Anybody know when will Z5C update to Android 6.0? - Xperia Z5 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

5.11 have a bug of power consumption.

If i recall right it took almost 6 months from sony to update z1 from kitkat to lollipop from a lollipops release day. And there is no quarantee that marshmellow will give you better battery life.

i heard "M" fixed the bug...

What bug you are referring to? There was memory leak at 5.0, but should be fixed already.

Network standby costs a high percentage of the battery, find some solution that need to modify the adb to fix it, it is very complex.

The z3c was updated in March.

End of December if you ask me. Telstra will give the z4 tab update in january so it is safe to say that we will get it in December

I'm betting on a January release timeframe but this is not based on any source. We do know that they're already testing Marshmellow on Z3 and Z3c models in limited beta so at least we know they've already started.

How does Telstra (Australia) have anything to do with the general Z5C Marshmallow ETA, unless they are your Telco?
The other 99.9% of Z5C users will have zero interest in when Telstra decide to "give" an update anything.
Hopefully non branded Marshmallow will arrive prior to the end of the year.

Bruh. Branded firmwares get the update AFTER the unbranded ones usually. So that's what I meant. So Telstra giving an update does matter

Come on...
He shared that information to estimate a possibility range for the Z5C.
If a carrier is going to release 6.0 in January for another Sony device, You could assume that the OTA for the Z5C/Z5, current flagships, (in general) will be before January.
Sent from my E5823

Sorry, Being a bit harsh. I wouldn't rely on a Telstra estimate thats all. If the Sony OTA is delayed, Telstra will simply kick the ball down the road.

Yes that's also true. Since the carriers doesn't have the final word for an update.

LG G2 United Arab Emirates

when is kitkat upgrade coming for LG G2 here in united arab emirates?
price of LG G2 is going down here in UAE and an upgrade to KK would at least make the early buyers happy
I believe in January they said on there twitter it will be coming out next month (February). We are now in March.
please see the attached
This was what i received from LG when i asked them the same question. I don't understand why on earth they take this long to push this update just putting this ota on their server. It's really frustrating. The reason i abandoned Nokia is repeating. Please update me if you get any good news on or before the date on the attached.
yah i know its kinda frustating when other countries started receiving kitkat OTA updates...while here in united arab emirates, there is no clue even the stores and LG sites dont even know themselves when it will come...
to add more, the price of LG G2 has gone down by more than $100 in just 2 months....while S4, Note 3 and even HTC One prices has remain stable....
come on LG make us happy by giving us KK
if the updates begin to roll out keep the grup inforned
Well noted.
but I think no posting will be required. everyone has his finger on 'check now for update' button.
honestly, I check for this update minimum 10 times a day.

An update was released today for my UAE D802, it's D80210F, any idea what's the changelog? I'm on D80210E!
We're still getting JellyBean updates while other ppl are getting KK. But anyways KitKat have an audio bug which I'd rather stay away from.

Kitkat when will it happen???? LG wake up...
All over the World Kit Kat released by LG, But Middle East countries still waiting for update. So LG plz tell us how much we wait for update.
Kitkat update started rolling out in UAE
I got kitkat update for my G2 yesterday. The download size was around 550mb.. And i must warn you, i have some issues with the soft keys now. When using some apps the soft keys cover a little portion of the app too.. I think even while watching youtube the keys dont go away!!
Other than that evrything else is fine. When i updated my s4 to kitkat i got about 300mb of ram freed up. But thats not the case in G2. The RAM usage is still the same as jellybean.
The positives are, camera focus seems to be better, the knockon is much more responsive and the notification bar is transparent. So overall good update except for the soft keys.
Lemme knw if anyone else got it.. Cheers!!

Lack of Lollipop speculation

Could it be that verizon got so hammered from the issues surrounding the S5 update they are holding off on ours till they know its good
Not likely. I see Lollipop updates are released for other phones even the Galaxy S4.
I see people posting about how they're ready to give up on this phone because of the lack of update for one important feature. TBH, I don't blame them since I blame this entirely on Verizon. Serious lack of support here, and they couldn't even shoot a minor update for VoLTE. I'm just enjoying what I can with my phone and I'm on a two year contract anyway. If I were given the choice, I'd be grabbing the Z3 or Note 4 instead just because of more options. Until then, I do solidly hope there's something we can look forward to for just an update since it's already May now.
Exactly, figured today would be some sort of update since it's may the 1st and Friday which typically good things are always on Friday, lol. Just extremely annoyed when I need to look something up when I'm on the phone and can't.

It's funny how terribly unreliable Verizon's own network info is to their own employees. First it's claimed we'll have VoLTE for Q1 2015, and we're in the middle of Q2. And all Verizon can say is subscribe to so-and-so link to receive updates.
Still no known info...
Now you see why "root" is so important, had we had root by now we would have a custom ROM of Lollipop at least.
Verizon always sucks when it comes to stepchildren phones (top tier phone but not of the brand Verizon wishes to push).
VoLTE will be just like all of Verizon's brilliant ideas, buggy, uses more bandwidth and works far worse than analog ever did, and no one actually asked for it.
Bombard Verizon with request until VZW gets tired of it, scream loud and scream long, only way VZW seems to listen. :good:
Yup I've been Facebook messaging Verizon every day about advanced calling. Just to bug them
so the tmobile version just received lollipop and again still no words from verizon and even the international xperia z received lollipop now. wtf!???

No they wouldn't have been able to port another lollipop rom over just because you have root. Normally this is all you need for most devices but with the Z3, devs need the update to be released first before they can make roms for it.
The T-Mobile Z3 has been rooted for about a month and still has not seen one custom stock rom. Reason being lollipop hadn't been released yet by T-Mobile

Like your optimism, thought I had read that when lollipop is rooted it needs a unlocked bootloader (Zygote was a temporary solution) cause you have to be able to flash a custom kernel to gain root, our phone's need an unlocked bootloader or we will be back in the same situation again, besides makes more sense to have an unlocked bootloader.

Pretty sure we just need a pre-rooted ftf. That is the way it worked with my Z2. As long as you have root and recovery you can flash the prerooted ftf without unlocking the bootloader.

It does sound possible from all the threads about the pre-root tool by zxz0O0.

Thought: why was there a root bounty when this was available?

Read the first paragraph of the PRF Creator thread
"What is a pre-rooted firmware
A pre-rooted firmware is a firmware, which already includes root. This is for example important if you want to update the firmware to a version, where there is no public root exploit. To flash a pre-rooted firmware, you need a recovery menu. An unlocked bootloader is not required."
Root is required to install the locked dual recovery, hence you need to be rooted already.
Hm, just a small say here. I flashed back to the shipped firmware that our phones came with from last year (still rooted), and I'm seeing for sure the battery doesn't die as quickly as the current firmware that's out today. What I'm trying to say here is, I hope Lollipop is designed for better battery efficiency for our phones that does have it achieve a 2-day battery life sort of deal. I don't know exactly what it is that the current firmware is making our phone die faster, but I hope Verizon does some right in it.
Plus, this is already halfway through June. Total bullcrap nonetheless about the lack of update anyhow.

I felt the same way. So I did a factory reset from stock recovery, set everything up again but left it on the .44 update. The only xposed module I am using is gravity box and I disabled sync for google calendar and changed exchange sync to every hour rather than push. I'm using stamina mode with Extended Stand by, Extended Usage and Stamina Clock enabled. I sync a few google items and my outlook email. Location services are normally disabled. I've barely used my phone the past couple of days so this speaks more to what I am getting with it in stand by but I've been off the charger for 52 hours and 35 minutes and am at 52% battery remaining. My standby drain is ~.5% per hour. Which is pretty good.
edit: I'm on a moderate LTE signal most of the time, and used wi-fi for a few hours.

android m is coming to Alpha

So today I read that the galaxy alpha is on Samsungs short to list, for receiving the android m update. Great news I guess, for alpha owners. I thought that support for alpha also was discontinued, with the decision to stop distributing alpha phones. Perhaps they mean a3/5/7 as in galaxy alpha series, I'm not sure.
Source

A series has nothing to do with the Alpha.
I'm not surprised we will get the android M, I would be furious if we DON'T get android M!
The alpha is an almost flagship, it's introductionprice was high enough so it deserves at least 18months of updates.

Looks like the rollout of lollipop has stopped. the last firmware released, is already a few weeks ago. (maybe because of bugs/issues?)

I'll bet my soul the Alpha won't see M before Summer next year, it one of the forgotten phones from Samsung along with the Note 4 that now only just getting 5.1.1.

Wife's H870 updated yesterday evening. I updated mine manually a few hours before using LG Bridge (I was on Fulmics 4.2, so it didn't want to OTA itself).

After almost a month's worth of use, I'm not noticing any difference in performance. Admittedly I'm still running the ROM with as many different things disabled/restricted due to the battery drain issue I had running Nougat. I'll have to see about performing a factory reset and see how well it performs.
Will keep you posted

A few other things, but so far, so good.
Beware the update posted in Asus's website is for Japan SKUs of the phone.
Did you get an OTA update on a different region or are you using a JPN ZF9?
I got OTA for phone in UK
Cant wait for it to be available from their website, i was so stupid because i unlocked the bootloader in an attempt on custom Roms. Didnt go as planned so i just reverted to stock rom, however now i dont get OTA updates..
Hoping they fixed the Bluetooth issue were the phones battery would get EATEN by "others" in the battery usage graph.

It must have been a typo, because the date of the firmware didn't change (31/3).
I was checking it for days and it was for JPN only and today they changed it to all regions.
Happy flashing everyone!
I think this one came out a few days ago, but good to see ASUS is patching faster than Google for April
