battery (4300 vs 3500 mAh).
One last thing to consider: The Galaxy S20 models are right around the corner. I am not trying to talk you out of a Note, but if you can live without the Spen, you might want to wait for the Galaxy S20 Plus and Ultra. The Plus model is supposed to have a 4500 mAh battery, and the Ultra is rumored to have a massive 5000 mAh battery.
Edit: Btw, congrats on graduating from iOS. You'll love the customizability of Android, and now that RCS is available, you won't miss iMessage as much :good:

Thanks for taking the time to reply - appreciate it. Sounds like our usage patterns are similar. I don’t really game but I use web and media on public transport for a couple of hours a day, in poor signal areas so every phone I’ve had struggles.
Am trying to keep phone size down, the Note 10 Plus is definitely too big! I like the fact that with the standard Note 10 it’s almost the same size as my current iPhone XS, just 5mm taller.
Re graduating (haha) I’ve had android before. Before this iPhone I had the OnePlus 5T and really liked it until I changed cars and it completely refused to talk to the audio system.
I found a YouTube video comparing the Qualcomm and Exynos Note 10’s and in his test he got 7 hrs from the Exynos and 8hrs from the Snapdragon. Wow, bit of a difference.
Will see what the S20 (standard size) is like, and then decide whether to risk an imported Note 10 [emoji106]

Correction, the video of the Snapdragon getting another hour of screen time is the S10, not the Note 10, which means the Exynos is the 8nm 9820 rather than the 9825 in the Note.

So i got my Exynos note10 (not a new one, a used one but in a good shape) a week ago running android Q, and the battery drain was a little bit higher than average (compared to what people claiming in the battery section). So i decided to do a fresh reset by flashing a firmware using odin, after that i did some optimizations, disabling features that i dont really need, debloating some apps and waiting for the phone to learn my battery usage pattern (it took me around 4-5 days).So now I can get 7 to 8 hours of SOT using Chrome as my web browser, social media apps, and youtube. So yeah i think the 3500 mah battery is doing a pretty good job.
That’s really good, lots of owners don’t get that out of the Plus model

Then i charged my phone until it get 100%, i use it until it dies and cannot get booted again (when the phone dies keep rebooting it until it cannot get rebooted again). I did the charging and discharging thing twice. I think this step is like calibrating your battery, correct me if I am wrong.
Then thanks to this post : https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-10/how-to/galaxy-note-10-note-10-plus-debloat-t3964225 i debloated Bixby, samsung pass / pay , samsung sticker center... Do this step at your own risk because you can brick your phone if you didnt choose correctly what to debloat.
Then i enabled Adaptive power saving, put unused apps to sleep, Optimise Battery usage and i restricted background activity and i use dark mode all the time.
I disabled Air action and all features related to S pen ( i only use s pen for writing).
You may not notice a big difference in the battery life until your phone learns usage pettern ("Learning pattern" usage becomes "An estimated time" in device care battery's section)
If you are on a rooted phone then you can use greenify to hibernate other apps.
Additional information, my phone battery drains from like 100% to 80% much quicker and then it start to go slower and slower because each battery behaves in a different way.
Took another look at the Note 10 today and think it's an absolutely stunning looking device. Best looking phone around for me. I noted in the Samsung store that they don't offer any sort of satisfaction guarantee, which is disappointing. Would have been tempted to take one if I had some insurance on the battery life not working out.
But the S20 has now launched, and it's impressive from a specs point of view. Time to see how the S20 reviews play out.

Yes, the S20 phones are phenomenal, especially the S20 Ultra. Which means the Note 11/20 will be an absolute beast

You are wrong this is really old battery habits. For several years and actual battery tech it's not recommended to fully discharge , the best way to improve battery life is to stay over 20% and avoid fast charging. That is also not how phone calibrates batteries.

Battery life on the Snapdragon Note 10+ has been great. It stayed consistent with the Android 10 update. I had the Note 8 before this phone, and I'd have to say the 10+ is better.
Indeed the difference is not so abysmal as before

Actually, there is a comparison for Note 10+ Exynos vs Snapdragon and indeed, the difference in battery is now minimal, of course the weak point for the Exynos is still the Mali GPU. So it looks like for power comsuption is now more even between Exynos 9825 and Snapdragon 855 (which is kind of obvious since both are 7nm)

Interesting thanks.
One of the things I’ve been bitten with on iPhones is the effect on battery life of the inferior Intel modems they’ve been using for the last few years. I went from an iPhone SE to an Xs and the difference in signal strength was definitely noticeable, and that will affect power consumption too.
I’m not saying this is the same with the Exynos modem but do tend to think that at this point, Qualcomm modems are the better
