Update:
My phone is encrypted and on OOS 3.0. Was able to use fastboot method to flash the new recovery. Unfortunately still can't get TWRP to decrypt the phone. Anyone have luck?
Update 2:
Tried TWRP 3.0.2 Hybrid v2 and decrypt still not working. Thanks for the attempted fix WhyOrean!

Just a FYI, flashing your recovery form TWRP prevented me from getting back into recovery. Had to load the previous twrp (3.0.2) via fastboot.

Could you please share the steps to Install it?
Do they depend on our current TWRP?

The easiest way is to flash it within TWRP if you have TWRP 2.8.4 or higher already installed. Otherwise use Fastboot Install Method. Check the link above.

If you have TWRP already just select install images, flash this file and reboot.

this hybrid firmware not work for me while using CM13.
I flashed the official TWRP 3.0.2.0 via fastboot then its okay now.

Some users have reported many problems flashing this TWRP, so, please add the steps depending your current TWRP.
Can we flash it directly if we are using the modified H20 and OOS3 TWRP?Is it necessary to flash "Revert2Lollipop" before flashing this?
Thank you

I'm on OS3.0 and flash this recovery img file directly from my previous TWRP, and it worked as expected.

From OOS3.0 beta and TWRP 3.0.1-0 modified I've flash'd this hybrid recovery and no problem at all.
It works fine.
Thanks for the job.

@WhyOrean - It might be worth including the backup partitions in the Update.bat too so users running Oxygen OS can flash OTA updates (these are checked before being patched).
Code:
fastboot flash abootbak emmc_appsboot.mbn
fastboot flash hypbak hyp.mbn
fastboot flash pmicbak pmic.mbn
fastboot flash rpmbak rpm.mbn
fastboot flash sbl1bak sbl1.mbn
fastboot flash tzbak tz.mbn

Finally thanks for this

Yep, but fastboot flash rather than recovery flash.
If you're on OOS3 or H2MM and want to move to CM13, fastboot flash the contents of the Oxy2_CM13_Firmware.zip first.

pollux/LTE + TWRP: will not boot system. Why?

SGP-321 / LTE / pollux
Bootloader unlocked
CM13 installation:
- extracted boot.img and installed by: fastboot flash boot boot.img
- installed CM13 bei "update" from inside CM_recovery
- everything works OK until now.
TWRP 3.0.2.0 instal:
- installed by ADB "fastboot flash boot TWRP.img": sending/writing 'boot': OKAY
- fastboot reboot: rebooting into TWRP
In TWRP/Reboot SYSTEM: this reboots back into TWRP, does NOT boot CM13. Why?
CM13 installed again by "install" in TWRP: this installs CM13 but overwrites TWRP with the CM13_boot.img. So after the installation TWRP is gone and i have only the CM recovery.
Installing TWRP again has the same result as above: no booting of CM13, only booting into TWRP.
How can i solve this?
(PS: on my another xperia, "pollux_windy"/WiFi everything works ok, no issues with TWRP/CM13. )

Use CM13 kernel (boot.img) with TWRP integrated or if you don't have it, flash TWRP to FOTA:
dd if=/sdcard/twrp.img of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/FOTAKernel

Thanks a lot for the hint!
CM13 kernel (boot.img) with TWRP integrated: unfortunately i have not seen that anywhere mentionded until now. Where could i get that?
I have TWRP 3.0.2.0 for my "pollux_windy" that works fine, from the following download:
https://dl.twrp.me/pollux_windy/
I have been trying TWRP 3.0.2.0 for my "pollux" from the same site:
https://dl.twrp.me/pollux/
Is the TWRP for pollux_windy with integrated boot.img and the one for "pollux" without boot.img?

I actually don't know why it worked for you with windy, as when you flash fastboot flash boot TWRP.img it replaces stock CM boot.img and it won't boot, cause inside twrp.img is only recovery, but not kernel to boot system.
Thanks a lot for this excellent hint! It was a big help and it seems to work now perfectly.
pollux_windy / WiFi & TWRP:
After second thought i have to admit that i do not quite remember how exactly i installed TWRP on this one, it was some 2 months ago and i cannot remember any more:
- after unlocking the bootloader i extracted the "boot.img" from CM13 and installed it by "fastboot flash boot boot.img"
- then i installed CM13 by the option "update" in CM_recovery
- after that i maybe tried to install TWRP (from the link above) by the ADB command: fastboot flash recovery twrp.img. Would that have worked?
- or i did it by the app "TWRP manager" which i have also installed
In any case until your answer in this topic i have not heard about the "boot" part having to be integrated into TWRP for it to work on the xperia.
Anyway: it works on my pollux_windy ok.
BTW: if it should some time in the future be necessary to install TWRP again on my "windy" would you have a link for a TWRP+boot.img for the "windy" as well?

"fastboot flash recovery" command will not work, because sony devices (at least besides the very latest ones) don't have separate recovery partition, as nexus and other manufacturers have. That's why recovery should be integrated with kernel in boot.img
TWRP manager could have possibly installed it for you properly, but to FOTA partition which is used to install OTA updates on stock Sony firmware.
On unlocked bootloader it is not in use and could store TWRP recovery permanently (as normal recovery partition).

Yes, i did. But in your tutorial i do not mention anything about the sort of recovery it needs to wor properly: recovery inkluding the kernel. Did you read the hints by Rootk1t above in this topic?
Sony doesn't have a Recovery partition.
Hence you need a FOTAkernel compatible recovery (latest TWRP 3.x are) (hack that takes the Sony partition reserved for over the air updates, and turns it into a persistent recovery partition).
This guide : http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-s/general/twrp-recovery-to-fota-partition-guide-t3258821 looks good but read carefully.
Why don't you try to step back to my guide. Back to the recovery flash.
Fastboot flash temporary TWRP, enter TWRP, format partitions to F2FS, wipe data and then flash RESURECTION REMIX 5.7.4 + Black kernel for pollux + Gapps ?
I will update my tutorial this weekend to explain better.
Keep in touch
@Djibe: just take a look in this topic above, posting #4. This is a file including TWRP + kernel. Only this one i was able to successfully instal by the command:
fastboot flash boot twrp.img
The TWRP that you link in your guide does not work because it does not include the kernel.
You should have pointed it out better to be understandable better by beginners like me
Otherwise: thanks a lot for your help and support anyway

Hi Mate
unfortunately the latest twrp doesn't work, you will need to revert to "twrp-3.1.1-0-x2"
it is working fine, you can do so on windows once all drivers installed correctly or use any Linux operating system
if you need help let me know and will write a detailed instruction how to do it on Linux as it is a lot easier than junk windows
good luck

Through twrp they provided. Wipe cache after flashing.
Yes. Don't flash magisk through twrp. It causes bootloop. You have to patch the kernel and manually flash it.
1. Extract boot.img from the rom.zip
2. Install magisk manager app. Connect to any working network and open magisk manager.
3. Patch the boot.img from 1. It will generate magisk_patched.img to /storage/emulated/0/Download
4. (If you have twrp installed, go to 4.1)
Copy the magisk_patched.img to your pc's adb and fastboot folder and flash it through fastboot.
4.1 Boot to twrp, flash magisk_patched.img to "Boot"
Sorry if my english is bad

TWRP problem... Help

Hello, I have a tablet Xperia Z2 andriod 6.0.1, the original sony rom. I can't upload TWRP, everything loads fine with fastboot and TWRP won't boot because I'd like to install LineageOS. Bootloader unlocked correctly.
Sorry for my bad english and please help
From what I found out, it is possible to upload a custom rom via NUT'S Dual Recovery. Only the download page of this program and the links are inactive. If anyone has it, please link to the NUT'S Dual Recovery program
As you know fastboot, try this and see if you have luck.
Extract your custom rom zip and reveal your .img files.
Put the .img files into the same folder with fastboot.exe
fastboot erase cache
fastboot erase data
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash boot boot.img
If you have luck, it will boot into system. Backup, always, beforehand as it will delete all your data.
Thank you very much, thanks to this I somehow managed to launch TWRP. I have installed LineageOs 18.1, the system works.

How To Guide OTA Update process for rooted nord 2 : Any incremental Thread update Latest Feb 2022

Hi guys so Many users are facing issue while they are rooted and twrp installed on there phone.
They can't able to Flash update through stock settings OR via twrp if they tries to flash it via twrp manually facing no wifi and Bluetooth.
So here is the process to flash any incremental update via twrp just we need update zip, vbmeta image and boot image of old oos version respective to your new update means if. We are upgrading to V11 we need V10 boot img
U can use following commands to extract your current stock boot img after connecting to PC
adb shell
dd if=/dev/block/sdc49 of=/sdcard/boot.img
exit
Note: Remember this process will replace your twrp and removes root to gain root access. We need to repeat twrp installation shown in the following tutorial
TUTORIAL TWRP AND ROOT NORD 2 OXYGEN OS 11 ( Links updated!)
SO finally I successfully rooted with TWRP and root access.thanks to all developers @Eastw1ng @TheMalachite Following are all download links combined in one post Also there are two threads like unlocking boot loader and twrp but there are some...
forum.xda-developers.com
You can gain root acess only by flashing magisk.zip file after step no 7 given under instructions but I didn't tested it yet.

good Instructions! Reboot after flashing boot.img isnt necessary. OTA Update zip can be downloaded within OTA App in Settings (do not press reboot). After downloading you can reboot to TWRP and the file location is: /data/OTA-package/update.zip.

Yes but I don't want to go to automatic reboot and flashing process of OTA Update installation after download which may cause some issues for new users.

HI. This is my 1st OnePlus and OxygenOS. I am now on DN2103_11_A.11 and OTA is available. It is DN2103_11_A.12
Basically I can flash it from TWRP and I do not need to save and flash boot.img afterwards bec OS will be the same version. Is that so? Or am I wrong? And I have to follow threads instructions ?
Thank you

Do the boot.img files in the original post only work on the Indian variant? Where can I get the A11 boot.img for the European variant if I want to update to A12?

Still trying to wrap my head around this (although updating worked fine from A11 to A12 on my EEA variant, thanks @pankspoo!).
Can I actually extract a stock boot.img from a Magisk-rooted phone? Is it stock (in which case why is root removed by the update.zip) or is it modified (in which case, why can I extract it as stock)?

You can use those adb commands while booted in TWRP, without being rooted. So you'll extract the stock boot image
