ADB help E5506 - Sony Xperia C5 Ultra

Hello everyone I'm having problems with adb on this phone. I turned developer settings on, adb on but I get no message to allow adb thru computer that I would normally get on any other phone. I can get adb devices and it provides my serial # but says offline. I've factory reset my phone, uninstalled and then reinstalled the drivers updated them and still no luck. I've looked all over the Internet and I guess no one has this problem. If any of you can shed some light on my situation I'd greatly appreciate it. I came from a Nexus so I do know some problem solving when it came to adb but I've tried pretty much everything that I could think of and also tried remedies I thought may help off of Google

This is a strange one
1. Are you on stock rom?
2. Are you rooted? (If so by what method?)
3. What PC OS are you on (Windows, Linux or Mac)

I am stock unrooted C5 ultra. I am using Windows 10. Yeah I have no idea why it's showing as offline. I tried again after work yesterday and no luck. I tried other USB cords as well. It shows up as a mass storage device in windows.

In Windows 10 go to your device manager /settings/searchbox n type (Device Manager)
In device manager find your C5 select it right click select update driver/let me choose/android usb device/ Mine defaults to the "MTP Device" you have to select "MTP USB Device" click apply and try adb again :fingers-crossed:
PS: Quote me or mention me @bigrammy or i will miss your posts

Thank you I will give that a try!

Windows 10 seems to install "MTP Device" for all my mediatek phones instead of the "MTP USB Device"
Let us know the results :fingers-crossed:

Ok I got it up and running doing exactly as you advised and changed it to USB device and immediately I got the allow this computer message. Thank you very much! Bootloader unlocked Will be flashing twrp and supersu in a bit. Now we need some roms and kernels hopefully. Loving the phone already without all that tho.

Glad you got it all sorted. :highfive:
To be honest In my opinion the Sony ROM is probably the best and most stable of any of the Mediatek based phones I have seen thus far :good:
Mine has not put a foot wrong so far and everything works as it should so I don't know how anyone could really improve it
Maybe Blisspop, MiUi and CM would be some good candidates just to have some choices and most of the work required to port them over is already done for the mt6752/32.

[Q] Tablet S USB Connection Problem

Hey all,
I've searched through forums for an answer but nothing has been of help yet. I've been unable to connect my tablet with my pc for a while. I tried reinstalling the drivers, using another pc, even I updated to official R5 via recovery, thinking it would solve the problem. However not only it didn't solve it, I'm also stuck now without root. Strange enough, the pc recognizes the tablet when on recovery, but nothing happens during normal startup, no popups or anything. And I couldn't root it while on recovery. So what would you advice? Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance!

Strangely, there isn't even an option to set it to MTP. There are no USB options at all.

I had this problem too. I could not enable debugging it would always default back to unchecked. A factory reset actually worked for this issue.
Tried drivers etc.
Was annoyed that was only option left. But it worked.

Hi,
Thanks for this andyabc. Helped me a lot.
On my windows 7 64bit PC the tablet all the time showed up as MTP device, but did not work at all. (ADB is working all the time) I could not get the drivers to work. MTP is a M$ invention, it is supposed to work out of the box since Vista.
Funny enough it did work on other PC's, so I assumed it's a problem with my PC. I was just so annoyed that there is no way to change this to any other setting not even PTP, just to copy my pictures at least. I have the same Android version on my Mobilephone, since the setting was on another spot on my phone, I simply assumed there is no way to set it on the sony tablet.
I've been working to solve this for almost 3 weeks by now
Then I saw your post.
First I changed it to PTP. Dis- and re-connected USB, and voila at least PTP worked. Then I changed this back to MTP and OH-MY-GOD-WAS-I-SUPRIZED to see that MTP NOW also works !
MAN THANKS, A LOT !!!
Thats what I do

[Q] No OS.. Help?

Today I got the HTC One from a guy that works at a T-Mobile store. The phone came rooted but I wanted to unroot it. We went into TWRP and touched wipe. We wiped out everything including the operating system. I tried connecting the phone to my computer but it wouldn't recognize it. I'm not sure if its because of my laptop which is a windows 8 or because the phone might have USB debugging disabled. I have absolutely no experience in this and I have no idea what to do. :/ Any advice would be nice Thank you!
So wait, can you access recovery? I haven't gotten around to rooting mine yet so not 100% the process for the one but if you can access recovery you should be able to mount usb storage then the computer will pick it up.

people have had issues with adb and windows 8. search the international thread for a solution.

i605 Note 2 to PC will not connect.

hey everyone, so ive have went thru all the threads i can find, done alot of research and have come up short. seems like alot of the users with the Verizon I605 Samsung Note 2 have the same problem, not connecting to their PC's.
-ive restarted both my note 2 and my PC numerous times.
-ive installed/uninstalled/re-installed the official Samsung website device drivers
-tried other USB ports
-tried up to 4 different USB/Mini USB cords
-made sure USB debugging was switched on
-Tried Samsung Kies, come to find out it doesn't support the I605 Note 2
-called Verizon and Samsung directly and both actually offered me a position as a tech after i told them all the things i did to figure it out, because it was way more then they could handle.
i know it has connected before, as i have done it once or twice a few weeks back but now it wont connect, drivers fail to install, and nothing else works. i have also tried every other method mentioned in the other threads. nothing has worked.
is there any fix for this? was it cause by the latest update?
im running 4.1.2/ VRAMC3
and im using Windows 7
please anyone lmk if there is a fix for this. ive exhausted all avenues known to me. thanks in advance.
Happened to me too, it's USB port in your computer. If you have any other computer or laptop try using that.
You can also try wireless connection for file transfer.

Hope you found your answer. If not have this moved. This was posted in the sprint version of the note 2 forums.

The appropriate forum would probably be more helpful.
Plus, are you getting any error messages? I've had issues with connecting the Sprint GN2. If I install the Samsung Drivers, I get a "Missing Hardware ID" error. I just found it's better not to install drivers. Let Windows install what drivers it can. Not all the drivers will install and will get an error message about device not successfully installed. But enough install that the GN2 will connect so you can move files around for MTP. See a thread I did back in December, linky
Also, you can try out SG Flash Drive Enabler. I've tried it out. It works pretty well. It has quirks, but does allow you to use your SDHC card as a flash drive. You have to use the MTP to access the phone's storage.
oh man...*face palm* sorry about posting in the wrong forum guys, i was about to crash and i didn't even realize. my mad.
MODS: please move this to the correct Forum section at your earliest convenience, thanks :silly:
i have found that airdroid does work for wifi file transfers for such things as pictures, music...etc. but im wanting to root my note 2 and it needs a direct line from the phone to the pc to work.
ill check out those links posted up and see what how it goes. but we still need a fix for this. kinda lame only (well most) the verizon SN2 is having this problem.

You may want to use ToolKit. I believe it's setup for AT&T tool. Uninstall KIES and all the samsung driver on the your PC. Choose to have ToolKit install the drivers. It should get your enough connection for ADB to work and be able to root and install a custom recovery. I had to use it a couple days ago to get a custom recovery back on the GN2 and I was getting the Missing Hardware ID error and still worked.

Ive done that very process. Uninstalled kies and installed the toolkit drives. Some reason it would sort of connect but then disconnect. Never stayed on and wasnt able to be picked up as connected on the Odin program.

where did you go on windows 7 to turn off the above mentioned? the middle part confuses me a bit. so your saying you turned off the windows feature to look for driver updates when the phone is connected via USB?
if you dont mind, please walk me thru your process. thanks in advance.

Kies was un-installed per instuctions on the toolbox. i guess i could try and re-install it and retry everything.

i am going to try to download a older driver that was working before and see if that works. its linked near the bottom of the above posted link in one of the replies. ill come back with results.
ok so i downloaded the samsung drivers version 1.4.6.0 and followed the directions on the link i provided above. the drivers installed successfully, but the CASUAL(R515b) No You Verizon! program doesn't seem to see the phone connected to the computer. and just continually loops. sigh...this is getting to get stupid. such a simple task yet its not connecting.
EDIT: the drivers SAY they have installed successfully, but the computer still doesn't recognize the phone is connected. even reads on the phone that the software wasnt found to connect to the computers, and the CASUAL program also tells me that the phone isnt connected....sigh...seriously....WTF.
When you install your driver's on your pc you need to restart your pc...have you tryed that?

While Kies does not officially support the VZW Note 2 it is the only way me and my friends can get our PCs to see our Note 2s, that's the only reason I ask and it is usually par for course. Its what's suggested in these cases if it isn't already installed. It can hurt to give it a shot and see if it helps anything, if not you can just uninstall it again.

[Q] saferoot Verizon Note 2 Stuck at Waiting for device to appear

I have a Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II SCH-i605 which has the 4.3 OTA. I downloaded Saferoot, unzipped it - and tried to root. I am ALWAYS getting stuck at "waiting for device to appear"
My computer recognizes my phone as an installer, camera, or media device - depending on which I have selected. I have tried running Saferoot using 4 different USB ports, 5 different USB cables (including the original white one the phone came with) and EVERY time I get stuck at "waiting for device to appear".
Any suggestions/help would be greatly appreciated.

I am at a total loss.
I did everything you suggested. still no joy.
I did notice that every time I connect my phone I am given the RSA Key box and click Always from this phone...but it asks this EVERY time I connect my phone.
If I clicked Always ... why does it always ask me?
I am thinking I should have kept my Droid RAZR.........
I really do not understand how my computer recognizes my phone as an SCH-i605 with bot the "phone" and "card" as possible drives but the command prompt cannot see my phone...
I have reinstalled the drivers at least 3 times now - from the device itself, from the Samsung website, and from another forum on this site...nothing is working...
I even re-flashed the 4.3 .tar file using Odin and went through the entire process of re-setting up my phone...no joy.
Oh Android - why do you hate me so?
@jburchii,
You've probably done this already, but just making sure....Have you enabled USB debugging for your phone under developer options?
If not... you can find this in your system settings.

Yes - Did this...I am re-installing Kies hopefully this will work...oh the drudgery.
Update: I just installed Kies 3 - I currently have the Samsung USB driver for mobile phones installed (it is in my "Programs and Features)...still getting stuck on "waiting for device"
I mean NOTHING seems to be working. Does anyone who successfully completed this on an SCH-i605 have a copy of the driver they are using?

Use the factory USB cable that came with your Samsung Phone
Try another computer

[Q] [HELP] Devices won't show up in adb when in bootloader

Hey friends, having a hard time here for some reason...
Both my N7 (v2) and HTC One m7vzw will NOT show up in "adb devices" when in bootloader mode. They do however, show up when they are powered on. Its been a while since I've tinkered with either one in adb so I can't remember the last time it worked, but couldn't have been longer than 2 months ago.
I've tried on two Win 7 x64 machines, my Dell Optiplex at work and my HP laptop at home. I've tried switching USB ports, I've tried different USB cables including the factory cables, I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers including HTC Sync Manager, I mean, I've tried it all as far as I know... Including updating everything is the Android sdk manager, I tried installing the drivers using WugFresh's Nexus Tool Kit as well (all with appropriate reboots as well...)...
So, I don't know what the eff is going on, but if anyone could maybe she some light or share some past similar experiences that would be sweet! :good:
You guys rock, thanks all.
Bump. Anyone?
however, "fastboot devices" does show the device, which is weird, so I should be good since fastboot is working and all I need to do is flash back to stock? I won't need adb commands?
If you have a windows 8 computer laying around, watch the video in that thread I linked you, it has drivers for 8.1.
