Should I even bother trying to update H901? - LG V10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Has anyone that's rooted with H901 tried to update to MM? I didn't touch any of the stock apps or other pertinent system settings that might cause an update to fail. I do have TWRP so that might stop it. Sometimes updates just over write the TWRP with the stock recovery.
I'm thinking it probably would not go through but I was also thinking about trying it anyway for the heck of it. I don't want any boot loops if I can help it. I'm hoping for a flashable rooted stock rom someday.. Haha. Thoughts? Worth it?

No. Once you're rooted, there are tools you can use to update ROMs without a computer, but you've got to at least have superuser access.
There's no way to gain that which doesn't require a computer.
I think he's on a rooted ROM already, hence why he's wanting to go back to stock rooted. Use mobile odin from the play store. There's many threads on how to use it, so search for one of those. I'd give you detailed instructions or link you to them, but I'm on my phone and not at home to get to the computer. Hope this helps

[Q] Question about flashing the official Kitkat Rom over Customrom

Hi guys,
actually i have the omnirom (4.4.2) installed on my g2 and i want to flash an official rooted Kitkat Rom with its LG Software features.
How do i have to proceed?
Which files do i need?
If i flash the unrooted Rom by the KDZ file, can i manually root afterwards?
I'm not sure if the root is more difficult with the official KitKat Rom than on custom roms.
Do i have to fully wipe? I am on 4.4.2...
Can someone help please? What about the recovery (TWRP), will i lose it on this way?
Thanks in advance.
Ok so two things, one which model is your phone and two questions don't go in general

Ah sorry...
So can a Mod please move the thread to "G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting"?
Model is D802 (international) should be the vodafone edition
Well currently there is one way of flashing it through recovery in the d802 thread but it has a lot of issues other than that there still is not an official way to do so

Hmm okay i thought now there is a better way...
Can i manually root my device if i flash the official kdz file?
If you are flashing the .kdz with the flash tool, you NEED to do a full wipe or it will fail flashing.

How I downgraded from NC5 OTA to MK2 and back to Rooted NC5!!!

Sorry information deleted. Please see other threads
Your link has been shut down by drop box for too much traffic. Can you use androidfilehost.com?
I tried last night after the link got blocked the first time. I couldn't figure out androidfilehost. I think it's a daily thing with Dropbox so maybe try it tomorrow. Or maybe someone else can figure out how to host them elsewhere.

You can use Surges files from his thread to do the same thing. The directions are there too. I did not use the PIT file. Whenever I did that I got bad errors.

The new files gave me issues so I decided to upload the old files he posted that worked for me. I'm going to find another solution today for not being able to access the dropbox link.
This method worked for me. No pit file needed now I'm on nc5 ota rooted

What's surgs method?

I'm uploading everything now should be up in the morning and I will post the link again.

Yea to be honest I am a little confused on what exactly I need to do to downgrade and then also with safestrap. I currently have an s5 but most likely I'm returning it because my friend gave me an s4. I've been reading up getting ready to root and everything but it seems there are different methods for downgrading so not sure what my best bet is...all I know is I am currently on NC5. From my understanding I have to downgrade..root..then go back to NC5 pre rooted and start with safestrap (however that's done) lol...I came from an s3 with an unlocked bootloader so this is all new to me ..any help would be appreciated
Sent from my SM-G900V using XDA Free mobile app
Just start out and download the downgrade file. If you need Odin I can upload that as well. Then you just put your phone in download mode. And put the downgrade file in the ap slot and click start. It will fail reboot the phone and then use the downgrade system file in the ap slot and it will complete. Then reboot the phone into recovery mode and wipe the cache and do a factory reset data wipe and you should now be on 4.3

Help needed: Ota verification issue

Hello, i am currently on 17.1.2.A.0.314, rooted with SuperSU with survival mode enabled. I get the update notification for 23.0.1.A.0.167, but when i download and try to install it, it says verification failed. I had recovery installed previously but i reflashed the stock firmware to remove it( i didn't wipe the data though), but still it says verification failed. Any help would be highly appreciated.
Thanks.

your rom has to match stock to be able to update
Any changes need to be removed (root, mods, Other stuff alike )

My rom is purely stock with no modifications at all except the root. Some people updated over the air and that saved the root, that's what i was trying to do too.

im not sure how they did it then :/
root counts as a modified system because you have the SU binary and superuser manager
As I told in another thread, OTA update with root is pure luck if everything went good and remain root.

I was able to update rooted phone over the air many times before this one. Now i'll update only when there is some working root method for 4.4.4 (because i just don't want to flash a pre-rooted firmware as i don't want set up the whole phone from starting). Anyway, thanks for help ?.

No, i don't have recovery! Just the root, but still it's not able to verify the ota update. I am not going to update now, pretty much satisfied with the current firmware.

You need to carry out an OTA upgrade for that to work not all carriers support OTA. And those that do may carry out checks that fail, try flashing stock UK (unbranded) .314 I know people who've had success with that one.

You might have to settle for avoiding 4.4.4 then, as I don't know how much effort devs are putting I into finding a new exploit when flashing a pre-rooted rom is so trivial.
Ok i'll try that, but if it fails too then i won't update to 4.4.4.
Thanks for the help!

Return to stock with OTA

I know this is a noob but I want to return to 100% stock just like out of the box. Right now I have unlocked bootloader, custom ROM, and rooted. I want to return to stock and if I do will I get OTA updates like normal? And also how would I go about returning to complete stock? But biggest question would be would I receive OTA if I do?
