RN2 side buttons gone crazy - Redmi Note 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, I own the RN2 for months now and it worked fine. Until recently my Volume buttons got a mind of their own. out of no reason my phone would raise or lower the volume like a button was pressed. My power button refused working along too a few times. I'm not sure if it's a hardware problem or a software one. It's quite annoying tbh. the problem was there no matter of the case (original white + silicone protector, without protector, aftermarket black + protector, without protector, without any case.... )
Has anyone experience with this problem? Should I order new buttons and change them or?

Buttons Stopped Working

So my buttons seemed to of stopped working some how. I went to put my skinomi protector on and afterwards took it off cause I hated the feel and realized the buttons weren't working. I rebooted into recovery and.... a no go. I'm wondering if the liquid got in to the little slit by the buttons or some thing but I'm really upset. I just applied my carbon fiber skin and got my clip case in and now this. Any suggestions on what to do? I bought this off eBay new any chance warranty can cover?
Ok buttons are slowly starting to work. First it wasn't working, stuck tab in bucket of rice, buttons started working but I had to press hard, now top 3 buttons work and the back button thinks its the home button.
I hope you get the buttons working again, but if not and you are rooted try Button Savior https://market.android.com/details?id=com.smart.swkey
I am using it because I have trouble finding the buttons in the dark and really liking it. They are also easier to reach.
Wow. How much liquid did you use? I assume the rice is to absorb moisture? At work we put wet things in a bell jar and pump the air out. At low pressure the water boils off at room temperature. I assume that's safe for an LCD, but not sure. I would think a local school might have enough vacuum gear to do this and its a good demo to students about the temperature/pressure relationship.

Just pulled it out the bucket and all is well. I'm running CM 7 so I have the buttons on status bar. I guess this is just a warning to be careful when applying a Skinomi Protector

[Q] Broken volume button fix?

the little square plastic cover on the volume up button fell off today, and im wondering where i could buy another piece or how much would it be to get repaired
here is a pic of what the gold plastic square looks like
has anyone else had this problem?
bumpbumpbump
After doing some searching it looks like the power button is part of the housing.
Here is a link to a site that sells the full housing assembly. Best I could come up with hope it helps.
its the volume up button, the plastic thing on top of it.
OMG I looked for like a half hour last night for the "power button" LoL
Don't know what the hell I was thinking you clearly stated volume. I go back through some sites I found last night and see if I can find it.
Sent from my CM7 HTC Aria
Edit
Sorry man no luck could not find it any where.
The volume buttons are part of the main flex.
So if the connector is broken (the little copper thing) you must change the entire flex cable.
My Aria has the same problem, though I'm looking for a way to get at least one of the buttons to work without having to buy a whole new ribbon. Because it's kind of hard to get into recovery mode when the button doesn't work. Tried pressing them with various types of metal, including copper, hoping to maybe get some sort of connection out of it, but to no avail. Any one else have any suggestions?

Hyperion extended battery case

I have a question about the hyperion case for its extended battery. I know that with some work you can get it to work with the mugen 5400 battery and door cover. My biggest issue with it is pressing the power button and the volume buttons. I was wondering if anybody had take an exacto knife and cut out those points on the case. If so, how did it work.
Yes, I did that. It's easier to press afterward, but it's still easier to just use the proximity screen off app to turn the phone on & off with this case on.
I cut mine out too.. even the volume rocker.. I got it a little choppy, but I perfer it this way rather than covered as before.
good luck.

ZTE Blade case power button

Basically, my back cover is fine, but the case power button too much sag in it now and is constantly pressing the actual button down, if I have to I will buy the complete housing from Deal Extreme to get that little part but that seems a bit excessive.
It's that tiny silver case button. Is there anywhere it can be bought seperately or replaced, or repaired?
the button is built into the back cover so you're gonna have to buy the backcover
yeah, the power buttons are known to be rubbish on blades.

Anyone able to take screenshot with their nexus carbon case on the phone the one on t

I bought the carbon color nexus 6P case but not able to take screenshot shot with the case on the phone, i have no problem with my spigen case what soever.
You can do it but you need to hit the very very bottom of the volume rocker. The reason is that the case is tight and they seemed to use a rocker rather than two buttons for the volume. So it's easy to hit the bottom button and activate the top as the plastic on the side stretches down. It's tricky but doable.
i try it i got it once, its a hit or miss wish it wasn't so difficult
Yea, I was having issues too - but holding the far ends of both buttons let me get it pretty repeatedly.
