Flashfire Compatible? - Verizon LG V10

I've seen threads showing Flashfire Compatible other Variants of the V10 but was checking to see if Flashfire would work safely on the Verizon variant.

I had a go with it. Flashfire warned of the lack of testing with LG products before I proceeded to try and just wipe the Dalvik and Cache.
Didn't seem to work, but no damage done

Thanks for sharing your feedback.

I just successfully flashed a zip file with it. The zip file to stop the optimizing of the 2 apps changed for the second screen fix. Worked perfectly. I haven't tried anything else yet.

I downloaded this zip and used flashfire to flash it and it stopped the optimizing.

I was beyond bugged about the 'Optimizing' message every time the phone was started. I determined that this was caused by deodexed replacements while leaving the odex files behind. I have gone ahead and made a flashable zip:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/8s181or9n2taw51/Xposed_2ndScreen_fix.zip?dl=0
The zip will install the two updated files, set the proper permissions and delete the .odex files that are no longer needed. After the first reboot (after install is done) there will be no more optimizing because of these two files.

If/until Fuhu releases source code, I don't think it is very plausible to try to port this tablet to JB.
Nice Job installed fine
now that Deodexing was done ... it gets rid of that pesky "android is upgrading message.

found my fix. i did wipe the cache and dalvik but i was doing that every time. this time i did your rom and started it up with the wifi off and skipped every thing with the google setup then when i got to the desktop i restarted and and cleared the cache and dalvik and then installed the kids stuff. restarted and kept the wifi off and did all the nabi stuff. when i could get to the desktop i started up play store and let it turn on wifi and do its thing and it all worked. then went into kids mode and it said tht their was a user with my email allready so it came up the the sigh up or sigh in screen. i have an account so i sighed in and finished the nabi stuff. then went back to play store and it still is working. hope this helps if anyone else has my problem. hey thanks again for the rom. if it wasn't for you i would have just thrown $200 bucks out the window

I will be starting this ROM from scratch this weekend (hopefully addressing the issues it has), it will not take nearly as long now since I know the steps to do it. I will be building one complete stripped ROM and one complete stock ROM (except without the OTA updater because I think it may conflict with the OTA updater if an update happens because of the De-Odexed apps). I will also be on Christmas break so I will have plenty of time to work on this.
But I am still not able to duplicate your issue with the play store... the only thing force closing on me is the GMail app, maybe you should try installing the gapps on THIS page

[ROM] Barren-ZV4 - Odexed & Deodexed

Just thought we needed a trimmed Rom to tide us over til CM/AOSP/Lolipop comes along. This is about half the size of the original factory ROM. So may I introduce...
BARREN Odex & Deodexed
See Post #2 for addons and minor updates
Anybody can use this as a base. All I ask is a little credit.
Disclaimer: You install this at your own risk!!!
What is it?
This is a Stock Rom that is slimmed down, with very little bloat. Odexed and Deodexed versions
No Sprint dl'ing
No LG dl'ing
Wifi calling installs every single time!
What it has - Change log
Code:
V3
First Sprint Rom that installs a kernel. Can you say "BUMP'd!"
init.d support through the kernel
added more init.d scripts. Helps performance and battery, I hope.
Updated to the current mixer paths - should be good to go
Removed a couple, now useless apps for Barren
V2.1
Fixes in updater-script and busybox. [B]If you're on V_2 update to this. I had some mistakes. [/B]
Read [url=http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=56596984&postcount=248] Here [/url]
V2
All the goodness from V_1 series
Added init.d support
SQLite
Zipalign on every reboot - /system/app, /priv-app, /data/app
Removed - LG File Manager, maybe some others
Added into /data - updated and removable - LG Keyboard, Estrong File Explorer, Sprint VoiceMail, GoogleSearch, Xposed, G3 Tweakbox
Probably other minor things I can't remember
V1
SuperSu
busybox
zipaligned
build.prop edits - All split window, dalvic heap correction
Ext Sd card fix - you don't need an app for this now
Mixer paths - Increases volume - [B]THIS CAN DAMAGE YOUR SPEAKERS!![/B] You've been warned!!
LG Stock Boot animation
Google keyboard only - Removed LG Keyboard and Swype
Removed too many things to list
Maybe some other things i forgot
To install:
Make a backup in TWRP first! And always make sure you've backed up your EFS.
In TWRP, select "Wipe", "Advanced", and select /system, /data, /dalvic, and /cache. DO NOT select "Internal, or ext SD!
Flash zip
Profit!!!!
On first boot:
You may not have reception. Use Wifi or add accounts later
Just acknowledge LG agreement - it won't install anything
Go to Settings and update profile/PRL.
Subsequent boots/reboots:
You may get a Gapps warning. This is OK. Google Search is no longer a /system/app. It'll be in /data, if you download it.
Bugs:
None that I know of. You tell me
Possibly on V2 Play Store not updating properly - time will tell
Donators (Never asked for, but always appreciated - Thank you)

Add Conceirge and Weather. HERE - Deodexed
Add Concierge and Weather. HERE - Odexed
and
To add other apps - This I'm gonna leave for you to work on. Heres how:
If you want any other app from the stock ROM, you'll need to pull it from a Stock ROM and place it in either /system/app or /system/priv-app BEFORE you flash this zip. Use 7zip or Linux and open the zip and place the apk in the appropriate folder.
In TWRP, wipe /cache and /dalvic ONLY
Flash ROM
Profit!!!
You will need to start from scratch. So flash Barren, wipe cache and dalvic. Flash Concierge and reboot.
It SHOULD work properly and did when I tested it. You add this on your own.
Hell yeah. First. Thanks for this.
Yes indeed good sir, thank you very much, been waiting for something like this. Thanks again.

[Patch][MM 6.0] [Stock] Deodex patch for firmware .163

Hi. At last, deodex patch appeared for our Z4 tablet too!
Download links!!!
Android 6.0
For SGP771
https://yadi.sk/d/utGkXKPIq7hmX
For SGP712
Android 5.0.2
For SGP771
https://yadi.sk/d/c3nzIj1XoqpJD
For SGP712
Add the link when someone creates it on his own
Please do a backup first!!!!!!
HOW is it created?
Use this tool
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/general/tool-deodex-tool-android-l-t2972025
First you need these folders and 1 file:
root/system/app
root/system/priv-app
root/system/framework
root/system/vendor/app
root/system/build.prop
copy them to your pc folder named system
Move the content of root/system/vendor/app (the app folders) and the semgeneric folder from root/system/framework to the root/system/app or priv-app
start the deodex tool; tick the 3 folders and let it do the work
After finishing without errors , move the folders you copied from /system/vendor/app and semcgeneric back to their respective locations and you have the deodex folder which contained
app
priv-app
framework
vendor/app
create the flashable zip(replace the folder(system folder) in the the zip with yours and test it )
How to install:
-you may need this do first as patch is done when my tablet already had deodexed camera and album apps. http://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/sony/z4-z5-z5c-fix-camera-fc-installing-t3246962
-Flash in the recovery
-wipe cache and dalvik-cache
Bugs:
I haven't noticed them yet
What about reboots?
As long as I tested it. No random reboots being noticed. However, permanent reboots remained: after wiping dalvick cash[after "optimizing apps"](with xposed installed) and with xmod 2.1.1 for clash of clans. The tablet work as fast as before. I think reboot problem connected to the kernel. Now I think it is easier to delete unnecessary system apps with deodexed stock rom. And it's better for using some xposed tweaks.

I faced no random reboots for the time being. Year, I meant permanent reboot goes as usual after optimizing apps.
Guys. I think I know why we still have random reboots even with deodex patch.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z5/development/patch-deodex-patch-firmware-200-t3301572
Z5 users have the same situation with reboots(with their patch too)
Please take a look at this https://yadi.sk/d/cieOb3GXouhXwfiles it's root explorer search *.odex .
Once upon a time (today), One man told me if you want system without reboots. There should be no odex files at all. If there is at least one odex file, there could be a problem.
In the system priv app I have only one odex file called phonesky.without any apk.(After the patch of course). And what is pbonesky?, it's absent on the list of system files
And there are so many odex files in other parts of the system.
Seems we should transform all odex files, not only in the /root/system.
So please, tell me your thoughts on it.
Look forward to your response!!!

Year. The point is I have no apk in phoneshy folder, only odex file. That,s a bit strange. Do you have the same?
Edit 1 Ok. Our goal, to pull off all odex files. Now I'm thinking how. Auras advices to use SuperR kitchen with linux
yes, mine is empty too.
After reading your post, I uninstalled google play store with titanium backup. And then copied phonesky.apk to system/priv-app/phonesky and changed its permission. Then deleted the odex file and reboot. google play seems to be working fine.
Edit: I found out your patch actually doesn't have phonesky.apk.
Well. Overall, deodex remained odex files is not a problem. But someone should help us to write a new script for a flashable zip. That's a problem
I'm really sorry, it turn out that I forgot to delete my backup of the original odex system apps, that is why root explorer was finding so many odex files. After I delete my backup and Phonesky folder as it only had one odex file without apk. It found only two odex files..They belong to Google play services. How do you think maybe they are the reason of reboots with xposed?
So the patch works excellent. But two odex files from Google play services remained.
—-----------------
But take into consideration I have patched play store and some other users might have it too.If you have original play store, my patch will not affect phonesky(play store/market).
So is it better to reupload my patch with phonesky deodex patch, or user can patch it separately beforehand on his own, by lucky patcher or deodex tool?
I did a little research. Two odex files of Google play services are on absolutely any android system, even on full deodex cyanogenmod. So no need to deodex them, they are not system apps. They are not the cause of reboots.
In summary, we have 100% full deodex stock system, but the reboots after optimization aps with xposed and some others, it doesn't solve.
I hope that android 6.0 will be better

Thanks for your efforts and finding out deodexing doesn't fix random reboots.
Hi everyone! It's time to talk about deodexing marshmallow.
First of all, no random reboot after optimization apps on odex system. No need to patch camera and album apps. It works stable.
What I noticed.
After installing via flashtool and recovering apps from accounts , there were 17 gb out of 22. I got twrp backup, erased internal storage, restore my backup, and as I result it freed 10 Gb.
After deodexing system, everything works well. The size of app, framework, priv-app, vendor/app becomes around 1,6 Gb. The odex one is around 3.2.
There is a little nuance, if you want patched market on deodex system, you need to do it before this patch, do dump of the system stuff of your tablet and deodex it.
And what I've noticed too, that there are much more odex files remains in the data/app folder. In the lolipup we had only two odex files remained whereas you'll find more in the marshmallow. It means as far as I understand android install apps in odex fashion from the market.
So, at first glance, the patch seems is not so necessary, but if you want to customize android, it's better to have deodexed romtoo in theory.
So, look forward to your responses

Thanks for sharing this. Is this debloated version - while based on NOOK edition there are not useless apps right?
Also is it pre-rooted and pre-xposed ?

Yes more bloatware from the nook edition however the nook edition uses UX in Touchwiz to make the home screen much much nicer looking I know you have been PM'ing me im working right now on a debloater script for ya guys, trust me i hate bloatware as much as you, as for xposed no, no pre installed xposed, why because after installing xposed it takes almost 10 to 15 mins to restart into the system and once people install this i like how they can get right back into there OS, and rooted if you have TWRP installed which you need to flash this you have SuperSU and root, Unless you deny TWRP to install SuperSu.
I will continue working on the debloater for you sorry its taking sometime but there's a TON of samsung useless apps plus you have to factor in some people may want this or that and if i make a script to flash its going to remove all the bloat not a pick and choose script.
Can i use this on 237p ?

Umm you know i dont think there are any like device changing settings, if you look in your system files the apps framework and priv-app are very similar then i dont see why not however you have to know i forgot this in my first post if you brick it then you know its not my fault, cause we both know they dont belong in that phone, lol but i am kinda a dare devil hell i flashed a kernel from a completely different phone and i was still ok restoring it. I just checked out your specs im not expert i would pm a dev from another thread just to make sure you., but if you upload you files i will deodex your rom for you its takes me like 10 mins takes me longer to upload then to deodex lol
My current rom is already somewhat debloated so would I have to temporally reinstall those apps for updating?

This update.zip contains the apks and jars from system/app system/framework and system/priv-app yes it would reinstall the bloatware i had a request to make a debloater script which i can do however if i got more requests for it id make a script to remove the bloatware a lot of people dont realize bloatware is mainly the cause of drop in performance.
This is kinda embarrassing but i had a working debloater script saved on my desktop. i had to reinstall windows 10 of course lol and gone! it took sometime to make because Samsung has more crap then any other

[17-Feb-2017] Viper4Android 2.5.0.5 Nougat Build - Flashable w/ Preinstalled Driver

A few days ago, there was an update from zhuhang for the already released Viper4Android 2.5.0.5. It addresses the issues that a lot of people are having with getting V4A working under Nougat. I tested it with my ROM, and the driver installed without error. So then I decided to make a flashable zip that would preinstall the driver and save you a few minutes plus a reboot. Other than possibly needing to grant Storage permissions in Settings, this is a quick flash and go.
The zip that should work on any LG-based ROM, and possibly on AOSP-based as well. Just download, flash in TWRP, and reboot. You may need to grant Storage permissions in Settings.
XDA Thread:

I [obviously] didn't create V4A, but if you include my zip in your ROM, please give a mention and link back to this thread.
First
Thanks for this.. I'm sure many will get use out of it..!
Not sure if I did something wrong or not - but I can't get it to work.
I'm on DevDigital's ls997 ver 6.5 magisk phh.
Flashed in twrp. Granted root permision.
go to SuperSU / un-check Mount_name spaces separately / under the settings. turn on adb debugging.
Inscribed via LG v20 (iOS 11.1.0 Aplha)

You shouldn't have been promoted to grant root access. V4A only needs root to install the driver, which is preinstalled.
If you're being prompted to install a driver, the ROM likely uses a different conf file to control audio.

He built and ported to magisk recently. Has a module you need to install then install Swansong
I haven't played with it yet. I like the new app but dont see a diffence in drivers from 2.5.0.4 to 2.5.0.5
Magisk has a compatible module in his downloads via the app that works with my rom (2.5.0.4)
I install that via magisk manager then i pulled the latest viper4arise.apk and installed instead of the older ui viperfx apk that is linked on the downloads page inside magisk manager.
Driver installs correctly for many others as well. You may need to dirtyflash my rom and start over. Magisk manager also received a update yesterday via playstore. The process on phh or magisksu as its now called is different now as its "systemless" vs modifying the actual system files.
If you dont want to go 5through the hassel of above. Just go to developer settings inside of the viper apps settings and turn off selinux and recheck driver status. Im 99% sure it works this way but ive said it before, i wont push the rom this route as i dont perfer it to be off by defualt.
Hope this helps
Got it all worked out thanks to the rom creator above. Team DevDigitel.
Thank You
Thank you for your work on this flashable zip it's much appreciated, I just have a couple of questions though for anyone who might know..
I'm still running the original stock rom (rooted with TWRP) on my LG V20 and a while back I followed the directions from another thread to install V4A, and I was able to get it to work (even through bluetooth) but it's kind of wonky and just hit or miss so I'd really like to try this one out instead.
I'm assuming I should uninstall the version of V4A I have right now but is there anything else that I need to do (besides a nand backup) before flashing this one? Also one of the steps to install the V4A I have right now was deleting a system file (I'll have to go look to be sure but I believe it was something like mixer_paths.xml), so I just thought I'd check to see if that will somehow effect this version or if I possibly need to put the original file back where it was before flashing this one?
I apologize if these are stupid questions but I just thought play it safe and check first before giving this a shot, because even though the version I have is kind of wonky it still works through bluetooth which from what I've read is something that a lot of people haven't been able to get working, and since I use it so much I'm just afraid to even risk losing it. Anyway I'll definitely create a backup before doing anything but any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

You don't need to delete any files for this zip. You're supposed to delete /system/etc/audioeffects.conf, but I've done that with the script.
As I use this more, Bluetooth still occasionally doesn't process after pausing for an extended period, like getting out of the car for more than 5 minutes, but all you need to do for it to kick back on is exit V4A from the menu, then open it up again. It'll immediately start processing again.
If you have an unmodified system backup to restore, that will help ensure it works OK, but it may not be needed.

Thank you for the quick response and for the info and I have no clue why I had mixer_paths on the brain but yeah audioeffects.conf is the file I had to delete while installing the version I have, and as far as what you said about the bluetooth acting up it sounds pretty similar to the wonkyness that I was describing with the version I currently have.
One weird thing that I've noticed with mine (and I don't have the slightest idea how or why it's doing it) is when I'm listening to music through my bluetooth headset, none of the settings under the "Bluetooth" section in V4A have any effect on the sound whatsoever.. but what's weird is that all of the settings under the "Headphones" section do (so it's basically like the section names were swapped somehow)?!
I know for sure that I don't have anything plugged into the jack and the headset I'm using is definitely bluetooth (because it's pretty easy to tell lol), so I have no clue why the settings under headphones would work just fine while the ones under bluetooth don't do it anything at all?
Anyway thank you again for the info I'll give it a shot as soon as I have time and let ya know how it went, and unfortunately the only thing I didn't backup was my unmodified system (it didn't even cross my mind until after I was done rooting) but hopefully it'll still be ok. Thanks again!

You can definitely control BT devices from the BT tab on this one. And I've found with more testing that before I get in my car, switch to V4A and exit it, then open it again as soon as Play Music connects. Works every time.
I would just like to say thank you!!
I installed this .zip on my T-mo variant over the previous V4A install via dirty flash. It resolved my Bluetooth processing issues on the stock V20 ROM. I've been working on this the past few days. VERY happy it now works in my car like my last phone did!
Now, once I get the nerve to flash over the new modem and bootloader via TWRP to get up to 20j, I'm highly inclined to check out the new ROM by NATF.
Cheers!

The new modem and other firmware is not a strict requirement for ROMs built on 10j. You just need to make sure TWRP is on the latest release.
