Official OF1 Root - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

Hi guys!...i don't know if this is official but I factory reset my phone and flashed OF1 ROM again so I gave it a try to Kingroot android app...so actually I got rooted like in just a minute, I don't know if it changed my kernel...which I believe it's impossible without entering download mode...so here are some screen shoots...

You tried to downgrade the ROM? Im downloading it right now to try to get back to KitKat 4.4.2....so if i succed i'll install CyanogenMod 3
Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk

You cannot downgrade your ROM if you're on OF1. If you're in OF1 you can download KingRoot and root your phone.

Downgrading through flashfire will hard brick not recoverable with odin, only jtag.

jtag won't work at all... That will probably perma-brick the phone. A qfuse was broken, meaning there is NO way to downgrade....

It will, I accidentally flashed an older bootloader in flashfire and was able to recover it with jtag

You need to pull the Kingroot SU. Get terminal emulator and a batch file. Kingroot to SU. File ES to extract the zip. Google is your friend.

Will I lose root?

I have a Sprint SGS 3 rooted with build ALF9 model SPH-L710 in USA.
There is an update it wants me to install.
Will I lose root? If so, can I just go back to my clockwork recovery and restore it?
Or is it easy just to root it again the same way as before?
Thanks

Chances are you are going to lose root.
Can I just re-root it the old way (odin/clockwork I think), or will there be some protection
or need to find a newer root method?
Look here and read it good(to achieve update and root with new firmware and baseband)....:thumbup:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28612771
Also you can achieve the same goal( update and retain root)here too:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28597495
Proofs in the pudding(running custom rom with new baseband and updated build)

It won't install the upgrade rom.zip gives me an error
7 something and fails. Guess I have to wait for the
Sprint stock rom to be posted and then flash it,
then re-root or wait for a posted stock rom w/root
to flash from clockwork recovery?
CWM
you wont be able to install the update with clockwork as your recovery
Imma pm you in a minute and get you right just wait and ill let you know.....and you can flash through cwm ive done it twice...Did you make a nandroid of your stock rooted?

if you loose root, just re-root
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XoEVDgjTTdg&list=UUbR6jJpva9VIIAHTse4C3hw&index=5&feature=plcp
I unrooted, tried OTA and says none (which there was),
re-rooted again with newest rom manager and clockwork,
still can't flash the update. Guess I don't really need it
(what does it even do, I don't use wallet or dropbox).
But it would be nice to be able to flash updates in the future
without wiping anything.

I don't want to flash the original nandroid, as I would lose 100's of apps, saves, settings
that I do not want to take HOURS to fix. Will this method keep all my settings, saves, widgets, etc?
If not, don't I just wait for a rooted updated sprint rom all baked and flash it over mine so I don't lose
a thing? Also the link in #2 doesn't work, what file was it, I might already have it.
P.S. Still don't know what oxeded is or deoxed

What exactly is ME7

What exactly is me7 and mdk and etc..? I have a good guess, but not sure if I am right. Are they chipsets?

They are the last three letters of your phones build numbers. They change when there is an OTA update for your phone. To check what your build is, go to Settings - More - About phone. Scroll down till you see "Build number". It will say something like "I545VRUEMJ7".

Lets say your phone is made and software #1 is loaded on it then revisions or updates happen for any number of reasons leading to #2 and so on. Of course theres more behind the updates but thats kind of a general idea. With the s4 on verison the phone has went from mdk to me7, ml1, mj7 now mk2.
What's a safe way to update to the latest, but keep root? I'm coming from an HTC Thunderbolt, so this is all a bit different.
Here's my stats - I'm stock rooted

You can use this thread here to keep root: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2504408
However, there is a root method for the latest builds that are considered safe and easy. It really doesn't matter. The thread I linked requires you to purchase SuperSU Pro so keep that in mind.

That's a good question. I suppose if you're on bone stock ME7 you could try the survival mode in SuperSU and take the OTA but I'm not sure. I think it may even update you to MI1 first, and then you might have to do survival mode again to get to the latest build. Someone who has done this will hopefully chime in with some clarification.

[Q] Optimus L7 II Firmware question

Hello!
I was going to install a firmware for this phone (p712) with KDZ from this web.
I'm from Argentina, but I was just wondering what are the differences between the v10C and v10D.
I know the v10C comes with the knock application, but what about the v10D?
I got my phone with the v10B early this year, but I couldn't update with FOTA because it is rooted.
Thanks in advance.
I''ve updated my rooted LG OTA three times without any problem.

It tells me that the update couldn't be done because it found that it's rooted. Maybe it's my phone company that wont let me update.
I rooted it with framrooth 1.9.1.

I remember seeing a post here saying that even after unrooting, the update process noticed the rooting tracks so it didn't perform the update.
Maybe you'd better install CWM before unrooting.

George, you probably don't know this device. It doesn't have any custom ROM yet. Hence the OP's question.

I have already tried unroot and try to update, but doesn't work.
The CWM for this phone is very buggy and can cause soft brick sometimes.
There is no custom roms, only some mods or full KDZ update.
Seems that you are talking about a different phone, and new LGs can only update by FOTA (or kdz of course).

So don't update until you clean all of the root trace. For now, I think it doesn't have much different whether you update or not.
In case you are having problem with your device and want to do KDZ update with firmware stock, you can download here.
I know that your LG Optimus L7 II is newer than mine.
Just keep in touch with this site or you could search anywhere else so that you'd be able to update your device by FOTA.
GOOD LUCK.

Update to G00TUVU1BNG3 without losing root.

Put the .tar file on SD card.
Open Mobile Odin pro.
Scroll down to open file. Press it.
Choose the .tar file.
Checked Enable EverRoot and Inject Superuser.
I choose to wipe dalvik cache which is optional.
Pressed flash firmware and that's it!
Good luck.

that is what people pledged for root! and you did that! good job! that can be yours, not bad for some time spent doing what you love to do
Amazing! Success from this user!
Thank you so much!
Many thanks for this successful root of the VS990.
There could have been no better way to log in to XDA after what was the longest hiatus I've taken from checking in on root than to have immediately seen the "paying and praying" for root thread reopened and some 11+ pages of discourse including the unexpected announcement ( very humbly also) that root was achieved.
I almost shat, coming from a long year tied to the Verizon Note 4 which was a great phone except being tied to Verizon keeping it mostly locked up and with temp root not fully doing it for me making it frustrating. I moved on to the V10 thinking foolishly that root would be a lock being that I had seen many LG models rooted ( yes poor ASSumption I know this). Then when finding out that I was wrong, though not surprised, I was seriously disappointed and discouraged with the possible rooting of this phone.
Today however I am pleasantly surprised, very grateful, more than impressed and happy to follow through on my pledge for root.
PayPal money on its way to you tungkick. Thank you for sharing your hard work.
