How to fix the poor audio recording while shooting a video... - Xiaomi Mi 5 Guides, News, & Discussion

Hi there,
I'm still waiting my Mi5 to arrive but I saw a few reports that the audio recording quality while making a video is very poor by default and the volume is very low.
Here is how to make a workaround -
1. Download Open Camera (it's free) - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.sourceforge.opencamera&hl=bg
2. Go to Settings
3. Go to Video Settings
4. Go to Audio Source
5. Select External mic (if present)
6. Profit
I have Mi4C right now, it's exactly the same case..

[Q] can't use option AUDIO in service menu

Hi all,
Samsung Galaxy SII GT-I9100M
Generally I have a problem with my mic - as many others - ppl sometimes can hardly hear me or don't hear me at all when talking on the phone EVEN I can talk normally on Viber or Skype etc AND Voice Recording recognizes very low sound very GOOD
So I found on this forum, or somewhere, an service menu *#*#197328640#*#* where you can adjust some audio settings - BUT I CANT go only into this AUDIO (no 5) option, in all others everything works just fine.
Does someone know how to resolve this and enter into this sub-menu AUDIO, or maybe you have some better solution for resolving mic issue?
PLS HELP
This one works

SOLUTION for bad audio video recording :)

Frustrated with bad audio on recorded videos, I was determined to find a way around it, because there is obviously a problem with noise canceling microphones.
so I stumbled upon a user somewhere on some website saying how he tried this APP https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zeronoiseapps.secretvideorecorder&hl=en recorder where you can choose WHICH microphone to use on a phone, and if you pick "Mic" under options it records perfect!
now all we need to find is another camera app that has thit option as well, as this one is made for Spy recording or something like that as it works without showing what you are recording!
Finally a normal solution
Alternatively you can install XCam LG and buy the settings app off the play store($2). The settings app has an audio noise gate option which fixes the sound issue along with a myriad of other useful settings. Only down side is that its not free.
I had xcam installed, by xdabeb, but no luck with that, although didn't know bout that settings app

forgot to ask, what app is that? Does it give you an option to turn off microphones, and choosing which one to use?
Its called XCam LG Settings. Sorry but no it doesn't include an option to choose which microphone to record from.
Does xcam settings fix the annoying issue if you record sound louder than say a whisper it will clip and sound like garbage?

Viper4Android car audio

I have a RoadNavi S160 (Android) installed as a head unit in my car, stock speakers + undearseat subwoofer ( Connected to the rear speakers ). I have flashed the unit with rooted Kotix ROM which has a preinstalled V4A.
I've managed to get it to work with PowerAmp, but thats where it ends...
1. Which settings shoulld i be working with? (headset? speaker? bluetooth? USB? - or all of them? )
I have tried to play around with them, but i am totally lost! - only the speaker tab makes a difference to the sound.
2. The IRS files don't seem to make any difference to the sound ( I can change them, and driver status shows as processing )
3. With the equlizer only(no IRS) the speakers sound either too flat or too distorted
I am not after a highest quality audio, but would like to hear a nice punchy bass and decent vocals ( without cracking speakers! )
Thank you all
Can you use PowerAMP (the app itself?)
If yes! Well Poweramp uses something called "DirectMusicControl" so it will only use PowerAmp no matter what you set in Viper4Android!
Go to settings --> Audio --> Enhanced Settings (in my case the last point on Audio) --> First Entry is the "DirectVolumeControl"
Klick the box so it's unticked and play some music with poweramp while you open up Viper and set everything to your liking!
WARNING: Maybe you should reset ViperSettings to default if possible not that you blow away speakers
Thanks for the reply!
I have already managed to get those two to work together and since posting my initial question I've figured out the way to use the IRS's ( turns out I copied a folder full of files into the kernel, instead of extracting just the files into the existing kernel folder ).
But I must say that I am struggling to get it working as well as it probably can.
The settings within the "headset" tab seem to have no effect whatsoever, and only the settings from the "speaker" tab seem to make a difference.
Having said that, no matter what IRS I use, it just sounds wrong ( too quite, too loud, not enough bass or too much bass )
Thinking about it - is there a way to default v4a to set parameters within the headset tab instead of the speaker?
This would enable me to have a greater controll ( and possibly sort my issues ) over bass, clarity etc.?
Thanks

go to headseat tab, in setting (3dot at upper left at v4a 2.4.0) choose lock effect mode headset

[Help] Camcorder Stereo sides wrong. Swap recorded channel order permanently?

Hi, beloved community.
I am using a fresh Redmi Note 4 SD (also known as Redmi Note 4X), BL unlocked, MIUI 8.2.
Also own a Redmi 4X SD, which suffers from the same disease.
I am confused, that nobody has noticed it before. When recording videos, holding the phone with your right hand, buttons up, so that they can be pressed down:
In this normal setting, the Stereo-channels are switched in the recording! Meaning:
--> The main mic is recording the LEFT channel, the noise-cancelling, secondary mic is recording the RIGHT channel.
It is bugging, when voices of people in the screens right side appear from the left channel an VV.
Is there a driver or an app, an exposed module or a patch that cures this? I know, It seems to be totally unimportant, what mic is recording which channel, except when it comes to the camcorder application...
- it is the same with all camcorders i tried, stock included, of course.
- I already enhanced the sound-quality by the patches and root-editing provided here in the forums.
- as a compromise, I could live with an app, that just save the shot movie with swapped stereo channels without reencoding much.
Please help me enhance the camera usability even further. Thanks a lot!

Too much noise during audio/video recordings

Hello,
I've a problem with my Z5c when video/audio recording. There's quite some noise and a ticking sound regardless of how quiet it is in the recording environment.
I've made a loop video of one of my recordings when i've tried testing different settings. Please note that the noise is more easily noticeable when listing to a recording on the phone itself - here's the link youtu.be/AF5EDJtJIMI (new user, can't use outside links). The odd thing is that the sound gain is poor, meaning that when i record someone speaking, standing at 1.5m away from the phone, the voice can barely be heard.
Below is a list of phone settings and tests/results i've performed:
- Android version: 7.1.1 stock
- Mic sensitivity: Automatic (I've tried the rest of settings but none seemed to "fix" my issue)
- During calls: no problem
- Main/Secondary microphone tests (from *#*#7378423#*#*): no noise but the volume is so low
- Various apps for Audio Recording: same issues as the camera
- Various apps for Video Recording: same issues
I've tried searching for similar issues but with no luck - has anyone else encountered this?
Could this be a hardware or software issue?
With respect,
Bogdan
