I would not buy it again.
ColorOS is really bad.
You can't have more than 5 apps starting up.
ColorOS disables apps.
Support is really bad.
There is no other rom to to put on
The phone it's self is great, but that's where the good things about it end.

i think it's worth to buy it, the kernel source code just released and it's gonna be custom development in near time.

I Stongly advise against it (take notice) they are charging £799, I paid £500 ok it was the chinese version. However ColorOS is painfully bad, development despite the kernel source being available will be non existent, as the bootloader needs unlocked, this as yet can't be done without the deep test which is impossible.
It's by design one of the best I have owned, but I sold and bought the Vivo Nex S, which is way better and again only paid £500.
Don't say you weren't warned ......buy at your own risk and at £799 well that's quite the risk...
Have fun......

Thank you, your input is quite insightful.
Not to mention you may have saved me money, good'o

I have the international version and my previous phone was a iPhone. I am not into development so the issues that some raise do not concern me. I am even too scared to change my theme to the ones advertised on this forum as I might mess something up. For me the phone is great, it ticks all the boxes and looks amazing. The only gripe I have is that on the international version which I own the theme store is not enabled. Hopefully they will enable it soon. I also like that not many have it, so it's unique, but that is also a bad thing as the aftermarket support as far as repairs and cases excreta are very limited. Would I buy again? Yes.

I have the UK version (my third FX) and can confirm it still has all the notification issues as usual.

Hi, anyone from UK. If you see this. DON'T BUY ANY PHONE FROM OPPO.

[Q] ZU Owners - good value at £250?

So I tragically lost my dear M7 One. I'm scouting around for a replacement, and I realize these can be had for like £250, which is so much cheaper than anything else from 2013 (heck, it's cheaper than some 2012 flagships). I'm guessing Sony just made way too many and can't sell them but - is this a good buy? At that price, it seems excellent (apart from the terrible camera, I can live with that).
As a bonus question - easy to unlock/flash CM onto? And the CM11 monthlies are now all good? Thanks all

One thing for sure, once you go big it will be hard to return to small screen. and yeah that is pretty much a bargain if you can get one. So much power for such a small price. The only consideration might be to keep it alive after 2 years i.e. While battery spare part last.
To be honest, stock Sony ROM is still better than pure AOSP. Not that pure one isn't good but just lack all the subtle feature that Sony managed to inject without overflowing the UI.
Sent from my C6802 using XDA Free mobile app
Absolutely. I paid around $1000 when it got released, and I ain't even mad. Worth it then, and absolutely worth the 250 now.
Hmm, I'm feeling more and more sold on this. You'd definitely recommend leaving the stock on over CM? I'm not a heavy enough user of CM to absolutely require it, just preferred it over overly-skinned carrier roms.

Got one last week for £250 and it's well worth it. My only fear is that I'll never be able to use a smaller phone again.
I've usually got a custom rom on my phone the day I receive it but have stuck with stock as it's so good.
My only disappointment was I received an invite for a oneplus one for £269 two days after I received this, but have convinced my partner to buy it.
Go on buy it, you won't regret it!

Well...there is one rom that popped up here at the forum a few weeks ago. Candy rom. This is the only DAMN ****ING awesome rom that I have ever flashed on this device that really blew my mind away! This rom is the definition to perfect. Just like the Runnemede rom for HTC Desire back in the days.
Here's the link

I'm not making commercial for Candyrom but this rom just blew my mind away..
Oh btw... I have had my device for about a year now. And it feels like its still brand new Its well worth the manaay!
Yep I would do it still, as lordmanhattan said we paid a good chunk of dosh (no I won't tell SWMBO the current prices). I paid ~$900 for my first one and the the second I got for ~$400 second hand, they can be had new for about that now.

I kind of thought that this would happen. I mean, this is their (Huawei's) first venture into the U.S. phone market. They could screw over their entire fan base, or just update the phone. They made the right move.
I wonder just how fugly Huawei L will be...

In this case, I'm less concerned about the phone being good without the update (it is) as I am about whether I should believe any announcement Huawei makes. Further, did they actually learn anything, or is it always going to take public pressure for them to do what they promise in the future? I've already purchased this phone, but their actions for the next year or so will dictate whether I purchase another Huawei product.

I agree, I couldn't have said it better myself and I own a Huawei Ascend Mate 2 as well. Its a nice phablet, but its only a 4 start $300 phablet with the Android updates, otherwise its really not worth it to me. Hopefully Huawei does update the HAM2 to Android 5.0.

I am not holding my breath. So many companies have promised vapourware for my earlier phones. It is just not worth it for them to update any phone. Why update when they could announce a new model? Phone turnover is the money maker for them. Hell I paid $199 for a unlocked phone that rocks, yes it has a two year old os, but it is stable, great battery, 4g LTE , lots of memory etc. I will get my moneys worth out of it. Hell I paid more for a Motorolattriupmh and used it till it died. One happy mate2 owner update or no!

The thing is, those other companies are probably bigger, are they not? They have more money for advertising etc., so they can rely on pumping out new phones. But Huawei doesn't have the reputation to do that, at least not in the US.
And if they change their minds about this update, they're going to get so much backlash AGAIN. I don't think they would want that.

I, for one, will let others be the early adopters of this upgrade, when and if it becomes available! If, after a few weeks, it seems stable and reliable, I might try it.
Won't really matter to me one bit. If it never gets an update, I'm keeping it.
4.3 is flat stable, and I'll take that over the newest OS any day.
I'm sure 5.0 will do nothing but improve the HAM2, but, I'm sure it will have to
be patched a few times to work out the inevitable bugs. Bless the ones that will
jump at the alpha, beta versions, leaks etc...but once it is released, I'll let you early
adopters play with it. This thing is my work device away from the office, and I don't
have time for FC's & reboots.
There outta be some kind of medal for you guys that flash the newest OS... :good:
I know some of you don't care if you're still using froyo, but...
JB isn't terribly efficient or stable. It's really one of the more bloated releases out there.
The changes implemented in KK really can make our great battery life even better and bring RAM utilization down, and implementing the ART run-time for Lollipop will make apps run faster (as much as 4x faster). Done.
We're getting a lot more than a fancy interface here.

Theoretically, everything you say is correct, and if it turns out to work that way in reality, I'll welcome the upgrade, when and if it comes. But I've been burned in the past by upgrades, so I'll be very happy to hold back while you go first and find out if there are any nasty surprises lurking behind that fancy interface.
I like what I've seen of Lollipop so far, but if it doesn't work well on this phone, I'll be perfectly content to stick with JellyBean and have a phone that actually works.
Thinking Of Buying
Hey all new user here.
I am thinking about picking up the Huawei Ascend Mate 2 on Friday. But I to am concerned about if we will actually see the 5.0 (or subsequent updates). It seems that there is a lack of CyanogenMod support for this device and or custom roms. What do you guys think? If we don't see the 5.0 update what do you think the availability of CM12 for this device will be?
Just trying to determine how big a gamble I am taking by grabbing this in regards to future support. Let me know your thoughts

If you want a device that WORKS, is STABLE, has an incredible battery life, then get the Mate2. If it never gets an update, it won't bother me.
For my use, unless a software program gets updated that will not work with the Mate2 as it stands now, or, adds features that I would use,
I'm quite happy with the performance as it stands now.
If you are of the type, that craves the latest OS, or hardware, then the Mate7 might be a better option, or, the OnePlus One, which is similar
in price.

So, clearly, Huawei is delaying until the 11th hour

Huawei informed us last year that they'll be releasing Lollipop in the second quarter of 2015. 5 months and 3 days have already passed and if wasn't for a glimpse they provided some months ago, I would have found it difficult that our HAM2 will ever be updated.
I received my 1+1 about a month ago and tried Lollipop on it. I am not particularly impressed by Lollipop. I had to reinstall kitkat. Lollipop is over-simplified and has lots of white.
Clearly, Huawei is slow at deploying Lollipop. That is true. It sounds like you really don't care though. You seem to prefer KitKat. Not sure why you started this thread.

Huawei had promised to release Kitkat. They retracted. Then they promised Lollipop. Even though I'm not a Lollipop fan, it provides the option of having the latest android OS on your phone. So, there's no harm in that.

I got ya. I agree. I am still hopeful they release Lollipop soon. They aren't the best at this kind of stuff though. Their track record is fairly poor related to supporting existing devices. I think they are trying to be better, though. Time will tell.
Android L is meant to be released on the Asian Mate 2's on July 2nd. I think it is unlikely that it will be released for the US version before this, but if it doesn't come out for you guys on the 2nd July, I would contact Huawei and moan like Hell. Unfortunately I have seen NOTHING about a release date for the MT2-L03.
I asked them on Instagram and got the usual "Thank you, we don't know anything, we'll tell you something when nothing does everything." kind of comment.

The Asian HAM2 is a completely different phone internally, there is no reason to believe the development paths or release schedules would be in any way similar for both devices.
After over half a year of vague promises (and a worthless 'beta program' website) from Huawei USA I wouldn't expect an upgrade to Lollipop for the MT2-L03 - I honestly think they were just stringing everyone along and trying to quieten the uproar among HAM2 users that was happening at the time. I'm hoping I'm wrong, but I bet I'm not.
In the meantime I'm still trucking along on my HAM2, but I am looking at possible replacements. Most notably the new Alcatel Idol 3 looks really really impressive for the price.

Yes, thanks. I'm well aware that they have different hardware.
I said to moan as US customers were told an update would be released in the first quarter of the year..... That hasn't happened.
I'll get flamed again, but even if they did release an update, it would be hard for me to upgrade unless some feature of software took advantage of the update. 4.3 WORKS. Turn it on and use it, don't have to reboot it. Yes, if there are security bugs, that's one thing, but if your device works as delivered, I'm more of a leave it alone, new doesn't always mean better, just new type of person.

I actually bought the 1+1 after reading rave reviews about it almost everywhere. I initially intended to keep the 1+1 and give my dad my HAM2. For some reason, the mate 2 was too good to give up. It has everything I want in a phone; large screen, very long battery life, fast, smooth transitions and most importantly it doesn't get hot like a stove. Anyway, at the end, I kept the HAM2 and gave my dad the 1+1. Seriously, I gave up the 1+1 with all its laudatory specs for the HAM2 and I have no regrets.
This phone's screen is too freaking big for me. I already have a tablet, don't need another one thanks. Unfortunately I can't afford to upgrade it right now so I'm stuck with it. And now Xposed broke so now I'm stuck with the ugly grey nav bar and enormous DPI. (EDIT: Nvm, I fixed that.) Seriously, why did Huawei artificially raise the DPI, the native 240 looks so much better than the stock 320, makes everything look much smaller and crisper and gives you more real estate.
I just want Lollipop. Then I'll see if it's worth keeping this phone or if I should make upgrading a priority.
At least the battery life is nice, but that's about all I can say is going for this phone, and I'm willing to bet in part that's because of the lower res (720p) screen.

The lack of root is the only thing keeping me from getting this with the Best Buy deal

Glad I'm not the only one. I traded in for the V20 but it has to be shipped first and I'd much rather keep the G6.. Awesome phone.

I don't know what changed. It seems like there's a new push to lock down Android, it might have to do with Android Pay. It's really a shame. I don't understand the lack of people looking for exploits. Maybe they just aren't posting about it like they used to.

Google has created nearly as much of a "walled-garden" as Apple have. Clearly the "security" concerns of the extreme few have caused quite a panic and nearly all of the major manufacturers have locked down their bootloaders and exploits are being punished legally in some cases. Crazy considering it is all based around "open source" code.
VZW is by far the worse offender and I am only on their network because the others all suck in my area. Not that it matters anymore since practically none of them have rootable devices. Unfortunately the best bet this year is the headphone jackless HTC U11 for a whopping $650 for the unlocked, bootloader mod-allowed version.
Has any one tried Kingo Root?
https://www.kingoapp.com/bootloader-unlock/how-to-unlock-lg-bootloader-on-android-device.htm
I may look into it later this week. I have a few things to try.
What a shame. This phone is fantastic, the LG V20 just showed up for me to pick up and I find myself reluctant to pick it up. I know it has root, as I roofed it for my boyfriend, after extreme difficulty it worked but all the custom ROMs for it made it where he can't receive texts or calls. Haven't gone looking for the fix yet. I may wait.
Crossing my fingers at the above post. You'd be my saving Grace. (;
---------- Post added at 07:18 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:12 PM ----------
Oh and for KingORoot, you need to ask for the OEM unlock code through LG but this phone isn't apart of their available devices. Exploit please!
I fixed his V20, now is rooted with custom ROM and calling and text officially work. Is it enough for me to give up my G6 for root? Still reluctant. Yes, that's how good it is.
Autoprime just posted in the main G6 dev area, it sounds like he is doing a bit of poking at the platform.
It doesn't directly help vs988, but any sign of an experienced developer working the G6 is great.

Life is Good…. Apparently only in Korea

I always been a big fun of HTC, but when I dropped my Samsung, I was shopping for the phone with good battery life. U11 came out at the same time but was nothing excited about it and I looked at LG G6. No doubt, it was a great looking phone, probably the best looking no-bezel phone at the time of it’s release. Awesome battery life and only $599
So… I got one from HK. It came with all toys including large memory 64Gb of RAM and Quad DAC audio processing. But no wireless charging. Its for US market only. Smart people at LG probably thought it’s a great idea to give SEA customers more RAM because their songs are longer. Someone must’ve spent lot’s of money on this research. US model came with no Quad DAC…
So now one year later, my phone sitting with September 2017 security update. Indian model had March update already. Again, LG must think there is a reason to secure this particular region more than HK. Who will hack anything in HK one may ask?
Just before releasing LG7, LG creates software update center to ensure updates and updates Korean version just before LG7 is released with another gimmick called ThinQ. And yes, it’s not even Oreo 8.1
So will you upgrade to G7, which cost almost $1000, has nothing to offer other than AI (which was promised to be on 8.0 update for G6, but isn’t) Will you buy any of LG phones? You guess my answer…
I love my G6, I can run it almost 2 days, wide lens camera is awesome, but I do not have phone which manufacture will obsolete in less than 1 year.
Luckily HTC U12 will be out at the end of the month, I can wait.
I can wait for OnePlus 6 as well..

Or you can just wait another couple of monts and get the oreo update...
And when you buy the phone you know it have no wireless charger, or not?
I don't know why people use xda only for complaining, never a solution. And I don't speak about your particular situation, but in general. Some of mine last phone was oneplus 3t and nexus 6, and people complain about update also on them. Thing like 'OMG yesterday pixel 2 got this and we not, why, cry...' or 'never another oneplus because....' all the time.
I normally choose a phone because I like it, if I don't I buy something else.
If I buy a thing and after some time I write on the forums that this thing is horrible, I think I will appear dumb...
Nothing personal, just my two cents.
No Way I do the same mistake and buy an LG phone again! Very bad supporr.
This company does not respect their costumers
Nah I'm getting a Pixel or OnePlus in a few years. LG is getting bad. I don't like the software skin either.

+1 but you just got ignored, they're still complaining
Maybe they ignored because it is a fanboy comment that is saying "oh who cares, who needs support anyway?"
This is pathetic, even the s7 has oreo now

Fact is that G5 received more updates (and it's actually more up to date here in Europe) than G6 in the same window of time, this is not a predictable thing, moreover when G5 was one of the first devices to receive Nougat.

You are right, that is a big problem, we can cry together until LG do something.
In your list of reasons why you bought the phone was there any though given to the update frequency? Yes, because lg said that the device was to get updates on par with the other devices released at the time. Google is getting ready to drop Android P and we're still on 7 that in itself is reason enough to be disappointed in lg. I think I'm still on the Dec patch. They can't even get those to us with some reliability. Then there's the locked versions where you can't root the thing and do it yourself if nothing else.
Oreo is here also for h873, is coming for everyone, maybe all this kids tears was listened?
