Hello all,
I thought I would share my experience with my purchase of this MXQ Pro quad core S905.
If u search on Google, u find a big buzz about the new powerful s905 CPU and the low price for this TV box. I have Nexus player and I hoped I can get this and use it in a similar fashion.
I got it from Ali express and the first problem I found was that even though everyone advertises that is has Bluetooth, it doesn't!! No Bluetooth so I couldn't connect my Bluetooth keyboard or more importantly the BT game controllers for my kids to play simple Android games.
Then, I thought at least I can use it for media and games using controller or USB controller. IT IS SLOW!! CRASHES WHEN I TRY TO RUN ANY GAMES. I tried some games that I know work on my Nexus player. No go. They crash or black screen.
If I can return, I would return. The only thing that works well is kodi. If u want it for kodi alone..It might be good. Otherwise. It's a pain!! At least that has been my experience. Do I have a lemon? Maybe! Anyone has better experience?
I also tried to connect the av out but no go. No output.my RPI works OK!
In order to try to fix. Anyone knows if there are any other ROMs that I may be able to load on it? I am getting the feeling it's just software... Would cm work on it or anyone made a good ROM with all the right drivers and you acceleration?
Any other good relation good priced box that has BT and good performance that I can get?
If this is a lemon, then I have opened a dispute with sli express to see what they can do.

I feel the same ... I have solved a bit with this by xda seeder .....
I load a rom that is identical .... good ours is p200
I p201 load control and does not recognize me, either ethernet
I'm also looking for alternative rom, but also look for the stock rom whole, I can not find anything, we contact if we find something there
lag kills me that you have and the games start at 4 or 5 attempts

I was wrong was not for you, it is also based on p200 not problems, but would cease functioning wifi and command.
there is no stock rom, whole not found for yours
if the bluethoo does not work is because it is broken and does not solve another rom
if you can return the better
Can't return so stuck wih it. Got $15.00 back. At least if I can use media player. I gave up on Bluetooth.

As a lot of us know, RemixOS can't run with NVIDIA GPUs right now, at least not with the modern ones.
The only way around is to disable the GPU and use internal graphics instead - which runs like ****.
Anybody know if there's another way? I'd really like to try RemixOS on my PC.
I downloaded the latest version, and it actually booted (I have a gtx 970). My only problem is that when I restart it bootloops at the startup screen[remix android screen].

What internal graphics do you have? I have a pathetic Intel HD 4400, with only 2gb video ram, it still runs fine.

Here is a possible solution that was found on Reddit by the user winsock2
I have a GTX 970 too and I have the same problem. I believe Remix OS has some problems with NVIDIA GPUs. Though the problem is not official, many users are facing @MisterCoolBeans I couldn't quite get on to what was there on that Reddit post. Mind explaining?
I thought I was the only one. You don't know how many times I tried installing and reinstalling the system. The thing which was really killing me was that after less than 5-10 minutes the system would simply freeze without any sollution to fix it. I had to restart the system every time it happened until I got fed up with it. At first I considered it may be an app incompatibility, but it seems like the GPU itself can't get along with it, which is pretty unfortunate.

It didn't.
I have one nvidia 960M and I am not able to boot remix os
Actually I can if I boot using the CPU video card but I would like using the power of my nvidia.
I have an Nvidia GeForce 9400 GT and it boots fine one the latest version. Weird thing is that Phoenix OS has always worked fine on my NVidia. So I'm assuming they use different graphics drivers in their respective versions. Not sure....either way...glad Remix OS works with my graphics card now. I prefer RemixOS to PhoenixOS for most things anyway

hey do you still have this file? i cant download from there is removed
After the update is complete then the OS won't start.
My screen is stuck in the line "[email protected]_x86_64:/ #"
Nothing happens whatever i do...
Installation method was using the windows tool (so it's a dual boot with win7)
And my laptop is an Asus (i5 and gforce 720m)
Note: Two previous versions worked great had no problem with boot or installation.
The usb one that was version 1 i believe plus the latest stable one (2.0.102).

Yes, I had the same problem as yours. The hacked edition solved my problem, and it comes with a lot of improvements, even root access and Play Store pre-installed. The author is OP.

Try to add nouveau.modeset=0 i915.modeset=1(force it to use integrated graphics) to menu.lst file under kernel.

I think old version never used nvidia, it broke because they trying to get it to work in new version.
you can download the remix os from http://forum.xda-developers.com/remix/remix-os/remix-os-pc-hacked-edition-ota-v2-0-201-t3345968
and extract the ramdisk.img ,copy it to the folder where you installed and replace it .
Hey there. I've had this device for a couple a days and did all the tasks an android nerd usually does (rooting and installing mods). I had installed gapps stock via twrp and I've noticed that the front facing camera doesn't focus, the pictures come out kinda blurry. I also tried to avoid installing the google camera using gapps aroma but still got the same issue. Could this issue be fixed? Would installing gapps individually without using a .zip file make a difference?

I got same issue but in f3216..the problem solved when u format stock fw but you lost root..
New kernel is ready for XA Ultra, now I need the "boot_S1****.sin" from the last firmware on single and dual sim to extract the Ramdisk. I will not download firmwares just for that. Anyone can send me the files in PM?

No for two reasons, the first it's for the dual sim devices. The second it's a "sin" file and useless alone.
I asked this file to update the boot.img with the last kernel and probably solve the focus problem.
Now I need the same file from a firmware like the one for your phone (single sim)
I will release the new boot for the dual sim in one or two days.

I had the same problem with the front camera not focusing after installing Xposed and rooting. Flashing the previous boot image solved my problem, now the front camera focuses.
There is still an issue with the new kernel, the screen never shuts off and the brightness is always at its maximum

The new kernel seems buggy af, to be honest I'm about to try to downgrade to .111 I'll keep in touch if it works. Changing the kernel to the new is not worth imo to answer your question

But all I'm concerned about is the camera quality, low light situations and post processing.
If there's a certain fix to that then I'll root my phone straight away. Cuz let's face it, most of us bought the phone for its camera quality, and sure as hell not for its limited performance.

Downgrade it or not to .111 (which seems more stable) root it or not, but if you want to recover camera quality just flash the DRM fix mod here : https://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/sony/xperia-z1-z2-z3-series-devices-drm-t2930672 be sure to download the Z3+ version and it'll sulfate DRM keys that allow noise cancelling, Bravia stuff etc...

FLASHFIRE INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS (OF1 BOOTLOADER USERS):
REQUIRED FILES:

INSTALLATION:
1)Install flashfire v.0.53
2)Open Flashfire and hit the "+" button and select Wipe (Select System Data, 3rd Party Apps, Dalvik and Cache)

4)Add Rom WizCyan S6/S7
5)Add WiFi Fix
6)Add WizCyan ADDS S6/S7
7)Hit the "+" button and select "Flash Firmware Pack" and Add "Kernel OF1"
8)Press thunder icon and start installation
TIPS FOR THE INSTALLATION
Leave "Auto-Mount" leave it marked not uncheck.
Set the screen time in 10 minutes so it will not turn off when installing.
In WizCyan Adds try to place what you need do not put things over.
the order of the files can't change position doing so it can be moved only held down the file and colocándole in the order presented below

Testing this out right now! I'm so happy people are still doing roms for this phone! Even with the stupid bootloader locked. I'll let you know how it works!
This is HANDS DOWN the BEST Touchwiz based rom EVER! Everything is so smooth, and fast. And the ONLY rom for the S4 where Viper4Android works! The only thing I didn't do was check "Auto Mount". I left that unchecked. Everything took about 10 minutes. My S4 feels like a brand new phone. @JASONRR

it should be noted that the addons package is entirely optional you don't need to flash it and I don't recommend using very large aroma installers with flashfire(too much memory consumption for the s4 can lead to crashes and possbile soft bricking),the s4 can't handle the bloat of all the extra samsung garbage anyway

if you are installing on OC1 the process is the same just use the OC1 kernel.tar.md5 found here: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24052804347820944
and the OC1 wifi fix from here https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23991606952597069
you do not need to download or flash the addons on pack it is optional just beware that the themes settings menu will FC without it but at a little over 1GB of ram free keeping it minimal its worth it
remember the flash order should always be
WIPE
ROM
FIRMWARE (OC1/OF1)
WIFIFIX
KERNEL
Can we confirm that data connects? How would this work on an MDK bootloader? I tried with AIO kernel (since not flashing kernel resulted in yellow triangle.) I got it to boot, but got no data. Appreciate any help, thanks.

Yes working data connect what I do not know if the mdk bootloader works
I see working wifi, but don't see working 3g/LTE. That's what I'm wondering. Any other thoughts on getting it working on mdk bootloader from anyone?

Yes data mobile work very good and not know how do work in bootloader mdk as few have the bootloader

I could not tell you but I think if you use OC1 firmware and OC1 flashable kernel for safestrep would work
It's a theory I would not know if it would work but you can test

Hi OP. Thanks for making available the best rom for my vz s4 without question. BUT, after about an hour's usage, mobile data stops working and I can't get it back. Using OF1. So weird because voice/data/texting works perfectly until mobile data crashes. Even after toggling airplane mode and rebooting I can't get it back. Might it be an APN problem? I'd love to keep using this rom but can't w/o 4g.

May be it's APN problems since I'm not presented with that error
I'm thinking that the method of install should work with any snapdragon S4 Touchwiz 5.0.2 rom from the international S4 forums.
I haven't tried it, has anyone done deep exploring with FlashFire? Or see A reason to object?

Yes it works in all variants of S4 snapdragon my model is i337 and working a the perfection utility this method for mi variant

I need the stock firmware for the MXQ Pro 4k device with Wifi (8189 FTV) & Sandisk P221011 as the device is on Red light and the reset button don't work and i have tried to use most of firmwares posted but i always get "romcode/initialize ddr/read initialize status/usb control setup error" in the burning tool.

Try plugging in the power supply after you press "start" on Usb burning tool

It seems that there are two variants of the mxq pro 4k.
One with the S905 and another with the S905X
Yours is really a S905 or S905x?
There are several roms in the 4pda site, you can take a look there.
