Samsung firmware download - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does anyone know of an alternative site apart from sammobile to download stock firmwares?
Have been getting errors every time I hit download.
Thanks

Often times here, if there is a forum for your device. You should mention your model number so we can point you in the right direction, if possible.

Yes here go and check this out:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s/general/tool-samfirm-samsung-firmware-t2988647
it will detect your device and download the latest firmware. If it does not detect device you can manually specify it

I've downloaded the app (thank you very much) but i cant seem to find out my region. My CSC is J500MCHV1APC2.
And how can one find out how to decipher this code to determine their region?

Region is ZTO - Brazil
http://d-h.st/RbDZ
Slightly older firmware. Same android version, 5.1.1, just a few months older. That is the only faster download I've found. All others are from sammobile, rapidgator, etc that are super slow. Even though it's not the latest, it should still get you out of trouble if you soft brick it.

Success..............Thank you for your support
I have another question, it is possible to install app on on my memory card my SM-J500M without rooting?
And how do you root the SM-J500M?
I've tried with odin but it always fails due to "FRP Lock".
Is it possible to root this device?

For some phones, you can move part of the app to the SD card in Settings > Applications.
Root - https://download.chainfire.eu/819/CF-Root/CF-Auto-Root/CF-Auto-Root-j5lte-j5lteub-smj500m.zip unzip and flash in Odin (run in Admin mode) in the PDA or AP slot, depending on which version of Odin you have.
FRP lock means that you need to enable OEM Unlocking in the Developer Options. Have to click on the Build Number 7 times and that option will appear in Settings.

Stuck in NAND Write - Odin

Hey guys,
I'm trying to flash a brazilian firmware in my G925i thru ODIN, but the process stucks in NAND WRITE and nothing happen.
Someone knows what can I do?
I've heard somewhere that this is a hard brick

Hey there, I had a similar problem, what I did was re-install the Samsung drivers and reboot the computer also I turned off my lock screen and activation on the phone. Between the two of those things it allowed ODIN to have success.

Even you have to put the phone in Download mode?
Edit: I tried the same and it still does not work :/
I tried again, but this time I ran the Odin as administrator. I passed thru NAND Write but in the end of all process it says FAIL and brick my phone.
I am trying to flash this file: G925IDVU1AOD1_G925IZTO1AOD1_G925IDVU1AOD1_HOME.tar.md5
You can see the issue attached:
you fail because you need a pit file..I can flash my normal firmware without a problem..but if I try a other one for example a provider one..it fails..for that we need the pit..and for that we need root..to extract it from the phone..and I don't won't to root ATM..
So how can I fix the device?
I tryng to use the Smart Switch PC but my device does not appear in the list to recovery emergency
I reinstalled the usb driver..

No, I just want to change the firmware version because the version that came with the phone does not have Portuguese as all language. The revice was 100% stock, just tried to flash another country firmware thru Odin and it has been bricked.

O.k the only way I know around this without finding your original firmware and flashing that, is to:
flash the firmware again, and wait until it fails again,
then hold vol down + power + home to get it to restart in to download mode again but keep odin open,
then flash CF autoroot .
then wait for the phone to reboot and it will install root then it will restart two more times on it own then should boot into the O.S.
(i take no responsibility if you mess up you device though but I have done this on more than one occasion and it always works for me)
I expect you could probably do this will another recovery(stock/twrp) instead of the CF autoroot one but have yet to try.
but you probably will be better off finding original firmware but you will not have Portuguese as you want.
Good luck with trying to fix your device

Maybe you can try each of the stock versions until you get the right one for your particular device. Also maybe a model number would help someone on here to identify what version you have, I don't know just throwing that out there.
My phone is G925i, and in the back says that it is made in Yateley, UK
Wich firmware you think I can try to flash?
I was trying the G925IDVU1AOD1_G925IZTO1AOD1_G925IDVU1AOD1 and then the phone has bee bricked.

Is it showing as only 16GB capacity or 16GB free memory left? Sometimes rarely flashing custom rom can mess up partitions. Flashing stock will fix this.
Stock is the way to go then i guess, thanks. Yes partition seems messed up.

Hi sorry for reviving this thread. i am having the same issue as OP and wanted to ask. i have an s6 edge plus and i rooted it to make it easier for me and wanted to go back to stock rom. so my cousin brother flashed it for me and it ended up having 16gb storage like the OP.
I was wondering is that the same thing as flashing stock or thats another thing?
I used odin3 3.12 today to flash saudi arabia version and it still shows 16gb. If its not the same thing as flashing stock rom, how do i go about doing it?
Thank you very much

Try that one first. If it does not work try the first link, the saudi one

I also wanted to ask when i click on odin3 3.12 Pit tab, it says its only for Engineers. That kind of caught my eye.
Is it a risky thing using a pit file? as in a chance of bricking the phone or its just a warning odin3 gives?

Its just a warning. Dont worry about it. As long as you only flash it with the PAK firmware it will be fine. Its a message that will always pop up when you click on pit.

Sorry for the late response, it took 7 hours to download PAK version from Sammobile.
I just tried re flashing with PAK version and including the pit provided. but it shows the same result. storage as 16gb.
im downloading ARABIC (STC) one now to try.
Will put it to download and go to work and give you a headsup after trying within 4 hours (If the download has completed).

I just tried to flash my phone with the IRAN one where we had 4 files totally (this was the one we used when we went from rooted s6 edge plus to stock rom) but used only AP. This time i tried with all 4 and it says (Success 0/ Failure1).
So i just reflashed Saudi one i used before and now downloading Saudi (STC) from Sammobile. will let you know after i try it
Oh and i also wanted to ask. reflashing phone a number of time a day will pose any risk to it? or you can just do it any amount of time?

The one you tried to flash with 4 files you need to flash all files not just one. Thats why it failed.
I have seen this happen before and it should flash the partition back to 32GB after flashing stock with pit.
Before you flash the next one reply here so i can guide you.
And dont worry about the amount of times you flash it. It will do no harm no matter how many times you flssh it.

Hi, im currently at work and will be home within an hour.
This morning i used IRAN (4 file one) and used all 4 files on odin. Here is what i did in detail.
1. Opened Odin 3 v3.12
2. Uploaded BL (1st), AP (2nd), CP (3rd) and CSC (Last)
3. Under options - > only Auto Reboot and F.Reset Time was ticked.
4. I hold volume down, menu button and power button at same time and pressed volume up button.
5. I connected the phone to Computer.
6. Odin3 recognized phone and i clicked start.
Within 2-3 seconds it said it has failed, and i used the SAUDI file to reflash back to normal (As i was late for work).
.............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
For the PAK file with the PIT you provided, i did everything almost the same other than it had only AP file and i had Re-partition ticked as well. It flashed fine but showed the same 16gb storage limit.
I will be home soon and post here beforehand if its easier for you and allowed in forum to use skypecall or such, that is indeed fine for me as well.
Thank you very much.

[HELP] Galaxy S7 could be bricked, need help to fix

I have a Galaxy S7 standard. This afternoon, I got a notification that an automatic update could not be installed properly. The phone rebooted and it got stuck on the Samsung title forever. I managed to force-reboot it a couple time but it kept stalling on the Samsung title.
I tried to boot the safe mode, without success. I then managed to boot the recovery mode and tried what was suggested on android forums by users who had similar problems, and I flushed the memory cache from the recovery mode menu. This is where it got worse. I read many articles by users who managed to root their phones back to the original firmware throught Odin and saved their data doing so.
So I downloaded the firmware for my region and my service provider from sammobile and ran the installation though Odin 3.12.5. The installation almost went through and crashed at the Cache step (near 99% completion), with the error (Custom binary(SYSTEM) blocked by FRP Lock) written on my phone on top of the (An error has occured while updating the device software. Use the Emergency recovery function in the Smart Switch PC software).
Now I cant get my phone to boot the recovery mode. I can't even shut it down. It will only reboot and go straight to the error page. Smart Switch PC won't recognize the phone so I can't recover it from there. Can anyone help me solve this? Given where I'm at, I wouldn't mind a way to reset it to factory default and lose my stuff.
Thanks in advance.
Louis
So , to help you I need information of your phone :
1. What is full model of your device ?
2. It is based on Qualcomm or Exynos CPU?
3. Does Odin still recognise your device ?

1. SM-G930W8
2. How do I find this information? Quick googling makes me believe it is Exynos because I bought it in Canada for the Telus network, but I can't confirm anything since I can't boot it.
3. Yes it does. I can retry the installation, but it fails at the same step over and over.
Okay , so download this file in order to disable FRP lock , use Odin click on "AP" so after that you can restore normaly back to Stock Firmware with Odin or Smart Switch .

Tried this. It processes the installation and fails near the end. This time it is Custom binary (userdata) blocked by FRP lock
added : I used only AP when trying this. No BL, CP or CSC.
So then is problem on your Firmware , go to sammobile and download latest Version of Firmware for your device and your Region .
So that error Custom Recovery is probably problem because you flash your device with old Firmware version 6.0 and that way cannot Flash your Firmware because Firmware Signature.

I do have the version from 2017-08-31 which says version 7.0 (see https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-s7/SM-G930W8/TLS/)
There is a newer version dated 2017-11-30 but the sammobile website for some reason has a broken link, or restricts downloading if you're not a premium member, which I'm not. If you can provide me with an alternative link to download the latest one, I'll give it a go. But both seem to be version 7.0
Added : Nevermind the broken link, Sammobile site has issues and their forum helped me solve it. I'll try installing the newest firmware when it is downloaded

Well... basically it would cost me more to repair it than what it would be worth. Financially, my best option is to buy a new phone :crying:
This means, I can try new tricks to try to fix it. I'm open to hear any ideas you guys have. Is there a way to force shotdown the phone to get out of the ''Download update'' menu which I'm stuck in? And then, is there a way to reach the recovery mode to do a factory reset? Would that work?
Dude , why you give up ? Just keep trying
Try with this Firmware now :

Unbrand my note 8

So I purchase this note 8 5 months ago it is a Tmobile Note 8. I recently updated to the latest security patch. I came across this unbrand tutorial and downloaded the patched Odin, XAA rom, BL,CSC, AP. While I try to flash my note 8 in download mode Odin just start and end in a few seconds. Nothing happening in my phone. No error code either.
So is it not possible to flash unbranded firmware now due to locked bootloader? I saw article that saying flashing carrier unlocked firmware will brick the phone.

1. You need patched Odin
2. PC needs recent Samsung USB drivers
3. Check the downloaded file's integrity (for corruption)
XAA can be flashed to any SD model. I used CSA1 on mine, but currently using TMO fw. Phones with locked loaders will generally accept signed packages.

Assuming I have the right firmware, ap, black, CSC, and my phone in download mode, when I press start in Odin nothing happen on my phone nor the progress bar in odin. No error code for odin as well. It says something like fail to execute.

Alright I might download the 3.13.1_3B and try now. Does using home CSC affect the flags because I dont want to wipe my drive yet. I was hoping pie update will kinda fix what might be mess up during the flash

Did it detect your phone? Normal Odin won't work for conversions.

DON'T use home csc unless you're flashing the same carrier fw (tmo -> tmo). You need the other one (oym). And yeah, it'll erase everything.

I will have to wipe everything then. Another dumb question, is there anyway to backup the phone? I used to own a note 3 and it does through kies. Does note 8 backup through kies as well.

Before wiping anything manually unlink your Google account (frp) and Samsung account. You can backup most things with Smart Switch. Some apps or fames store files in /root/Android/. No clue about Kies, never tried it.

Something isn't right. Did you install the current Samsung drivers? You also need to fill everything (AP, BL, etc).
Edit: Try another USB port. Preferably USB2. Also check the archive you downloaded in 7zip, it might be corrupted.

Sadly all the usb port on my laptop is usb 3. I download the firmware from Samfirm twice, tried it both didnt work now checking it with 7zip as im typing.
Alright 7zip says no errors.
Just to clarify, the I have bootloader v5 does that inhibit my ability to flash unbranded firmware?
I have RMVP provisioned and RMVP fuse blown on the download screen and Qualcomm secure boot on, i dont know if it matter to the flash. I have read some thread windows 10 might be one of the reason it fails. I dont know. I might start from removing my google account and try.

You need to get to a USB2 port. None of my Type C phones function correctly when plugged into the USB3 port.
Downgrading BL isn't possible, but you can switch to a fw with the same BL version. My N8 was on the Sept patch (TMB) before I moved to CRL2. Windows 10 can cause conflicts on some setups. I'm an insider so using a test build of W10, not the normal one.
The reason you should remove the account is just to avoid placing a Google lock on your own phone.

- To flash an unbranded firmware (U1) download this patched Odin https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=890129502657595813
- Then you can go from CRL1 to CRL2 flashing this firmware through Odin https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=11410963190603907794 take a backup using Smart Switch, you can keep it in your sdcard, don´t forget to enable USB debugging in developer options, go to recovery manually or use adb reboot recovery to be sure that pc is detecting device properly, format data and reboot to bootloader (according recovery stock menu) and flash the files using CSC_OYM (you need to format your actual CSC).
- Till here is done and you´ll receive an OTA notification to update to the latest Oreo CSA1 (aproximately 46MB) but if you want to go to Pie betas don´t update it and download this zip and flash it in recovery https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=11410963190603909037
- And this is the latest Pie beta update available for unbranded Note8 https://firmware.science/download?url=00000/0000/SS-N950U1UEU5ZSAB-to-EU5ZSBB-UP

Galaxy J6 stuck at logo bootloop after "rooting"

Hello there!
I installed TWRP recovery mode on my phone in order to root it, I watched a very goog tutorial (
) on how to do it. After installing Magisk, my Galaxy J6 is stuck at logo bootloop, I uninstalled Magisk but it did not help. I tried to wipe data, format and everything from TWRP, but it did not work.
How do I fix my phone??

You can access download mode?
Then I recommend to restart from scratch by using Odin to flash latest Stock ROM (get it via samfirm_reborn).

Don't understand your question.
You wrote you've wiped already and it didn't help.
In download mode USB-debugging doesn't work anyway.
As system is wiped it can't work imo.

Thank you for the link, but there is no file with the name Stock ROM or firmware or something like that. How am I supposed to download the Stock ROM to my laptop??
Please bear with me, I know I am aksing to much
@mahaci7363 use samfirm to download stock ROM from Samsungs servers.
Check "binary nature"
Unzip the file you'll get into 4 o 5 different files (AP, BL, CSC aso)
Start Odin and insert the files appropriately.

@bmwdroid Thank you so much! Then all I have to do is start Odin and wait for the installation (I believe I should be in download mode). Can I use Sammobile? (Found a firmware for Nordic countries - this is where I live) In Samfirms I did not find a version for Nordic countries.
I really appreciate your help! Thanks mate!

Download mode is necessary for using Odin.
Sammobile can be used as well, but sometimes it only gives you a one part file which might not help as much as the multiple part files you'd get using samfirm.
Which region code did you try there? NEE?
How to Find Your Samsung Galaxy CSC Region Code? - KrispiTech
CSC stands for Country Specific Code. It is needed to download firmware for Samsung Galaxy smartphones and we can find out what ours is in
krispitech.com
Device type SM-J600F ?
Never happened for my eight devices that samfirm didn't find the stock ROM.
One part file has to be put in AP on Odin.
@mahaci7363 you seem to be right.
Just tried myself and with J600F I couldn't find any.
That's peculiar.
So you have to rely on sammobile.

My device type is SM-J600FN, but it is okay, I can download the SM-J600F version.
Isn't CSC the same as the build number?? In that case, I copied it before damaging my phone: J600FXXUACVC2.
I found a firmware version for J600FXXUACVC2 but its region is Iraq, which is really strange, since I live in Sweden and bought the phone from Sweden. Unfortunately I did not manage to find the CSC code, in downloading mode I don't see information about my device, I only see this: (check the image).
Can't I just choose the version Nordic countries or is it going to damage my phone more?? In that case, I can download the Iraq version which has the same build number as my J6

Edit: I did not see your comments before this comment, thanks for the help @bmwdroid ! I really appreciate it!
@bmwdroid the downloading instructions on sammobile:
Add the firmware files to their designated slots (AP in AP, BL in BL,
CP in CP, HOME_CSC in CSC). Do not tick any extra boxes. The only
options to be ticked are F. Reset Time and Auto-Reboot.
What is meant with the option F? I don't find any options in Odin.
Edit: I found it
