Ear buds for Verizon b10 - LG V10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've seen reviews advertise that the v10 comes with ear buds but my unit didn't come with any. Is this just for Verizon or non US models?

Mine (T-Mobile version) does not.

seems to be that they are in the box for Korean and HK variants (Korean sets are what most of the reviewers showed)

Ok, just making sure Verizon wasn't holding them hostage ...hahaha!

ZTE has stopped selling the Axon 7 on ebay!

http://www.ebay.com/sch/zteusainc/m...e=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2562
They still sell it on the regular website and Best Buy and New Egg are still selling them on ebay. But this is very interesting that they have stopped selling it on ebay.
If they don't have any stock, how would they be running anything on eBay? I don't think ebay lets you run pre-orders and such. I'd bet it will come back up when stock arrive shortly.
It's no about stock actually.
They don't want non-US users to get the chance to buy the US model outside of the US. Which you were able to using eBay.
I was told by BHPhoto that they are restricted by ZTE to sell the device to non-US customers.
The US version is the better one compared to the international model.
Lucky me I have a buddy in NY area who got the newegg pre-order of the grey version and will forward it to me. I'm in Europe and have tested the A2017G. Sent it back as I'm waiting for the A2017U (US Model).
how is that the U model is better then G?

Could you please detail why G version would be worse than U. It is same hardware and only modem is different but modem behaves better in G as read comments anywhere? What do you expect from U? If you have software issues I am sure that if any is fixed in one of two it will be sorted out on other one too.

Actually only a few points that tipped it over for me in favor for the U version.
A: Better Software support from ZTE USA.
B: The U version has VoLTE which is supported in ROM/Baseband. The G version does not and never will. (Not supported in the modem firmware).
C: U version allows you to enter EDL mode (Qualcomms Emergency Download Mode). I need this as I'm a dev. The G version can only enter DFU mode.
D: All the band's that are required in my Euro country and in the US are supported. I travel to friends in the US and don't want to have to switch phones.
E: With the newegg pre-order you were given free headphones for around 200$. After customs it will be the same price as the G version in euros but with additional free high quality headphones.
F: My buddy tested the phone for "bad signal reception" and other faults/defects I mentioned to look out for. For over a week before sending the device over. Else I would have told him to send it back.
He is using an OP3 and even compared them as a daily driver. He said it's on par with the OP3. He even said the Axon7 is like "stuck on 4G" while his OP3 loses 4G occasionally and gets 3G only.
He is an experienced IT tech. I trust his judgement.
He is even thinking about selling his OP3 and to grab an Axon7 as soon as CM is done.

The G model has a lower volume cap, possibly due to EU regulations, while the U model has a much higher cap. The G model also seems to have more issues with bootloader unlocking, while the U model is pretty straight forward.

Thanks for the details. You see it from developer point of view mainly as I see.
A) I don't know. May be but as I see much less G related problem was reported than U.
B) May be but Volte is not as wide spreaded in EU as in US. as far as I know. Otherwise It looks that workaroud (if not the final solution) for signal issue of US model is turning Volte off, so you can get in same boat easily.
C) I don't know how important it is for avaradge users. Orherwise it is also software fearure if I understand it well.
D) You are lucky. Not eveeybody can say that US bands cover of his/her country exactly.
E) Just because of this fact US version is not better. It is only cheaper.
F) It is strange because mostly US users complain for signal reception. I haven't had any issue with. G. It works perfectly and expectedly in big city as well as low signal country area. As I mentioned earlier it looks that workaroud (if not the final solution) for signal issue of US model is turning Volte off.
Also I read that overwriting field APN manually can solve few cell issues. I did it due to orher reason and I don't have any issue.
So after all you didn't mentioned anything why U would be better for users except Volte. It is just your taste and chance to get it cheaper.

That's why I said it's only a few points for _me_ and not for _all_ users.
And as I have a chance to get all those pros for the same price in the end it is a no brainer.
Also I do not believe that the antenna is so much different to the G model. It is more likely that a few batches had a bad antenna build-in and when ZTE realized that, due to complains, new batches after the affected one's were sent off, were all build with a better antenna in place.
The Chinese and US Models were on the first batches. The international ones were produced later. Look into Chinese forums complaining about reception problems.
Unfortunate it is how the greedy corporate industry world works today. Sell those affected phones until enough users complain. If they complain, offer an exchange. If they don't they made profit.
Just look at the Samsung Note 7 disaster. Same **** is happening there.
Not to mention Samsungs Panel Lottery for their TV which has been going on for a decade.
I worked for Huawei Europe HQ and could write a book about how corporations do their quality check behind the doors. Just saying I'm never gone touch a Huawei phone because of what I know.
(Don't ask I signed an nondisclosure agreement.)
In the end it's on you to decide if you want to keep the phone or not. Or if you want to pay 399$ with more pros or 449euro for more cons.
Isn't the chinese A2017 model better than the rest? I mean... like, you know... 6gb RAM vs 4gb... 128gb internal vs 64... and you can use all the U unlocks/tools w/ no issue?
Seems that many of you forget that having US version in Europe you are out of warranty.
To many customers warranty is very important to them.
Also EU has 3 years warranty policy while US 2 years.
I'm having a month now both gold and gray G version and no reception /WiFi issue at all.
Compared to my S7 Edge the call reception is the same level and WiFi is better.
Also G version will have in coming weeks official root and boot loader unlocked from ZTE without loosing the warranty.
Even that US version is getting first the official software updates it's just matter of time(less than 1 month) until G version also received the software update for the specific region(Europe)

Just curious does the u model comes from the ZTE USA down in texas? I presumed warranty is by them as well?

You could be right. That's how the world works. You also are not enemy of your money as well as no one else.
Regarding the price I would say that EU price contains the average 21% EU VAT. So it means that price of EU version would be between $410 or 415 in US. So it is not a big deal. Also I think that EU citizens should pay duty if they import from US but it is already off topic.

They do. Just not on specific electronics like Notebooks, Computer Hardware, Cell phones etc
Oddly enough, amazon has also stopped selling the phone. I guess it could just be sold out though.
Hm, still "in stock" at amazon.com:
https://www.amazon.com/ZTE-Axon-unl...TF8&qid=1476347129&sr=8-3&keywords=zte+axon+7
Amazon.com has gold for $399.98, but the grey (which is what I want...) is $479.00. What gives???

Are they releasing the V30 in Europe?

Haven't seen any definitive confirmation of this? All I've seen is regarding the South Korean launch.
My guess is yes. In fact, I hear it will be released in the UK (exclusive to one carrier) and Germany. No sure about other countries. But since it was unveiled in Barcelona, I take that as a good sign that it will be released there.
No need to guess, there have been definite statements.
LG's UK site is showing that the UK will get the Blue and Silver colour options. Price and release date TBC.
Carphone Warehouse have confirmed to have it.

Oh, come on. OnePlus can't even figure how to get to 1440p AMOLED or Qi wireless charging.
When OnePlus decided to make a real top tier phone let me know. ZTE with their 2016 Axon 7 and upcoming 2017Axon 9 is what OnePlus pretends to be, a real contender.
Everyone knows 2017 is the Year of the Zero Bezel Phone. Even Apple knows that! And OnePlus released an iterative update when they needed something more radical. Something like the LG G6, Samsung Galaxy S 8/8+, LG V30, Samsung Note 8.
Even Apple is going zero bezel, more than 1080p with AMOLED, and adding Qi wireless charging!
ZTE will be announcing something similar in October, but with stereo speakers. And probably will be budget priced like the ZTE AXON 7.
The LG V30 will probably be my next phone, and I've already bought cases for it. But I am curious about the ZTE AXON 9...
OnePlus could have done the same thing, but they blew it. Same old same old. They easily could have released a zero bezel, 1440p AMOLED phone to beat Apple iPhone 8 or X, or whatever they're calling it. They easily could have added Qi wireless charging. Instead they released 5.5" 1080p slab with huge bezels that looks like last year's iPhone 7.

Except the camera might not work as good as stock. At least this is the case with Samsung phones and LOS... And that would be a real shame because so far it looks like v30 has a superb camera for movie clips and that's the only reason I consider buying v30.

yeah!
i was at IFA this year and i held it in my hands and it was f***ing awesome. i wanted to buy it since end of august.
in the meantime i smashed my sgs7e to pieces and i need a new phone even more. and i also wanted to wait for the new pixel to be presented and also looked at the op5/T also maybe the huawei mate 10
but in my opinion the v30 has the most complete package. in the pixel 2 you dont get dual cams no wireless charging and no headphone jack.
i think only dual front facing speakers and the pure vanilla android software do not justify the price.

For me the more important thing are dimension and fingerprint position, in v30 these are perfect, S8+ is way to big and the fingerprint is in a weird position, but it costs 250 Euros less :silly:

Advice on earphones or earbuds for LG V30 ? Budget £50-£100.

At the moment I have Pixel and some HTC earbuds that I use to listen to music. It might be the first LG devise I am going to get and one of the reasons is audio. So basically I want to ask you guys who appreciates better audio on they devices , if there is anything decent I could get between £50-£100 so I can gain benefits of LG V30 Dac? Thanks

With the V30, LG continues its close partnership with B&O PLAY. B&O PLAY refined the audio capabilities in the V30 by fine-tuning the overall sound experience and adding its own exclusive touch. A set of high quality B&O PLAY earphones comes bundled with the V30 for hours of listening pleasure with style.
“For most people, listening to the music they love is a fundamental part of their lives and they expect the same uncompromised experience and quality from their headphones as they do from the mobile device they source music from,” said John Mollanger, CEO of B&O PLAY. “That’s why B&O PLAY is very excited for our long-term partnership with LG and satisfying global music lovers world over.”

Yes, will be included worldwide.
No, I don't know the release date. All I can do is extrapolate the LG G6 timeline for U.S. And even that might not be the same for the LG V30...
40 days after the initial press conference, the LG G6 went on sale in the U.S. in carrier stores. For the LG V30 that would be October 10.
35 days after that (5 weeks), then the carrier unlocked versions were released in Europe and U.S. For the LG V30 that would be November 14.
Europe will be in there somewhere!
Even if the earbuds are included with the phone in all markets (something I won't believe until I actually see it happen), they won't make full use of the complete potential of the sound system built into the phone. I ended up picking up a pair of Sennheiser HD558's for less than $100. They trip the high impedance mode and sound great. I have the B&O headphones given out with the V20 last year and they're ok but not on the same level as the bigger cans. The plug for the B&O's was coated with something that allowed them to trigger the high impedance mode the first few times but that wore off and soon you were just left with regular mode. I'd assume as much for these being shown packaged with the V30.

Never mind, found it. Very strange.
Well, the same problem happened with Xperia's a couple years back in Turkey. They were supposed to be bundled with a great pair of noise cancelling earphones. Those "global" earphones were then removed most of the boxes sold here in Turkey to bring down the absurd price due to sh*tty currency ratios. "Original" phones started being sold about a month or two later, with double the earphones retail value added on top of the phone. So there is a big chance some regions won't get those earphones even though LG said global.
And with all respect, why turn this into a "whats in the box" topic? (I'm sure it wasn't intentional) I'm sure the earphones that are supposed to come out of the box are great, and they're tuned for this phone specifically but I'd love to hear some alternatives. I've loved audio through all my teen years, and most of my 20's, but I just can't keep up with all the new models anymore. Not enough time with all the responsibilities.
So I'd love to hear about some alternative earbuds if anyone has some. Maybe some cans for a comfy long distance journey where size doesn't matter (see what I did there?)
I vote beyerdynamic dt 770 for closeback

Blame T-Mobile. Sprint version has them. And a free Google VR headset.

No, he doesn't say that. You are mis-reading what he is saying.
He clearly says what's included in the deal:
LG V30+ with 128GB internal storage (compared to only 64GB on AT&T, Verizon, T-mobile)
2-for-1 offer (BOGO)
Google VR goggles
Bang & Olufsen earbuds (EDIT: I was wrong about this. He says "LG quad play" earbuds, not B&O-branded earbuds. BUT, he DOES say earbuds are in the box! And Sprint agrees, see press release link below.)
He says these earbuds are allegedly specifically tuned/optimized for the LG V30, but as he hasn't received a final unit yet, he's unsure how good they will be or the VALUE. The whole point of the article is the VALUE of what people are getting for their money -- how Sprint is DESPERATE to attract customers. He's not debating whether there will be earbuds or not.
His comment about the "standard" V30 box vs. the V30+ means the B&O earbuds might only be part of the PLUS of the V30+ package. Maybe only earbuds come with V30+? That's really his question. He's NOT questioning whether earbuds will or will not come with Sprint's V30+.
Note how he uses the word "standard" earlier in the article to mean the base LG V30 (64GB):
Digging into what makes the V30 Plus unique, it isn’t a “plus” in the same sense as, say, the iPhone 8 Plus. It’s actually no bigger than the standard LG V30, which also features a six-inch AMOLED display.
What is different is the internal storage, which is doubled to 128GB, as well as the fact that LG is tossing in a set of its LG Quad Play wired headphones that are supposedly suited to take advantage of the Quad DAC built into the phone.
Click to collapse
So in his conclusion, here are his questions:
Are the earbuds really any good, have they been optimized for the phone as promised?
Will they also come with the "standard" LG V30 or only with the LG V30+? Because LG seemed to promise all LG v30 would get these earbuds.
That's what he's saying. Yeah, he could have written it more clearly but these writers write, post and move on.
He wouldn't clearly say what WILL be included with the Sprint LG v30+, then turn around and say he does NOT KNOW what will be included. Go read it again.
What I also find interesting is he almost plainly states Sprint will NOT be the exclusive provider of the LG V30+. Only exclusive "at launch". I really hope the US998 (to be released sometime in November) comes in LG V30+ (128GB) configuration. Or will be available to buy at that configuration.

We know they will be included with Sprint LG V30+ because he clearly wrote they would be.
But also, GO READ SPRINT'S PRESS RELEASE:
http://newsroom.sprint.com/lg-v30-a...e-get-one-on-us-just-38-per-month-for-two.htm
Sprint’s LG V30+ is the only V30 model that comes with LG QuadPlay earbuds included in the box.

So, that's disappointing in that LG seemed to promise all LG V30 would have it, but they did the same thing with Qi wireless charging, quad DAC and 64GB storage for the LG G6. They need to stop that nonsense. Even though they said the LG G6 had all those features, you could not buy an LG G6 that had ALL those features. They regionalized the specs.
Seems in the U.S. only the LG V30+ will have the earbuds? Or possibly even only Sprint's LG V30+?

I have contacted Carphonewarehouse the other day and they could not confirm it will be B&O earbuds but some at least will. That's what in the box:

Which if you read the article there was no question earbuds would be included in the Sprint LG V30+. When he said not everything was know about the "final unit" you took that out of context. He was referring to the "standard" LG V30 (64GB) the other carriers are selling, not Sprint's LG V30+ (128GB).
Digging into what makes the V30 Plus unique, it isn’t a “plus” in the same sense as, say, the iPhone 8 Plus. It’s actually no bigger than the standard LG V30, which also features a six-inch AMOLED display.

He used that word "standard" model in the article previously to differentiate between the 64GB LG V30 and the LG V30+. We would normally say "base" model here in the U.S. But I understood what he meant. He used the word at least twice in the article.
I am not commenting in any way on your understanding of English, so please don't say I am. I said you mis-read the article because really there was no confusion. He clearly said there would be earbuds with Sprint's LG V30+. You apparently mis-read the article and tried to say he didn't say that or left some doubt.
Sprint's press release, which I found after I initially posted, confirmed everything I said.
You are now trying to make it seem you were questioning B&O earbuds vs "quad play" earbuds, but you didn't specify that you just said "earbuds".
I admitted to another poster LG apparently is misleading people by making them think ALL LG V30 (not just the LG V30+) will have earbuds, and now we know that to not be true. I believed LG's press release, but I have no reason not to believe Sprint's press release about earbuds.
@ChazzMatt Its over , forget my post that triggered you in the first place I told you I got it all right. Do you really understand what is it all about? Does anyone know when the V30 may be available from Amazon (Verizon Version)? Thanks.
Also - any other recommendations for where to purchase the Verizon V30 from - looking for a vendor who has a longer return policy in case I don't care for the phone.
Thanks.

The V30 is what the G6 SHOULD have been. Better CPU, and ALL the specs: more storage, Quad DAC, Qi wireless charging -- which LG only put in a few G6 and there was no model that had it all. They did make a G6+, but only the South Korea G6+ had all the specs, but it still had the Snapdragon 821.
With the Snapdragon 835 you have must faster CPU and gigabit modem speeds.

#1. the g6 for me feels better in hand, I've got average sized hands and for a 5'8 guy. it's not that the phones huge or my hands are donald trump small.
but I really like the security and the solidity of the build of the g6. the 100% flat screen and the thicker sides. I'm very outdoorsy person and I really don't want to risk dropping or breaking my phone when reaching for it to take photos. I love the camera, the speed, the PLED screen. the v30 is amazing basically everything about it beats the g6. The camera software, the bluetooth music quality. IDC about the Q-dac truly. I use 64gb Sd card anyhow so the v30 being 64gb internal over the 32gb of the g6 is not a big deal.
But think about it would I rather have a "better" phone as a daily driver that I'm constantly worrying about dropping or breaking or a SOLID 100% great phone that I have no worries over and also the
v30 is seemingly a SOB to get a nice GLASS screen protector for. I've ordered 5 from amazon and shall see which ones work with cases without being too small to fit the full screen. I hate the ones with gaps on the side. There's no issues at all with the v30 100% great phone 2017 flagship. the g6 is a great phone but a year late truly .but I'm okay with that. I'd rather not have a great phone that I possibly break vs a really good phone that i've got no issues with.

LG V30+

I was wondering if the lg v30+ comes with the same headphones as the international version
Mine came with the premium headphones from Bang and Olufson or however u spell it lol. They are branded "LG" tho. I've been using them the last 2 days while working and they are AMAZING. B&O headphones look like these in the LG v30 presentation ( s.attachment): different earpiece shape, different jack (straight and not angled) and different kind of cable.
LG QuadBeat 3 sound everything but amazing.

LG made a very big deal about how every LG V30 would come with B&O premium headphones.

Note in the press release they said "V30" -- not just V30+ -- and note the word "global" in the statement. So, they were saying or very strongly implying every V30 all over the world would receive a pair of B&O headphones.
They issued this statement via world wide press release as well as on their general worldwide LG.com website -- not their country specific South Korea website. (lge.co.kr/) Yet, turns out the B&O headphones in "every V30 box" so far were in South Korea, LG's home country.
LG Canada said they couldn't do it because of "licensing" issues. This is why over here in North America at least the phones don't even have B&O logos on the back (like the picture above). B&O already has exclusive licensing for other products in North America. So, over here, no LG V30 is getting B&O earbuds in the box, and only the LG V30+ has headphones. (I guess part of the "plus" experience? More storage and quad DAC earbuds.) The LG V30+ headphones are not B&O branded, they are quad DAC earbuds by LG -- which audiophiles say are not as good as B&O-branded earbuds. Still probably better than Dollar Store earbuds, you know?
But quite different from "every LG V30 across the world gets a pair of B&O earbuds" -- which was the story LG was telling back in August. I was one who believed LG. They should know about licensing issues BEFORE making such an announcement or they should say "in select countries". It's the same thing they did with the LG G6, just not as bad. They leaked "quad DAC", "64GB storage", "Qi wireless charging" -- then regionalized the specs so you could not buy an LG G6 with all those specifications.
I've now bought a pair of premium high impedance earbuds* to use with my LG V30, which will be coming in December sometime (official carrier unlocked US998), but it makes me feel wary towards LG. This is twice this year (LG G6, now LG V30), where they've promised something they didn't deliver.

I am blown away. The 1More Triple driver didn't just perform well over the course of our review, the absolutely decimated most of the competition in the sub $100 price point and remains competitive up to $200. It's a unique sounding earphone for this price point with lots of detail, clarity and a faily balanced yet smooth signature.
The Shure SE215 are one of my go-to recommendations at this price point and that still stands if you want a more bass heavy emphasis but side by side they couldn't be more different. The 1More Triple driver is full of energy and can really push the speed when needed to. They almost make the SE215 seem laggy by comparison.

Oh! I had just assumed the B&O thing was just for S. Korea. It's a shame we didn't get them. I wouldn't have been able to use them either. I can't wear headphones in my ears comfortably. I can barely stand the over the ear ones either.
It's so weird but the only type I like are the ones that go behind the ear.

No release in the german speaking countrys sadly. I'm considering importing it from Italy ...
LG v30+ for official carrier unlocked versions H930 and US998?
LG v30+ for official carrier unlocked versions H930 and US998?
Here's what I don't understand about the availability of the LG V30+ and colors of either the LG V30/LG V30+.
For the carriers -- OK, especially U.S. carriers -- LG is saying that the colors and models (V30, V30+) are chosen by the carriers, thus lack of the Moroccan Blue in the U.S. for instance. And the two SMALLEST carriers in the U.S. (Sprint and U.S. Cellular) got the V30+ while the three largest carriers (Verizon, AT&T, T-mobile) did not. VERY STRANGE.
But LG says that's the CARRIERS' choice, and the carriers say NO, that's what LG is offering them. Especially the colors.
Well, here's where it hits the fan...
LG is the ONLY entity choosing what phones they sell as "open market" phones, a.k.a. official carrier unlocked phones -- the phones eligible for official bootloader unlock.
Where's the V30+?
Where's all the colors?
The official carrier unlocked US998 (not sold by any carriers, NOT the U.S. Cellular version) is ONLY silver so far -- and ONLY V30 (64GB configuration). At least that's all that B&H Photo is showing on their website as of October 29, 2017.
Where's the 128GB LG V30+ US998, and in Moroccan Blue?
Or even the LG V30+ for US998 in Black? We see that U.S. Cellular is selling their US998 (not eligible for bootloader unlock) in LG V30+ in both Silver and Black, so we know the BLACK LG V30+ US998 EXISTS. Why won't LG sell it to us?
(Since I want bootloader unlock and root, I will only be buying the official carrier unlocked versions, not the U.S. Cellular carrier version which regrettably shares the same model number.)
Actually, for BOTH the official carrier unlocked versions H930 and US998? Where's the V30+ and all the color choices?
Europe H930 is getting Moroccan Blue in regular LG V30 (64GB) configuration -- but North American US998 is not even getting that. But where's the LG V30+ for the H930 carrier unlocked version?
It's almost like LG doesn't want our money!

Europe H930 is getting Moroccan Blue in 64GB configuration -- but North American US998 is not even getting that. But where's the LG V30+ for the H930 carrier unlocked version?
It's almost like LG doesn't want our money!

I don't get it what lg is doing with there releases. It could have been so easy. The phone was announced 2 month ago and nobody knows exactly what is coming in which configuration.
They could have just released the same variants worldwide. With carriers choosing to lock the bootloader.
They are just about to fail another phone launch. Most people will buy another phone that's actually available because the v30 is not or they have no idea when it will launch.
I hate that. I wanted that phone so badly but I already have the Huawei mate 10 preorder in my amazon basket.
If it's not going to be released before the mate 10 it will be that phone.
