What are you doing OnePlus India? - OnePlus 2 General

A true disappointed OnePlus user.
I use a OnePlus 2 and guess what ! It has been an awesome experience untill last week when my phone broke down.
OnePlus team has been very annoying when it comes to software updates these days. While every Flagship phone is updated to 6.0 marshmallow, I really don't know why OP software team is still behind pushing 5.1.1 updates on their current Flagship, The OnePlus 2.
Last week they rolled out the OxygenOs 2.2.1 update which broke my 2nd sim (no IMEI) , the fingerprint scanner and the proximity sensor. While I submitted my device to service center, I was shocked to know that my device was the 14th OnePlus 2 collected on that day for the fingerprint issue. No problem. I very well understand that OnePlus's OS is not fully optimized and hence the bugs.
I was asked to submit my phone for the inspection, after which I was told that my PBA (motherboard) was tampered due to the latest update (2.2.1).
When asked how, the team said that it was a random thing and then told me the no. Of affected devices submitted since morning (14 OnePlus 2s)
It's been 5 days and they say that my PBA would arrive in maximum of 7 more days as it is ordered from Bangalore.
This totally boggled me. I agree that India is a vast country but it should not take that long as there are excellent courrier companies like dtdc and bludart available. OnePlus should understand that we have paid for a premium device and we should get a premium after sales service. It should firstly keep a certain number of PBAs at the service centers. In case of unavailablity of PBAs at service center, the center should order the PBA on urgent basis via express deliveries. They should also share the tracking number of the same with the affected party for tracking purpose. Meanwhile OnePlus should be generous enough to give a decent dual sim standby phone.
Here, giving vague answer of delivery in next week is just not done. Especially in case of a Premium device.
Also n number of OnePlus service centers are closed down due to illegal sales of genuine parts without reciept (way to escape payment of taxes to the government). What are you doing OnePlus? And that too in a country like India which should be your biggest potential customer! Think over! IMPROVE! (Tejas P. Biwalkar - 9773939133 - [email protected])
THIS IS THE TIME TO IMPROVE OnePlus!

Oh well, I have just ordered mine (upgrade from Moto G). Hope it doesn't turn out to be a nightmare...

You guys have service centers in India? We don't have that in the US.

They'll send them to China.
Did you try reflashing the update before submitting? These customs care centers or respiratory center idiots try to steal us. Ask him for the old board if it's not in warranty. If you pay money for it, you have the every right to take your old board. Also, I once had problem with my Sony, when I took to repair center they said the same, your hardware is broken and needs to be replaced, it'll take 8k RS to replace it. But then I reflashed the recent update and it fixed it. Damn. I know right?

Broke screen and replacing it for ₹7000 is not worth. Hence bought OnePlus Two! Hope we'll get boost in development as soon as OnePlus releases sources for FP and LAF

I guess things work different there. Often times, we don't fix phones part by part, support here tends to just replace the whole phone. It's that way with pretty much every phone manufacturer and carrier in the US.

I am also a OnePlus 2 owner from India. OP 2 is my first phone from OP. I live in Darjeeling and here people don't own much phone with fingerprint scanner and only few geeks like me knows about OnePlus company. One day my friend got LeTV (LeEco) Le 1s handset so he wanted to checkout software of my OP2 so when I tried to unlock my OP2 with fingerprint but even after trying for 5 times it didn't unlock so I had to unlock it manually with pin. He unlocked his Rs. 10000/- phone with his wet finger in one try. I didn't talk about my OP2 price and about OP anymore with him.

THANKS

Shout out to ASUS customer service

For all the negative posts I have seen since the prime came out, I just want to give credit where credit is due.
My prime crashed and burned hard after the ICS update; i had the non stop rebooting issues and the prime had turned into a brick.
I received a private message on the XDA forums from the customer service rep asking if he could contact me. At first they asked that I send my unit in so that it could be used for R&D on the issue, and they would send me a new unit once it was received. I objected not wanting to wait 3 weeks for a working unit.
I was then passed a long to a product manager who worked with me on the phone to get a new unit sent to me over night if i signed a legal form that guaranteed I would return my broken unit to them in 14 days.
They also asked if I would like them to open the unit, install ICS, verify all parts are working including the lack of a screen bleed before sending it out. I agreed.
Just wanted to give them proper due, that is amazing customer service, to find me on an end user forum and offer me an exchange. I went from never wanting to buy an Asus product again to them having a lifelong customer.
That's the way it is done.
Nice to hear such a positive story. People tend to forget only bad stories come to these forums normally.
I would like to know about this "mysterious" Asus person as well because my TP has been a brick since ICS update as well. It is permanently stuck at the "gears with exclamation" screen.
Oh I love Asus customer service. They are, after all, the people cleaning up after Asus engineers and whatnot have messed a lot of things up.

This is really great that Asus actually read the forum and providing help on it (although they should have really test their code and prevent this from happening.. at the end it is the first HC -> ICS OTA upgrade in the world)
Hopefully it is just the upgrade code that is causing issue, I believe once they actually release the full recovery zip, people can download that and run a clean install.
That's great- congrats. I got treated like garbage by the ASUS Customer Service team-twice. They refused to replace my tablet- they flat out told me nothing was wrong with it despite the fact that it has never been able to receive an OTA update and can't be rooted.
So they're still on my sh*t list.

How do we know you're not some Asus rep trying to save face. The only way to prove this is if that same rep offer to fix my GPS issue. Or at least offer to take mine back for a full refund. That's all I ask. If he don't contact me, then this is bull****.

Google not Replying to defect inquires regarding screen freeze Should demand a Recall

https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/nexus/MP7ODWyR62Y
This is the link to the Google help forum. Anyone with a Nexus 9, new or old, should take some time to read about the ticking time bomb Google and HTC have sold us.
This issue is becoming far to widespread, yet HTC pretends they've never heard of the issue when you call them and Google refuses to reply to any of the comments in their own help forum. Many Nexus 9's a now past warranty meaning that you, the consumer will be on the hook to repair an issue that both Google and HTC and fully aware of and yet refuse to acknowledge.
I think we need to start making noise on this to set a precedent with Google that it's not okay to be aware of a defect yet not recall, or even acknowledge, that it's happening.
How do we get started on this?
Happened to mine last summer. Had to deal with tech support for two weeks before they agreed to fix it under warranty. Of course I had to pay the shipping.
This is definitely an issue that needs to be addressed.
I got excellent service from Google - I filled in the form mentioned by John Paul D - https://productforums.google.com/fo...;context-place=topicsearchin/nexus/hallergard

Yeah, Google is fantastic and is now exchanging these up to two years from date of purchase for this hardware failure. For those of us who purchased from retail however, we are left at the mercy of HTC's 12 month lots of hassle warranty. You have a Google N9, I have a Google N9, Google is clearly aware of this being a very widespread hardware defect, yet no recall. IF we bought from retail and the manufacturing defect doesn't occur until after 12 months, you are SOL.
For the record, mine was exchanged, not by HTC (way too much hassle) but by the nice manager at the local BestBuy on condition that I purchased the Geek Squad no questions asked 2 year exchange warranty. Honestly that's the only way I would own this after my experience with HTC. If it dies, I can put it on the counter at best buy and grab a new one.
Min started doing this about 6 months ago while it was still under warranty... but due to crazy life, I only got around to checking on it now I got mine at Best buy, and it looks like HTC wants $140 - $200 to fix it. just chiming in to let others know that this is a REAL issue, and HTC really should do something about it.

Typical ZTE with their lousy QC...

I should have known better than to buy another ZTE phone!! It won't charge anymore!! I only charged it twice since I got the damn thing... it's not the cable or the charger because I also have an Anker charger and power bank along with a OnePlus 3 and it's cable and charger for reference... What a load of crap, the last ZTE phone I had fail on my family me was three months ago when the capacitive keys stopped working, that phone was brand new from MetroPCS too... Stay away from this phone, I'm glad that I kept my OnePlus 3 just in case I didn't want to jump ship...

Who's talking about customer service here? I'm talking about quality control... I bought my Axon 7 using Amazon Prime, UPS should pick it up today or Monday, and the refund is already processing, no worries. With OnePlus or any other PayPal purchase, I go straight to PayPal and open a dispute demanding a refund,no worries there either...
I was so hyped for the Axon 7, I was already regretting jumping the gun with the OnePlus 3, but I should've known better... I realize liked a the value, features, and attention to detail ZTE showed, but their QC is still trash... I also need root for my general and YouTube ad blockers, I can't be without them, looks like the ZTE xda&oq developer will be nothing but tumbleweeds yet again...

I don't understand why you are blaming QC all they do is inspect the phone after it is built there is supposed to be a Technician that tests it before it gets to QC but his job is to make sure it is functioning properly. The battery can't be checked to see if it is going to fail after so many charges that's an unknown issue. It really sucks when it fails not long after you get it that is something I agree with you on just saying not a QC issue and no I'm not a QC person I spent my entire career as a electronic technician the battery was built buy some other company not ZTE
The phone isn't even actually out yet, most pre-orders haven't shipped. Yet you are complaining about the phone not having root yet? What the heck do you expect?
Sorry you got a lemon man. I have mine and it's wonderful. No issues here at all.

Mine seems solid so far. Seems like you could get it repaired/replaced via Passport 2.0 though.
Edit - ZTE's support can't be much worse than Lenovorola.
A user on ZTE Community had his camera fail and his dealings with customer service sounded terrible. They wanted to charge him a holding fee of $400 for an advanced replacement. Also mentioned getting charged $79 for the passport fee on a defectice device.

I know it suck when this stuff happens, I'd be pissed also. But you can get a lemon from anyone. Amazon is great to deal with so an exchange shouldn't be an issue. Or just return it and be done with ZTE, up to you.
But other are happy with the Axons 7 so I'm still willing to give them a shot.

I remember when the Moto X Pure came out - I sent 3 back for lose, or missing, pieces and the back peeling off. One had some pixel issues as well.
Then when the Nexus 6P came out - I sent 4 of those back for QC issues. 1) Low speaker volume and crackling 2) camera not working 3) One speaker stopped working 4) something sounded lose inside when I shook it. My 5th one wasn't flawless either, but it was better than the other 4.
I sent my first OnePlus 2 back because the captive keys and home button didn't work properly, you'd have to press them several times to get it to respond.
Only phones I haven't had QC issues with were the Samsung phones, but I hate everything about them (except the screen and camera). Even my last iPhone (I think in 2012) had QC issues and I had to get it replaced due to the mic dying.
But it does worry me a little to see the low number of people on this forum and so many issues? Luckily mine have all been software compatibility issues that a reset will solve.
I wouldn't say there are a lot of issues. I've just heard about the camera and Dolby crashing plus a Wifi issue and that's going between here and ZTE Community.
Other than those, there are just a few small bugs looming about.

Putting "a hold" on your credit card, to insure that you actually do mail back the broken phone is not the same as "charging you $400". It is also standard practice for many manufacturers to do this, so random people aren't just calling, claiming a faulty device, and receiving free new phones in the mail without ever mailing back the broken one. A business must look after their bottom line.

My Samsung Galaxy Note 3 had the physical home button die within the first few weeks, and I had to send it back for repair. It can happen to any manufacturer. I really hope mine isn't faulty. Always a big let-down if you're excited for a new device. However, if it is, I'll just return it and move on.
When did Q and A section became ***** and moan section. You have a chance of getting a defective item with any vendor and any brand. Return it and move on.

The heat is on the charger this time. Even when fast charging feature is disabled. I'd expect the charger to get warm. Though my Note7 has already been replaced and firmware updated, I still disable fast charging to keep the battery from stress.

No, aside from the (still relatively small) number of fire incidents that has since been resolved with the recall, this product has no more issues than ANY other phone. It just has endless dumb journalists who jump on the hype bandwagon reporting anything that might just connect the story to a Samsung device, blowing it completely out of proportion just to get viewers/readers/clicks. All that achieves is endless knee jerk reactions from the ignorant authorities and technology illiterate public.
Even on XDA people generally come here to vent frustration about either hardware/software issues on their particular device (that's every phone XDA caters for) or to complain about a manufacturer of said device. Giving the impression that their phone is just a complete failure.
Stop worrying about news reports, enjoy your phone. In the very unlikely event you get a dud, get it replaced or refunded. Importantly, come back here and let people know how great it is! It's an awesome phone!
Eventually all this BS scare mongering will die down and we can put it behind us.

Here, here!
It is a shame, this amazing device will not get to people who could have had a great Smartphone. But this means the next Note will really be worth waiting for. The Note 7 will be the first device that my wife and I both have, she asked for it when she saw what you can do with the S Pen and digital paint.
Got my replacement today. Can't find the display scaling option in the updated firmware for the life of me.

I'm sure there used to be an option for changing dpi, the same as what nougat has.

I would not buy it again.
ColorOS is really bad.
You can't have more than 5 apps starting up.
ColorOS disables apps.
Support is really bad.
There is no other rom to to put on
The phone it's self is great, but that's where the good things about it end.

i think it's worth to buy it, the kernel source code just released and it's gonna be custom development in near time.
I Stongly advise against it (take notice) they are charging £799, I paid £500 ok it was the chinese version. However ColorOS is painfully bad, development despite the kernel source being available will be non existent, as the bootloader needs unlocked, this as yet can't be done without the deep test which is impossible.
It's by design one of the best I have owned, but I sold and bought the Vivo Nex S, which is way better and again only paid £500.
Don't say you weren't warned ......buy at your own risk and at £799 well that's quite the risk...
Have fun......

Thank you, your input is quite insightful.
Not to mention you may have saved me money, good'o
I have the international version and my previous phone was a iPhone. I am not into development so the issues that some raise do not concern me. I am even too scared to change my theme to the ones advertised on this forum as I might mess something up. For me the phone is great, it ticks all the boxes and looks amazing. The only gripe I have is that on the international version which I own the theme store is not enabled. Hopefully they will enable it soon. I also like that not many have it, so it's unique, but that is also a bad thing as the aftermarket support as far as repairs and cases excreta are very limited. Would I buy again? Yes.
I have the UK version (my third FX) and can confirm it still has all the notification issues as usual.
Hi, anyone from UK. If you see this. DON'T BUY ANY PHONE FROM OPPO.
