Navigation bar always on - Elephone P9000 Questions & Answers

When I first got the phone, there was no navigation bar, you used the one button, which did everything, depending on how many times it was pressed.
Since the phone updated to the latest software, the Navigation Bar is always there. If I change the settings, it disappears, but when I press the button to go back, it just goes to the home screen.
Aby ideas how to get it back to the way it was? I like not having the navigation bar

Factory reset solved the problem.

Mines working now, no reset, I just toggled a few times and it worked.
Just need a few tweaks, like battery % and I have 2 4g icons for some reason

I had the same deal with last up date and did the same things to got it right way.
Still, in WhatsApp when I go to smiley, I have a black bar at the bottom, as if there was the navigation bar. Weird.

ADW EX, text messaging loading troubles

I just switched to ADW ex and I love it... no lag, nice features, however when I get a text message and press the messaging icon sometimes I have to press it 2 or 3 times before anything happens. This is not an issue of the screen not registering a press since the icon lights up when I press it, but nothing else happens after that about 1 out of 10 times.
Also, even though its checked in the options, I get no little red "1" on the icon when I have an unread text. Not sure if others are seeing these issues on the note.

are you talking about the message icon on your dock or homescreen?
Make sure there is an app associated with the icon. If the icon is on your dock....double tap the icon and go to edit. If it is on your homescreen, long press icon and then go to edit.
On the pop up make sure there is a program associated with the icon...like mine says GO SMS Pro in the gray box next to the icon. If there is nothing, then you have no app there. So then just tap the gray box and choose applications and then your messaging app.
make sense?

I was having this same problem, delete your messaging shortcut and recreate it, it seemed to fix the issue for me.

No need to delete. Just long press edit and assign application. You can even change the icon.

Yes you do need to delete. When editing it it shows the right information, but doesnt work, recreating it seems to make it work correctly, atleast for me.
I tried editing it like you said first, it was correct. But i'm a noob so maybe i wasnt looking at it right

OK, as long as it worked good for you that's what counts
welp, good call on delete and recreate. that worked great.
It was just really strange how it would work only part of the time. now its 100%.

Screen estate of the DNA

One thing I noticed as I used the DNA for quite a while is that most apps use only about 90% of the screen (Excluding the reserved space for the status bar), and the remaining 10% is only featuring the settings button on nothing more but just a black bar at the bottom of the screen.
I do not know if the third party applications are not optimized for the narrow 5 inch display of the DNA, or simply forcefully done so by Sense UI, but dedicating 10% of the screen just for the settings button seems...stupid and wasteful.
It would be more practical to reassign the settings button to the physical task viewer button(Either hold to open settings or click for settings and hold for task viewer) and let the apps take over that wasted space...
It's already being worked on
Sent from my Droid DNA. 1080p never looked so sweet.
I believe this was an option on the One X, but for some reason not on the DNA. Hopefully HTC will send out an update, or if not hopefully devs can work it into custom ROM's.
It's not really a fault of the DNA or it's HD screen. Blame the devs of the apps you're using for not conforming to the new holo standard which gets rid of the menu button. Any phone that only has the 3 buttons (whether physical soft-touch or on screen) (aka all JB phones) will have this problem. It's Jellybean doing it, not Sense.
I do like the idea of modifying the ROM to give alternate access to the menu button, but as widespread JB adoption happens, apps will be updated and these black bars will be gone.

Actually there is more to it than that. My Galaxy Nexus never had these bars, and it has no menu key. So really, it is the doing of HTC in the build.prop most likely. I've been using it since ICS, so...
Its not like I jumped to new apps when the DNA came out. I am using the same apps as before.
If you have no menu button, and the app itself doesn't provide you a way to access the menu, how do you get to it? I was under the impression that that bar is put there whenever there is no way to access the menu due to app non-compliance with new standards. If your phone has some other way to get to the menu, then the bar shouldn't show.

The apps use new menus in the top right of three vertical dots, unless they have not been updated (those use the legacy menu). All of the apps I use are updated. The Galaxy Nexus has no menu button. A lot of these apps showing the legacy menus don't even have working legacy menus. For example, Granny Smith has no legacy bar on the Galaxy Nexus but does on the DNA. It doesn't need it either because it has an icon driven menu. The legacy bar enables the sound menu, which is redundant because there is an icon for it.
That is why this is so annoying. HTC needs to fix this, not just app devs.

If an app didn't have a menu button it would appear on the far right next to the recent button. And disappear when not needed. The nexus used on screen keys so the black bar was always there

How to auto hide on screen navigation bar buttons on OnePlus X 6.0.1 os, stock ROM, n

On screen navigation buttons are not hiding on oneplus x, need help. Buttons does not hide and occupy that space, not even minimise if something is played.
Earlier I used to move finger up, from bottom screen then navigation bars displayed. But suddenly something happened. There is no option available for hiding it.
Using 6.0.1 version. Stock ROM not rooted.
Need help ASAP.

That's a peculiar problem .try turning off on screen keys and turn on hardware keys. Restart and turn on on-screen keys.

Not working..
On-screen navigation buttons autohiding perfectly (buttons with transparent black background).
Now it's suddenly turn into black background with buttons and navigation bar does not auto hide (goes down like Nexus devices)
Simple words - want to use full screen again.

Well, try doing factory reset. I can't think of any reason why this would happen. Even if u raise a support ticket, first thing they will do is factory reset. So backup your data and do a factory reset.

Ya, I was thinking of that. But I wanted solution without formatting device. It will be lengthy process as device not rooted. Someone should come up with solution before Sunday otherwise factory reset will be only option for me.
Wiping cache and dalvik cache will help?

Navigation Bar Shortcut Slot Missing

On the last several LG phones that I can remember, there have been 5 positions for navigation shortcuts. On this phone there are only 4. Does anyone know how to add that back in?
I noticed that too on the V30 it only has 4 home touch button slots. WTF?
Do you want the 5th item being the app drawer? If so go to settings, display, home screen, select home then select home & app drawer
My guess is that they had to cut one of the slots out so it wouldn't be crowded with the nav bar hide/app scaling icon now being to the far left.

I've got the full four down there and I've already accidentally ham fingered my nav bar out of existence a few times. First two times I did it I freaked out because I thought I had broken the UI somehow and made my nav bar stop functioning.

I don't suppose there is a setting to get rid of that button huh? Personally it would but the hell out of me having it there.

No, I haven't seen any option for that. I hide it on the home screen but I've realized if I am going to get burn in for anything, it'll be the Google search bar at the top of the home screen.

That works on the LG G5, but not the V30. And the V30 has a larger screen, so it makes no sense to take out the ability for a 5th button.

Dialer notification dots stuck?

Basically whenever I miss a call the dialer shows me in a notification dot for example if I miss 2 calls it shows 2 in the top corner of the apps icon, however they won't go away and are now slowly building up.. I've called the person back, click on the missed call, went through and cleared call history, force stopped the app etc. Doesn't seem to do anything, any idea? Thanks
I have the same issue
Sent from my J8110 using Tapatalk
It's not just the dialer, it's ALL of the apps that allow notification dots on the home screen. There's not even a specific pattern when they do or don't do it. Very frustrating, especially since I've turned notification dots off.

The only temporary solution I've found so far is a full reboot but definitely not worth the inconvenience, really annoying...

Same problem on my Xparia 1. I deleted cache, stopped the dialer app and so on but no luck. Only a factory reset solved the problem for me. That's very annoying.
