Zenwatch 2 Canno't "read" content of text messages - Asus ZenWatch 2

I get a notification that a text has been received on my watch - but neither a swipe up or anything else for that matter allows me to read the content of the messages(s) - Kinda useless. My only options are Block App, discard...I am using an LG G4 with the stock messaging app. I have tried Hangouts but a lot of my contacts use iPhones - So that's not an option - I need something seamless and easy to use.
Ideas? Steps I can follow to set this up correctly?

Try using Hangouts as your default SMS. When you said "but a lot of my contacts use iPhones - So that's not an option" sounds like you didn't enable SMS as default in Hangouts. I don't know why your phone would care that you're texting an iPhone if you're just sending SMS.

How to use hangouts for messages: https://support.google.com/hangouts/answer/6013419?hl=en
But if you don't like hangouts, you can still use the old messenger app: https://support.google.com/hangouts/answer/6013419?hl=en

Thanks...

basically... just use a different Messaging App. I've used a few. I currently use YAATA but Texta and several others have Android Wear support.

[q] I.M. with notification on contact logins

I'm curious to know what instant messengers other people are using.
Currently I'm using trillian, and I like it, however I'd like the option to get a notification when certain contacts login (but not every contact). Is there any app that does this?
It would also be usefull if it supported multiple protocols, I'd rather not have multiple i.m. apps running at once.
tried IM+....only other multi client I know of with a decent gui...not sure about individual alerts based on contact
Should try talk.to. Amazingly simple UI and works really well.
https://market.android.com/details?id=to.talk
I forgot to mention, I need to use a messenger that works over data and not sms since I don't have a messaging plan. also I read this comment under the talk.to comments section "Changing the status of all my accounts to a Talk.to promotion without asking is completely unacceptable, and a shame because the app works great."

[Q] SMS Popup

I have been using "SMS popup" on my android phones for years now. Never had a problem until I installed it on this new Rezound. The SMS popup comes up when a new text comes in, it just doesnt pull up the person's profile photo as it's supposed to. It's got to be an HTC/Sense issue. I've used SMS popup on AOSP, Samsung Touchwiz, and Team Hacksung's ICS port for the Galaxy S; all of which funtioned properly.
I know I can get handcent but I really like the way this HTC messaging app looks (and its ad-free, unlike handcent). And SMS popup is such a simple way to accomplish the popup on incoming texts and still allow me to use the manufacturer's messaging app.
Has anybody else run into this problem or have any suggestions?
Thanks!
Do you have your contacts linked? Maybe it doesn't know which one to grab...
Alternatively go with Go SMS which is free and does pop up.

Some contacts are linked, some arent. Either way, neither contact photos shows up.
The way my contacts are set up is, I have a google gmail contacts. None of those have any photos in them. Then I also let facebook sync my friends list to my contact list. Some facebook friends also have a google gmail contact equivalent. Those are the ones that are linked.
This is the same way I've always done my contacts on all my other android phones and it's never been a problem. This HTC phone is the first time I've ran across this problem. It's like the SMS popup is calling for a contact photo, but the HTC version of the contact app is calling it by a different name.
Weird, SMS popup works just fine for me pulling up the contact pic using sense etc (innefilibis ROM if that matters)
By the way, I used Handcent for years (with the ads blocked) but this is the first phone I like the stock SMS so much (with red theme bubbles) I didn't even bother installing it.

Google Voice Alternative for Second Google Voice Number?

I am looking for a way to access my second Google Voice number from my Android phone. (I have one GV# for Work and one for Personal)
On my iPhone I use the Official Google Voice app along with GV Connect: http://goo.gl/6Mh9E to use both Google Voice numbers at the same time. I am looking for something similar to GV Connect for Android.
Currently I use the following 4 methods to 1. View SMS 2. Send SMS 3. Make Phone Calls. 4. Recieve SMS notification on an Android Phone.
1. To View SMS: I created a widget of the Google Voice website that I use to view messages in the Chrome Beta. (Also forward SMS to my Gmail and have a custom notification for the SMS Label I created in Gmail.)
2. To send SMS: I use Group SMS & Scheduler http://goo.gl/Vtwpo.
3. To Make Calls: I use GooveIP http://goo.gl/iTczt
4. SMS Notifications on Phone: I set forwarding of SMS messages on my secondary Google Vocie number to my gmail. Then created a Gmail label for all SMS messages to a particular label and skip my inbox. I then setup a custom notification sound for this folder so that I can get notifications on my phone.
There has to be a better way than this. I find it hard to believe that an iPhone is head and shoulders above Android when it comes to using Multiple Google Voice numbers.
Bump...
Edited details for sms on second number.
Every time I get a new Android phone I end up looking for a solution to this issue. I started looking for a solution to this issue when I got a Nexus One in January 2010. This is the number one reason I have stuck with an iPhone over the past few years as it allows me to use two different Google Voice numbers on the same device. The fact that I have been writing that last sentence for over two and a half years boggles my mind. I cant believe Google has not come up with a solution to this problem and even more surprised that so few third party developers have taken up the task.
With that said I am currently using the following solution.
1. To Make Calls: I use GooveIP http://goo.gl/iTczt
2. for SMS I am using SynerGV http://goo.gl/4nKkc
Both of these solutions are "good enough" however they are far from great. Still looking for a single well written app to use with my secondary Google Voice number.
It is a mystery to me how it is possible that an app for this has not yet been created. I would think it would be a lucrative project. I would pay just about anything for this application its the only reason my iPhone is still my primary device.
GrooveIP is great app but rather than buying SynerGV for sms, select the option to push incoming text messages to your gmail account then reply in your default browser using GV mobile site (google.com/voice/m). Its simple and free. I don't know why Google does not see the profit in having 2 numbers on 1 mobile number then having multiple accounts for its voice app. I would definitively pay the fee but anyway I hope this helps.

FYI: Update to the latest Google Hangouts to resolve SMS/MMS problems

I've tried a few custom ROMs, and one minor annoyance is with sending/receiving MMS messages or correctly getting group texts (they show up as individual texts).
Anyway, with the latest version of Google Hangouts (I'm on version 2.0.128), Hangouts can ask to basically take over as the default SMS / MMS app on the phone. And by doing so, this resolved all of my text messaging related errors.
There are a few downsides:
- It opens much slower than the AOSP messaging app
- I'm not able to do quick actions from the Notifications screen (whereas previously I could "Mark Read" or "Reply" right from notifications).
Personally, I've been trying to get all of my friends and family to use Hangouts for real (and stop using SMS and MMS). My techie coworkers all do this, and it's great.

Which Text Messaging App Do You Use?

So I reset my phone back to factory recently, and it has broken some of my habits. When I first got my LG G3 in July I choose the LG Messaging app as default and never looked back. After this reset, the Verizon Messaging app was the default, and I've been using it for a few days. So now I'm trying to decide which is better. I liked the UI of the Messaging app better than the Verizon Messaging app, but the Verizon one seems to have more features. It just feels like the UI isn't optimized for the LG G3 screen though. Some buttons are taking up a ridiculous amount of screen real estate.
At one point on an older phone I even used Hangouts for messaging, but it was screwy with Group MMS and I dropped it. They may have worked that out since...
Anyway, wanted to get an idea of what the majority of LG G3 users are using. Thanks!
I use the verizon message+ app for 2 reasons, first, it has a windows client so i can text from my computer which i love, and second, it has a really good pop up notification feature built in, both of those in the same app made me switch from google hangouts. plus, it syncs so when i switch roms i dont worry about losing any (or at least not many) texts. i have had issues with it not sending mms messages, but i havent tried that on Vanir (i just switched from JasmineROM because i was given info about knock code and quick remote apps.)
I use the Verizon App because it allows me to text from the Computer, syncs to my Tablet and lets me text from there as well, and I like that I don't worry about losing any Texts when I switch Roms. Plus, it has a pretty decent feature-set.
I have always used Textra. It doesn't have the PC to text option, but most of my friends have iPhones and the group messaging works perfect, and the option of removing the message text from the quick reply popup (since I have kids that can read). I have never used the message+ one, so I cannot comment on that.
Handcent.

Handcent SMS
http://www.handcent.com/ or https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.handcent.nextsms&hl=en
I have been using this app for several years. IMO it seems to be the best messaging app for my needs. Way too many features to list. Is customizing your sms app your thing? Well they have got that covered.
Myself, I have got to be able to customize my app the way I want it in every aspect. Handcent allows you to customize it better than ANY SMS app that I have tried and I have tried all the major ones out there and many not so major. Each contact can be customized to your your needs.
ie: message background for all or each separate contact, fonts (style, color, size) and can even customize the quick reply box as well with differ fonts colors and sizes. Basically, you can customize every single aspect of this app.
It has backup / restore options for your messages and your settings and group messaging. I haven't even begun to scratch the surface on what all you can do with this app. I hope this helps shed some light on the Handcent app for ya.
Starting using Google Messenger after the recent update. A lot more efficient that Hangouts for me and with gif support it's perfect for me.
I use mysms. Pretty cool because it enables texting via a laptop or tablet but the SMS app for the phone is really nice too... Pretty similar in appearance to cm12 messaging app
I use textra sms tons of features but i use it especially for the quick reply option
Currently Chomp; came from Handcent.
Google messenger and I love it
Switched to Evolve SMS, so far so good!
Google messenger and hangouts
