Created my first phone decal for Samsung S7 Edge in Carbon Fiber...what do you think? - Samsung Galaxy S7 Accessories

After years of using other brand's decal, I decided get my hands dirty and create my own. Here's my first carbon fiber decal for Samsung S7 Edge. The process is definitely longer than I expected, but I think it looks good.

Yeah, one of the biggest reason I decided to create a decal because the phone is too slippery. I bought raw carbon fiber film on Amazon and trace/measure every corners and cut it myself.

This one? http://www.amazon.com/Black-3M-DI-N...57482707&sr=8-2&keywords=carbon+fibre+film+3m

I tried 3M decal, but I don't like it. It's too thick and the edge sticks out too much for my liking. I use this one instead - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0059XCVVO

i personally prefer the 3M Di-Noc. it has a deeper texture. if you use a heat gun and run your fingernail along the edge, it smooths out.

Heat gun on your cellphone? I wouldn't dare to do that.

you only need the heat the material enough to soften it...not all that hot.

If a heat gun is too scary, I have done a homemade skin myself as well. I used a hairdryer. Works just as good and you can toggle warm to hot.

[Bored] Protection for the dock (warning - large images)

I got a little bored, so I decided to order some 3M Di-Noc. Basically the same stuff as Skinomi uses but it's not pre-cut. Ordered a huge sheet. I thought to myself "I have pretty steady hands, and basically all I have to do is cut out a rectangle in some vinyl". Anyway, here are the results. Some things to note.
- I removed the rubber feet, applied the vinyl and then replaced them after cutting the holes out.
- The corners are the hardest part.
- Not for the faint hearted.
- I used the edge of the aluminum bottom as my guide, so the vinyl goes all the way to the edge.
Overall, I think the results are pretty good!!! Enjoi!!!!!

That looks sick! What's ironic is I was just on google trying to find a sheet of CF vinyl for the dock that matched my skinomi skin..lol
Very nice. What solution did you come up with for the corners?
Very nice job! I've surrounded my car stereo and the back of my galaxy nexus with cf di-noc..... this is tempting,,,,,,

Going slow, using a hair dryer to soften up the vinyl and being patient. All of these things are typically pretty foreign to me!
Cool different colors also. Also, consider that installation permanent.

New BoxWave Case

Just did a quick search for a new case. This caught my attention and thought I'd share. Going to order this when I get back from Hawaii.

Sickest case I've seen for this phone yet

I have a case very similar to this one, and am very happy with it. The only difference I can see between mine and this one is around the camera and flash, mine is more open showing the trim around them where this one is just open around the lens and flash. the back is a hard plastic, and the sides are the TPU material. It fits VERY well.
Is it a BoxWave? Early BoxWave Amaze Cases didn't appeal to me. This one is well built/molded. Can't wait to get back from vacation so I can get this.
Plus I think this case would look really nice with my white cover.

What case do you have and where did you get it? I just got a good deal on a d30 band for my amaze, but it is literally the worst case I've ever used. NONE of the buttons on the case work and it slips off the edge of the phone.

This is the one I have. There are a couple of different colors on eBay from the same seller as well, including one with a smoke colored back with the black TPU sides.

WAWO case Tab Pro 8.4

Hi guys, I bought this case for $5.99 from amazon and I couldn't be any happier.
It feels great, protects all corners and sides on the tablet, the wake/sleep function works properly. Cutout for the mic is precise. Stand function works great. Not bulky which I like.
I also have the other one called "Fintie" case which is built the same, but without the metal on the front right side. The "metal" in my opinion is a good thing as it gives you a place where you pull the front flap to open so you don't damage the sides with repeated "pulling".
I am going to get a Dark Brown and Dark Blue

Did it scratch up the corners?

Nope, but before I slipped my Tab pro in, I filed the edges a little just to be sure there's no nasty surprizes...

Skinomi body wraps for Z3?

Anybody use these? They look pretty cool! I'm planning to just put it on the back only (to protect the bottom glass when laying it on a surface). Might order a set of carbon fiber black, or that dark wood!

I considered one of these but i just cant imagine how painful and frustrating it would be applying it. Screen protectors already can be so frustrating haha. If you do please share pics of the after product!
I ordered the silver/white carbon fiber, it's the only easy way to make my black Xperia Z3 white.... T-mobile USA carry just the black version geez.
Looks like super high quality material.
Sent using my Xperia Z3 while underwater
Is this stuff sticking well to the curved areas?
No it didn't stick well to the curved areas. I applied one and withing 2 days it was coming off.
I ordered the Dark Wood one. I'll let you know how it is when I get it.
Enfurno, did you try to re-attach after briefly using a hair dryer? I've seen that suggestion across the Skinomi site, and I'm curious if that helps at all.
Just updating the purchase. I bought the black carbon fiber one. It was very easy to apply and sticks really well (I only applied the rear, not the sides). The cut is very accurate to the phone, with a 1mm gap too thin on one side. So far so good.
The pic does not do justice.
I hear there is a thanks giving sale/discount.
I got the Dark Wood one recently and applied it. The small pieces were a bit of a pain, but using a hair dryer helps to install them. The backside went on very easily. It looks great, I'll try to upload some pics soon.
Also, I'd like to confirm that the 'self healing' does in fact work. I got a rather large nasty scratch on the backside which initially wouldn't "heal", but when I applied heat (I put my hot coffee mug on it, but again, the hair dryer is your friend here) the scratch got less deep and smaller. It's almost gone now, but I think it needs a little more help.
Im looking into getting the Z3 and I have a Z2 today. I want like a rubbery backside because my hands are very dry and its alittle bit slippery. Which one would be best to get to have that rubber feeling?
Does Skinomi deliver to sweden?

Plastic chaffing on corners

Brand new s9+ day one.
Opened it to find the plastic on the corners to be unsightly and partially pealing off.
Any advice?
EU model
Send it back if you can. Or live with it. Sorry.
Puzzled here.
What parts of the phone's exterior - corners or otherwise - are made of plastic?

Not the corners themselves. There is a plastic covering them. It's unsightly, but i'll live with it
Oh, do you probably mean the protective film which was on there?
Could just peel the plastic off. It's a protective layer same as you get on front and back.
You are supposed to peel those off.

yeah you peel them off lol
Yeah those are protective coverings you have to peel them off which can be a bit tough lol
Start near the button's and drag them out with your fingernail; don't apply to much pressure, just drag it of repeatedly until you can get it.
Sent from my SM-G965F using Tapatalk
Just grab it top to bottom and pull. Best places to peel off are where the layer ends at like speaker port. Volume keys and so on. If you have big fingers and can't grip it maybe get some tweezers bit be careful not to scratch your new phone. Failing that just keep using the phone it will come off.
