(Solved) Assistance in finding help in finding a legit copy of the Lenovo Tab M8 FHD Android 9 firmware. - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was recently gifted a lovely Lenovo Tab M8 FHD tabled, and while the hardware and overall design is very spiffy, Android 10 is absolutely horrible on it. Android 10 is using up massive amount of resources, has some real bad optimization issues and it's just bad in general. I checked the official Lenovo forums and there are tons of threads about how the Android 10 OTA update that was not announced or anything has caused issues with their devices. I read both on there multiple times, and in a thread on here that it's possible to use the Lenovo rescue and recovery tool to install Android 9 through putting the old rom in a folder that has the name of the most up to date rom. I found two separate roms with the same name, if slightly different file sizes while I was combing through the internet, and while I tried to use both to get Android 9 on my device, neither worked. So, I am hoping and praying that someone on xda can give me some badly needed help with a link or even vague directions toward where I can get the firmware I so seek. I am rambling on a bit and I do apologize for that, but I can sincerely say that it would be a big weight off my metaphorical chest if I could get some help with this. Thanks for reading my post. Also, I apologize if I mixed up rom and firmware at times.

Just got Tab M8 FHD and decided to give Android 9 a try since tablet is more laggy than I though.
I got rom from https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/lenovo/Tab_M8_FHD/TB-8705F/
Flashed it with SP_Flash_Tool, using the Download agent MTK_AllInOne_DA_6765.bin (found in the archive with the ROM) (I disabled "Check LIB DA match" in Flash tool options).
Rom TB-8705F_S100099_200706_BMP.zip is Android 9. Got Magisk and EdXposed running.
Maybe it's just in my mind but it does seem faster than Android 10 - well at least when scrolling through menus or browsing Play Store. Overall performance is probably the same so downgrading won't make games / apps run smoother.

After you installed Android 9, did you have to use the disbale vbmeta method like they did in Android 10 to get root or did you have to use another method?

A question of ROMS

Hi All.
This question may seem trivial, and I've searched high and low for an answer but couldn't find one.
I have an Oppo R7g. This is running ColorOS version 2.1.0i and on android version 5.1.1.
In short I would like to install the Marshmallow release of android onto the phone, in effect replacing ColorOS. I have managed to Root my phone using the Oppotools and now I am looking around for the ROM. But I can't seem to find one.
I was surprised that there wasn't a release from Google that I could use. When googling for this I found the below link that links to factory images for nexus devices. It seemed like there was a different image per version for each device. This isn't what I expected. When I want to install windows or Ubuntu on my laptop I dont need to seek a particular version for my specific build of laptop. Is this different for phones?
What would happen if I took the latest Nexus 5X image and put it on my phone Oppo R7?
Thanks
Will

Flyme 7 based on Android 8 Oreo is coming

Flyme 7 Coming to Older Phones Like Meizu PRO 5.. to see click here :fingers-crossed:
It's good news, currently only 4.7% of mobile phones have Oreo.
The trouble is until Flyme gets stable
And if there are new drivers maybe someone (@faust93) is able to port it to Resurrection Remix 6, which is still in beta on most phones
You just have to wait and all the pieces are put together
They just released the Meizu 15 with Android 7.1.2. and Flyme OS 7, does not even come with Oreo.
I'm very disappointed!
Meizu is one year behind in the design and software of its mobile phones. They pass the fashions without offering anything.
I expected them to catch up, but nothing. He's going to win a bad name forever.
They will end up putting the sign closed for vacations, which we already know what it means.
Above, they do not pay Google for having Google Play well. The International Version is a fake, they aren't Certified
And they also have blocked the bootloader so you can not install any ROM (there are none in the Meizu Pro 6, Pro 7).
My next mobile will not be a Meizu is clear. In 2015, they competed with Xiaomi, I thought that they would get over them but they have chosen very bad strategies, such as making several versions (China, the International), moving away from Google, problems with apps, very similar designs for all their phones, prices that are too high compared to the competition , many software failures in Flyme, without Android updates ...
Luckily I have it with RR and Android 7.1.2 (in 3G and without finger print but this does not matter at all). And I'm happy with him !!
You do not need another Android if you have it well customized (Substratum, Exposed, Magisk Manager ..).
But it would be cool to have RR with Oreo..
Flyme 7 is out since 22.04.18 and IS NOT BASED on Oreo
It's again based on Nougat 7.0
I've tried 7.8.4.22 A, not soo bad, some little bugs with camera and other things but overall 's good
in 2022 i bet they are going to have oreo
or meizu will die
Meizu has disappointed me so much that I bought another mobile (not from Meizu). I have endured so much thanks to the Faust93 ROM but I could not do it anymore, it was a little on a whim, more than other things
Meizu was downgrading ever since 2015 and their strategy to focus on the Chinese market with dozens of new devices every year led to abandoning all their previous flagships and lack of focus on software updates. Obviously providing regular up-to-date upgrades does not bring in too much revenue compared to the new devices ranging from budget to flagships that bring in millions. This fact showed their real face - hunt for money rather than for creating an outstanding product and attracting even more customers. Pro 5 is my first Meizu phone and is definitely the last one. Even with running RR 7.1.2 and fully and smoothly functioning hardware, I do really lack fingerprint option and I don't like having any sacrifices on the device. which once used to be a flagship and still has pretty powerful insides to date. I like trying different roms and flashing firmware, but for the testing purposes, not because I am forced to in order to have more or less up-to-date Android version and properly working Google Services and Play Store. This is just ridiculous and disgusting.
Did someone tried flyme 7, this version 7.8.5.8?
hi everybody.
I'm surfing the internet.
https://www.getdroidtips.com/flyme-os-7-meizu-pro-5/
I came across this site.
I downloaded and installed the Meizu pro5 Flyme 7.0.2.0A from the https://www.flyme.cn/firmwarelist-23.html#3 link provided on the site. I got backup of my phone. I've installed wipe cache. And it works.
I wanted to share it with you.
Notes:
- I had a flyme 6.3 rom.
- I installed vipe cache from the first installation. sim network did not work. vipe cache cleaning and installed all functions worked.
-Flyme has added facial recognition and works very nicely.
- Press the power button. I installed the version uplink type. As described in the first link. (https://www.getdroidtips.com/flyme-os-7-meizu-pro-5/)
-I've been using it for two days. very nice. Flyme7 is the original system board and stable.
- Before loading, change the ro.product.locale = zh-CN line in the zip file (update.zip/system/build.prop) to -> ro.product.locale = en-US.
- Bad news - I use English. Problems can occur in other languages.
The pro5 really got android 8.0!?
Maybe I should (after switching to the global version a year ago) back to the chinese roms...
Are the google apps all working? Incl. contacts etc?
Thanks already for the update!
pro 5 now is with oreo??
i´m speechless lol
Unfortunately nope, Oreo was only a dream for us

U can use it as daily rom, it's almost near to perfection. But it's not new, it's 2018.08.10 so 3 months old.
:good:
Hi all,
Since it seems there are not updates coming for the global version of pro5 anymore I am considering to switch to the Chinese ROM.
Is it possible to install the latest Chinese version to a GLOBAL Pro5?
If it is a more complex process, do you have instructions a link that shows how to do it?
Thanks a lot!
Jan

i think you have to change the product label to chinese ( i tried without doing so and i failed miserably )
it's depend on what recovery you use to update, stock or TWRP. If with TWRP, you need to replace bootloader and recovery in zip to be unlocked bootloader and custom recovery.

Huawei device "ptrace" implementation issue

Being a no good dirty cheater, I'm a big fan of Game Guardian and I use it with great success on my HTC U11 phone. I recently discovered that it can be used without root, by using a virtualization environment such as Parallel Space or VirtualXposed. As I haven't rooted my M5 (SHT-09), I downloaded Parallel Space and GG and got it all running. However, I've found that I cannot make any edits to game memory space from within GG.
The are a number of posts on the GG forum suggesting that there is a bug (or security feature) in many Huawei device cores / firmware that relates to the implementation of the ptrace system function call. Something in the firmware seems to prevent the GG process from modifying the child process memory space using PTRACE_POKETEXT or PTRACE_POKEDATA.
The suggestion of the developer of GG is to "change the firmware so that there the ptrace system call works normally".
Anyone aware of this "feature" of Huawei device firmwares? Is there / could there be a solution to modify the firmware to "fix" this behaviour?
I saw you posted on my thread. Thanks for that. I wanted to see whether flashing a different kernel like Serenity would help. But i doubt it. Might be worth a try. Would have loved to know that beforehand. :/ Any other ideas? What I am seeing is that it needs a competent developer to recode the Kernel. I would then flash that patch. Other than that it is defined as unfixable. That we'd have to change the device. :/
It's the main reason that I haven't rooted / unlocked the bootloader, as running GG is pretty much all I use root for on other devicxes. And the fact that rooting / boot unlock kills Widevine level 1 support, which is madness on a 2k device like the M5. Wouldn't want Netflix streaming SD content only.
From what I understand, which isn't much, the issue is buried deep down in the kernel. Not sure if a custom kernel would solve the problem or not. Knowing XDA, I'm sure someone will be crazy enough to try it at some point in the future!

Yeah I get that, but some games dont have a cloud feature. Making parallel space useless. Plus I appreciate some other root features. I have a note 8 which should work GG without root, but I'll see how it goes. Oh really, I'm a big time stream fan. I havent tried Netflix with root yet . Should still work tho. I think. Hmm well, problem is all kernels are made for devices like the mate 10 or the P20. Not sure if they will work with the M5, wouldn't want to brick after all the trouble. [Edit, found the nextflix module apk. Can flash that with Magisk. Makes it work again ]

Alright guys, I found this out today (I'm also Kr1msonReaper on GG forums);
Huawei kernel prevents GG from working in Android Oreo HOWEVER-- If you downgrade to Android Nougat, I find that it works perfectly. Hope this helps!
Just a note, when you are, of course, debloating Nougat, make sure to disable Huawei system update app so you don't find yourself in Oreo the next day.

How do you downgrade to nougat? Any reason not to do it? And will I retain root ?
I actually like Nougat more than Oreo as it fixes issues such as the ptrace error and seems to have more battery optimization. It's been a long time since I downgraded to Nougat and since then I got a new phone but here's the tutorial I followed. @mrmazak has helped me out of se sticky situations and his tutorials have never failed me. https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-7x/how-to/guide-honor-7x-flash-oreo-update-t3781649/amp/
I believe you will lose root but you can easily flash magisk again after installing the downgrade package.
Hope this helped!

I am not sure this would work on the Huawei mediapad m5 tablet. As far as I can tell it never had a nougat firmware to rollback too. I looked for sht-w09 and the all the files appear to be for Android 8 and none for 7 nougat. Unless I am missing something??
Other than they locked out ptrace stuff and that it appears unlikely to get Android 9 in the US for my mode l its a pretty good tablet. Maybe I should just sell it and move on to a tab s6 that can be rooted.

Hey! You're right I couldn't seem to find a nougat downgrade. On the bright side, I did find a Pie update for your model. Who knows, maybe ptrace will be fixed in that version?

Help updating tablet's OS.

Good Evening/Hello/Hi,
I own a Huawei MediaPad 10 Link Plus(16 GB) and I am running stock OS (Android 4.2), unrooted. I am a total stranger when it comes to upgrading OS through bootloader, but I have successfully rooted a phone once, a very long time ago ( but I had no idea what it did and I don't remember how) . So I would like to ask for help on how to upgrade tablet's OS to the newest version that is possible on this device ( I mean it's got 1 gig of ram and a quad core cpu, we can get more juice out of it can we?). I can find a bunch of useful information here, but it seems I am having a hard time finding specifly what I need to accomplish my task. I know that the newest version that's officially possible is Android 4.2, but an unofficial version can be even higher right? The stock OS seems to be super laggy and filled with bloatware and an ugly UI.
I would like that the new OS would be as close to stock Android as possible.
Thank You
I tried to find a custom ROM, but it seems as if there are none really. I also read somewhere that it is not possible to even root the device, so you may have hit a bit of a roadblock. The best thing you can do is install a custom recovery and try to build your own ROM (I know, I know). You'd have to do quite a bit of work since there aren't many files available out there for the device.

Question on ROM

Hi there I'm new to all of this and want some help.. I have a Note 9s 4gb variant and it's running android 10, I couldn't find any android 9 rom for my phone but found one with the latest MIUI for POCOPHONE.. can I use that rom for my phone? Will it be safe?
The reason for me to look for an android 9 rom is because that I play this game, but the High Frame Rate support for android 10 was removed and it's been a while since then, I really enjoyed those extra frames and would like to do something about it. TYIA!
Never never never never never flash a rom that was not intended for your devices, regardless of how similar the devices are. This will more than likely resulting in bricking the device and only Xiaomi would be able to fix it.
Don't flash it on your device or you will get a hardbrick. The only solution for that is to go to the service center
That's informative )) THANKS!
