Phone won't charge or is very slow - Samsung Galaxy Mega

It appears to be the connection in the phone. We have tried multiple charging cords, but some don't work at all, or others just give a very slow charge. I have looked for a spare battery with separate charger, but there doesn't seem to be much available for this phone. Will a battery from another model work in this phone? Does anyone have any other suggestions?

You may have already tried this, but look for a 5v charger that's at least 2A.

[Q] Charging Issue (maybe)

I've searched the forums for the answer to this, and found similar problems, but no solution. If the answer is already out there and I missed it, I apologize.
I'll get to it - I don't believe my phone is charging properly. There have been a few instances where a USB connection will actually put out more mA than the charger. (usb - 300-400 vs. ac - 300 tops)
I tried two different chargers (the stock HTC and the rapid charger from my old moto droid 2) with the same results. The numbers I most consistently get from Battery Monitor Widget from the HTC wall charger range from 281-287 mA. That seems awfully low.
I don't know if this is another helpful symptom, but I also purchased a mhl cable from ebay. When I use it, the resolution my monitor detects is vga (640x480). I can't seem to adjust that at all. Furthermore, Battery Monitor Widget hasn't detected a positive charge while using the mhl cable with the HTC wall charger.
Thanks in advance for any advice, fellas. (fellas as in all of you, both sexes)

I have never monitored the charging amperage on the device. I do know, there is a setting in the kernel which limits the amount of amperage supplied via usb to the device.
In some custom kernels this limit *might* be increased allowing more flow via USB. Not sure if this would help resolve your issue. I'd guess most people haven't really looked into this issue. I know with the previous EVO model, the USB charge took more time to fully charge than the wall charger.
There were (prob still are) a lot of *opinions* regarding different charging methods/limits provided in different kernels, etc on the original EVO. I never took much of that to be important as I never had issues charging my EVO. I've also never had any issue charging my EVO 3D. I usually charge it via USB to a computer every night.
Hope that helps!
Thanks, Joey. I haven't tried a new kernel yet, but I'll try eventually. However, I don't know that a new kernel will affect the erratic charging on my device.
anyone else?
Is anyone else familiar with this issue or know of a solution?

Slow charging on my dna!

So my DNA has a charging problem. Figured I'd get a pretty good solution to my problem by posting it here. I've owned my phone for a little over 2 months without any major issues until last week. My phone charges sooo slow via the original htc usb wall charger and various other chargers I have laying around the house! It's really getting annoying as I seriously need my phone 24/7. I installed a few apps that may have caused this. They are the moga universal driver, moga pivot, tango, Skype, and aDownloader. I have since unistalled these apps to no avail. I'm unrooted on stock rom. Phone charges at about %10 every hour and a half. I'm trying to find a solution without having to root or restore my phone. I have the nokia wireless charger but I still find it too slow to use on a regular basis. Use that at night or on days off from work.
I love this phone but if I can't find a good fix I'm thinking of replacing or selling it for the razr maxx hd. I know.. I know.. But I need a phone that charges properly/last long
Sent from my DNA
10% / hour is not an acceptable charge rate. Mine charges much faster than this.
If you are charging via the USB cable, make sure to use the wall adapter instead of plugging it into the PC and check the results. Charging via the wall is usually much faster than by using a PC's USB port.
You can do a nandroid backup of the entire ROM and then install stock to see if the ROM is the problem as well.
If you try those things and it still charges that slowly, then there is something wrong with your phone.
This is not the first thread where I heard about charging issues with people who use the nokia wireless charger. Did you have this problem when you first got the phone?
Wireless charging is the slowest method, so expect it to be slower than by PC or wall cable. The LG wireless pad says about 4~ hours for a full charge (which is still much faster than 10%/hour)...

[Q] Unable to charge while turned on, only original charger works while turned off...

Hello XDA,
I'm not sure how this happened, but for the past couple of months I haven't been able to charge my phone while it is turned on. It shows the charging animation but the battery still drains, even with all radios off and screen off. I can leave it charging all night and end up with a nearly flat battery. Plugging it in to any wall socket seems to only slow the draining, and plugging it in to a fully powered USB socket (many tried) keeps it at the same battery level, or very slowly charges it if I don't use it. If I turn it off however, I can charge it until full in the normal time with the original AC charger.
Here's the really strange part: I've tried several new chargers of different brands including samsung and it makes no difference. Not only that, but they won't charge it when powered off either making them completely ineffective. It doesn't initialize the charge properly - the screen either shows a battery with a progress circle over and over again without getting to the charging animation, or displays the charging animation over and over and never charges at all, but nevertheless gets hot.
The chargers I've tried are:
Cygnet for samsung phones including SGS-II
Belkin for Samsung phones including SGS-II
Premium blackberry travel charger
Premium 10W 2A Samsung travel adaptor
One charger that did seem to work while plugged in was from a new Sony Xperia Windows phone charger I borrowed once.
I've exchanged at the store 3 times now with the same result! It must be something wrong with the hardware or software...
I've calibrated the battery, I've had a new battery for a couple of months and normally still lasts all day and more on a full charge. It is a 3rd party high quality Anker battery. The problem is the battery is getting a lot more taxed now that I'm using 3G over the portable hotspot, so its not quite lasting the day anymore.
I've had countless custom ROMs on there now, current ROM is CyanogenMod 10.1 stable. Would returning to stock then reinstalling help?
Something that shouldn't matter is I've moved from the UK to Australia. I'm still using the English charger as its the only one that works. And the Xperia charger that seemed to work was Australian too.
Before it got this bad I think it was getting slower and slower to charge. I had to replace the old USB cable that eventually got really loose, then broke and i've tried several new ones with no improvement in charging ability. Is it possible that the contacts inside the micro-USB socket might have been bent from the old cable moving around so much so that only minimal contact is achieved with any other cable? The new connectors do seem to fit perfectly.
In the attached screenshot, you will see on the left the AC charger is plugged in while battery level goes down, then on the far right its plugged in to a computer and is kept level.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

IMO, u should revert back to a stock samsung Firmware (pertained to ur region) and then see if the issue persists or not to rule out any possible 'Software issue' in the first place
Thank you, I will try that and report back the results.
You can try hawkerpauls nuke if flashing stock doesn't work: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2100558

Funny Recharging Behaviour

My GT-i9300 seems to only recharge when plugged into a mains charger.
Until recently all was fine, afaik no updates... then
I travel alot, and use a car charger to maintain battery... it just stopped working, first thoughts were the cable..;. but I have 2 phones and the cables work with the other phone (bought new ones anyway.. just in case.. you can never have to many cables).
at home we have (amongst other things) a 2amp multi usb hub, it has little lights to show which socket is active, when the phone is connected the phone does not charge and the hub does not register the connection.
.. so I'm thinking the phone microusb is faulty... I carefully wiggle it to see if it connects... but get nothing.
however, the samsung microusb charger that came with the phone does still charge the phone.
My feelings are that my phone has suddenly become fussy about what charges it..
I've done a search and found mention of Googy max kernel for the charge control feature
however before I do this please, any tips, suggestion WHY this might have suddenly happened? and any alternative remedies. Thanks
btw: using Carbon-kk-nightly-20140302-0518 with no problems previous to this... except a dialler issue.

Oukitel K10000 Max Charging issue

Hi,
So I've got a brand new phone very recently: less than 7days ago.:
I'm overall very satisfied, the battery holds charge for 3 days of normal use etc, but I'm having an issue with the charging;
I'm using Oukitel's OEM Cable and wall adapter and get approx 25% with 8-9h of charging. It's worth noting that the "flash charge" worked the first time, getting me from 30% all the way up to 60 in maybe 2h (supposed to be a ........9V2A/12V 1.5A charger), I then unplugged it to get to work. Data pins do work well, I'm able to transfer files and the phone recognises if it's plugged over AC or USB. I'm having the exact same speeds as my 5V 2.3A wall adapter, so i'm thinking the flash charging doesnt work at all anymore.
I have factory reset the phone 3 times now and unplugged the wall adapter for exended period of times to empty capacitors.
I'm really out of ideas and don't really want to send it back because of the cost and time (almost took a month to get there!)
I've sent a message to the support a couple days ago but no answer yet, I think it's hopeless. Anyone having better ideas than me?
I'd really appreciate ANY feedback, even if 20% get me through the day easily.
Thanks for your time.
PS: The phone doesnt heat up AT ALL while "charging" with any of my adapters, including OEM, and i'm having no other type C cable to test with.
I guess the Charger's data pins could be the issue, I have taped data pins of my usb cord and the phone thinks it's charging over AC everywhere, I don't know what to do to verify this though.
(edit) By touching the USB cord, i've noticed window's disconnect sound, I think the cable could be not stable enough and "disconnect/reconnect" with the charger often enough that the flash charge doesnt kick in, I'll try different positions tonight and keep this updated.
OUKITEL K10000 max
That was the cable, bought a fast charge adapter and cable and it now works. Using new cable on old charger works. To anyone having the same issue, just buy a new cable. z
