Snapchat problems. Anyone else? - T-Mobile LG V10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Sooo is anyone else having problems with snapchat on their V10 with the focusing and with the face filters not applying right? Seems as though the face filters can't scan my face properly most of the time and the focusing never wants to stay focused.

[Q] Camera Issues...

I have noticed a few small issues with my phone and was curious if anyone else was experiencing the same issues or not.
First off it appears dust has settled behind the glass on the front facing camera, doesn't seem to effect the picture, but still annoying.
And as for my second issue, it involves the main camera. Some of the pictures I take, probably every 4th or 5th image, ends up as a broken file, unreadable by the phone or my computer. They show up in the phones image library, but I am unable to view them, and when I attempt to view them on the computer, i get this message "Windows Photo Viewer can't display this picture because the file is empty."
Is anyone else experiencing either of these issues?

Snapchat on Galaxy S6 buggy as hell

Not sure if anyone else experiences this but snapchat is so very buggy, as example I'll take a photo then when I go to type a caption my whole phone freezes causing the rest of the phone to flip out, also happens in chat. Doesn't happen every time but it's very often.

Strange lag with camera previews before taking photos

Hello,
This issue seems to have appeared recently on my device, without any particular explanation. It can be potentially be related to Photo Analyzer being disabled from the apps, but that is supposed to increase speed, not introduce lag.
The issue is that my image preview has very low fps in both Superior Auto and Manual modes. What's hilarious is that when I switch to Video mode - the lag disappears and the preview is quite smooth. Not perfect, but acceptable, and just like my photo previews used to perform in the past.
Furthermore, this lag appears only when I move the camera. If I stop moving, the next following seconds there is no lag. The lag appears once the camera detects movement. Then the little stick man walking icon appears in the lower right section of the screen, which seems to be related to the appearance of the lag.
I've tried resolving this via options, by stopping the extra settings like HDR, reducing the resolution to 8MP and clearing the camera app cache. Nothing has really helped so far and the issue is quite strange.
Any ideas on why this might occur and how to solve it? Having a Sony phone is probably the best thing for people who like to investigate problems on a daily basis. :silly:
EDIT: Just wanted to let you know, using other 3rd party apps results in no lag whatsoever. Open Camera seems to be working perfectly fine (except not detecting 20MP reso for photos for some reason).
Overall, there seems to be a problem with the specific Sony camera that I have not been able to resolve yet.
Hey, just wanted to add that clearing data from the Camera app settings resolved this issue. After doing it and re-launching the app, it no longer lags when watching the preview. This seems to be the only solution that helped me. I can speculate that disabling the Photo Analyzer did something, and clearing data resolved it. Disabling Photo Analyzer should definitely speed up the time between taking photos. Photo analyzer eats up some resources by trying to detect faces and locations, then relate them to your contacts so that photos can be sorted by the people in them. If you do not need this, disable it and clear your camera data and cache. Time between taking photos now is not instant, but is definitely significantly faster. Also, the camera app itself opens up very fast, almost instantly, INCLUDING when I activate it from the button when the phone is sleeping.

autofocus broken?

In snapchat it almost sounds like a vibration of the autofocus continuously trying to focus in and out. It never really gets a proper focus. Even in regular camera. Any ideas how to fix this without getting an exchange?

can't offer any help, but will add I have the same problem from time to time. I have yet had it happen in the camera app. I see the problem in SnapChat and another app I use to scan barcodes. I normally force stop the app and try again.

Face Recognition Issues

Is anyone having any problems with facial recognition? I can set up my look (and alternate look) and literally keep my phone in the same place it was when registering my face, and it will give me a 'Face doesn't match' error when I try to unlock the screen. Occasionally it works but its definitely less than 50% of the time.
1) I have a screen protector on the phone but there is a cutout for the front camera.
2) I have verified via the camera app (and during face registration) that there's no debris blocking the lens.
3) I've tried various lighting and it doesn't make any difference.
4) I found a site that suggested clearing app data / cache for 'Face Unlock' but I'm not seeing that app in my app list. I scrolled through the whole list and didn't see anything that seemed to indicate that it was related to face unlock.
I'm coming from a Pixel 4, OnePlus 6T, and tested an iPhone 12 and never had any issues with those phones. I understand that they may be using some more advanced camera / infrared tech to detect the face, however, I don't understand how I can register my face and, without moving the phone immediately try to unlock it, and it fails.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can try?
Thanks!
I come from a Pixel 4Xl and compared to that the s21 ultra face recognition is really poor, I do realise that the pixel has the sensor, but the s21 is just a shame ATM. Hope they fix it.
Otherwise I'll disable it as the fingerprint is OK .
