Returning to 5.1 after rolling back to 5.0.2 - Dell Venue

Hello, im facing an issue.
Ive made a rollback to 5.0.2 by this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/dell-venue/general/7840-succeed-to-unbrick-t3205024
But now when i want to go back to 5.1 i cant.
I cant install ota, even through CWM. Also there is no recovery, at least i cant get into it, when I press "Recovery mode" in bootloader it just rebooting back to bootloader. No changes, nothing.
But 5.0.2 working fine(just cant do factory reset)
Will be gratefull for any assisstance

You'll need the droidboot version that uses twrp instead of cwm. With that, installing the 5.1 update works just fine.
Sent from my Venue 8 7840 using XDA Free mobile app

Can you please share the link?
PS: How to fix stock recovery? any solution for this?

do you mind giving a bit more information?
What version of TWRP are you using?
Is the update on a sdcard or internal memory?
Can you export the error logs from twrp and post it to pastebin or sth like that?

don't use the update from this link. I don't want to say it's not working but at least for me it was the best (and simplest) option to boot up 5.0.1 after fresh installation and let the tablet download the 5.1 update by itself. After download is complete, it can be installed via TWRP-Recovery without problems.

[Q] Unable to flash ROM

I downloaded the Beanstalk KitKat ROM today and planned to install it to replace Jellybean. I copied the ROM zip and gapps to the internal storage, unplugged the phone and rebooted into recovery. I wiped the cache and data, but when I went to install the ROM zip it wouldn't work; it returns an error of "set_metadata_recursive: some changes failed" with a status of 7. Before I rebooted into Android to re-copy the files over, assuming something went wrong in the copy process, CWM prompted me saying that I might have lost root and whether or not it should fix it. I hit yes. Now, I cannot reboot back into Android. The phone hits the HTC loading screen, reboots, and then ends up back at CWM.
Is there any way I can get a ROM zip on my phone so that I can fix this? Or is my phone essentially bricked?
Any help is appreciated.
If you have adb drivers installed on your computer, you can do this: adb push path/to/ROM.zip /sdcard/ROM.zip make sure you mount data first. See this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=37535001
Are you using the newest version of tour recovery? You need the latest cwm or twrp beta to flash kitkat ROMs.

Last I heard, people were having issues flashing with the updated 2.7.0.1 twrp. The error status 7 you are getting is from using a jb recovery and not an updated kk recovery. The recovery that needs to be used is in the OP of PA if you are using brothaedhung's rom.

Ok i will check that and update what about emulated storage?

When you click on the link you will see the name of the zip...ext-sd-efs... Allows the efs to be backed up and fixes the ext-sd/emulated storage issue.
I have been running KitKat ROMs since I got this phone months ago, so naturally I went with the KitKat Ext SD version of TWRP. I decided to try MIUI which was 4.2.2 Jellybean, and I was experiencing the Status 7 messages you are mentioning.
Potential solution:
Install the latest (6.0.4.7) PhilZ Touch Recovery for the E970 from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2201860
Once installed you have to force using the update-binary described in this post:

[Q] Problem flashing certain things using TWRP

I was just on the MJ9 firmware had no problem flashing other roms using TWRP. I read that TWRP was having issues flashing ND7 and seen that using Philz was the best thing to use, so I downloaded Philz and saved it, uploaded it to my external SD card along with the other required files for ND7. Rebooted to the recovery formatted the internal storage, dalvik and cache. First thing I did was try to install Philz. I instantly got failed and this message "assert failed: getprop (ro.product.device") I thought it had something to do with the Kitkat update. But, then I read on the forum that one user was having trouble installing Philz also and the user installed the ND7 first then Philz and it installed. So, I decided to try that. The update installed just fine but Philz still gave me the same error. I decided to try to install the radio that gave me the same error. I already had Liquid smooth 4.4 downloaded on my SD card and that wouldn't flash either but the gapps installed. I have installed the newest version of TWRP still no luck. I can't even use Airdroid to transfer to either SD card or internal storage (Later found out its an app problem). What else can I do to get the ball rolling?

Seems like you still have the wrong TWRP for your device.
Here is a Philz Zip with the getprop asserts removed, so it should flash just fine in your current TWRP.

[Q] Nook Tablet CMW Recovery

Hi, I am new to the whole jailbreaking. I followed this video (hZyfWpBJpiE) to root the tablet (6 gb).
In this process, I used NT16or8gbV47SDimagefile and I set the tablet to factory setting, deleted partitions, and deleted dalvik cache. I may have repeated this process because i thought it wasnt rooted because my screen looked different from the video guys tablet
Then followed this video (GZAQpeCtFi0) to install CWM Recovery 4.0.4.8. It booted to the recovery setting screen but I started seeing green lines to the right of my screen then it shut off to restart.
It wouldnt respond when I tried it again so I repeated the first process and tried again but still, same thing happens.
Does anyone have ideas on how to fix this?
Ultimately, I want to install the CM11...
Thanks in Advance
I used the Root Recovery Tools to run the 4.0.4.8

You should not have deleted any partition. Also I am not aware of a CWM v4.0.4.8 for the Nook Tablet, are you sure you downloaded tools intended for the Nook Tablet?
I'd suggest that you try the recovery-to-stock method posted at http://raywaldo.com/2012/06/how-to-un-brick-a-nook-tablet-8gb-or-16gb/. See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2575489 for more info/pointers.

I rooted the NT with: NT16or8gbV47SDimagefile.img
I used this version: flashable_CWM_6.0.4.8_chrmhoffmann
And I have these to install:

I think I tried 3 different ways to install it...do I need both TWRP and CMW recovery?
I read that TWRP was buggy and when it didn't work, I tried CMW recovery.
Right now, I have the NT back to rooted stated and nothing else. I followed this direction last, I think:

Since your NT is running (rooted) stock, you'd need SD-based recovery to flash CM/Gapps onto EMMC. Flashing CM11 requires CWM version later than 6.0.4.5 or TWRP version later than 2.6.3.0, unfortunately there does not seem to be any compilation of SD-based CWM versions 6.0.4.5 or later for the Nook Tablet, hence we are stuck with TWRP 2.6.3.0+ as the only SD-based recovery for flashing CM11 onto the NT. (The flashable_CWM_6.0.4.8_chrmhoffmann is for flashing CWM 6.0.4.8 onto your NT EMMC to replace the stock recovery; the root flasher app recovery is likely a too old recover version to be compatible with CM11).
A potential alternative course of action is to first flash CM10.x for which there are SD-based CWM recovery available (see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=51377882&postcount=163), then upgrade from CM10.x to CM11 (see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2670589).

I think I was able to get through the first step in loading cm 10...
Is it normal for cyanoboot to show up before the cyanogenmod flash??
If normal, I will try to upgrade to cm11. This is a huge improvement though Thanks!
PS. the update from CM10x to CM11 seems to be only for HD or HD+...would this work with NT?

Bricked Samsung Tab GT-p1000 after attemting to install CWM recovery

I followed this tutorial http://www.droidthunder.com/root-install-cwm-recovery-on-galaxy-tab-gt-p1000/#comment-84220 to Install CM 13 ROM on Samsung Galaxy Tab GT-P1000.
I succeffully rooted the device with z4root Android App
I then proceeded to install CWM recovery with Ondin. Although Ondin reports the procedure as Pass, the tablet went into boot loop. It cannot be turned off except for disconnecting the battery.
Is there a way out of this state? I can still put the tablet in Downloading mode.
Thanks for any help.

Hi there,
Normally, when you pull the battery during download mode this will damage the device and you will not turn it on. But anyways can you confirm that you are able to boot the device into download mode.
Sincerely
KIBS2173
I managed to install an original ROM following Overcome guide (after the battery died I managed to put device in download mode and install)
I can now install CWM recovery without a problem. I can also root OK
But I cannot install the CW 13 ROM or any other ROM. I get an error that failed to mount system (invalid argument) and data (no such device) partitions (see attached pictures).
I tried wiping them with TWRP, change the FS back and forth - but all these things fail. It's as if the partitions are somehow locked or protected. Is there any way to fix that?
