How is this not the norm? Reversible micro-USB - Samsung Galaxy S7 Accessories

About a month ago I was browsing a website called "dudeiwantthat.com" that has all sorts of random cool stuff that I've often never heard of (I love that site). And I came across a reversible Micro-USB adapter, I believe the brand then was called McFlip, or something similar. I checked out and it didn't explain much, like whether it supported Quickcharge or anything like that. I was in the middle of something and kinda forgot about it. A couple days ago it popped back into my head and I asked a handful of friends if they've ever seen anything like that and they were all shocked to hear it existed. So I just googled the term to see if there were any others that ARE QuickCharge and found this one:
http://www.amazon.com/Cambond-Reversible-Charging-Braided-Connecting/dp/B00V3FRZPE
braided cable, QuickCharge, reversible Micro-USB adapter. I'll be picking up a few myself. But figured I'd let everybody else know in case some of you think it's as cool as I do. After having an S5 for so long, and what a pain it was just to plug that thing in, finding out there's a cable that i don't even need to worry about being upside down. And the pricing isn't bad for what looks like a durable cable that will be a cinch to use tired, in the dark, whatever. I plan to do a review for it when I get it. But if someone already has one, or gets one before me, please let me know how it is. IMO every micro-USB cable made now should be like this. Seems like common sense to me

I backed the MicFlip on Indegogo, and 1000 years later once I received the product, I was pretty disappointed. It was super finicky, only working if wiggled in my Nexus 6, and won't work in my s7 at all. Obviously other brands will vary, but that left a bad taste in my mouth for them.

In the features section of that cable you linked, it days the USB end is reversible, not the micro usb end. So im not sure this cable solves any problems for me.

sorry about that. I know the McFlip was the micro side, but aparently it was a good concept with **** execution. But it sounds like there are some companies making quality ones with the reversible micro plug. Though it's almost too ironic that they finally come up with something like that just in time for the death of Micro USB. And USB-A as a whole for that matter

awesome. Thanks for that info. I was worried that they might be **** quality like the McFlip apparently is

why is the hyperlink a bizrate? Is that some sort of affiliate?

BelayCords that I backed on Kickstarter for Apple Lightning cables has been great. USB side reversible.

Quick charge has nothing at all to do with the cable. It's negotiated between the phone and the charger. Any Micro USB cable will work.

It isn't possible to have a reversible micro USB plug. The female receptor is shape dependent, unlike the full sized USB connector which is non-shape dependent..

Not at all. The head rotates. It can still ONLY be inserted in one (and only one) orientation. It's the same thing as turning the cable upside down. You would simply be rotating by the head instead of the cable. If you try to insert the male micro USB head into the female receptor, it still will only work if it is turned the right way.
In contrast, the full sized USB head (in this case) can be inserted either way, without rotation.
The result is still that the micro USB connector side is still not reversible.

I have three of the McFlip cables. They all work fine. What I'm waiting on is one with a detachable magnetic tip. Hoping my ZNaps gets shipped soon!

I have the blitzwolf cable, and all I can say is WOW. I have had a lot micro usb cables, but never before such an awesome quality. The cable itself is so heavy and full of copper, you can bend it and then it stays that way. WOW.
The connectors, on both ends are reversible and of Mega high quality. not super-high, but mega-high. period

Updating with just the patched classes, instead of the update.zip due to complaints. Inside you will find the source to the app (yeah doing it in Settings.apk would be better, I'm being lazy) and the modified classes for services.jar. This is not working yet, it is being uploaded so other devs can tinker as well. We need kernel source before this will work, more than likely.

From what I have gathered, there are three common types of cables most people might have hiding in their closet. There are multiple devices that use these types of cables, but most of them tend to follow those pinouts. If we definitively find out the right layout, you can mod a cable you already have, or get them for dirt cheap off of ebay/monoprice (fully recommended, they have nice cables for cheap).

A) Samsung Galaxy S official cable, Nokia (cable #CA-75U), cables that come with most Media Players (Archos, Gigabeat, Creative, Zen Vision, Cowon iAudio, Apple iBook)
B) Standard Camcorder cable -This is the most likely kind that you'd find at a store if it doesn't specify what it is for.
C) Zune
D) iPod Video
Quick Fix
Some cables you already have can be used without modding the cable, even if the pinout isn't the same.
Type B/C/D device with a different Type B/C/D cable
By plugging the video plug into one of the audio channels, and vice versa, you can swap the signal without cutting your cable. Refer to the chart to see which audio channel to plug the video into.
Type B device with a Type A cable
Plug the cable in all the way, then pull it out one notch. You will have only one working audio channel though, so this will sacrifice audio quality.
What type do I have?
If you have a multimeter, it is easy to find which type of cable you have. Set your multimeter to resistance (ohms). Put one lead on an RCA signal pin, then touch the other to each of the 4 spots on 3.5mm jack. Whichever one shows ~0 ohms means that that RCA signal is connected to that spot on the jack. Some MM have a continuity mode that will beep whenever you make a closed circuit. This is easier since you don't have to look at the MM while you are doing this.

What the!!!??
Have you actually gotten to see anything on the screen yet?? I'm going to bust this out and try it now. I have my own cable that has been sitting in the packaging for weeks just waiting for someone to come out with this. I will test it out and report back shortly. I have no qualms about bringing my Fascinate back from the dead if I bork it ...
If this works, and something actually shows up on the TV, super big thanks!
Wait as in a micro usb to composite/component? HDMI?
Wait, wha? This would be awesome!
Before I blow $40 on cable ... do you know if this is supposed to only work for analog NTSC output or if HDMI output over the microUSB is one of the available options?
edit: sorry finakechi, you beat me to it.
Subscribed.
3.5mm to RCA, we haven't gotten output to the screen. I ordered a grip of cables and a fascinate, but it wont be til friday when I can test it.
Testing shows it seems to work, and nolonger errors. We just haven't gotten output. I posted here with hopes of someone having a working cable with the right pinout, or another dev picking up interest and joining us.
the usb to hdmi cable is to costly and I won't be looking into it unless someone sends me one. I think RCA is good enough.
I know we have two cables at work that are from two different digital cameras..they both work with their respective cameras but only one works with the fascinate and the vibrant phones we have here... the pinout looks the same though... so you may be getting output and you just don't know it yet.
Got an error report:
<fuzzhead> i do think your app/patch is kind of working or trying to work though. i opened gallery and video player and both fc'ed while i was playing with rcas. leads me to believe it was trying to output
If someone with experience using logcat can reproduce this, and get me the log it would greatly help.

If the cable doesnt work, switch out the wires, it might not be yellow that is video out. Also if it doesnt work, then we just investigate further.

Hahaha. That is a little bit of an "oopsie."
Edit: Well, this is weird. I installed the patch, and now it's doing the robotic female voice and taking forever to reboot. I wiped caches and such, but I don't remember changing any voodoo settings ... hmm. Yeah, it's still talking to me. Weird. We'll see what happens. I'm on EB01, but not a superclean. Suppose locking up a phone is as good a reason as any to try a new ROM.
Well, after a successful boot, the app indeed runs and lets me change settings without any apparent issues - no force closes, etc. I have the mini jack to the three RCA breakout cables. It's the Dynex brand from Best Buy (purchased when I still had employee discount, of course!) With TV Out enabled or disabled (I tested PAL and NTSC both just for fun) I couldn't get the TV to display any audio or video regardless of how I plugged each cable in - red, white, or yellow. I am going to have to find some cable clamps and do some individual circuit testing and see if it's send out any signal at all, and trace it. It should at least be sending out some kind of audio, because I tested regular stereo headphones, and they still work. I'm excited to monkey around with this a bit. If I can narrow down which signal is going where on the 3.5 to RCA adapter cable I have, I can at least detect, hopefully, that audio is still being sent properly, and even more hopefully, if there is a pos/neg combo that will magically be a video signal. No more time to work on this tonight though.
Thankyou, jcase. I am waited for it, will beta test it as soon as get my cable.

[DIY] "Car Dock" Cable - USB audio out + charging - UPDATED! (11-9-11)

I just made my own "car dock" cable based on the information over the "Fun with resistors" thread.
Basically I have a cable with a micro-usb connector that switch my phone to "car dock" mode, audio via usb/aux and charging.
CHECK THE 2ND POST FOR UPDATES, PICTURES AND A QUICK VIDEO.
WARNING:
This cable can physically damage/destroy your phone if made incorrectly.
If you don't have experience soldering electronics and small parts maybe you should not try this.
The usb cable will NOT work for sync/data - just charging.
I'm not responsible if you damage or destroy your phone/property and/or injury yourself or others.
Use this instructions at your own risk.
Parts that I used:
micro usb male connector (Digi-Key pn: 609-4051-ND)
619K ohm resistor (Digi-Key pn: RNF14FTD619KCT-ND)
6ft 3.5mm Stereo Plug/Plug M/M Cable (MonoPrice.com pid: 644)
1.5ft USB 2.0 A Male to Micro 5pin Male 28/28AWG Cable (MonoPrice.com pid: 5137)
I should have used a longer cable but that's what I had at home
This is the pin-out for the usb connector:

Preparations:
1) Cut one of the aux cable connectors and expose the 3 wires:
Yellow = common ground
White = right channel
Red = left channel
The left/right channel may be inverted, test on your phone before you make the cable.
2) Cut the micro usb connector from the usb cable and expose the 4 wires:
Red = +5vcc
Black = ground
Green = not used
White = not used
Soldering:
Start with the audio cable:
Solder left channel wire to pin 2
Solder right channel wire to pin 3
Do NOT solder the ground wire yet
Now with the usb cable:
Solder red wire wire to pin 1
Do NOT solder the ground (black wire) yet
With the resistor:
Solder 1 resistor leg to pin 4
Solder the other resistor leg + audio ground (yellow wire) + usb ground (black wire) to pin 5
Almost done...
Test all the connections for short-circuit with a digital multimeter
Triple check for the right cable on the right place, you don't want to put that +5vcc on the wrong pin, it will fry your phone!
Just finish it with some epoxy glue to make sure the cables won't break where you soldered them and some shrink tube for a polished finish.
You must go to Settings > Dock Settings > Audio output mode and enable it to have the audio-out working.
I will post pictures next week when I will make a new cable with longer usb and better finish.
The cable I have now works fine, it's just ugly...
I hope this info will be useful for someone
Thanks to TheBeano for the info about the resistors

Hello all!
Thank you to all the people who rated this thread and enjoyed the info
After building my first cable from two different cables and finishing it up with some epoxy putty I started searching for a better and easier way to build this cable.
While searching on some Chinese accessories website I've found an iPhone USB/aux cable that would make this build easier and nicer.
This is the USB/aux cable from DealExtreme.com (item #34654):
From eBay I got this micro-usb connector with a "housing" (link):
The resistor is the same from the original post:
With this parts in hand I started by taking the iPhone connector apart:
With the soldering iron I removed the connector and with an blade I removed the cable "terminator"(?) so I could expose more wire and use my own "terminator"(?):
Using a multimeter and my "pro-mod" I was able to verify the cables and plugs.
All cables matched so I started soldering:
After checking for short-circuits and fixing the mistake I always make (I invert left and right channels) it was time to squeeze everything inside that tiny housing:
It looks nice but now let's test it:
Pictures are worth 1,000 words but a video is priceless (don't mind the music):
Great write up!
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using xda premium
Nice write up. Very useful. Thanks
Awesome, gunna order some of these parts.
Exactly What I Wanted
This is EXACTLY what I was looking for!! Once I see a picture/video of it in action, I'll get the parts. Question is, are you going to make your own car dock for it? Or are you going to purchase a generic dock? I'd like something that I can slide the phone into easily (and have the phone be horizontal). I am curious about the possibility of getting Digital Audio out instead of Analog. You seem to be the expert, do you think that's possible? Thanks!
I'm 95% certain digital audio out is not possible, except maybe for MHL/HDMI audio output via the MHL adapter.
There just aren't any provisions for it.
Thanks guys for the replies!
I got some PM about selling the cable. Right now I can't do it as I don't have enough time to make a good and durable cable.
The cable I have is kinda put together with epoxy putty and some shrink tubes.
Today I tested the cable and it works fine on my car.
I just found some iPod/iPhone cable that I think can make this build be easier and faster, basically you will change the apple connector for the micro-usb and add the resistor. I still waiting for the parts to arrive to test this new idea.
As Entropy512 said digital audio isn't possible with this setup but I will look in to it in the future to see if it's possible to use the mhl adaptor just for the audio.
Tomorrow I will post the pictures and a small video from it working with my current cable.
Thanks once again for the replies!
This is awesome thanks!! If you can create a few of these I would definitely be in for buying one. I am hoping to replace my itouch in the car with the phone. I already have a nice dock thus just need a cable.

So digital audio out is not possible (that's kinda what I figured). But what about getting a USB->Digital Audio Out? I realize the kernel would have to support a device like this. I'm very new to the Android scene (less than a week). But I'd think that it would be possible. I can't post links yet, but it was a $25 USB->SPDIF device on Amazon. The reason I'm asking is that I'd like a way to eliminate the "road noise" (alternator noise) from my music.
And how are you controlling your music in your car? Do you have a remote for the phone? Bluetooth? Or are you doing it the "old fashioned way". LoL! Thanks again for your efforts!

You can use MHL->HDMI adapter then put in a HDMI->Digital audio converter to get the digital audio out without any modification to software. MonoPrice.com has both but I believe the later requires some external AC power.
I have an official Samsung car dock for my Captivate. After reading OP's post, I decided to mod that car dock. I stripe out the part that connects to Captivate USB port and contains microUSB socket for power and 3.5mm audio jack (it already has the required resisitor inside). Now all I need is some 5-wire microUSB male to female extension cable. This kind of cable is hard to come by but do exist.
I did some reading in the 'fun with resistors' thread, and while this mod looks to work, I'm worried about the lack of sufficient charging amperage. It seems that in order to do "high current charging" you need to short pins 4 and 5 on the micro USB plug. Well, those are in use by the audio output. This seems to be a _major_ design flaw in MHL. So basically, you'd have to turn off anything you don't need (WiFi primarily, maybe Bluetooth if you don't want integrated hands-free with your car's head-unit) in order to get an actual charge. So maybe this cable with a Tasker function to turn off those services and activate your Car Home app.
Please take what I say with a grain of salt. Again, I'm very new to Android and I'm probably wrong.

The device assumes that a proper high-current supply is present when a dock or MHL ID resistor is detected.

In theory, I believe the device has USB Host/USB OTG support - but I know very little about enabling it. It MIGHT be possible to get USB sound cart to sort-of work - but getting the phone to route audio to the "new" interface would be extremely difficult.
I used to deal with Digikey decades ago .....
Are they selling "onesies" of parts now or do you have to buy multiples?
The items that I've listed you can buy just 1.
They have other items where the minimum order is 5000.

Mouser is usually a bit better about minimum order quantity though - I think digikey improved over the years in that regard.
Usually Mouser has their quantity price breaks earlier.

Proprietary power cable? Seriously HTC? WTF....

Upgraded my wife to a Rezound that came in yesterday. What the heck is up with the proprietary cable?
I thought we'd all moved past this nonsense. I had a standard Micro-USB cable with my Dinc2 that worked JUST FINE.
And before you all feel the need to tell me, yes I KNOW that a standard Micro-USB cable will still charge the Rezound, but why make the included cable different then?
Sorry for the rant. Carry on...

Stupid rant. Its called an EXT-micro usb. It is EXACTLY the same to use your old cables, these are just more secure and keep dumbasses from forcing the plugs in upside down.
yeah man, it's def a more secure lock than the standard micro usb i believe. fits a lot more snug; maybe now we won't be seeing the problems we saw iwth the Inc 2, which was all of the usb charge ports coming lose on the board and having to be replaced!!
No, its a totally legit rant. This is my first micro-usb phone, and as such, the provided cable is the only one in the house. Most of my friends and my wife have micro-usb phones and none of them can use my cable in a pinch. HTC did the same thing with my TP2 and its mini ext port, and it was an annoyance more often than you would expect.
This "policy" only screws owners with a unitasker cable (alton brown anyone??), while providing no noticeable benefit (making sure its plugged in correctly? really? This cable doesnt make it easier to plug in blindly, and if you have to look at it to plug it in anyway, then regular micro-usb cables shouldn't be any problem...). I'm right there with ya, Bust
edit: I suppose a more stable connection, due to it being bigger than a standard micro port is a valid argument, but I havent had any problems with the standard micro cables that I've tried.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't one of the advantages of the ext USB that it can also carry audio? I think this is what allows the MHL and hdmi adapters to work, as well as the car docks that you just set the phone in to charge and play audio. And since it is backward compatible, there seems to be no disadvantage to using the newer port.

It's a stupid rant because a standard HTC micro USB cable is like 4 bucks shipped. If you have so many issues with it, buy the four dollar one. I prefer my the ext micro USB, the standard micro USB on my OG Droid sucked, always felt like I was going to break the damn thing.
Seriously, it's four bucks.

I dont think anyone is complaining about the cost of extra cables, just the fact that the cable cant be used for anything else. I'd be picking up extra cables anyway. In my experience with the mini-ext, I loved the fact that I could use one of the 20 mini cables I had lying around. Seriously...cameras, mp3 players, mice, GPSs...everything had a cable that would charge my phone. The fact that the cable provided by HTC could only be used for one device just seemed silly to me. Its not a big deal, which may be a requirement of yours for rants to be considered valid, but it is a legit gripe...IMO.

They did it just to piss you off .
Its a new standard... micro USB had similar rants about it... (just like any new standard) "I can't use my reguar USB cables with it, regular USB was fine blah blah" just like any new standard connection it takes people a while to catch up.
The complaint about single use cable... HDMI is single use yet no one complains about it.
This cable is a new standard that combines USB with a media (HDMI) connection. This allows us to have only one connection port on our devices rather than two. Which brings up the point that other phones had special one off connections for HDMI that required an adapter, and it took up extra room on the device.
Micro USB was pretty much the standard for phones for at least the past year and a half, (not just smart phones either) and all those cords are compatible with this new standard.
At least this is a new standard and not some HTC only crap.
I ordered my Rezound online. What pissed me off was .... I get my new phone and suddenly I can not charge the dam thing in my car because the plug is different than my Touch Pro 2 / old Motorola Q9 handset usb cord. Then I had to run up to the dumb VZW store and pay $32 for a proprietary car charger . Man, what a rip.

I suppose in 2 years they will change it again and suddenly we all will have to buy that new $45 Nano-USB cord/adaptor. :s

umm, you can get some standard micro usb cords. The tp2 and q9 handsets are quite old and use mini-usb's which haven't been the standard in about 2 years. you can also buy mini to micro usb adapters that plug into the mini usb and make it a micro usb. Cost me 5bucks a piece on amazon...
Or you could complain about not doing your homework before you bought the phone. Yeah, lets do that instead...

I would stick to the higher quality micro usb cords, like the ones that have come with other htc phones. Those have worked fine for me, but a split micro usb cord I use at work to charge my bolt and my hotspot caused my phone to overheat.
Not My Problem Other People Can't Use My Cable. It Would Be Nice And Generous As I Like To Be; I Can't Please Everyone.
Also Think Back Before The Micro-USB Almost Every Phone Has A Different Cable For Charging.

First, this is NOT ExtUSB. ExtUSB was what the older HTC devices had. It was compatible with the mini-USB. It combined mini-USB with audio out connections. (11 pin VS the standard 5, while normal USB was 4)

That is the ExtUSB, it is shaped like the mini-USB but with only one bottom corner tapered.
Here is a picture of other styles as comparison. The type most used with mobile devices was mini-B, the new standard for phones is micro-B
Second, the Rezound uses MHL, it is compatible with both variants of microUSB cables.

The only device I heard of using extmicro is the flyer. Looking in our devices port it seems to be just 5 pins. I believe extmicro is 12 pin. I have a MHL adapter and I use a standard 5 pin micro usb cable with it and it works fine. It passes audio and video over the cable.

Micro USB Charger Cable that fits

I am looking for a Micro USB Charger cable that actually fits. I have numerous charger cables but the head on all the cables I have are a little too fat. The door that protects the port is constantly in the way. I have included a picture of it.
Anyone find some cheap cables that I can buy that mimic what I got with my tablet?

One of them is a logitech. The other is just a generic cable. I will check out monoprice and a few others. I had a bunch of leftover cables and I may need to shop around to find one.
EDIT: Found a Monoprice one that fits. I believe that most from monoprice will fit easily. Going to order a couple.
The hats wrong with the one that came bundled with the tablet? No issues here.
I had tryout 4 USB cable, 3 out of it fit nicely. The only not fit is newer Samsung cable which too fat in general.

I never noticed, does the supplied USB cable fit perfectly?
I am using a kindle white cable and the sony supplid plug to charge my Tablet Z, but the cable end is about 1mm too wide. I too will be looking for another cable ideally 1.5 metres long, any ideas? (UK)
Does it matter what brand of cable you use to get the best charge, is the plug amperage the only important factor?
I also find the supplied micro usb cable to be way too short. Would a USB extension cable work?

Yes. Maximum length for a USB 2.0 cable is 16 feet (5 meters); however, for reliability, I would not use a cable length over 10 feet (3 meters).

The brand doesn't really matter so much as knowing it is a good quality cable, you don't want some el cheapo half-assed cable that burns your charging port up.
The stock charger fits perfectly as do my Note 2 and old Moto RAZR cords.
I've recently ordered some Fosmon cords that are 6 feet long and should be here in the next couple of days, hopefully they'll work with the XTZ. I'll post some feedback when I get a chance to test them.

dock connector layout

Can anyone who has the dk30 dock connector throw it on a tester to find out which pin is positive and which is negative in relation to the phone? I have my ultra coming today and would like to cnc myself a few docks (One for the shop, one for home and a wider dock plate for my truck) at my shop instead of buying 3 docks and customizing one for the truck.. I am planning on using some thick acrylic to make the docks. I will share the results here when I get them done.
Thanks!
Someone has to have purchased one of these docks who has a simple voltage tester!
After reading the bad reviews on the dock, I want to start making these custom docks. I have everything I need to make the docks except the pin layout on the device. I don't want to risk applying current backwards seeing the connector is only able to be installed one way.
All I need to know is which pin is positive and I can make the mold for the docks.
I would like to know this too! Please someone with the DK30 make a quick measurement!
Regards
parts ordered
I have pogo pins, micro usb breakout boards, and small rare earth magnets on order. I plan on making a mold for a connector which can be used in different dock configurations. I have a cnc router so can simply make either wood or plastic docks (maybe even aluminum) to receive the custom connector. If all goes well, I should be able to reproduce them. If someone can take this reading for me, I will send them a dock when I complete them (only the first person). I will also post the results in a new thread. 4 days with the ultra and I'm already sick of the doors over the ports. I can do better than the sony dock for sure!

I made a prototype out of some white corian while waiting for the rest of the parts to come in. I ultimately want to be able to plug a micro usb into the back of the dock as that is mainly what I have everywhere already. The full sized usb on the Sony dock is just stupid! Anyway this is just a quick one.. no magnets, just gravity to make the connection. I will be making an improved version as soon as my parts come in. I also plan on incorporating an nfc tag so I can set up the phone to open car mode when on the road, a clock when next to the bed, etc.

I'm not sure why I would want to use the dock at the same time as connection ting the device Over USB. I use wireless transfer for files and seldom have a reason to plug in other than for charging. In fact I Wonder if there would be a problem connecting 2 power sources at once.
USB can be use for plug OTG as well. Like usb keys, xbox controller and as much usb devices android accept. It is true that each person use things differently, prior use for me when I finally will get a dock will be for can use OTG and charge my phone in the same time. As main reason I limit use of Keyboard, mouse and xbox controller on android devices is mainly because I can't charge in same time. Magnetic charging really seduced me ^^

I am waiting on some micro USB breakout boards as well as Some magnets to play around with. I will keep this current design for use at my shop, but am planning a car dock and one for next to the bed. Both will have a nfc chip embedded in them. I will post the final product here or will more than likely link to a new thread. I have to see how long they take me.. Everybody definitely has their own preference! I use a bluetooth mouse, keyboard and controller. Otg was way too cumbersome, especially when having to use a powered hub. I love the ultra because i can log in remotely to my computer and tweak cad drawings on the road if in a pinch using the mouse and keyboard.. the screen size and resolution on this thing are great. Bluetooth just works so much better for me. i have never had a need to attach a thumb drive to my phone.
A dock which allows you to access the usb port would be easy enough though. I simply don't ever want to open the door to the usb port again Hell, I may even make a custom connector for use with a power pack so that can use the dock pins as well!

Looks good , will you be making a version that works with a case on the phone ?
For example I'm using a Incipio DualPro That I cut & modified in the spot
were the Magnet charger hooks up . I would be interest in both car & desk mount
if it would work with my case on & a set of both for when I don't use my case .
THANKS for the update .
Any Updates on your docks ???
Was also wondering if you might want to tackle a project & make a belt clip the phone can
slide in similar to this 1 , but maybe with the holder section on the magnet side placed above
& below the charge section . I would be very willing to pay for a couple & a friend who has the
Z ultra also would like a couple . I'm sure there is a market for it .
link to example of what I'm talking about .

I am talking about just the section are Phone would slide into so we can clip it onto our belt , computer bag , backpack , pocket , ect ...
please let me know what you think ??? :fingers-crossed:
These car docks could turn into your next business venture.
I'm an OTR truck driver. I use my Note 2 for all the normal stuff plus I have a truck GPS that runs on it. Needless to say that it is on my dash 24x7 due to other trucking apps. One of my big problems is due to the vibration USB ports don't last long. I love the magnetic charge. I like the high sides for control of the unit. I do have 110 volt power running to the dashboard to plug things in.
If you decide you are going to make a few of these let me know how much. I'm sure truck drivers will eat these up. I can see where these phones and going to be popular. For those who don't know for a truck driver to basically pick up their phone and dial it the fine for him us over $2000. The fine that goes to the company for the same offense is over $11,000. If you are lucky enough to be an owner-operator you get to pay both fines. The use of the processor, OK Google, and other voice command features will explode with this type of phone. We are still allowed to use bluetooth to talk and you can press the button on the side of your headset to do things.
