It looks like a small update, but the interface is now extremely smooth
Version 1.4 was very stuttering while using the settings, even after 10 times factory reset.
There are some new watchfaces, and the translation in settings is also a bit better.
Took me a 3 a 4 factory resets to get this update, but it is worth it.

I don't suppose ambient has been improved? Low-bit ambient is just terrible. My only real issue with the watch.

Got the update now.
NKernel works, rootable, TWRP tethered works on big Zenwatch 2.

Good to know, I was going to try flashing nKernel since I tried momentum and it seems to break wrist gestures, although it could possibly be something else breaking them on my device

Its definitly NKernel, battery feels normal on stock kernel.

Battery is draining fast for me on momentum so it looks like we'll be stuck with stock until the kernels are updated
Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk

Newest release is rootable, NKernel does not go to deep sleep. (Neither does Momentum apparently)
Kernel Adiutor is installable, standard tweakable settings.
Only one core active at stock, all 4 cores can be made active.
Frequencies 600 and 787 MHz, no Hotplug.
Governors available: ondemand (active), userspace, powersave, performance.
Thermal, GPU, IO Scheduler, LMK, Virtual Mem, Network Protocol is tweakable on stock kernel in Adiutor.
Stock kernel feels way more snappy than in older releases (I did uninstall some apps though), one core wit 787 seems to be as fast as 2 cores with 600 MHz Max in previous MM.

+1 for stock being snappier!

After this new update, my battery is draining fast. Poor update.
Is someone else also facing this problem?

If your have a custom kernel installed it will drain the battery. You have to run stock kernel until Asus posts new source and kernels are updated.
Other than that battery seems to be good for anyone who's taken the update

at&t note runs on one processor?!

Ok so im rooted and overclocked and was using setcpu then decided i wanna try something different so i tried system tuner! When i checked the cpu it said that one of the processors are off line! Then i pressed the info button and sure enough it says only reading one! So i went through the settings and found force both cores online!
Since then i have no lag and virtually no checkerboarding on the web! Anyway i was just wondering if im the only one who noticed this and maybe it could help those who say that they are still getting lag on they're roms using dag's kernel!
Also i hope devs will notice this thread since i can't post there yet and take advantage of this how ever they can!
Now don't quote me on this but most likely the second core only turns on for processor intensive activities such as high graphics games or multiple programs running at once. I do find it hard to believe that it would be totally disabled. Most likely this is done to conserve battery.

Okay if this really is the case I could also see at&t disabling the second core totally to save battery because of lte but i guess it will take a dev that has more experience with how qualcomm's multicore cpus work in android. report back with differences in battery life like how much faster does it drain now that both cores are forced on.
if you want both cores on click on boot settings and enable force all cpus online. that heats up your phone and eats more battery though+I do not see any benefits doing that.

I've had it like this for 4 days on average i will take of the charger at 8am now is 8:30pm and i have 27% but i use my navigation for my Job! By 10:30 or so ill have 15% and recharge!
Settings
1836 max
192 min
Governer
Smartassv2
Both cores pushing
Screen off
192 max
In call
384 max
Tomorrow ill post some pics of battery life usage!
And my phone doesn't get any hotter than normal not even while using my navi! Mostly it just gives no lag and better rendering in the browser/maps/etc!!
I was under the impression that Gingerbread didn't fully utilize multiple cores. Need HC or ICS...

Same, but having a better processor helps. Like exynos. I bet once we update to ics if it ever happens, the differences will be only minor between processors, as it runs so nice.

Really? I switched Roms twice today and had to reset that each time! Cpu.0 online Cpu.1 offline! Like i said am i the only one? Lets hear from more people and let us know of any lag or rendering changes after turning on both cpu's! Battery too, i'll post mine tomorrow.
I thought I'd play and I have CPU0 running and CPU1 running.

Not entirely true.. the Galaxy Nexus has a kernel governor that turns one core off when the SCREEN IS OFF, but not when the phone is being used. Multiple kernel creators have since implemented this into their kernels. It is called "hot plugging" and it just turns CPU 1 offline when the screen is off and turns it back on when the screen is on

Just checked mine, rooted and OC with DaG's 0.1 version (first version). When I looked, it said the second CPU was offline. Changed it to online, we'll see how that impacts battery life.
How much of an advantage is smartassv2 anyway?
I just tried this with system tuner and both cpus were working but wone was of and on and zero was always on.
I am running stock rooted. If you just sit yhere and watch it you will see tje sevond core fires and shuts down alot.

Same for me (CPU 0 on, CPU1 off, most times) and I'll say I have noticed no real changes in functionality (speed, rendering, etc) or battery life...
I guess jury is still out or is this a YMMV kind of thing?
I installed system runner and watched the cpus. One was on and the other kicked in periodically
Mine said it was offline as well. Forced it on and am not noticing any difference in speed or temp.
Ill leave it like this to test it further.

As far as I know yes you must have super user permission to alter such system activities
I don't know why everyone is in such a rush to force the second core online, it turns on and off when it needs to.

laggy sometimes?

First off, I want to start this with saying I try most all the new phones as they come out.
I have found after clearing caches, factory resets, etc...that this phone is a little laggy sometimes.
Just scrolling through the OS, little jitters here and there.
Is it just because of the age of the CPU? I was thinking with Oxygen being close to stock, that the 801 would be fine, but I am catching some lag sometimes.
I have used the Nexus 5x, 6p, and OPT to compare and yes, I know those are flagship phones and have more powerful cpus, but just wondering if the little lags are just due to the cpu in this phone.
thanks
Same experience here. I think you must be right about the cpu

What?
Happens for me since OTA 2.1.3
Just revert to 2.1.2 and it's all butter smooth again
Problem lies within oxygen os. 801 is one of the best chips out there. Just wait for custom roms to be stable and ditch oxygen asap.

Battery saver only leaves on essential phone activities and turn off/lower everything is else. CPU clock, animations and other radios, correct??
I just turned off all animations and only been using LTE a good amount of the time. Only lag ive seen is when I open an app, then go to home screen to open another app. A few seconds after the first app opened finally launches then the second app. This was intentional for testing
One thing is for sure, oxygen os still needs to be refined but really good for daily usage.

[GUIDE]Extreme Battery Saving Method*

Since I received so many inquires into how I chose to save a moderate volume of battery power via trial and error, I decided to write up a little "this is what has worked for me" post.
First off, like I said, "this is what has worked for me," so I'm not held accountable if you manage to kcuf up your phone...cool? Ok.
Second, I take no credit in the development, research, exploits and other such methods used to obtain the following masterpieces of Android Development: Kernel Auduitor's devs, @klabit87 for his awesome work and support (as well as those who preceded his work), and @stang5litre for a brilliant ROM (v3) that allows such flexibility.
Now...keep in mind battery life greatly depends on what apps you have and frequent, location, sleep patterns...basically how you use your device. Ok, enough blabbering...
Once you have followed the instructions from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3321587 to a tee you must first read and study how each governor/io is structured and why.
Here are the basic parameters I'm running:
*Version 1 Configuration
Governor = darkness
I/O = fiops
Multi-core Powersaving = Aggressive
MP Decision = off
TCP Congestion Algorithm = reno*
Entropy - Read = 1024
Write = 2048
Low Memory = Aggressive
And I pulled the VFS Cache Pressure down to 5 in Virtual Memory.
Here are the basic parameters I'm running:
*Version 2 Configuration
Governor = alucard
I/O (Internal) = fiops
(External) = vr
Multi-core Powersaving = Disabled
MP Decision = off
*Thermal = SoC Temperature Throttle*
TCP Congestion Algorithm = cubic
Entropy - Read = 256
Write = 1024
Low Memory = Medium
Return VFS Cache Pressure to its default value of 10 in Virtual Memory
In addition to all of that, I use Greenify, Recently, Coolify and various native settings (i.e. Auto-bright -3, screen timeout, no transition animations).
The Version 2 Configuration is a great, harmonically balanced tapestry of performance and energy conservation.
I have tested this particular set-up fairly extensively, with a little tweaking along the way. And I feel that this is the optimal configuration, given the parameters. You guys may wanna play a little bit with the Entropy, because I did so and am still playing with it just to see what kind of performance I can achieve.
Below are a few screenshots of my set up (Version 1 Config).
Screenshots for Version 2 Config http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=66528774&postcount=15
Device: SCH-I545
ROM: stang5litre 5.0 Edition v3
Bootloader: NK4
System: OC1
Xposed: v65 _ Version3.0Alpha4
**NOTE: You WILL have to play around a bit to find out what works best for your style of use.
*EVERY DEVICE/EXPERIENCE METHOD WILL BE DIFFERENT!
***UPDATE: I have discovered that setting TCP Congestion Algorithm to reno has a *POSSIBLE* negative effect on battery life over a certain period of time (1 week to be approximate). I've specifically related this to streaming content on YouTube via background playback (Red or Xposed).
*Thermal* PLEASE READ! I did encounter and record abnormally high temperatures when this setting was set to Core Control.
Feel free to post info, screenshots or feedback that document your device's performance!

I'm on NK4 bootloader with OC1 system, so I'm not sure exactly what could be causing a Wi-Fi issue. If u go to the thread I linked in the OP, you should use the search function to search "Wi-Fi" and read thru them. Also, what ROM are u running? That could have something to do with it as well. If I recall correctly, I saw where someone had the same issue. Always make sure you follow the instructions and deviate not one iota of them.

I will be updating the OP in a few days! I have discovered an awesome new set-up (I HOPE!). This one is performance driven and it has made a HUGE difference in network performance, as well as great multitasking performance. But it has a very small impact on battery life, given the aggressiveness of the CPU scaling. Stay tuned!

Couple days. I need to have a high degree of certainty that these settings hold up thru a wide spectrum of variable situations. So...it is my opinion that this set up delivers a very harmonic balance of performance and battery life with impeccable stability. I've still got a few things I wanna test before I give the verdict. But I'll give a little clue, two actually...alucard and entropy.

I had the Wi-Fi problem too, but a reboot fixed it. Something might not have applied correctly I'm guessing.
Actually it would make sense if it had to do with TCP, because Wi-Fi was fine until I messed with it.

Ooo. Not good. Don't see any reason why it would be doing all that. Are u running in Global mode or LTE/CDMA? I had to switch from global to lte because I was having data drops. But they only occurred at work at a certain time of the day. Also, a good FlashFire backup and a Rom reinstall works wonders. I been running stang's v3 since beginning of February and have put it thru the ringer. App installs/uninstalls, bootloops, and all that. Write possibly the most stable Rom and kernel set up I've ever ran. .

Since I'm not on that ROM, it would be at least a month before I could give any assessment and positive results. If you have tried both methods on Ultra N5 and are not satisfied, play around with it...I explicitly advocate for ppl to play around according to the base parameters I set forth, or even completely different templates. 9 times out of 10, battery life is relative to the user's style of use, as well as what modifications [emphasis on Xposed] you may be implementing.

Marshmallow Update, Impressions, comparison, found bugs etc.

]Finally is here. Marshmallow 26.3.A.0.131 update bring us so wanted improvements.
Here you can post your thoughts, performance reports, or possible bugs you may found.
First what get better:
1. Overall performance - is so smooth, every menu scroll fast.
2. Camera - i can't confirm, seems little bit better
3. WIFI - Wow so much better, before i was trying couple times until get connected, now is instant.
4. Actual perfomance - I make test with Antutu, Asphalt etc. Is much, much better. Antutu score on Android 5 was around 29 k and 30 k max. Marshmallow wake the beast and score now is 32 k. Asphalt 8 is playable on medium settings, before very low settings was only way to play it normal. Do you know why? CPU isn't limited anymore 4 cores on 1.46 Ghz and 0.8 Ghz for the second 4 cores.
What wasn't fix, or improve:
Apps opening time
Overheating is same as before
Low storage
More perfomance needed
Sites loading is slow as before
I found two bugs, the one bug is in the dialer the letters under the numbers are repositioned a little bit, and idk if this is a bug but the status bar doesn't take the color of the app you are using

I think it's called "feature", you may want to try What's New (Play Store) themes if you'd like colourful status-bar. It looks like that stock themes prefer black status bars now.

Seems to be a bug, Detect USB device does not make sense without OTG.
The update is fine but a little bit disappointed specially on performance, apps are still opening very slow although UI is faster, at least now we have a better multitasking performance and no more bugs on RAM.

i think you installed the arm64 version. You need the arm version. Mine is working. Make sure you installed the google app and google play music app before installing. Normally android auto is installing this in its installation, but than it goes in a loop (in mine case). So install them first.
For the rest android auto is slow, because it's using google maps, which is slow in the android 5.1 version. Spotify is working fine btw.
I'm working for a MAnufacture which produces HU for cars. Right now there is a native Android System for cars in discussion.

I installed this on my Joying RK3188 running the latest Malaysk 5.1.1 ROM. Unfortunately, the ROM itself is so slow, Android Auto is almost unusuable. It does work, mind you, but the ROM seems to be the problem. Anyone know any bare-bones 5.1.1 ROMs that run quick? Thanks.

It's not exactly the ROM. It's the combination Google Maps + Google Now + Android Auto. I tried it on a clean ROM with only root and pretty much everything removed and it's unusable.
I also noticed that a 5.1 ROM will run OK as long as you only have either Google Maps or Google Now. When you have both it's barely working.

Don't know if it is only RAM related. These units have very poor CPU profile - throttling. stepup clock control settings which use highest clock only rarely so most of the time CPU is running slow so many processes suffer especially when multiple apps are running in background.
I'm not using 5.1 ROM (as I see still issues and people complaining) so I cannot test if and what apps mix causes issues.
You may try some kernel tools for testing different governors, CPU throttling (yes I would try also thermal throttling if you want to be on the safe side as rumours are Chinese used above mentioned downclocked setup in order to save CPU from overheating as there is no heat sink).
It would be interesting to open new thread for this. Much improvements may be achieved only by tuning kernel. And that needs some experimenting and practising.
Also, regarding 5.1 it is well known that it is 'heavy' and one of the main points of 6 (MM) was to reduce resource usage. So instead jumping to LP and having resource issues, I'll wait to see if there will be progress on MM which may resolve much of the problems around.

I agree. From monitoring resource usage under 5.1 I have to say that while RAM usage will rarely go over 700 MB CPU is aggressively downclocked. However, I need to first add a heatsink and then play with governors.
However, not sure how much would that really help with Android Auto, it's so damn slow it takes like 20 seconds just to start

Heatsink issue is to be investigated also. For instance many phones do not have heatsinks and still endure very heavy usage. So it may be not necessary. For instance, thermal throttling may be sufficient.
Thus, both governor and thermal control should be investigated. I believe it is possible with little effort to tune these units to work very nicely without much hw poking.
SW in these units is just so bad and poor it is almost unbelievable! Beside designers didn't have basic knowledge on architecture, they even 'tuned' many things in just opposite of what is needed. They could have better situation if only leaves everything by default in AOSP
