Connecting to PC using USB problem - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi!
I have a problem with my Lenovo K3 Note.
Can't transfer files from PC using USB cable (it only charges). Computer doesn't recognize and no notification or option to change connection type on Smartphone.
The only way to connect to PC via USB is when i have TWRP recovery open. In this case i can transfer files, etc
Already tried in different computers with different cables and with USB debug on and off.
Any help would be very appreciated

[Q] Unable to connect to pc using usb

When I plug my gtab into my pc, it isn't recognized. On the tablet I get a message"usb debugging connected, but nothing about the usb port being connected. I was able to connect before. The only time it recognizes the usb is when I insert a microusb card and restart the unit. I am currently using bittrix-gb-beta-cm7. Everything else is working.

pc not recognising phone

Hi,
I think the usb port on my sgs2 is f***** It will send a charge to the phone, but will not recognise it.
I get error on my vista laptop as :
USB DEVICE NOT RECOGNIZED - One of the usb devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and windows does not recognize it. For assistance in solving this problem, click this message.
I have tried reinstalling usb drivers on kies and put in debugging mode etc. I had a problem with the phone not charging around christmas time, so I cleaned the usb port with a cocktail stick, that got the charge working, but it has not picked up usb mode since. So I cant connect usb storage or to ODIN, let alone KIES.
Does anyone have any advice/suggestions as to what I could try, I really dont want to send it back for repair and be handset less for a month!

I am Sure no problem with your mobile. May be problem with computer Hardware or Drivers.
can you try different USB port or you can different computer also.
If you dnt have another PC , uninstall all samsung drivers & kies and reboot the PC.
Just connect as USB storage . USB storage not require any special drivers.
Also use the original usb cable. I have two different cables and only original one works.

I have the same issue, if your not rooted just Send it for repair under warranty but if you are you'll have to flash a stock kernel to remove root first and use a jig to reset your flash counter

Had the same problem, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1425128my cable was the culprit.
Mobile Odin for flashing and Remote Web Desktop/Root explorer for SD access will tide you over.

Make sure:
The selection of AP/BP connection behavior
when connecting your phone (as a client), with a USB cable
to a PC host, is manually set in the PhoneUtil (PU) Menu.
This sets the behavior of your phone when connecting it
to a PC. You can select wether you like it to act as a
Modem or PDA, o via USB or UART port. The PU does not
seem available from the ServiceMode menu.
Dial: *#7284#
Code:
UART:
[o] MODEM*
[ ] PDA
USB:
[ ] MODEM
[o] PDA*
* is default SGS2 setting.

Check the follows
Is Cable Connected tight?
Using right cable?(some cable is only made for charging)
Try reinstall Xperia Z2 driver from PC
Change USB port(It might be some problem with your PC)
Disconnect everything other than XperiaZ2 and try(sometimes PC can only handle few devices at the same time)
Are you using Extension cable or USB HUB? (It might not work)

[Q] Galaxy S2 GT-I9100 won't connect to PC via USB

I'm having an issue with my Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-I9100 (running on stock Jellybean 4.1.2) no longer connecting to the PC via USB. It had been working fine up until a few days ago.
When I connect the USB cable, it only charges the phone. It doesn't show that it is connected in MTP mode and no USB options appear in the pull down notification bar. I tried locating the phone on the computer in Windows Explorer and the Device Manager, but it wasn't there at all. There also wasn't any unrecognised device in the Device Manager.
I’ve tried the following:
Using different USB cables. Tried two official Samsung cables, a Belkin charge/sync cable and a generic cable
Plugging into different USB ports on 3 different PCs/notebooks (running on Windows 7/8)
Turning on/off USB debugging mode on the phone
Going into Settings>Wireless and networks>USB utilities. After tapping "Connect storage to USB", it will prompt to connect a USB cable even though it is already plugged in.
Booting the phone in safe mode and connecting the USB cable
Installing the latest version of KIES. I had never used the software before but gave it a try. KIES wouldn't detect the phone
Uninstalling and reinstalling the latest Samsung drivers
Dialling *#7284# for the PhoneUtil options and checking it was PDA mode under the USB option.
Turning off the phone, removing then re-inserting the SIM card and battery
Cleaning the micro USB port on the phone
I have not made any changes to the phone (or PCs), so I'm not sure what has happened for the USB connection to stop working.
Your assistance would be much appreciated.
That is very weird. Are sure you didn't change the USB connection type?

Definitely sure.
I'm wondering if maybe the micro usb port is damaged, even though there's no problems charging the phone.
That is very possible, the port can be damaged in a way that only allows charging.
Hey guys, My micro-usb was damaged so i changed it with a new one... It didn't work and phone was charging instead of Mass Storage or Debugging mode !
I thought its fake and a bad quality micro-usb so i changed it again and still have the same problem.
I have the same computer, same cable and everything is same, even the programs which i installed in both phone and pc are same, but it wont connect to pc.
My moms phone can be connected with my cable.
Ok, before i change the Micro-Usb, it was fine but not charging as good as normal. I mean at least i was able to upgrade or downgrade my android version )
Can anyone help me ? I already did a factory reset and removed the SD card. No lucks ... ( i also tried other cables and other computers, but the problem is ONLY with my damn phone )
I'm running Android 4.0.3 KH3
