A question of ROMS - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi All.
This question may seem trivial, and I've searched high and low for an answer but couldn't find one.
I have an Oppo R7g. This is running ColorOS version 2.1.0i and on android version 5.1.1.
In short I would like to install the Marshmallow release of android onto the phone, in effect replacing ColorOS. I have managed to Root my phone using the Oppotools and now I am looking around for the ROM. But I can't seem to find one.
I was surprised that there wasn't a release from Google that I could use. When googling for this I found the below link that links to factory images for nexus devices. It seemed like there was a different image per version for each device. This isn't what I expected. When I want to install windows or Ubuntu on my laptop I dont need to seek a particular version for my specific build of laptop. Is this different for phones?
What would happen if I took the latest Nexus 5X image and put it on my phone Oppo R7?
Thanks
Will

BLUBOO Picasso 3G - Android 6.0 update?

Hello!
I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to android development, but since BLUBOO pulled their Android 6.0 update for their 5.1 Picasso 3G phone, I was wondering if a port would be at all possible? I found many guides on the internet but I've bricked a few phones in the past and thought I would ask to see if anyone else has tried/achieved this at all.
I found a ROM that the Picasso 4G uses that is a 6.0 rom - Would this be okay to port or am I going to overwrite the bootloader or whatever I did to my last phone and have another brick to add to my collection, lol?

I know, this thread might be dead for a long time, but since I stumbled upon this thread in order to resurrect my good ol' Picasso, there might be people finding this interesting:
on 4pda, there can be found some custom roms for the Bluboo Picasso 3g. There is also a 6.0-Rom.

"I would like to add that the work is not mine, all the credits and thanks to the guys at the 4pda Russian forum. I'm just sharing it because this was picking up dust in the cloud".
Any chance somebody can share sources for this phone? I am trying to build a fresh ROM for the phone.
bernavaldiesel1, thanks a million man, I've been looking for the working twrp for ages

Have Android O or Android P been ported to the SpreadTrum SC9853i-IA SoC?

Hi Everyone,
The title says it all: I own a Leagoo T5c running a SpreadTrum SoC, the SC9853i-IA, and so far, I've been able to flash a new ROM once, one still based on Nougat that was released in March of 2018, and a quick trip to the manufacturer's website informed me that it was the latest stable release as Leagoo recognizes it.
(Granted, there are newer ROMs on NeedRom, but a) I don't know where they come from (meaning, I'm not sure they're clean), and b) you've got to pay to download them)
Hence my question: do any of you know of newer ROMs based on either Oreo or (let's go crazy!) Pie? If the answer's yes, then where can I find them? I've Googled the subject and got nowhere.

Help updating tablet's OS.

Good Evening/Hello/Hi,
I own a Huawei MediaPad 10 Link Plus(16 GB) and I am running stock OS (Android 4.2), unrooted. I am a total stranger when it comes to upgrading OS through bootloader, but I have successfully rooted a phone once, a very long time ago ( but I had no idea what it did and I don't remember how) . So I would like to ask for help on how to upgrade tablet's OS to the newest version that is possible on this device ( I mean it's got 1 gig of ram and a quad core cpu, we can get more juice out of it can we?). I can find a bunch of useful information here, but it seems I am having a hard time finding specifly what I need to accomplish my task. I know that the newest version that's officially possible is Android 4.2, but an unofficial version can be even higher right? The stock OS seems to be super laggy and filled with bloatware and an ugly UI.
I would like that the new OS would be as close to stock Android as possible.
Thank You
I tried to find a custom ROM, but it seems as if there are none really. I also read somewhere that it is not possible to even root the device, so you may have hit a bit of a roadblock. The best thing you can do is install a custom recovery and try to build your own ROM (I know, I know). You'd have to do quite a bit of work since there aren't many files available out there for the device.

(Solved) Assistance in finding help in finding a legit copy of the Lenovo Tab M8 FHD Android 9 firmware.

I was recently gifted a lovely Lenovo Tab M8 FHD tabled, and while the hardware and overall design is very spiffy, Android 10 is absolutely horrible on it. Android 10 is using up massive amount of resources, has some real bad optimization issues and it's just bad in general. I checked the official Lenovo forums and there are tons of threads about how the Android 10 OTA update that was not announced or anything has caused issues with their devices. I read both on there multiple times, and in a thread on here that it's possible to use the Lenovo rescue and recovery tool to install Android 9 through putting the old rom in a folder that has the name of the most up to date rom. I found two separate roms with the same name, if slightly different file sizes while I was combing through the internet, and while I tried to use both to get Android 9 on my device, neither worked. So, I am hoping and praying that someone on xda can give me some badly needed help with a link or even vague directions toward where I can get the firmware I so seek. I am rambling on a bit and I do apologize for that, but I can sincerely say that it would be a big weight off my metaphorical chest if I could get some help with this. Thanks for reading my post. Also, I apologize if I mixed up rom and firmware at times.
Just got Tab M8 FHD and decided to give Android 9 a try since tablet is more laggy than I though.
I got rom from https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/lenovo/Tab_M8_FHD/TB-8705F/
Flashed it with SP_Flash_Tool, using the Download agent MTK_AllInOne_DA_6765.bin (found in the archive with the ROM) (I disabled "Check LIB DA match" in Flash tool options).
Rom TB-8705F_S100099_200706_BMP.zip is Android 9. Got Magisk and EdXposed running.
Maybe it's just in my mind but it does seem faster than Android 10 - well at least when scrolling through menus or browsing Play Store. Overall performance is probably the same so downgrading won't make games / apps run smoother.

After you installed Android 9, did you have to use the disbale vbmeta method like they did in Android 10 to get root or did you have to use another method?

I bought this table last year Huawei MediaPad T10 AGS3-l09, already in the beginner, i note that it was not possible to install all Google components but i use different tools and it was ok.
Now, i no receive any updates so i decided to change rom if possible, at the moment it is installed on Android 10, i would like tu upgrade the rom with a new android version and include all google components.
