[Q] Problem with booting Remix OS on PC - kernel panic - Remix OS for PC

Hi everyone
I don't know if I can post it here but I need help.
I've downloaded iso with remix os from jide site and I managed to install it to my HDD on almost 12 yo. PC. And here is my problem - while booting the system, it resets computer with "kernel panic not syncing trying to kill init exitcode=0x00000004" message.
Config of that PC
CPU: AMD Athlon x64 3200+
GPU: Geforce FX5500
RAM: 1GB
PS: I've also tried booting directly from iso (as live CD) but it also reboots with the same error.
Thanks

I heard on a few forums that newer geforce gpus don't work.

Disable secure boot in bios setting.

There is no such a thing in AMI BIOS (or am I stupid [emoji14])
Remember it's almost 12 years old PC.

Which build version did you installed? EFI or Legacy?
And what's in your grub configuration (grub.cfg or 40_custom.cfg)?

Well, I think it is Legacy version (I've downloaded it from jide site) and I did not change anything in grub files.
PS: Everything works on my laptop with i3 CPU and GT525M/HD3000 GPUs.

Jide site has both build versions. Your i3 laptop should work with EFI version while your 12 years old PC should work with Legacy version.
Do you have any other operating system in your PC?

No, I've installed it after full wipe but it doesn't matter as I've also tried to boot it from USB. It always hangs at the same moment.

Same problem here... I did read that if you hang on Android logo to set up in Primary Screen as main in bios or something. Funny, how that's literally as far as I've gone. Same specs except I upgraded ram to 3GB. And In my case, I'm aiming for installing in Hard Drive (sata)

For remix os to run, you need x86 64-bit system. Yours ain't. So, it wont work. Any system made after 2008 will only work.

Well, i have an old AMD Athlon x64 3200+ running with Ubuntu 15.10. 64bit.
I think it is the GeForce, which causes the problem.

Nvidia cards have trouble booting up the os.

Ok guys
I finally managed to semi-boot newly released 32bit RemixOS.
Semi-boot because it does not show kernel panic anymore but now it shows this:

Resident Mode Troubles (Built PC)

I built myself my own computer with an NVIDIA GTX 970 for it's graphics card, i5-4690k processor and the motherboard is an Asus that has USB 3.0 ports.
I was using an old 16GB Sandisk that's USB 2.0. Guest mode boots fine and there are no graphical issues it boots up fine and normal on my end..
However booting into Resident Mode I have issues. There is an infinite boot loop on the Remix OS screen, when I reboot to try again there is an initial loading screen in Mandarin (Or at least I believe it's Mandarin, sorry) but then I get stuck on the Remix OS screen once again. I even tried deleting data.img to try again and that didn't work.
I let my computer run it all night and still haven't managed to boot up.
I even managed to run Guest Mode on a 4 GB USB Stick that is on 2.0, which leads me to think there isn't anything wrong with the OS itself but with creating a permanent partition on the USB Stick for the OS and the data you want to store on it. Does anyone have an idea to fix this? Haven't found a solution and searched everywhere for one.
Thanks in advanced. :good:

That's strange though it booted up on Guest Mode, is Resident Mode more dependent on the GPU I suppose?
I'll try running resident mode once again but on my integrated graphics. Wish there was a seamless was of booting Remix OS then to windows easily though.
Thanks for the response!

** THEORY **
Not going to post anymore since I realize i've been spamming my own thread with micro-updates.
I'm going to theorize that you CAN'T run Resident Mode if your USB Stick goes under 10 (Which the OS does warn you about this). Unless anyone else has been able to run Resident Mode on a 2.0 Stick please do post here. I order this from amazon, hopefully it'll work. ALSO, from my findings I do believe that even if the USB port is 2.0 it'll still run well because USB 2.0 ports are capable of writing up to at least 15 - 50 MBps assuming your USB Stick is USB 3.0.
TL;DR
USB 2.0 can't run Resident Mode
USB 3.0 is fast on a 2.0 port which should be able to run Resident Mode
Only a guess/theory from observations.
Guest Mode works on USB 2.0 <= 5MBps
This link goes to a possible solution regarding NVIDIA Cards!
I have the same trouble with an ASUS F200-CA intel celeron. I run quite well guest mode but resident mode has your same issue. I've installed Remix OS on a 2.0 usb stick.
The only difference between me and you is that the first time i booted it war working also with resident mode (for example i installed Google Play Services). I don't know why but after a reboot it stopped working. I tried to format and flash many time the usb stick trying to make it work.

I also have this issue. When I boot up, it goes through the grub menu fine, and I can proceed from the USB write speed test (I have to "press enter to continue"), but after it does that, my machine resets. As in, the power goes off for about five seconds before starting up again.
Anybody have any ideas?
My system specs:
CPU: AMD FX-8350
RAM: 32GB
M/B: Asus M5A99FX-PRO-R2
Video: nVidia GeForce GTX 970
Sound: Creative X-Fi
I tryed to install an other version of Remix OS (1.5) but it also don't work. At the begining a thought that thé image "system.img" was missing but nothing else hapenned. I am starting to think that the problem is coming from the version and that we do have to wait for à better version. So I think they are not solutions yet.

well, going by their FAQ thingie, it's likely to be nVidia graphics cards causing the issue.

Hey,
Thank you. Somebody knows if Remix OS could work with NVIDIA in yhe futur ?
By pressing tab and typing "nomodeset" at one of the boot options, it boots successfully for me, but it's ugly as all hell, and there's am unsightly blinking text cursor in the middle of the screen
So we just have to write this command when they ask us which mode (resident/guest) we want ?

Yes. highlight "Resident" or "Guest" and press Tab. Then, add "nomodeset" to the end of the command and press Enter. It works for me, but it's not pretty. Not by a long shot.

It is not generaly solutio for "Remix does not boot" comonly problem. "nomodeset" is just one of various parameters which you can add to your GRUB kernel line. Here in second post (post with green check mark aka accepted answer) you have nice explanation what "nomodeset" does. Remix is in alpha stage and wont run on all hardware. If someone succsesfuly booted Remix on his own hardware with "nomodeset" parameter, it doesn't be case that you will also, on your hardware. I also can't bott Remix on my Toshiba Satellite L775D, and I was try many of kernel line parameters. From other side, I succesfully run Remix on other laptop (Acer Aspire something) without editing anything.

Uefi bios only !
Hey Guys,
So i have download the beta on the Remix OS (32BIT) although for the life of me cannot get it working. I have a linx Tablet which doesn't seem to have legacy support within the BIOS. As far as i am aware the 32BIT version of the OS is Legacy only so how am i meant to install the OS? Here's what i have tried so far.
- Used the beta software to install Remix OS on the same drive, installs fine but when i restart the tablet it boots straight into windows 10. Also when looking at the boot manager there's nothing there to boot from.
Installed the 64 BIT version which also doesn't boot although if i go into my boot manager it appears but when selecting the screen goes black. Most likely due to the fact I'm trying to boot 64 BIT on a 32BIT tablet.
Now this seems like its going to be an issue for many people with 32BIT systems with no legacy option available.
Has anyone had luck getting this working ???

While booting, press ESC when it prompts you...to go to the main menu.
Press E
You will get 3 or 4 lines
Highlight the line that contains kernel and press E again
move left or right using the arrow keys
add those flags right after androidboot.hardware=remix_x86_64
Be sure to add spaces as needed.
Once done, press Enter.....then press B to boot.

Man,
Amazing.. This worked but i did not use any spaces between nomodeset and vga though. But unfortunately after rebooting, it gave the same problem again, so i restarted again to repeat the procedure but sadly this time it showed me error 15 and it is showing the same no matter what I do. It does not give the options to as it did in the first time.

Unless you put it in the grub file you have to add this code everytime you reboot. Can you edit the code in windows? You need the space so u don't confuse the pc.

realised that it needs to be changed in the grub file to make it permanent. Is there a way to do that? I have no idea.

Installed remix os 32 bit beta legacy version on new hard disk drive for dual boot but not able to boot.
First tried formatting the drive in NTFS format and then FAT32 but both are producing same results.
Currently stuck at 'detecting Android x-86'.
Checked secure boot option by typing msinfo32 in run, it is mentioned as Unsupported.

Checked secure boot option by typing msinfo32 in run, it is mentioned as Unsupported.
Any help remixers..

On the 2nd command line for booting in resident mode, is the SRC= set to RemixOS?
Find --set-root /RemixOS/kernel
Kernel /RemixOS/kernel root=/dev/ram0 android boot.hardware=remix_86 andro->
Initrd /RemixOS/initrd.IMG
Boot
Above commands are displayed and I am not able to see 'SRC='
When press edit on second line
<CREATE_DATA_IMG=1
Is displayed.
Help required..

Go into command line mode (c button I think); and see if you can locate /Remix; if you can't then neither can grub.
Try ls and ls [hd0,mrb1]/ etc and see if you can find it.
Depending on the output/error you might need to insmod msdos or run chkdsk on the parition
Help remixers
And to earlier question I was able to find SRC=RemixOS in second line

How did you install? I'm just surprised that stock legacy would be using a grub that old...
Have Windows 10 32 bit on my desktop ( not laptop but assembled desktop ).
Made a partition of 16Gb as D drive with C drive as Windows 10
Formatted D drive to Fat32
Downloaded Windows 32 bit from jide.
Using installer provided by jide installed it on D drive.
Finished installing.
After reboot system boots Windows 10 but will get a screen with Windows 10 and Remix OS option selected Remix OS.
After booting to remix OS got Resident mode option, it gives me 10 second time before which I need to click ESC. otherwise it directly boots and I get Android 'detecting error.
If I press escape I can go edit option

Have you checked if secure boot is disabled?
Was not able to find secure boot option in BIOS.
Updated latest BIOS (2009) version but no option of secure boot.
And in Windows secure boot is mentioned as Unsupported.
