i went from an iphone 4 to an atrix and dont regret it at all. Ive owned every iphone thats came out so i was kind of tired of ios.. ive actually recently been thinking of going back to an iphone 4 though just because the new ios5 looks pretty cool [: I have a tab anyways so ill still have an android device to play around with..

I was an iPhone user for a long time but really got tired of iOS and its limitations.
I've had my Atrix for a few months now and never looked back. Now with the bootloader unlocked. It's a no brainer. This phone's full potential hasn't even been shown yet.

I agree, by by iphone. I came from iOS and the only thing I missed was the netflix app. Now with the leaked GB netflix works and I will never look back either.
On a side not my wife is waiting for the iphone 5 or 4s or what ever. I will still play with her phone but only will allow android in my pocket.

When I buy something I want to own it and do what I want with it. When you buy Apple you get to do what they want you to. It's an awesome marking tool keeps you from finding bugs in iOS. It’s so locked down that you can't possible get all the performance out of it. It's also arrogant as hell and makes the assumption we are too stupid to use something with feature and configurability. The APP interface is pretty. But I don't carry a dog in my Gucci. Buy a man’s phone the Atrix! If it was any more butch it would need a shave in the morning. Plus all the business apps on the Android are more powerful and functional and of yes we can hack the crap out it, if we want. It’s your phone; just like PC vs. Apple 20 years ago where are the screws in my case says the Apple users. They don’t call it Jail break for nothing.
I Owned a 3G 16 then a 3GS 32 replaced Bravo then Atrix and the next Motorola phone. The best thing Motorola did was get in bed with Nvidia because the new processor from Nvidia is 6 cores 1.866GHZ! That’s going to be one hot phone latterly.
I did it, not big problem at all, i feel free using android OS, I like iOS but I love android OS! Take an atrix and test it so if you don´t like it return it, so not big deal but maybe you fall in love with android OS like I did
I came from an iPhone 3Gs on 4.x jailbroken. There's only a few things I miss from the iPhone (automatic full phone backups via iTunes, and tapping the status bar to scroll up) other than those two things I love everything else about the Atrix/Android.
I came form a iPhone 3GS (jailbroke on 4.xx ios) to the Atrix. Truthfully, at first I was a little disappointed, there is a definitely a learning curve coming from the ios platform. That being said however, if you pay attention to the forums, ask questions when you need too, and are able to follow directions, you will be more pleased with the Android os overall. After about 2 - 3 weeks of learning how things work on Android, the file structure, adb, etc. It become second nature and really shows you what you've been missing from the iPhone.
The Android os is so open to themeing it's unbelievable. Widgets, frameworks, etc. Once you learn your way around you'll be glad you switched. There are several things I still miss from the iPhone, like the shear number of apps (android is catching up though) and the visual voice mail (yeah I use Google voice now, but still not as easy or good as the iPhone voice mail), but all in all 4 months later, I am very glad I made the switch, and will never go back to the locked down hell that is the iPhone world.
I recently came from the iOS world to the Atrix. I owned every iPhone to the current 4. I am glad I made the swtich. I just have more freedom to make my phone work/run the way I want it to. iOS should be called OURos. My fiance used my phone the other day. She presently has a 3gs. She now wants an Infuse! Make the switch, you won't miss the iPhone!

Woah...now with the unlocked bootloader there is a possibility for CM7...if we do get CM7 on our Atricies then we will have one of the awesomest phones in the world. I would trade an iphone for an Atrix any day... lol then again I would trade an iphone for almost any android phone.

i think the iphone 4 has one of the best screens iv seen,how close does the atrix come to it?everytime i go to att or bestbuy to see the atrix they only have a non working phone on the floor.
if screen is your priority you're better off with SGS2 (contrast/vivid colours but you're going down to 800x480 res) or HTC Sensation (same res as Atrix).
Atrix's screen does the job, I have no complaints (it works lol, no obvious defects or issues), but it isn't as good as SGS2 or iphone IMO. However like I said it works with no obvious issues, so its not important for me.

Normally I would have never considered it. Like a year ago.
But two things happened...
1: I got an ipad2, and found out that I really enjoyed it.
2. My phone broke. Twice. First the motherboard, and then the touchscreen died. Ive had a total of 5 Android phones (mostly HTC and Samsung) two of those had minor issues, and this one, which basically became TWICE. it's not so much that the hardware breaks that bothers me. That can happen to any phone. What bothers me is the hours you spend on the phone, weeks you wait while it's being repaired, arguing with the phone company whether they should get you a new phone, and on and on and on. Contrast this with Apples customer service. You go to the Apple store, and many times they just give you a new phone if e problem is serious enough, or repeats itself.
And then there's Android itself. Don't get me wrong, I love Android. But there are some things that never really change. The occasional lag or choppy listview you still get with a dual core CPU (!) and mediocre battery life.
And the whole software and hardware upgrade circus...
I got a top of the line Evo3d phone last year, which was supposed to get upgraded to ICS relatively fast, and then a couple of weeks ago HTC all of a sudden made an announcement that pretty much said: "Screw you, Evo3D owners! We're updating other handsets first, so you'll have to wait at least till summertime to get an update!"
And nevermind that you can forget about software updates after a year (If youre very lucky, year and a half. Yes there are developer updates and ROMS, but really, I can't be bothered with it anymore)
The hardware situation is also frustrating. Your phone is outdated in less than a year, replaced by yet another faster flagship, that despite the higher specs only seems to be marginally faster.
Compare that to iPhones, that don't just work, but work well... And not only does a three year old iPhone 3GS STILL get updates to the latest version of iOS (Do you even remember the Android phone you had three years ago? Chances are the last OS update was 3 or 4 versions ago) and an almost two year old iPhone4 not only keeps its resale value really high, it still FEELS like a top of the line phone, able to keep up with today's flagships.
IOS and iPhones obviously arent perfect, and have their flaws too. And I'm still not sure if I'm going to jump ship (or maybe should try WP7) but has anyone else felt frustrated with the whole Android experience and have considered switching?
the occasional lag and stutter is due to the lack of hardware acceleration in gingerbread roms/apps. ICS should take care of that. Also you need to keep in mind that android is constantly improving. All these issues we have now will be corrected by google. Yes, i agree with you on our phones becoming outdated fast, but if that's an issue for you get a nexus phone.

Maybe I would try win mobile but I would not get an iphone for personal use. To your point about the software updates you are not being fair. Ios updates are minor, largely bug fixes, and Ios is almost identical to its original form. Be careful what you wish for regarding 3 year old devices getting software updates. Ask someone with a iPhone 3g how ios 4 worked out for them. My wife had her iPhone 4 go back 3 times for major repairs and freezes occasionally needing to be hard rebooted so hardware problems are not just android issues. Battery life on the iPhone is horrible since ios 5.
Listen, if you like ios and the iPhone there is no issue with that. I do not find android lagier than ios, in fact my old Samsung captivate blows my iPhone 4 away speed wise. The iPad is a great device, I just can't warrent the cost for a device with no flash player.

ive had 3 iphones. all together. and yes it is a great phone. just a quick summary. if the iphone drops, be prepared to spend lots of money. software wise i hardly faced much issues.IOS is very good and stable, but battery is realy bad.
im new to androids, and i like the fact that its constantly improving. and of course how everyting can be customized. on an iphone, its like apple owns the phone and not you. then u JB it, and still limitations will be there.
and IOS is kind of boring, hehe , android is a bit more fun.

I see nothing that is the fault of Google's Android. Hardware issues are the fault of the manufacturer and should be covered under warranty. You can't blame an OS for hardware issues. Upgrades one again are the manufacturer's decision. You could make the argument that Android OEMs need to be let in earlier in development (similar to Windows) so that they can have upgrades out in a timely manner. But most of the upgrade stalling come from the stupid custom skins/launchers that OEMs feel the need to distribute. So don't get mad at Android when most of your problems are caused the the OEM.

Considered switching? No. I came from iPhone. I would never go back. Must address some things you said from my own personal experience...
RE: phone braking - I'm not sure what experience you've had with Apple, but I've *never* had them just replace a phone in the way that you are implying. Depending on the problem, you may have to send your phone away for repairs or possibly purchase a new one. Unless it is obvious that the problem is on their end, they don't just give you a new phone on the spot. You have to deal with the same discussions of why it's broken, what happened, multiple attempts to repair, blah blah blah. My *one* hard button stopped working for some time, and had to deal with going into the store 4 times and calling customer service repeatedly. It's every company. Can't avoid it.
RE: updates - Yes, they give updates to all phones... but they essentially only have ONE PHONE. Apple doesn't have the plethora of phone brands/types that Android does. So, yes, the iPhone 3 and iPhone 4 get updated with IOS 5. What happened with those updates? My iPhone nearly bricked. I was getting error messages that said that my iPhone "was not compatible" and could not update. It took my sister's iPhone 4 nearly 4 months to finally accept and install the update. Now that it's installed, her apps are FC'ing constantly, her phone freezes on a daily basis (and she can't just pull the battery, keep in mind), push notifications are not working (even though her settings are fine), and her phone dies within 4-5 hours. So... yeah. Not all sunshine and roses.
RE: phone outdated - iPhone 4 comes out, and months later Apple releases their "new phone," being the iPhone 4S. And yes, it's in quotes cause it's essentially the same phone with the addition of Siri. I was pissed at the time. My iPhone 4, which looks and feels and performs just like the brand new version, was now outdated because it didn't have a creepy chick that could talk. /bitterness. At least with Android, if your phone is outdated, it's because a truly new phone has been released - new look, new feel, new OS, new specs, new features, etc.
I get the Apple appeal. I do. I was there once. If you enjoy rooting, flashing custom roms, and having the opportunity to customize your phone, don't jump ship. Sure, you could jailbreak your iPhone, but then you'd just be able to change a couple of settings (ones that you can tailor on a Droid w/o rooting). However, if that stuff doesn't excite and drive you, and you just want a phone to stay stock, and just do basic functions, then maybe the iPhone is best for you. I thought it was fine until I realized I wanted to be able to do more. Just don't jump ship thinking that Apple is some magic company. You'll be disappointed. I was.

Never get tired of Android . Came from WinMo to Android, and will never go back. As far as Apple and their precious Iphone . NO THANK YOU . Know several people ( Lots ) with everything from the original Iphone to the new Iphone 4S. Nothing but issues and situations. My one bud dropped his day old 4S from about three feet off the ground. Done . It practically shattered. But that's not a big deal take it in if you have insurance, and done. WRONG! Took it in and he got a refurb. Nothing but issues with it. Others I know treat their phones like it's made of crystal. they still have nothing but software issues. I'd say it was isolated, but I'm talking about 15 different people. Out of that group, only 4 have never had an issue with their phones. So IMO it's not worth it. But it's only my opinion, and you know what they say about opinions.
i love android and would never abandon it. if u think that iPhone is better than u are so wrong. with iPhone u pay 100% more for 20% less. 65% parts in iPhone are from samsung.

Android is the only one for me.. I had I phone 4s......crap lol boring same as the past iPhone's great for people that just want a phone really that dose a few things on the side games ..internet ..fb.. lol but that's about it great for my wife that not technically minded. Android you can customize .. from UI straight down to hardware. As I say each time SHEEP.....copy after copy .....

I have iPhone 4S, iPad2 a well as an android tablet (tf101) and phone, dunno about WP but iOS has it's merits. Definitely smoother (not necessarily faster). However the small size and lack of 4g/widgets/everything is a deal breaker. Since getting ICS on my tablet and my phone, it just seems to be a higher level of product that does more stuff than iOS especially once Cornerstone becomes more standard.
Also I think iOS crashes more http://www.forbes.com/sites/tomiogeron/2012/02/02/does-ios-crash-more-than-android-a-data-dive/ ,I've certainly had a few problems.
It looks like most of your annoyances surround the fact that iOS devices get updates much quicker. Can't really help that but you haven't said much about why android the OS bothers you. Is something terrible about your less-than-current OS? As for hardware, even iPhones have hardware problems and they break/crack much more easily. If you're going to complain about battery life, I hope you know the iphone's battery life isn't really better than the newer androids. Except on most androids you can use spare batteries if you want. If you like using your phone 100% without worrying about battery life that's an easy way. Choppy list scrolling is noticeable on most androids but rare on most newer phones, never really bothers me but that's hardly a deal breaker compared to the features variety that iphones lack.
Ics will amaze you with zero lag.

I love Android. I have Apple stuff at home like an iPod and to be honest, never liked it. Wife uses it mostly. I find my Android can do a hell of a lot of stuff and it's fast and there is just so much customization you can't do with an iPhone/iPod. Could not see me not enjoying this Nexus phone I got. I got it unlocked with custom kernel etc and it's way better than it was at stock. So in summary, not at all getting bored with my Android phone. I love it.
I came to android from Blackberry, and an old windows ce phone. I can honestly say that I LOVE my Motorola Atrix android phone. It works....works well....and is so much faster than the crackberry. My sig other, on the other hand, HATES her Samsung Galaxy Vibrant. It seems to get headaches all the time. (a combination of hardware glitches and user error, but I won't tell her that ) I just won't buy into the Apple empire, even if Stevo is gone.
Having plodded through years of Symbian 3rd on the Nokia E71 and E5, I am delighted on a daily basis by the newer, shinier, more customisable UI Android provides. My Galaxy Note is not, however, a better *phone* than the E5. It's a better everything else, though. I keep the E5 as a quickdraw backup.
Overall though, the reason I prefer android is the "wild west" feel of thousands of excellent applications and very few restrictions on how to arrange and use them on my device. Same as Windows vs Mac, really. People would all use Macs if the top 200 games on Steam were compatible with that and not PCs. We go where the mojo is.
It's your money and if you think you like iOS more then get the phone!!
For me, I like Android more now especially Android phones even though I have an iPad. And I had an iPhone before getting my first Android phone.
Will most likely never buy a android phone again. I switched a little over a year ago. I will buy android tablets though cuz i see no point getting an ipad wen i have a iphone. I don't have any problems with my or fiences iphone. No problems with updates like someone else said either. I just came back to Android when i bought my Transformer Tablet and installed ics. Android is still laggy with GPU hardware acceleration forced on or off and don't let me start on the laggy Netflix app compared to the ios version. I still love my Android tablet.
Hey, so I've been using an iPhone for a couple years now and I will likely switch to android in the upcoming months. However, I have some reservations mainly to do w/ typing.
I recently owned an HTC aria and while it was good for the first month or so it got incredibly slow to a point where when I would write a text it would take like 4-5 seconds for the phone to catch up to my typing. It seems to be also an issue when I use my Nexus 7 1st gen w/ swiftkey tablet. It's especially bad when I try to quickly search things in Google Now or in Chrome (even worse). My friends WP8 device doesnt seem to have this problem but my iPhone 3GS (really old) has the same problem but less pronounced.
I was wondering if this issue has been solved in the newer devices like the Moto X/Nexus 4/G2.

I too have been a iPhone guy since the 1st gen. With the iOS all being the exact same, you'll love the freedom of a android. I have had androids that run slow such as the LG Mach. The low priced androids. But if you can pay all that money for a iPhone, you can afford a great android. I just got a galaxy s3 a few days ago. And it is AMAZING! the speeds, display, all around great phone. The s3 beats the iPhone 5 by a long shot

Well swiftkey does like to eat up resources. Do you happen to have many languages installed? I have a nexus 4 and so far I've never had any problems lime that. It's stable, running CM 10.2 and it's fast with no lags. Still I'd suggest you to wait for a bit as the new nexus is coming out pretty soon, and if you can buy it then go for it. I'm sure it won't disappoint you. The perks of owning a nexus means stock android ( a great plus for speed and stability), you get updates directly from Google (means you're one of the first on the list when it comes to new software) and it means cutting edge hardware at a very reasonable price.

I got my Nexus 9 32gb lte a few months ago from a local retailer (JBHIFI) and there has been a few issues that have since popped up and i'm looking for advice on what i should do. I should start out by saying that it was a floor model with literally nothing else besides the tablet. No charger, no box, no Htc manuals or warranty cards (i know what they look like thanks to my Htc one x and Htc one M9) but at half the retail price i thought it was a good deal. The screen looked good with very little backlight bleeding ( only at the top and bottom and you can't really tell if you're not looking for it) and the housing looked to be in good shape as well but after a few months the issues started to pop up. The first issue i noticed was the tablet gets pretty hot to the point where i can't touch it, I'm not sure if it's a nougat issue but i doubt it, it's specifically hot around the top half and there's a crunching sound when i press down around the top 1/4 of the tablet which leads me to believe the copper shield is having issues. Second issue is the battery life has also taken a pretty big hit, i used to be able to get 6+ hours sot (managed 7 hours once) and now I'm barely able to get 4 hours sot with it frequently only getting about 3 1/2 hours sot before i have to charge it. Third issue is the air bubbles in the corners of the screen. I've got 3 separate bubbles along the top of my nexus 9, one in the top left and one in the top right corner and a small strip very close to the right corner air bubble. I know i have consumer laws on my side in case JBHIFI decide to do nothing to help me and i could force the issue if i wanted to. I'd like to get it fixed but these issues are making me look at other options like a new tablet (not much to choose from though). Any advice would be a great help.

I don't think mine has any actual hardware issues but requires frequent wipes (at least every 8-12 weeks) to avoid lag, freezes, and reboots. The back of the tab-near camera-does get hot especially when using Chrome but the bubble issue would concern me.

Thanks for your reply. I went back to the store, spoke with the manager and they'll be taking it back with a full refund in the new year because of a massive hardware fault in his opinion. He asked if I could come back after the Christmas/Boxing Day madness which is fine with me. Thank you again for making up my mind on this.
I wish I could help with a suggestion for another tablet. The reason I still have mine is because I've found nothing better. I actually love the form factor, and when it's working well, the display is remarkable.

I loved my Nexus 9 when i got it but these issues have put a serious dampener on my love with the nexus line, Especially when I'm coming from the Nexus 7 2012 and the 2013 (2012 died from either a mobo failure or a nand failure but the thing served me and later my dad well. The 2013 was easily my best tablet experience to date and still is). Like you said the screen is amazing (minus the bubble issue) and i love the form factor, it's just a shame that google went with the "lets price everything higher" approach which screwed over Aussies with $1000+ Pixels. (128gb Pixel XL comes in at almost $1500) I'll be keeping an eye out on CES and MWC to see what comes out on the tablet scene but i'm hoping for a Galaxy Tab S3 to get announced or for Lenovo to come out with something amazing as they're really the only players in the Australian market outside of windows 2 in 1's from Asus, Hp, etc, Ipads and the Surface lineup.

Likewise, (and I think most people who use the N9 share this opinion)
When it works, its great. Sadly.....it doesn't always work great, biggest reason for this is that its a 64-bit android with only 2 gigs of memory. thus, your memory is 90% of the time near full capacity.

My first nexus was the Nexus 5, after which I bought the N9. The N5 was a remarkable phone....the N9 also managed to kill my love for the nexus line.
Pixel kosts around € 950,- for the 32gb version and around € 1175,- for the 128gb version in Europa). Which translates to around 1000~ 1250 dollars. Still not as bad as 1500 dollars but I will never ever in my life lay down that much money for just a phone.
Now, as far as recommended tablets go. I cannot recommend Samsung (We have a Tab Pro here aswell), simple verdict on that. Its slow, sluggish, comes with far too many un-installable system junk apps and Samsung can F*** right off with their locked bootloaders, anti-flash policies, KNOX and instant-warranty void if attempt to flash remotely anything.
If I were to count I'd say our Samsung Tab came with atleast 3~4 news apps which it will try to shove down your throat. (As they are baked into the default launcher so you can't even remove or disable them)
Maybe Sony/Lenovo comes out with a good tablet. The only other good aspect about N9 is that it features only Google default apps and very little to no bloat. So its rather clean.
Never thought I'd say this but, If you really need a good tablet. Personally, I'd recommend just getting an iPad instead (Coming from someone who uses 100% Android at all times)

The only reason i'm looking at a Galaxy Tab right now is because my mum and step dad came to visit and they both have a galaxy s7 edge and the thing bloody flies so i'm hoping that carries over to a future Tab S3 release if it ever comes out but you're right about the bloatware damn things came packed full of crap I wouldn't use but I think Samsung have actually bothered to optimize their skin more than in the past (before they upgraded, they had a galaxy S3 3g 1gig ram version and a og note and those things were turds) but i'll wait and see what happens as i'm not rooting or running custom roms anymore except on my old htc one x. (i'm alpha testing cm13 on it and it's going ok but damn are there issues we need to iron out). I don't think Sony is going to be doing another tablet even thought the z3 compact and the z4 were really good tablets from user and reviewer reports just from the amount of time between releases. It's been well over 18 months since the z4 tablet came out so i'm thinking they've pulled out of the tablet arena because of how poorly their mobile division is doing at the moment. I'm wary on lenovo because my dad had a bad experience with one of their recent 8" yoga tabs. Thing would constantly freeze, lockup then dad would have to reboot it manually so not the best experience there from a hardware point but the software is pretty bare bones and stock like but with lenovo icons, you get the standard google suite of apps and some lenovo additions, some are good and some are horrible (why they changed the look of multitasking and put in their own gallary i don't know but they ruined the look of the os and did not follow material design at all) but they're a more budget option so you get what you pay for. Asus is out as they don't sell their zenpad line here in Australia but i wouldn't have gone there anyways as their update support is absolutely woeful and i think their bloatware situation is worse the Samsung considering they let anyone buy there way in to get their apps installed. I would have looked at a pixel c but it's out of stock at google and some eBay sellers are asking $1000+ so that's out. I'm not in a hurry to get a new tablet thanks to my dad giving me the nexus 7 2013 i gave him back so I've got something to use in the meantime until something comes out at CES or MWC.

I've owned Galaxy Nexus, N4, N5, both N7's. So, the N9 killed any trust for HTC, not Nexus. I got my older son 6P as his N4 was ageing out. Great phone! Too big for my hands, though. As my N5 was slowing down, I bought a 5X (after replacing DH's i4S with one and discovered I liked it). My first android was a pandigital novel which still works. I then got a 10.1" Toshiba Thrive.

I even tried that as we had two in the family. I replaced older son's ipad 2 with Samsung Tab pro 12.2-both sons got one as they have 1000's of digital comics, and that tab was the best for that. Even after jailbreaking the iPad, it was far too restrictive for me. Loved the display on the iPad. I'm just really picky [emoji20]

Well i took it back and the manager give me a full refund so that's the end of the nexus 9 experiment. Now to play the waiting game to see if any new tablets come out that are interesting.

I usually have 2 main devices that I use daily and it's been since launch that I've had a Nexus 6p.
When the 6p came out I bought one brand new (but from someone who upgraded third contract) so it kind of worried me as I didn't wanna get stuck with a blacklisted phone. Ended up selling the 6p for a decent profit, told said person to get a hold of me if any problems occurred (ie the phone getting blacklisted) , never heard back from the buyer.
Fast forward a couple years and after going threw 6 different phones just this year (25 last year) I always seem to want to flash a stock rom (when I can)
The problem is, there is always something wrong (bugs) and the phone never seems as smooth as it should be.
Right now I have a LG G5 , Microsoft 950 and Samsung Note 4 .
As I'm walking threw a local store and couple days ago, I see that they are selling brand new 6p for $299 (cdn) for the 32gb model. How could I pass this up??? Simple answer, I couldn't
So with them already being unlocked it really was a no brainier for me (especially since they are selling for around $350-400 on the used market here)
I was a tad concerned about the SD810 and 3gb of ram as those are mid-range specs these days and I'm used to the proformance of no lag and what not (iPhones have spoiled me)
Well being a Nexus and having stock software makes a HUGE difference as opposed to bloated software from OEMs.
My 6p is snappy and fast as hell and is faster than my G5 in everyday use, kills my Note 4 (which is no surprise) and crushes my 950.
To make a long post short, specs aren't always everything. If the software is optimized properly, backed with good hardware, you will have a smooth experience.
And also that the 6p is still a beast of a device almost 2 years after it's release.
Makes me not miss my iPhone as much

I still think iPhones are overpriced overhyped trash and do prefer android but that's a letter of opinion. I agree that specs do t always matter because it depends how resources are used and the version of software and all. However, specs still are important and do meant **** because you Can't say that phones like the oneplus 5 aren't more powerful and faster with better battery than the 6p so specs are important but at the same time it depends how the software is used by the phone maker.

Couldn't agree more. As time marches on, I'm always on the lookout for a new phone. But there's always something missing, whether it's front facing speakers, beautiful screen, a great camera or snappy response. Stock Android is the best but it's also thanks to developers for their amazing work that makes this phone great, like elemental kernel and viper arise with Dolby atmos.

It's funny that you mention One plus.
Yes new phones today come speced out (flagships) but just how much of that is a gimmick ?
Look at OnePlus, a phone with 6gb or 8gb of ram, seems crazy right? But what's the point when Android only can utilize 4gb MAX.
Processors are absolutely killer these days, no doubt. But the more intense ones with wicked gpu are just so they can play games.
I don't game on my phone, so having the most powerful SoC isn't really important to myself.
Let's look at optimized software on top as well.
When I had my Axon7 (sd 820) and S7 edge (exynos 8890) both their companies flashships at the time, I would run benchmarks and different tests to see which one was the more powerful.
On paper the Exynos would always score higher in any test I ran, but when it came to day to day use, the Axon would less laggy and feel smoother.
And all this came down to proper software optimization and less bloat.
I'm getting the same results with this 6p vs my LG G5.
The G5 is superior on paper, but the Nexus preforms better over all due to software.
Another prime example of specs not meaning much (to me anymore) is with my laptop (convertible) vs my tablet.
I use a Acer Alpha Switch 12 for my Windows option when I'm on the go, it's got 8gb of ram, core i5 (6th gen) ect. I use it to edit vids and what not.
Now I also have the 2017 iPad (the cheapest one) which has 2gb of ram and the A10 processor (the ones used in the iPhone 6s). The crazy thing? I can edit 4k video faster and smoother on my iPad than I can on my Windows machine. Crazy right?
I used to be all about specs and would always want the latest and greatest just for the sake of having it.
But once I started to use an iPhone..... Well, spces really don't mean all that much anymore

You just wait until Android O is dropped, I was running O DP4 for a couple weeks and I can tell it's going to make the 6p feel new again, other than the graphical lag, which is expected for a beta, it felt smooth and refined. I'm pretty excited myself for Android O

Look at benchmarks... It is technically a dual core, doubles pretty much everything else in single core performance (which most apps run in) and matches octocore processors in multicore. Runs pretty much everything at 60fps. I sold mine because iOS was boring but no matter how much of a fanboy you are you can't deny they perform extremely well.
I grew up and realized i didn't need to be on either side, I'm not like one of those ford vs dodge morons. That's just pathetic imo
My 6P is still a great phone. Just wish Huawei used better battery and focused more on build quality. iPhone can also be great for certain people. My Dad has the iPhone SE. I'd get bored using a iPhone but he loves it because it's less complex than Android, gets very good battery life without any tweaking and has great build quality.

Honestly if you don't really use your phone for vr apps, the iPhone 6s+ , to me, is an absolute beast. No iPhone 7 because of the nonexistent headphone jack (such a silly move).
Would I take it over my 6p? If both were unlocked ,and brand new, I could go either way and be happy with A or B.
But the fact that I picked up a brand new 6p (from a retailer) for $300 cdn ($240usd) is one hell of a deal.
The 6p will most likely be sticking with me for a year as nothing that's come out / coming out really seems all that exciting to me.
